Whatever you do, do not sign up for personal training at LA Fitness in Blasdell. The employees there only care about getting you to sign up for your money. They will not put in any effort towards communicating with you about your health goals unless you are physically at the location and ask them to do their job. Sessions are only 25 min long, not enough time to actually get knowledgeable information or a full workout in. Not when their prices don't go below $200+ dollars a month. You sign up for X amount of months but if you don't cancel in person after those months and have them do it in front of you, they will keep charging you with NO REFUND or services. Management is very poor, and so is the communication between the employees there. I talked to several employees there about canceling my membership for a week and when I finally spoke to a manager, they never received that message. There are way better gyms out there with better and more personable employees. Also, they didn't have a trainer that could work with my schedule for over a month and did nothing about it, I had to switch my schedule around so I could at least get something out of this Personal training that I over paid for. read more

Hailey was super helpful and accommodating. I came in to use the facilities for a few days from out of town and she was quick to get me setup and started. The gym had everything I needed. The facilities were clean and inviting. Would highly recommend! If there was an LA Fitness near me or I lived in the area, I would definitely become a member! read more

I've come to the conclusion that people just like to complain about gyms, perhaps to justify why they don't go? This is a nice facility. Perfect? Not at all. But it's a solid value given the price. Things had gotten better at Esporta, used to be LA Fitness. After covid, they finally had regular classes. I liked this club because it had a whirlpool. Recently they announced they are closing both the pool and the whirlpool. They claim that the company doesn't own that area and that they have no control. So, if you have joined and expected to use these, you are out of luck. Everything else you can find at a different health club and pay much less. I'm disappointed by them AGAIN. read more

Terrible experience with personal training group as of the 4 sessions I have done all started late as trainers not ready and in 2 cases the trainer shortened the session lower than contracted time despite my being there prior to scheduled start time. When I signed up was told could cancel after 1 month however now learned not true and after 4 months. BEWARE: This place is a huge SCAM! I came here with my insurance providers wellness card and payed over $300 for a full years subscription. They have since taken that money and been billing an additional $19.99 from my checking account in addition to that payment each month. The contract you sign to become a member is designed to drain your account whether or not you even visit. This corporation and the people working there are predatory billing clients and when you call, they bounce you from one location to another in hopes you get frustrated and hang up. La Fitness has everything you may need! Whether you are a fitness buff, trying to lose weight or just someone who wants to play basketball or swim in the pool. There is a sauna, a large cardio area upstairs, weight machines and free weights. There are two class areas, one for spinning and the other for workout classes. It really is an all inclusive facility, and everything is so clean! Each cardio machine has it's own tv so you can plug in your headphones and watch whatever you want. My only concern with this location is the tiny personal training area. You can only fit two trainers and two clients if you are lucky. Other than that, I would highly recommend this gym! read more

Lockers and showers not cleaned for weeks at a time. Pool down frequently for weeks at a time and Exporta takes no responsibility, saying they don't run the pool a sub-contractor does. I pay Esporta, not the sub-contractor and it is Esporta which is responsible to provide the service I pay for. If their contractor is not performing satisfactorily then they need to take responsibility and change sub-contractors. read more

The Esporta franchise is a total joke. Gym is overcrowded and dirty. Why? Because it costs next to nothing to join and you get what you pay for. Corporate hasn't figured out yet that it would be better to have 10 serious members paying $100/mo than 100 yahoos paying $10/month. Since writing a previous review, this has only gotten worse. The restrooms are treated like port-a-johns at a tailgate. There is toilet paper and paper towels all over the ground. People go to the bathroom on the ground so it physically smells! Most paper towel holders do not have paper towels and the soap dispensers do not have soap. It is a sanitary condition that is disgusting. I have never seen a custodial staff do regular cleaning and that is disturbing. This is especially disappointing for being a gym in a nice area! They need to step it up. read more

