This was absolutely the best experience I've EVER had at a nail salon, and the first review I've ever felt the need to write about one. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and we let them know we were looking for three mani and pedis. We're taken back right away to their pedicure chairs, and omg, it's so cute. They have these very comfortable brown leather couch like set ups that allow you to really relax- I could have slept. It felt very spa like, and was very visually appealing and clean. Then when we realized how amazing their package options were, we decided to go all out, and my friend let them know it was my birthday! I didn't have my kids for the first time in forever and so we got the fig and pomegranate organic spa package, and man was with worth it. They even pushed their morning appointments back for us so we could have the place to ourself. We were there for two and a half hours getting the works. Lol Everyone was so sweet and you could tell they worked well together. It's a family owned place, and it felt that way. I had multiple nail techs working on me dependent on what was happening and who was best at what. It was a real team and we felt so pampered. And 9 times out of ten when I'm at a nail salon I don't necessarily feel "comfortable," but they just made us feel so welcomed. My friend had her baby with us, and the nice gentleman Tony took the time to stroll him around the shop and do everything he could to help us have a relaxing time. Offered us water bottles for his formula. And him and his wife even played with the baby, it was absolutely adorable. To top everything off about the environment, they're really talented too. My hands and feet have not looked this good in a long time! They were very thorough and meticulous, making sure my skin and nails were properly taken care of. They also have a talented design artist I will be going back to And no need for the massage chairs, because most of their packages come with a shoulder massage. I mean. Seriously? Updating yet again because I just have to let yall know about my recent experience here with my bridesmaids! The day before my wedding, I made appointments for myself, 7 of my bridesmaids, and my mom to get manicures and pedicures here. They suggested that we come in at 9am, one hour before they open, so that we could have a private party with snacks and drinks (at no extra charge!). Of course I was all in for that! I made this appointment way back in June, so I didn't really know what to expect once the day came around. But, that week I received a confirmation call that put me at ease. They didn't forget about us and we were definitely on the books! When the day came, we arrived to an empty, clean salon and technicians who were excited to serve us. They had the cutest display of coffee, orange juice, chips, cookies, and fruit for us and got started right away. This was one of my favorite memories of my wedding weekend. It was such a great experience to be able to spend this time with my bridesmaids while being pampered. They let us pick whatever service we wanted from the menus and everyone loved what they got. This time, I chose the mani/pedi with the lemon scrub and it was so worth the extra money. My skin felt like silk for days afterward. This experience has once again solidified for me that Artizen is the best nail salon in Richmond. Period. They were so happy to host us, took lots of photos, and even gave us a shout out on Facebook afterward. Today, I went to this nail salon for fresh dip & manicure. Everything was fine until the nail tech cut my cuticle. She never apologized. I can understand an accident, but don't blame the customer. She said my cuticles are dry. Maybe that was due to the acetone soak, to remove the old dip. The dip nails were fine. Overall the experience was fair. I won't be back. read more

