What a great place and a fun activity! Took my 13 year old and 6 of her friends here for a birthday party. From the initial contact, and throughout the party, it was a fantastic experience. The girls choose the Sherlock Holmes themed room and loved it. It's played in the dark, with flashlights and you have an hour to get out. Kyle was the guide and did an excellent job explaining the game and helping out. I'm looking forward to going back with the family and try the Elevator room or the Prison room. Escape Room Ashburn was really fun! It started with a very professional host, Joseph, explaining all of the rules and getting us started on the Sherlock Holmes room. Joseph was helpful and attentive to our room. The room was tricky and we had to use 2 out of 3 clues. We finished with 4-5 minutes on the clock. Definitely recommend and looking forward to other rooms there. read more

Where do I begin? Heads up this is a long post but only because it needs to be said! My family and I (two parents and our 4 kids) came here Sept. 2020 and tried the Candy Shop, we loved it and decided to try another room very same day so we did Bank Heist. We had so much fun and the customer service was top notch! The place is super clean too (bathrooms as well). Fast forward to now, my kids have Spring Break and we wanted to do something fun for them in the area since we can't travel. Decided to book two diff rooms in one night since our experience last time was great. I called to ask a number of questions about accommodating large group, availability of multiple rooms, and discounts since the code I was given had expired. The gentleman that helped me over the phone, Chip, was so nice and helpful. Chip walked me through getting a Groupon. I was out bowling with my kids so I couldn't get the Groupon at the moment and so Chip was understanding and offered to help me out via txt msg. He followed through with txt and even helped me when I got home and reached out not noticing it was 11 pm on a Thursday night! Chip even had his team hold rooms for me until 12 PM the next day. Following day I had some trouble booking the rooms and I called Chips personal phone and he helped out AGAIN! Can everyone have this level of customer service?!?!? We got the rooms booked and had a really fun time! I highly recommend Escape Room in Ashburn and sad that we have now done all their rooms. I am def checking back for when they have new rooms available. My entire family (this time I brought my adult siblings with me) had a blast and loved the customer service. Went to Jailbreak, was a bit disappointing. Had been to this location before and had fun, but this room had some issues. Had some of the combos and clues correct, but locks didn't work and at one stage there's a job for one person and no one can do anything while you wait. That part took 30% of our time and without locks working we got frustrated and bored. read more

Escape Rooms are definitely not equal at various locations. We will drive back out to the Herndon location or try out the Leesburg location next time. Ashburn's Escape Room definitely lacks luster compared to Herndon's location. First, the Jail Break Room was pretty much finding keys and codes and figuring out which locks and what order they go in. In the Herndon location there were more riddles and puzzles and all the clues had value in escaping. Second, the staff greatly effects your experience. We had a quite, unexcited guy helping us at this location, that came off as rude when assisting us with clues. Later we found out he was busy on his personal phone while he was suppose to be assisting us over the monitoring system. Which makes sense bc each time we asked him for a clue we needed to review with him what step we were on then tell him we already tried the suggestion he gave us. Waste of valuable time! Honestly I don't think that guy knew how to get out of the room let alone give us clues to get out ourselves. Lastly, the area to take pictures was much different in this location. Pretty much a Escape Room backdrop and laminated 8x10s with statements in the same font and same color. Do yourselves a favor drive to Herndon's Escape Room. Staff is excited about the riddles and puzzles they have put together for you. They monitor you to see you take the exact turns they intended when they put the room together! Overall, Ashburn's Escape Room was a disappointing experience. **side note: yes I am disappointed I didn't escape Jail Break but I also didn't escape at the other location. After being introduced to escape rooms while on vacation and having an amazing time, I was very excited to find an escape room minutes away from my home in Ashburn. The experience was quite different from my first escape room even from the moment I walked in. As soon as I entered, there was no excitement or buildup to entering the game. I just felt like I was entering into the reception area of a dentists office. My first impression was pretty accurate because I was very disappointed as soon as we entered the escape room. I actually thought I had reviewed this already, but apparently not. My family chose this as our last activity before the older kids headed back home to California during Christmas vacation. Although we were underwhelmed when we first walked in we stayed positive. We were also not so sure when we saw our room (prison break) because it seemed so small and plain. As we continued on we realized our first impression was wrong. We had such a good time! The actual escape was quite difficult but we made it with seconds to spare. The workers helping us were very young (to us middle agers anyway) but they did an excellent job. We had a ball and will definitely be back when everyone visits again this summer. read more