Compared to the downtown location this one is out of a dream but it does have it's issues. The equipment has been kept clean and well maintained since they brought on new staff. Compared to how it was a few months ago the bathrooms are decent. The staff is a toss up you either get you the nicest people who are just genuinely friendly. Other times you get staff that are critical about what you are doing, pushing you to upgrade your membership for no reason, and I have seen them damage equipment by not properly using it. They still haven't fixed the spa it's always cold. This one used to be my favorite but I prefer the Cheektowaga or Southgate locations more as of recently. read more

Erie County mandates a mask at all times when in the gym. It's a joke here and you can get away without one here without a problem. I have seen people told to wear a mask by personnel and as soon as the employee walks away , it is goes off. There are very clever styles of mask wearing here such as nose uncovered or my favorite, under the chin. Why bother because there are no consequences Also if you are a treadmill fan, be prepared to be entertained by personal phone conversations that you can clearly hear by your fellow treadmill users. i think anything goes here and all they care about are more members read more

LA Fitness is a great gym overall. I would be giving it 5 stars for the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, nice bathrooms, and facilities overall, BUT, I am pretty upset about the fact that my expensive sneakers were STOLEN out of the locker room, and the staff were so unhelpful and couldn't care less to help. I mean, who steals used sneakers?! It's supposed to be a nice gym, but obviously there is some riff-raff coming, because normal people do not steal sneakers. read more

Visiting Buffalo, NY for a few days and decided to get a Guest Pass to LA Fitness while I'm in town. When I called, I spoke with Bob Miller. Not only was he incredibly helpful, but he took time to personally call and follow up with me after my first day of visiting LA. Thank you to Bob and the team at this LA location for their attention to customer service. Definitely recommend this location to anyone who may be in town for a few days. read more

The gym is always way too hot. They never put the air conditioning on and when they do you can't even feel it. They don't realize how hot you get while you work out, especially up in the cardio section. Bathrooms also need a little more attendance. read more

I like how clean this facility is. You always see someone cleaning. They have sooo many different machines too. And this is one of the only gyms by me that has a sauna. It's slightly pricey though. The staff here is absolutely horrible though. Like they won't acknowledge you when you walk in the door. My first day here I asked where the locker room was and they rolled their eyes. Overall, Its a nice gym, new equipment, nice facilities, and some good classes. However I'm rating them 2 stars for a few reasons. 1. When I initially went to check it out, they pulled the whole it's only going to be 29.99 per month for another week and then the price is going to go up... which it did not. My bad I guess, I let my scarcity bias get the best of me. 2. The sales person also told me they were going to be starting boxing classes "in a week or two". They never offered any type of boxing class, he lied to make the sale. 3. Now that I've found a better (boxing) gym, I've decided to cancel. I went in last week to cancel and they told me I would either have to come back when the OM is in, or log into their website print a cancelation sheet and then send it to corporate through the mail. Sooo I came back today, when the OM was in, and told him I wanted to cancel my membership. He said, "no problem" and printed me out a sheet of paper, handed it to me, and told me to send this through the mail to corporate. This blew my mind. I've been to business school, and I know precisely what they are doing. Generally, people that are quitting the gym are inherently lazy. Therefore, LAF is betting that a large percent of people will either forget about sending this, not bother with it at all, or take their sweet time sending it out. What this means is that the aggregate of their consumers will probably maintain their membership for another 4-6 weeks (i'm estimating) on average and therefore slightly increase their net revenue by squeezing another 29.99(or more) out of their customers. This tactic is pretty shady, and their people are shady. I won't be back. On the other hand I know a high school kid that just walks in whenever he wants without a membership. So at least he got something out of my membership. read more