But m not really satisfied with the pedicure, it felt like the lady was in too hurry to finish me up and take another customer which I understand but each customer should get what they paid for. Just visiting so one time visitor but this place is awesome and I wish I lived here. It's really clean, I got a pedicure in a separately divided space with a comfortable cushiony chair. My lady went to town on a bomb leg massage that lasted 5 mins per leg including hot stones. Felt amaze. Great choice of colors, very friendly service. Absolutely amazing experience. I have hated every other nail salon that I've been to in Richmond. They were too rough on my hands, act like my request for different color on each nail is too much, and/or the final product just is not quality and the nails break/chip/wear off quickly. But at Artizen...none of those issues. Incredibly kind friendly staff, Carrie was excited to do my favorite thing which is a multi-colored french tip. THE CHAIRS IN HERE ARE LUSH! I had the lemon green tea and my friend had the pina colada pedicures. Both were fragrant and delightful. Very! Affordable for all that the pedicure entails. I arrived around 6:30 and was not rushed. (They close at 7 I felt bad:() My tech took her time and did a great job. My bf got her nails done and they're gorgeous ! The staff are very friendly and I loved my experience. I had a hard day and opted for a basic mani-pedi. The pedicure came with hot stone massage. Very nice after a long day at work. Prices are very reasonable and I can see why they have a high rating. They offer tea/water, there are tv's and magazines as well. Since moving to the West End, I have continued to drive to Chester to get my pedicures from the person I have gone to forever. Yesterday, I really needed a pedicure and some pampering. I went on a whim to Artizen and I couldn't have been happier. I got the Milk & Honey pedicure, which included an amazing and lengthy massage to my feet, calves, and even upper back (wen toes were drying). I can't remember the last time I felt so relaxed. Although I'm not 100 percent impressed with the outcome of my nails, I don't want to detract from the wonderful experience I had here. The staff is wonderful & professional. I had a Cucumber pedicure (the works, scrub, hot towel, hot stones, paraffin wax) & the technician (whose name I forgot to ask) was amazing. Definitely top 3 pedicures I've had (been doing my nails since high school, so 20ish years?) I usually keep my fingers simple with manicures & gel polish, but I decided to go a little bolder & get coffin shaped tips in a light matte color. She( different tech)did tips with SNS powder dip overlay, & a UV cured gel polish matte top coat. I opted to get a manicure added on as well. It's been a while since I had artificial nail work done, but I knew I wanted to steer clear of acrylic. 3 of my fingers are uneven shaped with one side being more slanted than the other & the back cuticle side seems to be rather thick. Idk, if its the not being used to the artificial work or if she didn't buff it down enough. She also nipped one of my cuticles, & left a bunch of strands of buffed product under the sides of my nails. As far as the manicure goes, she really just trimmed my cuticles down, there wasn't really a manicure aspect to it. (Menu lists a light massage as part of the service) Over all the flaws are very minor & Artizen is a great nail salon, I will definitely be back. read more

This is consistently the best nail salon that I have ever been to and I have never been disappointed. The technicians have great attention to detail and the manicures/pedicures are high quality. All my manicures and pedicures here last a minimum of two weeks before chipping (and this is the normal mani/pedi, NOT the UV version). The pedicure chairs are comfortable and the place is impeccably clean. The owners and managers are friendly and welcoming and it is reasonably priced. Their eyebrow waxing is also very good. I could go on and on. Even though I've moved to DC, I still come back here to get my nails done when I'm in Richmond on business trips. read more

I booked an appointment to have SNS done to my nails just before graduation. The lady took her time and was very nice.. At the end, I noticed that my nails were super bumpy and not smooth at all. Great salon! Excellent ambience. The place is very modern really nice furniture, especially the pedicure chairs are very comfortable. However the service is awful. I had an appointment scheduled and as soon as i walked in they sat me in the pedicure chair with my feet on the water and left me there for over 30mins. I really dont mind waiting but no one came to apologize or at least tell me how much longer i had to wait. After i am sooo tired of waiting i asked one of the ladies how much longer i have to wait.. A friend referred me to Artizen. I liked it. Nondescript exterior, zen-like interior with plenty of staff to handle the clientele. The pedicure chairs are ridiculously comfortable. I will try to be as factual and objective as possible in this review, although I am really upset. I had some time off the day before the holiday, so made a last minute to get some mood changing treatment that I haven't had the time to go for for a while. After reviewing all the good reviews on Yelp, I called in at 10:15 to check the availability and to my surprise I was able to make an appointment for manicure and pedicure at 10:45. I came in promptly, but they told me that seems my appointment was cancelled, as on the book my name was crossed off. I just called in 30min ago and absolutely did not make changes. They told me to wait and pick colors so I did and found a seat. No one came to communicate ideas or gave some advice on colors, just all by myself. The girl at the reception had her earbuds on all the time and was not informative when I had questions about the types of nail arts they offer or technicals they are capable of. She had to go inside to the owner/technician in charge to get an answer for me for most of my questions. Now the wait began. At 11:30 I asked how long I would still need to wait, and I was told another 30min. I was very upset and questioned about the unreasonable wait time after booking an appointment. The owner finally came out and thought I walked in and was just upset about the wait time, and said I have to wait because they are very busy, with a very rude attitude. I explained to her I had made an appointment and waited for 50 min already. She looked at the book and saw my name, got slightly nicer, and told me they would be with me very shortly. That was at 11:45, one hours after I came in at my appointment time. Now I badly regret that I should have just left and enjoyed the rest of my day at that point. However at the time I was just hoping to get my nails done before the holiday and was hesitant to leave after already waiting for one hour, so I decided to give it another try based on the good reviews on Yelp. It was a total mistake. Not until 12:30 did I finally get seated to a nail station. I showed a picture to my technician and asked if she could do that, she said yes. So I trusted her. I was too focused on whether or not I would get the nails I wanted, and didn't even mention that they were not doing a manicure as I requested but rather a nail art without any treatment, until the technician started to apply gel to my nails. I was like - fine, as long as I get my nails done. I take good care of my hands at home anyways. The whole job was done in less than 20 minutes. And the nails I got were not even close to the picture I gave to her. I will post the pictures for comparison. So the picture I gave her is obviously an ombre work with fine painting of the frames. The one I received is really just colorful leopard print. It looks okay, but it is NOTHING that I asked for and she promised doing. Then she told me - you are all done! It was 1pm at the time. I told her I also have a pedicure so she escorted me to the pedicure area. I sat there for another 20 minutes. The pedicure started at roughly 1:20pm, and at 1:40pm they finally asked whether I wanted some water. After 3 hours since I came. Yes that's right, no one ever greeted you with at least some water, in a "luxurious spa", as they advertised. I chose an add-on of shellac for my toes for $20 extra. All combined with the pedicure, it was done in less than 40 minutes. Everything seems rushed to me. I get that it was through lunch time and they may just want to get everything out of their way, but sorry that was not my fault, and I feel even worse that I was the one that paid for waiting for freaking 2 hours, being starving through lunchtime and not even getting any water. I checked out at 2pm exactly. The bill came to around $75. For mani plus pedi, it is a fairly good price as compared to other places I've been to. However, considering the quality of service I received, I feel literally robbed. To put it fair, I am a spa lover and never hesitate to spend on getting myself pampered. I always tip my esthetician/masseuse/nail artist very well - even for $500+ service at some of the top-notch spas I would pay 25% tips, because I think they deserve it for giving such wonderful experience to their customers. This is the first time, ever in my life, and I hope it is also the last time, that I felt too shamed to leave any tips for the experience I'd received. read more

