I usually love this salon. However, today i had a terrible experience with who i believe is the owner. I showed him a picture of exactly what i wanted which was super simple hot pink almond shaped nails. he then proceeded to shape my nails very square. i said "oh i wanted them more round, like almond from the picture i showed you." he threw his hands in the air and yelled "why didn't you say something sooner!?" in front of everyone... so he got the drill out to start reshaping them and he cut into my cuticles multiple times on both of my hands. 4 of my fingers were bleeding and he was being very aggressive and sloppy. i told him a few times that he was hurting me and he just mumbled under his breath. terrible experience and i won't be back. if he was the owner, i'm confused as to why he'd want his business being ran this way. if he wasn't the owner, he should be made aware of the way his employees are treating customers. read more

The owner is extremely rude and thinks it's okay to make racist comments. His wife did my nails for which they were horrible! She didn't even measure the nails to make sure both hands were the same length, after she was done I went to the owner and asked him if he could fix them which he couldn't seem to understand how ugly they were. He then proceeded to tell me how she was his wife and she was going to fix them. She was making them uneven and sloppy again for which I asked for them to just paint them over one color, then Paul (the owner) proceeded to yell at me in front of customers for "making then work 3 times harder" I just wanted to leave after that so I let her finish them, after leaving I couldn't believe how ugly they still looked so my mom offered to go and ask for a refund, when she came back she told me that he denied the refund and I quote "to talk to him whenever she learned English". Just because we are Latinas he has no right to say racist slurs! I also had to go to the bank and get a printed statement for the purchase in order to get him to give me a refund for the nails. I have been coming here for a little over two years with my family. Today the owner made my 20 year old sister cry. She did not like the color of her nails, she asked if they could just paint over it black you were upset because "you are making me work 3 times harder" paying 100$+ for nails and we usually tipped 20-30% your techs all the time. I personally give 20-40 dollar for tips for their hard earned work, THEY deserve it not you. You then proceeded to say "Come back and talk to me when you learn English" to her mom. This place is terrible. It does look nice, and they do have nice beverages to offer, but the service is terrible. 1. I show my nail tech that I want a coffin shape, he attempts and it looks like a jagged cat claw and tells me this is $10 more 2. I tell him never mind I want regular square (rounded sides) because he apparently cannot do coffin. 3. I told him I wanted all glitter red, except one nail on each hand to have a Santa belt (he tells me this is ANOTHER $10 more) he then tries to paint only my tips red glitter, I told him no I want the entire nail. 4. He lazily finishes because he can tell I'm not happy. The shape was a rough square, uneven, gel missing in some parts, and the undersides so jagged they could cut someone. 5. The very nice manager comes and says next time he will do my nails coffin at a discounted price. He also fixed my jagged nails. However, he didn't offer the discount on THESE nails, meaning I won't be getting a discount ever. That is because I will NEVER be going back. This was my second visit. The first one was great! The lady at table 11 took her time and really shaped my acrylic nails to perfection. So, naturally I thought I would go back. What a mistake. The place was super dirty..smelled actually! My nails look terrible. Lumpy, bumpy, shaped like something I cant even describe. Lesson learned. When Escape is in the name...RUN! ESCAPE. One more thing...they are the most expensive place in Waco. I cant believe they charge $65 bucks for a fill! What a total rip off. Worse experience ever. I was given an amateur tech. The tech took shortcuts, which basically I am saying she was not providing all of the services that come with the pedicure I selected. She did not provide cuticle treatment, no lotion or solution of any kind on my feet, and no massage (not even minimal). I kept asking and she just wasn't understanding, got the manager and of course, he sided with his inexperienced tech and said I was having problems today...NOT, your tech is getting paid to provide a service, not eliminate steps. Put my shoes on to paint toes. Got paint on my shoes because they painted my toes with my shoes on.....don't like. She left a hanging nail on one of my toes. The manager is no good. I had a very hostile encounter with my male nail tech (very similar to a previous customer-Ashton F.) that ended in him storming off and another nail tech having to finish my nails. I was very surprised that this establishment conducted business in this way with little to no reprimand.It was especially disheartening because it was my birthday and I shared this with him. With that said, the second person was very nice and accommodating, but by that time I was ready to leave. Even as I checked out, the nail tech continued to have a nasty attitude while speaking to the ladies about me in another language. The absolute worst pedicure we have had from here. They were busy and rushed through pedicures. They were also having trouble with hot water heater so water was cool. When I asked for more hot water as it was cold the lady looked annoyed and went to back and brought a kettle of hot water and poured it in. She then added cold water which made it cold again. My son's girl friend was burned by the hot towels. She told him the towels were hot and he said they are fine and ignored her. We showed them her legs 30 minutes later and they just handed her some lotion to put on them. We will not be back. read more

