I tried to get my dog Geoffrey into this Doggie Day Care facility. It was an unbelievable…read moreexperience. The first day I called, they asked what breed he was and how old was he. I told them he's a German Shepherd and I didn't know exactly how old he was as he was a rescue. She said they'd call me back. They didn't. So I called again the next day and the girl on the other end started asking the same questions. I told her I'd already been through that. She told me I'd have to get a letter of reference from whatever shelter or rescue he came from. This seemed odd as I never had to do this with my other dog, also a rescued German Shepherd, at this place or at Wags and Wiggles in Tustin, CA or at Camp Bow Wow in New Orleans. I've never heard of this being a requirement ANYWHERE. So I called the director of German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County, and she shot off an email outlining his background and attesting to his sterling character that same day and which I forwarded to them immediately. So the next day I waited. And waited. At 1PM I called them. I told the girl they had received the required reference email. She told me that the manager hadn't read her email yet. Say what??? How would the girl behind the counter know whether or not the manager in her office had read her email? And it was 1PM and they open at 7AM. So again I was blown off. I suspected that this was a case of discrimination. So I called a friend and asked her to call and say she wanted to put her dog in their day care. I told her to tell them what I had told them except say her dog was a Golden Retriever. She did and the girl told her they'd be happy to set up an appointment right then and there. Infuriated, I called again and said I wanted to speak with the manager. The girl said: "Oh...this is Claire... " I said yes this is Claire and I want to speak to the manager!!! She put me on hold for about 5 minutes. Then the manager came on and said that she had received the email from GSROC and told me we could come in for our "evaluation" at noon the following Thursday. I'm thinking they believed requiring a letter of reference from a shelter or rescue would stop me dead in my tracks. Most public shelters are too big and busy to do this. Probably many rescues as well. They didn't bank on GSROC being as classy and professional as they are or that I volunteered with them for years. So now after all of this hassle and marching into a brick wall, I canceled our "evaluation" appointment. They only gave it to me because they knew I wasn't going to let it rest, and it's likely they'd reject my dog regardless over whatever preconceived prejudicial issues they obviously have. Shortly after, I took Geoffrey to Paws Plaza. No appointment was necessary. He was welcome anytime. They do an "integration" with new dogs which I'm sure is much like Santa Fe Tail's "evaluation" but it just sounds more accurate and less pompous. The people were very nice, he passed with flying colors and had a great time. I was very impressed with this place! Dealing with Santa Fe Tails had been such a negative experience. I would never do business or entrust my dogs to them again. And as far as Joey P.'s worn out rebuttal to their many negative reviews: "SF Tails does not feel Yelp is the most productive platform for communication and encourage all of our clients, current or potential, to interact with us directly so we can continue to cultivate a positive experience." I DID interact directly which is precisely WHY it was such a bad experience!

She probably wouldn't have been here tomorrow. Jacqueline, who helped us pre-adopt, told us that she had received calls about her. Emma Took her outside so we can get acquainted with her. I lost one of my pups a few months back and my other is lonely. I've been looking for another pup and decided to check out the facility. This new center is really nice, there is a ton of parking as it is kinda out there on its own. It is located about five minutes from El Modelo, just head south on 2nd from Bridge and it is super easy to find. They have a check in system and are trying to maintain social distancing by limiting capacity. You check in and then are free to walk through and meet the dogs and/or cats. If you see one you'd like to spend more time with, you just tell them and you can interact with them further. I found that they had some really great dogs and I could see they had a good amount of cats too. I met a really cute pup named Luna and even brought my pup to meet her but had some concerns, mainly how much larger he is than she was. Anyways, definitely recommend checking them out!

Would give zeros stars if I could. I called this animal shelter in hopes of adopting a kitten I saw…read moreon their website! The kitten was in a litter of 3, and as I was calling, they informed me that one kitten was getting adopted but if strawberry was still left behind, i could come the next day to pick him up. I said perfect we will drive from out of state to come get him as he is my dream kitten and potential emotional support animal. The lady gave me her personal cell phone number and kept close contact updating me frequently. Strawberry was left behind and I was told that I could pick him up the next day Before I travel all the way over state lines, I confirm one more time that Strawberry would be coming home TODAY. And I was told "yes" and they removed Strawberry from their site so he could not be adopted. Not once did they tell me that there were any restrictions on Strawberry. So I leave work early sacrificing my job, and drove multiple hours to Taos. Once I arrive I am taken to the back by an employee who has a Nicotine vape in her hand. As a Veterinary Technician I was absolutely disgusted and saddened by this and was determined to get the kitten and leave. Once I am shown Strawberry I confirm that he is $95. Once I ask, the lady told me they would like to see both kittens of the litter be taken home today. I explained to her my situation and explained I was never told that they were needing to go together. And when asked if the kittens were even bonded, they said no. They then proceeded to tell me that strawberry was unfit for me and i could look at other cats. It was then that I explained to this employee that their lack of communication was very disappointing as I was told multiple times that Strawberry would go home today. The employee kept cutting me off saying that nobody there had told me he was able to go home today. I told the employee she is extremely unprofessional as she is cutting me off, and raising her voice at me making me extremely uncomfortable, and waving a vape in my face. At that time she told me that I was unacceptable. I told her that I would not be recommending this shelter to anyone as this experience as a whole was appalling. Between the disrespect, lack of professionalism and the safety hazards I witnessed today I will be calling their manager Monday as soon as they open, as well as making a report to the New Mexico State Animal Welfare Department. Addiction is sad, I hope the employee gets the help she needs! (Since then both Strawberry and his sister were taken off the site, hopefully the foster lady who witnessed this monstrosity decided to save the cats from these awful people)
