We brought our eight-year-old twins for a birthday party. We also had their older sister who is 11 and a cousin who's 10 as well as parents and grandparents. The Mad Hatter escape room was fun for all ages! Chris did an amazing job at leading us through the escape room knowing that they were all younger guests. We have done other escape rooms and we were really impressed with both the props and tasks we had to go through as well as the helpfulness of Chris. She really was awesome. I really liked this escape room company compared to others. They seemed more professional and their rooms are great. I've done 3 rooms here. I was disappointed the last time we went in with the service we received while in the room. We were in a difficult room and we only received on free hint. The most troubling thing though was my elderly mom was with us and she needed help with something and we kept asking for help while in the room, but no one came to help. Luckily, we resolved the problem, but I was very disappointed that no one came in when we asked for help. I'm leaving out details so I don't give away their room secrets. read more

They do a great job with their rooms, they're very thematic, and they've built good puzzles that are challenging but achievable. The staff are friendly, and paying attention via camera, they help as needed or when asked. The facility is clean. They do a lot with locks, a suggestion would be for them to come up with ways of getting clues that don't involve opening locks, but that doesn't make it any less fun, just less varied. I've done several rooms. I highly recommend the zoo room for kids, it's just the right difficulty for the recommended age group, and a fun bonding experience for parent and child. We went on a double date to Escape Room Mess and really really really enjoyed it. This was the first time for most of us and it exceeded our expectations. We utilized a Groupon for the Mad Hatter's Tea Party room. Tony K. was an enthusiastic, entertaining and fun game master We were a group of 4 placed with another group of 4 (people we didn't know before this experience). The staff did a good job introducing us so we would feel comfortable working together...but friendly tip: be open minded and an overall good sport about it because it's no fun if you're gonna pout about having to work with strangers to figure the puzzles out (some of these reviews are so brat-ish, Was didn't want to play with someone I didn't know, boo hoo). There is plenty of parking behind the historic building it occupies. Take advantage of the lock tutorials in the lobby and arrive on time. We enjoyed our experience so much that we can't wait to have another date night to make an appointment to return! read more

I've done escape rooms all over the country in 8 different states. I went here for the 2nd time to give this places redemption for the first terrible room "suspects". This time I tried the "cyberpunk" room. This was garbage. Only one person could do something at a time. It was all math (even though they said it was a puzzle room). I felt so rushed in amd out and the people working there are the rudest people ever. We ended up not finishing the room because we gave up, got bored, sat down and decided to not finish it. My fiance hit her head on a ceiling post hanging down illegally. I called in 30 minutes later after we left and all they said is we didnt file a claim and it never happened, even though it was on video. They kept rushing to get us out. I will never go back here and I would recommend people to try other places first if you would like. I dont want people to think that this is how escape rooms are we are 2 for 2 being terrible at this location. read more

We've done a few escape rooms and overall we were impressed with this one. This is a larger facility than many others and has quite a few rooms. The staff was friendly and professional. They made the experience fun. We went as a corporate afternoon out in a group of 9. PROS: Very professional and organized. Facilities were excellent. As I mentioned, the staff were great, and even the mandatory video wasn't bad. CONS: We did the Lost Dutchman room. Although the puzzles were challenging and fun, it seemed as if they could have just as well been done sitting around a table. There were many props in the room, but almost all were decoration rather than key items to be discovered or used. This was a very linear puzzle sequence in which the room itself didn't seem to play a major role. Compared to other rooms which require you to use the props to discover new clues, etc, this room fell short. So, one star off for the room design in what would have otherwise been a 5 star review. PS. We did manage to escape. read more

We used a Groupon for our 1st Escape Room Mesa experience and we're so glad we tried it! From the moment we walked in, until the moment we left, every staff member was awesome! We had a room to ourselves for a family adventure. Some folks had previous experience with escape rooms in other cities, but it didn't make a difference for the room we went through together. We all had an absolute blast working through the clues together & ultimatley we did escape with 54 seconds to spare. Woohoo!! The facility was very clean, bathrooms too! Parking was good, but could use some lighting for night time patrons. We'll be going back with other friends & family for sure!!! read more

Horrible horrible customer service!!! We never actually got to go due to the customer service. I bought Groupons for my two teens to go. We looked over the website throughly to be sure there would be no problems with them being allowed to go. We even took screen shots of every single page of the website to be sure there would be no arguments later. NO WHERE did it mention age limits. Only that kids understand 13 where suggested to have an adult with them. My teens where older than 13. I called to get help on booking the room for my kids to go and was told they were not old enough. I planned on going with and sitting and waiting for them to complete the game which I explained. And had even requested a time that had least amount of people as not to be an inconvenience to anyone else. I explained the situation and the lady I spoke was extremely rude. I tried to compromise and asked for suggestions on how they could participate as the groupon was going to expire and we would be out the money. Was told that was their problem. I explained that it didn't mention age limits online or I would have never purchased. I was then told that I didn't look hard enough and if I could read I would have found. When I said that we had taken screenshots of every page to ensure that we did in fact read it throughly she informed that if it didn't say it it would so it didn't matter. I don't let a lot get to me but this lady actually had me in tears the way she spoke to me and had the nerve to laugh at my frustration. Would never go! read more

The themes for the rooms were fun, but everything had to be done in order, so your whole group has to gather around one clue at a time. This means that people get left out of doing anything since you can only crowd so many people around one thing. And it heavily relied on locks, they had lots of different kinds of locks, but that's not really puzzle solving that's just fighting with locks. The staff was friendly and nice, but this is not the kind of escape room I like. read more

While visiting my middle son and his GF in Gilbert, we were looking for something unusual to do. My youngest thought of an "escape room". Since this one was somewhat near us, and accepting last minute reservations - we thought we would give it a try! They had many rooms to choose from - but since there were 4 of us (on a Tuesday) we thought we would start with a 'starter' room. We did the Captain's Quarters. (definitely can't imagine 6 people in here - it was small) We had a hard time starting as the initiation was not immediately obvious. We received a helpful (no charge) hint and we were off and running! We did use our 3 free hints, but still finished with 10 minutes to spare! It was great fun. Yes they do rely on "locks" of all kinds. What threw us a bit was they stated it was "linear" and once we finished with one clue we were done with it. While that is true... some items had multiple locks and you may open one of the two locks but not both with the clue so it was a bit difficult to keep the flow going. Our "host" was super nice and helpful. Overall - good times! read more

There was only one puzzle which surprised us. Other than that it is all about opening locks one after the other. I couldn't see any creative puzzles like the ones I have seen in other escape rooms. No parallel puzzles to solve as well. read more

We had a group of us retired friends out for an evening and diced to try something new and different. So the bottom line is, if you are good at solving puzzles this will be fun for you. but if you have a hard time without a clear place to start. not so much. So in our group of 14 about a third want to do it again and the rest would rather try something ells. Also we did this on a groupon so it was half price but for the normal price of $25.00 each I would say there is not enough bang for the buck for us fixed income generation. read more
