That's already a problem--people have busy lives and make time for these appointments. After finally being called up, I was told they didn't accept my insurance. This was confusing because: * They did accept my insurance at my previous appointment with a massage therapist at this facility. * My insurance shows they are contracted with this provider. * I had an authorization with their office name on it, which insurance companies do not issue unless the provider is in-network. If my insurance "wasn't accepted," that should have been flagged at the time of booking, or at the very least, someone should have followed up with me before the appointment, not after I had driven over 45 minutes and waited to be seen. When I asked the front desk why I wasn't notified, they just said "I don't know," and walked away. That kind of dismissive attitude is completely unprofessional. Patients reschedule things, take time off work, spend gas money--this is not something you casually brush off. The owner later claimed it was an issue "between me and my insurance," but that's not accurate. My insurance does cover services at this facility. The issue is that the office failed to inform me that, for whatever reason, they decided they wouldn't honor that. That miscommunication is on them, not my insurance. The owner also suggested I "pay out of pocket next time to avoid these nightmares." Not only is that tone incredibly insensitive, it completely misses the point. Many patients can't afford to pay out of pocket--that's why they have insurance. And this situation wasn't a financial misunderstanding--it was about transparency and respect. Lastly, when I brought up the 30-minute delay, they said it was because they were "fighting with my insurance to cover the visit." But again, that's something your office should do before the patient arrives, not during their appointment time. And frankly, that's part of the administrative process that every medical office handles--this isn't the first time I've been to a provider, and no one has ever treated it this way. Another thing, the whole time I was waiting, I could hear the staff and no one was on the phone with insurance.... All in all, I left without getting the care I needed, wasted time, money, and energy, and felt incredibly disrespected as a patient. I don't recommend this office.

I had one 1on1 therapy session and the lady Tracy made me feel so uncomfortable, mocking me and speaking down on me, telling me to put my big girl pants on. When she saw I was uncomfortable she said "sorry, we like to laugh here" very unprofessional seeing as I had just joined rehab and obviously my life is not great. Apparently they had issues with my TRICARE insurance. Tricare is one of the best insurance. It's government insurance. The lady Nora said my insurance covers everything, and I can even check in the next day. So I flew in from out of state, 3 flights later, with my 1 year old son. I stayed for a week. I called Nora to give some feedback on my experience this morning, she then replied "so are you leaving today?" I said no, my insurance said it'll be 2-3 days for the new referral to go in but I will be looking for a new facility. She says okay. She was very defensive the whole call and made excuses for everything, even trying to blame me for the insurance issue. that's your responsibility lady! Next thing I know I got pulled into the office saying if insurance isn't fixed today I have to leave today. I packed my belongings and left within 30 minutes. They did not give me the opportunity to find a new location, they did not give me any grace, and did not care about me at all. Point blank. This is very serious for me seeing as I left my baby son to fix my life, and they kicked me out before I could figure out my next moves KNOWING my insurance would cover the costs. The way they handled things is shameful. And I would really reconsider if you've been thinking of this place. All we do is read a page off a book, reflect and share. Absolutely no 1/1. No depth. No finding solutions or understanding the trauma that led me here. They claim to do yoga and meditation, except they don't. Apparently no staff, Maybe that should have been mentioned! The website does NOT reflect this "facility". They gave me so much medication, 3 times a day, and when I mentioned I was constipated and had rectal bleeding the response was "idk, I'm not a nurse. You can buy something from Amazon" like wtf? This place was the absolute worst first experience. You get your own room, and you have a nice back yard but that's about it! I wouldn't recommend this facility for a patient that requires significant help or has mild cognitive impairment. Post stroke she was wheel chair bound and required assistance for everything. In summary: Dr. B was excellent. Thoughtful, problem solving mindset and treated patient and family with respect, and some humor when appropriate. Rehab Team: Competent and caring. Speech. OT AND PT good therapists. Management: Poor. All patients receive 2 consecutive days with no therapy. That is 2 days isolated in your hospital room with no activities. This is truly detrimental to the healing process. In my experience this exasperated anxiety and feelings of isolation, reversing progress made during the week, disturbing sleep cycles and recovery. It's very important if you are considering this location for a loved one that you reflect on this. Your loved one will be sitting in a hospital bed for two consecutive days with no interaction except a nurse popping in to check on them briefly. Of course family can visit and we did, however it is not a substitute for professional engagement. This workaround that administrators have finagled to ensure patients hit the certain hours required while limiting weekend staffing is absolutely horrible and very transparent in their motives. Nursing Staff: Very inconsistent and overall not good. Didn't appear in alignment with goals of therapy. I didn't feel safe most of the time with the quality of care my mom was receiving. Not all the time, there were a few standouts that were excellent, but overall very lacking. I share this info. so if you're considering this facility you know what to expect. And with hopes that administrators will make changes for future patients. When searching for a rehab facility I admit I was influenced by the the gold star ratings from outside organizations, but after my loved one's experience, I realize this is more a reflection of savvy administrators working to get accolades from governing bodies vs. true gold star care.

During that time, our family has experienced our share of hospitals and rehabilitation facilities. In our experience, Ocean View Post Acute stands apart. Never before have we seen such a strong partnership between Physical Therapy and Nursing. They make something incredibly difficult look easy. And we know firsthand that it is anything but. Our mom is a vulnerable 88-year-old navigating a difficult journey. The staff are responsive, attentive, and compassionate. They visibly slow down for her when she needs it, speak to her with dignity and respect, and encourage her while continuing to push her toward her goals. They do this even on the busiest days, when it is clear they are working hard to meet the needs of everyone in their care. No group of people is perfect, and neither is Ocean View. But what we see every day is the striving. The teamwork. The professionalism. The humanity. We don't know whether Mom will ultimately recover from her trauma. But what we do know is that Ocean View is giving her the best opportunity to do so. And in the end, that's all any family can ask of the people entrusted with the care of someone they love.