I was impressed with this nail salon. It was clean, and the staff was nice and did a great job with our manicures and pedicures. They don't have the normal massage chairs that most nail salons have. They have big leather seats with pillows on them that are super comfortable and make you feel like you are getting a special pedicure. The prices are competitive, what you would expect at any other nail salon in Richmond. I would definitely recommend this nail salon. read more

I must say this nail salon is the best Ive experienced in the area by far! Very relaxing atmosphere and super clean. Pricing is comparable to others however the service is great. Pedicure chairs feel amazing, fluffy back pillows, not the regular massage chairs in other places, but the technicians give those if your in need! All pedicure materials used are sterilized and held in separate containers. They also have a wide selection of gel colors to chose from as well. I have now finally found my go to nail place since moving from NJ. You wont be disappointed! The also have hooks on each nail station for your purse. Super cute and thoughtful! read more

I used to be a regular here and I was faithfully in the shop every 2-3 weeks. I love Tina and Kerry - it was usually one of them that did my nails and they knew me as soon as I walked in. They have lots of choices when it comes to colors and they also take their time when they do your nails. The pedicure stations in the back are comfortable and I could literally fall asleep on them! You can reserve your own nail kit if you are concerned about cleanliness. The only thing that stopped me from giving them 5 stars is because I feel they overprice when it comes to designs. I don't mind paying the money if it was an intricate design, but not really for just placing rhinestones. Overall, still a great place and really friendly people. read more

I will ONLY come here to get my nails done! They are all really experienced and provide great customer service. My go-to is Mao (she is super down to earth and has some AMAZING painting skills) but recently I've been seeing Tina because I wanted to try the dip powder and omg, she is just as excellent! I can tell they are both really committed to customer service. I'm pretty picky when it comes to how my nails look, but I never ever have had a complaint about this salon - that's saying something. The prices are fair for the quality of work they provide. There are many salons in the Henrico area with similar pricing that don't provide anywhere NEAR the quality that Artizen does. If you're on the fence, definitely choose Artizen! They are as good as it gets. read more