Don't even waste your money. I'm not that difficult to please when it comes to an escape room. It's more about the fun experience with the group whether we escape or not. This place left everyone irritated. We booked last minute-and were happy that there was availability. My groups there and no one is at the front-a few minutes later a young guy comes from the back to greet us and "get us set up".... this took about 20-30 minutes. While we just stood around (the place isn't big enough to fit a proper waiting area), the room was clearly being set up. We did not escape-not due to lack of skill, but due to the fact that nothing properly worked. At first we all thought we were missing critical clues, and so we asked for help. All 3 times the help given involved thing ms we had already done correctly. By the end we were unsatisfied and ready to leave. I received an email meant for another guest asking about my experience. Absolutely the worst escape experience by far. read more

This is an enjoyable way to pass an hour or so in frivolous activity. The problem I had with this establishment is their release of liability. As is to be expected, it is loaded heavily in their favor and places drastic restrictions on the customer. It is entirely unnecessary in light of the risks involved. As is usual with businesses these days, they strong-arm you into providing an email address so that they can spam you. They reluctantly accepted that I had no email address. But I don't appreciate being forced to lie over such an idiotic request. read more

I didn't realize all escape rooms were not created equal. I had been to a escape room before decorated to a T with theming and puzzles galore this place was not like that. I did bank heist and saw the candy room. It was like walking into any old office building with cream walls and a tv annoyingly playing the mission impossible song on repeat. We had a hangup on the first clue because the handwriting was poor on the clue so we kept getting a password wrong the d and 2 were to similar. The bank heist room was just figure out computer password open safe get a clue three times. The candy room sadly was just plain white walls with jars of candy. We booked a week in advance and was kept waiting 30 mins past because they were "short staffed" so short we could only then start our room when a employee showed up for work. I have done quite a few escape rooms around NOVA as well in and around Memphis (where my sister lives) We did the candy room escape. I echo what others have said about the lackluster staff. Not only that, we were greeted with white walls and no real decor in the room itself. Extreme disappointment in the "feel" and ambiance of the room. Also disappointed to pay $30 a person to only have a 20 minute experience (yes, it was that easy). Ended up being so disappointed that we made up for it by booking an experience in Herndon Escape Room (which restored my faith in escape rooms! LOL). I am not planning on ever returning to this location. I would stay away from this place. Not for the price. read more

Did a walk in today because didn't plan. The staff was very accomodating despite the lack of reservation. We tried their newest room the Elevator. We died. The room has a lot of fancy tech and cool props. Not one of those rooms with a bunch of combination locks with clues. There's some exposed wires that we tried pulling on that can be better hidden. Overall a very good immersive experience with difficult hands-on puzzles. read more

Had a good experience for a date night out. We picked the candy room theme, and you get to eat all the candy you want! It was easier then I thought it would be, and seems to be a good experience for kids in the area. Liked the fact we would have the room to ourselves even though it was only four people. read more

Visited Escape Room Ashburn and had a great time! The staff is friendly, the rooms are put together in a clever manner, and the game masters are always helpful when needed. The owner was even nice enough to accommodate us at a time the Escape Room isn't always open and recommend food in the area for when we were done. Went through Jail Break and can't wait to go back and try the new Elevator Room. All in all, one of the best Escape Room experiences I've ever had read more

I wasn't really sure how I would feel about this place, but my kids dragged me to it and I'm so glad I ended up going with them because I had a great time! As a first time Escape Room experience, I'm glad I ended up at this one. The room we tried was well put together and the game master was helpful the times we got stuck. The owner happened to be there when we were there and he made sure to listen to our feedback afterwards. Overall, great experience and I would love to go back and try another room soon. read more

I am a big fan of escape rooms, and have done a lot of the ones in the area--Escape Room Ashburn is by far the worst of them all. They have the worst customer service-it is very obvious that none of the 'game masters' have ever actually DONE an escape room themselves, especially as they insisted on giving my group answers and instructions in an effort to rush us through the room--we never used our hints because our game master just gave us help without being asked, totally ruining the entire experience. The rooms are all mediocre and sloppy, and worst of all, the owner (I'm assuming that's who he was, at least) is extremely rude to his employees. Save your money or go to any other escape room in the area, Escape Room Ashburn just isn't worth it. read more

