We heard from friends that this place always has a long wait and is only alright. So, we kept our expectations low. The wait was long even at 2:30, but it was easy to pass the time looking around the store. We ordered the blackened chicken cheese fries as an appetizer. The fries were sooo dang good and a large portion! My wife got the turkey melt and I got the marinated chicken sandwich. We split the 2 sandwiches. Both sandwiches were great! We had enough leftovers for take home for dinner since we filled up on cheese fries. The server was very nice as well. We HIGHLY enjoyed the food and had no need to keep low expectations. Their decor is over the top--think old school Americana with the neon signs, old car signs, flags, and a bunch of their own custom artwork with Joe himself grinning ear to ear. It's a lively and fanciful place to be. When in Stillwater, we love to come to Joe's for the experience. I would give them the highest score in the making memories department; few other restaurants in Stillwater can compete. We've been fortunate to have good service and we have enjoyed our meals, albeit, far from gourmet, but certainly tasty and abundant. They serve standard American fare (burgers, hot dogs, all things chicken, soups, salads, sandwiches) at reasonable prices. On our most recent visit they offered us complimentary pickles and ranch sauce soon after we sat down. Hmmm...not sure about it...?-neither was I. But turns out I really like the combo! One of the best place I have visited since being here in Stillwater Oklahoma. The food was deliciously good, service was quick and the atmosphere was awesome. I'm a bacon type of person so, I had to order the sweet pepper bacon BLT and it was definitely the most delicious bacon sandwich I have ordered. Coleslaw was okay. The cheese fries WOW they were great! We purchased a hoodie and a shirt at the clothing area. Such a great dinner. This place deserves more than 5 stars. In my opinion, it is the best restaurant in the state Oklahoma with the best food and the best staff. Upon my arrival, I was told that the wait time was going to be 2 hours to get a table for my brother and I. We decided to go ahead and wait as I was really looking forward to their world famous cheese fries, which are a must if you come here. Instead of 2 hours, we were seated 20 minutes later The vibe here is amazing, opening as a bar and later becoming a full restaurant and gift shop. Party of 9! Seated after a 20 min wait when we were quoted 30-35.... Eskimo Joe's- Already winning in my perspective. We toured the t-shirts goodies shop attached and stayed very cool and even had a seat with the pager in hand. The host staff was smiling and very kind! I then thought to myself if I haven't been here since 1996 before a football game...I might as well have an adult beverage. So to the bar I went for a ice cold Miller Lite draft. the service at the bar was lightning fast and smiling with my beer I was now quenching the thirst! Pager goes off and we are placed in the section of Raynan whom I think was the perfect fit for our family! The kids & adult drinks came out accurate - the cheese fries (3) orders were on the way! The cheese fries were a hit with the family.... goodness there was none left afterwards... hungry bunch. I took advantage of ordering the blackened chicken breast with fries and sauteed mushrooms and hit a home run! (Fries) weren't hot but our awesome server quickly fixed that. We ordered loaded cheese fries. It was good. Bacon was on point. We also had the ham and bacon Sammy. It was a wet sandwich. Thought the bread was too thin to handle the moisture. Really cute staple on OSU's campus. Very clean!!! The restaurant and the bathrooms too! The food was great. They are know for the cheese fries and trust me you HAVE to try them. So good! Ours had blackened chicken and jalapeños and I love it. I got a cowboy class burger. The burgers are plenty big and plenty delicious. Very filling. Next time I go I'll have to try the chili dog. We all know Joe's is a Stilly staple and with good reason. Got to take my hubs for the first time recently on a game day and what I love most about this place is how consistently delicious the food is even on insanely busy days like game day. We sat at the bar and had great service that was super quick for both food and drinks. Obviously get bacon cheese fries because OMG and can I just say how good their ranch is, I'm kind of a ranch snob I feel like and this one is just so good. Love this place! A little over hype but if you've never been you should go. If you get a server named Dennis maybe request a new table or maybe he got better. Famous for their sweet pepper bacon cheese fries and cold beer! I love the Elm street fowl thing! The Turkey melt is also amazing! If you are a burger person, the cowboy burger is really good too! If you are in Stillwater especially if you are there checking out OSU, You must stop by. Even if it's just for one of their cheese fries. The service is great. They don't take reservations so make sure to have one of your party members get there first. They get really busy sometimes. Thursday through Saturday they turn into a bar at 10pm. They have a late night menu with $3 shots and discounted bar food. Don't be surprised if you run across an OSU sports member. We came to Stillwater for a weekend get-a-way and our only for sure thing was to go to Eskimo Joe's! Our wait was not as bad as it looked when we pulled up, but there was only 2 of us. We killed our time by looking through the gift shop....yes, i did buy a t-shirt to remember our trip... We were seated up stairs and it was nice since we were kind of in our own area. We definitely wanted the famous bacon cheese fries, but the waitress told us the Sweet Bacon Cheese Fries was the most popular, so we tried that instead. They were wonderful. The cheese was a little "cooled off" so it was not as soft as it could have been, but the flavor was excellent. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger and the waitress asked if I wanted lettuce and tomato on it.....kinda strange for a mushroom swiss burger I thought.....I passed. The flavor of the burger itself was excellent! The mushrooms had just enough seasoning to add to the taste. The side of baked beans looked a little disappointing based on the small bowl size it was served in (I would have liked a slightly larger serving), but the flavor of the beans was top notch. They had a slight hint of jalepeno, but it was not as spicy as a jalepeno...just had a wonderful flavor. I would have given 4-1/2 stars if i could, but of course I can't...lol. Drove from OKC to try this restaurant. We waited and hour to get seated but the appetizers of onion rings and sweet peppered cheese fries, were just disgusting delicious. It's the first time I can remember my family eating everything on the appetizers order. The family ordered a black bean veggie burger, blackened chicken dinner and a sweet peppered bacon and cheese burger with Caesar salad. Just delicious and the chocolate shake for dessert made the trip worth while. My personal rating is I would give it a two forks up and would drive the 45 minutes to get another awesome meal. I got the open face burger and I can happily say I was happy I got this. The burger meat was perfect and the chili was as just plain good.. if they threw some bbq in the chili that would probably take it up a notch but I would say the same for the baked beans. Seems like they were standard beans... they need to add a bit of bbq awesomeness to kick them up a bit. Or something... I have had these same brand at a few different bbq joints... sad when they don't finish the job. They burger was supposed to have mushrooms and bacon on it and they missed that.. so they lost a star on my books bc reading must be hard and the food was just ok. If I could off r a half it would get the half but can't. Our waitress Amber was awesome and seemed to stop by at the right time everything. Was in town for a tournament and visited twice. Friendly but too busy for proper service. The food was decent and well priced. Cheese fries with candied bacon was amazing and the blackened chicken was very good. Twice they forgot the pineapple and the side of sauce that's supposed to come with the chicken. After giving the server our credit card he added 2 drinks that hadn't been on the check when he delivered the bill. He added the drinks, charged them as 'doubles'' which added $30 to the bill. If they'd work on their burgers a bit, this place could really be back to its glory, but it's slowly been going downhill for a while. We came here on a Sunday night around 7:30, it was a 15 minute wait. We were seated within 15 minutes. I think Phil was our server and he was super helpful. We started with the sweet peppered bacon cheese fries. They were served with a side of jalapeños, and ranch. They were really good My daughter has the pecan smoked pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. The meat was moist and flavorful. The smoke was present but not over smoked. The pasta on the mac and cheese was al dente and the sauce was creamy. My wife and I decided to split a Frito chili pie and the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side salad. The Frito pie was corn chips, chili, cheese topped with diced tomatoes, onions and jalapeños. I thought it was good, my wife thought the cheese should have been melted. The buffalo chicken sandwich was a grilled chicken breast with buffalo sauce on the bun. If they would have tossed the chicken in the sauce I think it would have been better. Overall the food was a 3 but our server was great and this review should be 4.5 stars. Leaving town tomorrow but glad we came here. read more

I guess Eskimo Joe's is a Stillwater institution, but I can't say I totally get why. I came here for lunch one day to check it out. I liked the overall atmosphere but the food didn't do much for me. For the most part, I thought everything was just okay. The cheese fries are just fries with melted cheese, and I don't really see what the fuss is (though there are options to get it with some different meats). The onion rings are okay. The black bean burger is nothing special, nor are the regular fries. They did provide an abundance of ranch dipping sauce, which is nice I suppose? The only thing that stood out to me was the milkshake - at the time I went their seasonal was Nutella, and that was divine. I'd come back if only to get another shake, but at this point I don't see myself craving much else from here. The experience wasn't awful by any means, but I think I was so underwhelmed this first time that I forgot to check out the merchandise. read more
