    Throwing Stars

Tonight was SO much fun! Especially the employee who was working! He did such a great job showing us how to use the axes, knives and stars. The establishment was clean and well taken care of. As I was walking out I told my husband I will definitely be back because we will. Best Axe Throwing establishment!

Not sure where to even begin. Was working in the area. My buddy hit me up to get a drink. We ended up here. Man was this a blast. We probably threw about 6 different axes, 2 knives and some ninja stars. This was an amazing time overall. Will definitely be back.

Had a lot of fun. Keyz was amazing as a host for our group. The only issue I had was that the target paint was a little hard to see on the bullseyes. The room was nice, and the tools were well taken care of. Great time was had by all.

I planned a date activity at Social Axe Throwing for my husband's birthday. Neither of us had ever…read moretried axe throwing before, so we had no idea what to expect...but we ended up having a blast! It was such a fun and unique experience. We arrived on a Tuesday shortly after they opened around 4:15 PM, and we were the only ones there, which worked out perfectly. This may have been why the manager gave us extra attention, showed us how to throw properly, and guided us through three different games. That personal touch really made the experience even better. For two people, I felt that one hour was a good amount of time--though we definitely could've stayed two hours at least if we didn't have other plans. Pricing for one hour is $54, which feels a bit steep, but I was able to snag a deal for $27, which was much more reasonable for a one-hour activity. They also had about five arcade machines set up with free play, so you could easily spend more time there either before or after your axe-throwing session. I didn't realize until after we arrived that they offer food and drinks too...next time, I'd plan for lunch or dinner along with the activity. This place would be great for a team-building event or a group date night. Axe throwing is a bit harder than it looks, but definitely a lot of fun. We enjoyed the different game options, like tic tac toe that made it even more fun. One thing I didn't love: when you arrive, they ask for a credit card to keep on file in case you order food or drinks. Then when we finished and hadn't purchased anything extra, we were asked if we wanted to leave a tip. I found that a little awkward. While the manager was super friendly and helpful (possibly because it was empty--or maybe that's just how they treat all first-timers), I think there should be a better, more subtle way to encourage tipping without putting guests on the spot. I did not let this impact my review.

The staff was super helpful from checking us in, teaching us how to throw, coaching us during our runs, and creating fun games for us to compete against each other during our hour reservation. It was an absolute blast and a great way to hang out and be social & interactive whether on a date or just hanging with friends! It was a super quiet Tuesday night and we had the place to ourselves with only two other bays being used. So if you don't want to fight for space during the busy weekends, I highly recommend coming by on a weeknight!

I've been to The Mighty Axe twice. Ambiance (4/5): This is part of what I love about The Mighty Axe. It has a cabin feel to it. Despite being in Phoenix, you feel like you've been transported to the mountains. There's some seating at the bar as well as some comfortable seating close to a fireplace. The barstools at the bar don't have back support (which is always a con in my book). The music tends to be solid. All in all, a cool spot. And a casual one at that. Service (4/5): The service tends to be friendly, laidback, and efficient. Just like I like it. Food (N/A): I've been on a liquid diet both times, and to be honest, I'm not even sure if they have food. Drinks (3.5/5): Everyone likes different flavor profiles when it comes to cocktails. The Mighty Axe has a solid list, though one that is not super appealing to my taste. Outside of their cocktail list, they have a full bar. The Mighty Axe, if the name didn't give it away, is both a bar and an axe throwing place. While I haven't done any axe throwing, I've checked out the area where it's located (the back of the bar). And there's even one outside on the small patio. Overall, one of my favorite bars on High Street (I live in Desert Ridge so I've frequented pretty much everywhere in the area).