AMAZING! Never in my life have I had an experience like this at a nail salon. As soon as I walked in they told me they had been waiting for me. That made me laugh and feel very welcomed. Most of the time I feel rushed when visiting nail salons, but Artizen, is anything but typical. I opted for the combo Lavender Spa Mani-Pedi. They even playfully convinced my boyfriend to get one too (he was originally getting the basic mani.) It was fun getting one together, even though we didn't do much talking... I was super relaxed in their oversized comfy chairs and after literally 45 min of smelling lavender and receiving a foot/leg massage, I was all about the napping. Seriously, go now and Treat. Yo. Great nail salon! Clean facility with a quiet, zen-like ambiance. The pedicure service is amazing - you get to soak your feet for a while and they pay a lot of attention to detail when trimming your nails, maintaining your cuticles and polishing your nails. They go above and beyond with lengthy foot and leg massages that actually hit your pressure points! The biggest surprise is when you sit down to let your polish dry, they give you a back massage! Lady who helped me was rough and rushed through my acylic application making it thick and gloopy looking. I told her the length I wanted and she filed it too short. Lots of times she filed on my skin, leaving my fingers looking rougher than when I arrived. She used an e-file underneath my nails and broke skin, drawing blood under my thumb which was painful the rest of the day. she tried to cover the bad acrylic job with layers of gel polish resulting in really thick, ugly nails. For $60 this was an incredibly disappointing experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone and will not be returning. read more

Most of the people are very nice (specifically Judy and Vee). The first time I went, I had an amazing experience with Judy. She was professional and did an amazing job. I was really satisfied with the end results and looked forward to going back. She is one of the only reasons that this is not a one star review. If everyone at the salon we're like Judy, I would be leaving a 5 star review. BUTTTTT unfortunately everyone else there isn't like Judy. The next time I called, I wasn't able to get an appointment with her. I figured that it seemed like a nice salon and the other people in there the first time I went seemed happy, so I made the appointment anyway. Big mistake on my part. The man assigned to be my manicurist walked in after smoking a cigarette and started working on me without even washing his hands which is extremely unsanitary and disgusting. I should not have to be serviced by someone reeking of cigarette smoke with dirty hands that haven't been washed in an unbeknownst amount of time. That should have been my signal to leave. But, unfortunately, I didn't. This is what I learned: Do NOT go here for dip/sns nails. I have had nexgen and sns at many different salons. Artizen does not do the process correctly and you end up having to dry your nails with UV light which real sns or dip systems do not require. One of the other people who was there saw that I was looking at my nails after the man had finished (there were lumps (!!!!!!!) within the coatings. She did her best to help, but said that the man had switched the top coat and base coat because someone had refilled the bottles wrong. I honestly would never have thought they just refill their polish containers, so I guess there is really no way of knowing what type of polish they are actually using with any artificial nail system. After the woman trying her best to help make my nails look decent, there was only so much that could be done. I ended up having to use the UV light to dry so I am 10000% sure they did not use an sns or typical dip polish since those should NEVER require you to UV dry. I left with my nails looking weirdly speckled, the color was basically see through which made it look like pink and white and not the light pink it should have. Less than a week later they had already fallen off all of my fingers on one hand. This kind of manicure usually lasts until it's grown out on me and I have not had that happen ever before. Not only that, the top of my natural nails were ripped off in the process. I went back to get them fixed and they tried to get me to have the same cigarette smoker who screwed up the first time work on me again and I said absolutely not. They ended up having to put tips on my hand where all the nails were broken. BUT they still did not do the process correctly (used the same polish for all coats) and drilled my nails so much that they are now paper thin and weak from the incorrect polish use and excessive drilling. I was hoping to be able to have Artizen be my go-to salon, but after what they did to my nails at my last 3 visits and their lack of oversight of staff hygiene I can't go back and give them a third try. I now have to start over the tedious process of growing my nails out so they can be healthy and strong again. I also have no choice but to continue getting sns or another artificial nail system because my nails are so damaged that having just regular polish isn't even an option. The entire point of sns is to help keep your nails healthy. That is NOT what happened here. I wish I had never made the appointment when Judy was not in. Please don't make the same mistake I did and find a different salon. If you do choose Artizen, make sure to ask for Judy and do NOT allow them to have the tall man with shaggy hair come near your nails. Wherever you go, I recommend asking them to show you the polishes they use for dip to avoid this kind of outcome. Make sure they know what they're doing, it became quite clear to me that not everyone does. read more