Dirty. They have cleaning staff that never cleans. Crappy managers that are never around. They make it very hard to quit once you have signed up. Manager ducks out all the time. The Personal Training is a Bait and Switch. Once you Sign the contract good luck getting what you paid for. They will take a payment of 6 months upfront to release you from the contract. This is a nice facility. Good equipment, nice pool, and sauna. I'm rating this so low because of the staff. There is no regard for gym members at all. A recent example, I was told that I could not use the hot tub on a Tuesday. They have a sign with the drain dates posted as Wednesday and Sunday. I can understand cleaning it on another day, but if you're going to do that post a sign informing people. They also neglect repairs. One stairmaster was "scheduled for service" for six months. The men's sauna was down and a sign was posted saying it would be about two weeks. It took six weeks before it was opened. I am shopping for a new gym. The amenities are nice. Howevet, when they are randomly gone for weeks or on odd days, then do me no good. read more

At 34.99 it is way overpriced for what they offer, but they have terrible customer service and treat their guests terribly. My brother and I have been signed up with them for years on and off, so paying 70 bucks/month and we got 5 2 week guest passss when signing up. When I brought a friend to use one of my guest passes they tried to solicit 15 dollars from me and said that I don't have any gues passes. After proving to them that I did they wouldn't let him in unless I paid up or presented his id which wasn't on him. I asked just to let him in as a courtesy and they became super obnoxious with me as if I was asking for a hand out and absolutely refused. The Vice President Brad was not helpful at all and tried to talk down to me by using some childish analogy and was very rude. This is the fourth occasion when they conducted themselves in such an obnoxious manner with me and it reflects the gyms overall terrible customer service and relationship with their clients. All other gyms have much better service and treat their guests like valued members and develop relationships with them and offer all the same stuff for half the price. Don't sign up at this gym. This is the biggest scam going!! I I signed up for a personal trainer and my first guy Tom L was great! Then I got assigned to some idiot Bryan B after Tom L left. I could never get scheduled with him. He was ignorant with his swearing all the time and pushing me to hard to the point of injury. I then was being reassigned to another "trainer" who never called me back! I called to complain and they charged me to break my remaining contract!! I'm at member st La fitness in Blasdell. I prefer to take group exercise classes. Well come to find out the heating and air conditioning are controlled by a computer in Texas. So if the room gets to warm to bad it can't be cooled off by turning up the air. Also the manager can not resolve any heating or lighting issues because everything is controlled by the computer in Texas. The members have been complainng over a month to try and get the temperature issue resolved but everything has to go thru the corporate office. Well let's hope that we don't get any 80 degree days in April because they won't be able to turn the heat off and air on. Wouldn't it be much easier to let each club manage there own heat and lighting to resolve individual clubs needs. I would never recommend anyone joining a club that can not control the temperature in there own facility. Think twice before your sign up at an La fitness. They look good but are managed very poorly. read more

The gym itself is nice enough. It is new so how can it not be? I was going in the am before work so I would regularly get there by 6am, workout, shower and go to work. Some mornings the papertowels would not be refilled and since switching from BAC there are no available towels. The hand sanitizers would often be empty, and when I would complain to the front desk the employees would tell me the cleaning guy wasnt in. Really? Just fill the towels. Alot of the time the TV's attached to the cardio equipment didn't work right or they only got 2 or 3 channels. In the womens locker room there would be hair in the drains or the shower stalls would be clogged and fill with water when you shower. This was NOT every visit, but for a new gym I don't feel like these should be issues at all. The WORST part about LA Fitness is thier membership cold calls. My membership is expiring this month (August 2015). I have been recieving "reminder" calls since JUNE. I often would get 2-3 calls a day asking me to review the new promotions they are "excited" to offer. The first few times I kindly asked the person on the other end to remove my number as I didn't want to get the calls...then I got annoyed. When they called I would make it a point to answer, explain my dilema and they would swear not to call anymore. The next day it would start all over again. This alone is more than enough for me to NOT renew my membership with LA Fitness! It is beyond aggravating! I have gotten over 30 calls asking to renew my membership even after asking COUNTLESS times not to be bothered anymore. UGH! Make it stop! read more