Been here twice. The first time was fine. Young male nail tech did exactly what I wanted. When I went in for a fill I told the same tech what I wanted (silver glitter french tip). He had me pick the colors and when he put the paint on he said it was too light. I loved it but he said no and picked another color I didn't like. I told him I didn't want the French tip anymore as he picked a strong pink for the base and I wanted a clear base. I said the color was fine alone but no glitter French tip. The owner came over and got upset and asked me what I wanted and to decide because if I wanted the color I asked for the tech needed to take it all off. I said it's fine how it is I don't want the French tip. The owner was mad at me for changing my mind. I stayed quiet, let the guy finish, paid and left. I knew I was never coming back and was glad to have left. I'll let Karma take care of the owners treatment of customers. read more

So I went in to get my nails done today and I wanted some help with looking at some different pictures so I could make up my mind for which color I wanted or you know asking them well what do you think? Would this look best they were all very irritated with me and told me just to pick a color, and then they sent another person up there and did the same thing for to me. They went to go grab a color and I said well is that going to be a little bit of pink in it and she said just come to my station, and she started to work on my nails, I asked her about my cuticles if she could be really gentle with them because they're sore And I wanted to make sure that they got pushed back as well. She proceeded to start to do my nails, and when she was using the drill on my nails she was not going in the correct direction. She was using the drill in all kinds of angles and I told her ouch Like seven times she didn't say anything except you're OK then after about the third or fourth time that I said ouch I said OK cool the managers coming over here. He's gonna tell her you know to be more gentle. Instead, he looked at me and said you need to be still she's trying to get your nails done at this point in time I was like what the heck is going on here! Going to get your nails done is supposed to be a fun relaxing experience, especially because it's very expensive which I did not know how expensive it was to say the least every time I told her if something was hurting me, or if my nail shape looked a little bit off, she just grabbed my hand, very harshly, and And talked in Chinese and acted so rude. The two stars are for the pedicure. It was nice and relaxing although the guy was really fast ( I didn't catch his name) he was a really young guy though. He rushed through my pedi. The guy in the seat next to me had been there before me and already started his pedi and some how I finished before him, considering I paid for the deluxe I wouldn't think I'd be finished before him. But over all he did ok, but I've had much better.... Lets get to the problem. I went here before and got my nails dipped and they last a good month before I needed to take it off which is what sold me into coming back. This is not the case this time. Beau did my nails ( i don't recommend him at all). It wasn't even a week and the dip started to come off ( three days later to be exact). Absolutely the worst gel manicure I've ever gotten. The woman doing my nails made me bleed on 2 different fingers, did a sloppy paint job, and put some base coat on my nails that made my nails burn. I've had plenty of gel manicures, and I know that it is not supposed to feel like my nails/ skin are burning. Now when I call in to make an appointment he tells me she's busy to call back. I can't never get an appointment with her so I played his game. I went in as a walk In And got a pedicure. Hailey noticed it, and ask was I getting my nails and eye brows done I told her if you are not busy. Of course she did it so I had to do this on numerous occasions until one day Paul started talking in their language and I had my app of translations on. He told her do not serve me. So she said I have an appointment coming can do you nails. I said it's not that you can't do my nails but for some reason Paul doesn't want you to provide me services. So I left. I do not like to use the racial card, but In my opinion since he has grown in his business He doesn't want to serve black people. After sitting down he turned on the machine that powered his light, causing a random bowl of miscellaneous crap to fall into my purse. He spoke very fluent English, and made good conversation. He started talking about how he hated Texas and stated how he disliked all their views. It made me uncomfortable. But he did a good and quick job. The color change was much cheaper he said than a pedicure, and it still included shaping and buffing your nails. The lady who I paid was very rude, when I asked to ensure my tip would go to him she just said "yeah." and obviously spoke rudely about my question to her coworker. I had a Groupon for a hot stone massage and went this afternoon. When I called to schedule it they asked me to arrive a few minutes early for the paperwork. The lady at the reception desk was very sweet and got me in as as soon as I filled out their forms. The therapist, Bonnie, had an amazing touch and also an appreciation of when I wanted conversation and when I wanted silence. It was a really wonderful experience I feel asleep once or twice during the massage. It was incredible. I saw other reviews about the manicures and pedicures. Best nail salon I've ever been to. The techs are pleasant, they serve you a beverage of your choice while you're there (including bottled-water, soda or my fave, wine), they take pride in their work, and they are decently priced! My nails last over the 2 week typical time-period and they don't peel or crack easily. Polish usually lasts a long while. One thing I am particular about when getting acrylics (which I only do about a couple times a year) is that I prefer French manicure with a THIN white line, not that fat white tip that most nail salons do. They do this well. :) They also offer other services like waxing, pedicures and massages, but I don't usually take on these services. read more