Very disappointed in my experience here. We had barely opened the door when a young man (who clearly doesn't like his job) said "do you have a reservation?" without making any eye contact with us. While Escape Room Ashburn is nicely priced, and the pictures look great, they are definitely lacking in some areas. Yes, the room was fun, and yes, my group and I were able to escape. However, there were things that were not working in the Candy Shop room, and when the game master was trying to either fix them or verify if it was on our end or theirs, our clock was not stopped. It would be nice if the clock was stopped when the problem was on their end, other places stop the clock. They also wouldn't give us a hint when we asked for it, we were told "you're doing so well. You don't need a clue." They also play music in the rooms, which is fine, but if the game master is going to come on the intercom, the music should be turned off. It was ridiculously hard to understand what they were saying. The room also could have been decorated a lot nicer. It was a good concept, but is lacking in a few areas. I don't know if I'll be returning to Escape Room Ashburn. read more

This place is a blast! Our group did 2 rooms! Challenging yet lots of laughter! Can't wait to go back and try and escape the other 2 rooms!

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. My friends and I went to the escape room, thinking that we will be having a great time. $28 a person didn't seem to bad for an hour of fun, so we thought. We got there (hard to find, wasn't very well labeled and had to ask the people next door) and the guy who greeted us was super nice and we were able to get a reservation easily for that day. After coming back we paid and started the escape. We chose the Bank Heist. Good size room, lots of things to look at, but there were things we were told not to touch. We started paying the game and it was going alright, seems like we were gonna have a blast. We saw that there was a box with three holes in it. We reached down into the hole and found a wire. Not that hard to find. I started pulling on it. Thinking it was gonna be a clue. I pulled it out (took me awhile) and saw tape connected to it. It looked like a clue three letters and two numbers, especially because there were a lot of passwords and locks to open. Thinking nothing was wrong, me and my friends continued the game. Found a couple clue then I discovered that the safe was open. I opened it and the alarm went off. Like the cops were coming and we messed up. The guy who helped us had to come and hack into the system to fix the game. Even though the game was broken the guy said we could play, but it still wasn't bad at his point. We got the door to open so we could access the two computers inside. We got the code from the first one fine but when we got to the second one, it was locked, literally locked, the manager forgot to unlock the computer so we could play, we spent 15 mins out of our 60 mins trying to figure out the password. At this time the electrician came and was trying to fix the wires while we were still playing the game (I'd say that is both dangerous and distracting) We wasted our two last clues on it and after 15 mins gone by the guy helping us literally have the code to the lock box because the computer wasn't working for some reason (we didn't know at the time the manager didn't log in yet) We finally got the last "key" to "open" the safe(which was already open). We had 3-4 mins left to receive 6 keys and open 3 safes. Not that easy. We eventually failed and went back to the front desk to be confronted by the manager. He told us that we needed to call our parents or one of them so they could come over and discuss how we are gonna solve the problem of the wires and he broken safe door. He seemed very nice at the beginning and we were very agreeing and i called my mom (being the only one that wasn't at work at the time) my mom came in and looked at the wires and damage that was done. My mom told the manager that she wasn't gonna pay for the wires because one this is an escape room and the wires were easily accessible, and two the wires could've killed me and it was an unsafe place to put them. The manager started yelling at her and they got into a heated argument. The manager told my mom that she had us on camera pulling the wire out which was a lie because the guy helping us told us that if he saw us pulling on the wire then he would've told us to stop and the reason he didn't was because the camera wasn't angled right (another problem). We have pictures of the camera and wires to prove so. Then the manager called the cops (because we wouldn't pay) and told them that we were vandalizing his business and to come over. Also he told us that he never has had a problem like this in this escape room building since it was open but after he left the employee at the front told us that problems happened all the time. She told us, she worked only four shifts there so far and already had seen 5 other problems. We didn't run or yell or try to stop it because we knew the cops would favor us. Then my mom and him got into another argument until my mom stopped talking to him because it was pointless. Then the called her names and was going overboard a lot. He almost call her the B cuss word. But me and my friends had to tell him to stop and surprisingly he did. After going over everything he realized he was wrong so he called off he cops and talked to me and my friends to come up with something. After waiting 30 mins for the electrician to finish he told us to pay him $100. We thought about it and it was either pay $100 and leave now or wait another 2+ hours with him and we'd have to explain to the cops what happened so to just make him happy and for us to leave this place we paid. We got there at 3:30pm for a 1 hour game and left at 5:45pm. This completely ruined our night, we were all in upset moods for the rest of the night and I'm sure all of us will be telling all of our friends, neighbors and everyone never to come to the escape room ever. He managers name is Ali, and I don't know what the front desk guy's name was or the other employees name.