My sister and I made an appointment for 2 on a Saturday. They sat us down immediately and we waited until 2:30 for our pedicures to begin. The woman helping me was rough and never so much as said hello. Her nails were long and rough, so much so she cut my leg with her nails. I now have a big long scratch mark on my calf. She never used lotion on my legs, just oil. Then when the pedicure was over she looked at me as if I was crazy when I asked for a towel to wipe my legs off. I HATE THIS PLACE! The Asian ladies here are soo rude! I brought my aunt here for a quick mani pedi and the place was full. The lady said it would take about 5 minutes to get to us but we told her we only had 30 minutes so we walked out and were about to head to another place that said they could take us right now, but the lady ran after us and told us she could do it in 30 minutes. We sat down and as soon as my aunts hands and feet were in the water the lady left to go work on someone else. We waited 5 minutes and then I reminded her we were on a time crunch. She came over to start on my aunts nails and started gossiping about me. A few times she even told my aunt that I was mad and was rushing her too much, but I had told her we were in a rush from the beginning. If she did not have the time to do her nails then she should not have ran after us the first time. My aunt had also asked her not to cut her nails short and to square them long but she cut them short anyways and rounded them! Then my aunt got a design on her nails and one of them was clearly crooked. I asked her to redo it and she said "You rush me, that's why I mess up, you cannot rush me." Overall it was the worst experience I have ever had at a nail salon in my life! I don't know how this place has gotten such a high rating! Do not support this place anywhere else is better! The manicurist made a rude comment about how I wore skinny jeans to get a pedicure (which I was able to roll up). I love the service given by Escape Spa, I have been going here since I was 16. Cleanliness is a must with a nail salon and Escape Spa Nails is a prime example of how clean a salon should be! They took care of me for four proms, three wedding events and every special party or occasion let alone routine nail upkeep. They always greet me by name, which that kind of hospitality is hard to come by these days. Paul and Haley are an amazing duo, as well as the rest of their team! I'm actually very fond of this place and always have been. I've been going here for almost 4 years now whenever I need anything done and i have to say that I leave satisfied 90% of the time. The other 10% is partially because of the possible wait - it's in a fairly small town and (in my opinion) it seems like one of the fancier places to go. You just have to pick the right time to go (obviously weekends will be busier). They also opened up the inside so it's much roomier with mani's on one side and pedi's on the other. I usually request (I'm not sure of his name), the manager to do my nails because he definitely knows what he's doing. He can probably come across with a bit of an attitude at first but he's actually really sweet once you talk with him. Pricing is about as normal as you can get with whatever you're wanting. If i didnt have to give a star..it would be minus 3 stars...the tech was rude from the get go..rushing me to pick a color...not completely cleaning the nails to reapply new powder...filed natural nails down to stub without asking and the lifted my nub up in air to say "pretty?".. WTH??! Really??!!.. She rushed through my process like a mouse on steroids barking stupid comments as she filed away at my skin and cuticles..when i would pull my hand away because she cut or scraped me ... again....she would pull me hand back aggressively and say.. " you ok..no big deal" and carry on. At one point I asked her to just leave my nail and go to next one... she muttered something under her breath in her native language and grabbed the spray bottle and sprayed it all over my hand. I later found out (2 seconds later) it was pure alcohol...and again stayed.." You alright!!, No big deal" And if the process wasnt torture enough when it was time to paint my nails she was impatient and sloppy... It looked like a 3 yr old had painted my nails. Gel polish all over my hands and fingers..coming over the sides of my nail bed and under my nails...my nails were unfinished and sharp on squared off corners....needless to say....that was a huge 45 dollar waste of time..sore hands.. cut fingers..and a crappy paint job...should have stayed home and trained my dog to do it for free...would have looked a heck of alot better!!! I used to get my nails done at a different place for over 3 yrs. I had not been going anywhere for about 3-4 yes when I started going to ESCAPE. I've been going here off and on for about 2 years. I will not go anywhere else ! I got a gift certificate from a student to go elsewhere and it just was not the same quality of service. I Started with pedicures - which I LOVE!!!! They do a great job. I started getting solar nails regularly about 6 months ago. They do a great job and they always look great. I love that they use my REAL nail as the base and don't cut mine off and put tips on. When I splurged and decided to get nails they actually stayed open past closing to do my nails and didn't mind at all or seemed rushed about it. I appreciate that they do their best to take care of you. One more story - a young mom was getting her nails done and had her little girl with her probably 5yrs old. The little girl ended up knocking off a bottle of polish and it broke and went all over the floor. The manager didn't make a big deal just cleaned up and told the little girl it was ok. He was really sweet about it. His reaction could have been so much different. I appreciated that. Being a mother myself, I do recommend leaving kids at home so you can actually enjoy your mani-pedi but I understand something you can't.
