I'm so sick of this place! It just gets worse and worse! Dirty, broken machines everywhere and they NEVER fix them! It's unbearably hot upstairs where the cardio machines are. You will be dripping sweat and not from your workout. The pool has been shut down for over a year - pretty sure it won't be returning. The worst gym I have ever been to! The only reason I'm giving LA Fitness 2 stars is because of the convenient location. Otherwise, the gym is consistently dirty, the machines are often broken or out of service, and the ventilation is awfullllll. It feels stuffy, stinky and uncomfortable. This was The Best place, especially for the jacuzzi !! BUTttttt the jacuzzi was diwn off and on all fall of 2024 AND DOWN !!! SINCE JAN 2025!!! What about us with back injuries??? This gym is a mess at all times. I was going here out of convenience for about 2 months. The place itself is always a mess, dumbbells are never racked properly if at all, people sit on machines they aren't using, toilets are clogged, and no one ever wipes machines/equipment down after use. There is 0 gym etiquette here. Also, the staff has stopped me multiple times when checking in asking me a few questions as if I don't pay monthly to use the gym. Honestly it's a ghetto gym I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. It is definitely not LA Fitness as a whole it is the location itself. read more

Despite the number of 1-star reviews, we figured we'd give this place a chance. Signed up for a tour, and the person who was supposed to give the tour left early for the day. The remaining staff were basically inexperienced and helpless. This would explain why the entire facility was a mess and basically filled with millennials who didn't care about clean equipment or mask mandates (an attempted selling point to us was "you don't really have to wear your mask, just near your face.") We couldn't leave fast enough. Very disappointing that owners/managers of this facility think this is even an acceptable level of quality in an otherwise upscale shopping location. read more

I exercise here about 4 times a week. Here are my thoughts. The good: 1. The classes are great! I usually take a class when I go. Spin with Kelly and Raymond are challenging but a lot of fun. Body sculpt with Erin and katelyn are killer workouts. But Zumba is unbeatable with Jose and Kasey ( and I definitely can't dance; it's totally a judgement free zone). I am sure the other classes are good as well but I haven't taken them so I can't speak about the instructors. Sometimes a good class can be a double edge sword, they fill up fast leaving very little room or no spin bikes. 2. The sauna! The bad: 1. Could be cleaner, particularly the machines and the lockers. 2. The staff is more interested in signing up new members than keeping current members happy. 3. What you signed up for in your contract isn't necessarily what you are going to get. For instance, I paid extra up front so I would have a lowere monthly payment and so that if anyone in my family wanted to sign up they wouldn't have to pay the activation fee and would pay the same monthly rate as me. Well, a year and a half later that is no longer true. I'll still be going there for now because I enjoy the classes, but there is room for improvement here. read more

SO, I quit the gym today after giving it eight months. Though the facility is new, and slightly better than Planet Fitness, it is still horribly run. The locker rooms are new, but frequently dirty. The weights are literally spread all around the facility. Never more than 1/2 of the dumbells on the rack, and never in the right place. It's spacious, but the oddest thing is this: They have perhaps ten barbell racks. But they only have 3-4 bars. This is insane. I have been mentioning this to the manager for months, and she says that she's aware, and that they're on it. Just checked on Amazon and they're $150 each. The club 6-7 short. It renders more than half of their weightlifting stations unusable! Staff does little to maintain the place. Anyway, I just switched to a University gym that has Community Memberships for only a little more than LA Fitness, and the place is spotless and lovely. Don't know why I waited so long. read more

I can comment only on the one fitness class I took on a whim (my daughters are members of the LA LA Fitness clubs and wanted a class. There weren't any of interest in the PVD location this morning so we came here). Lisa ran a challenging boot camp with abs class today. Excellent workout, but it might have been helpful to have more instructions for those of us in the back who couldn't really she get when we were on the floor/mats. And some clearer, more explicit modifications were needed for the many students struggling with the balance work toward the end. I used the restroom. It wasn't filthy, as other reviewers said - but paper products were scarce. Based on what I saw I'm trying the PVD branch, and likely joining. read more

I have been going to this gym for the past 3+ years. I love the location but it's just gotten dirty. This morning's work out was the last straw for me. Walked in as the doors opened for the day to a complete mess again. Nothing put back from the night before. I stopped going here in August. So many reasons why any other gym is better. I belonged to the gym for 6 months. In those 6 months, I think all stair master machines were in working order for maybe a week? I found dirty underwear in the bathroom. Gross. The water fountains were out of order plenty of times. And the worst of course, are the people who hang around the squat racks and talk more than they squat. The gym is just too busy. You can't even work out and when you try to switch up your routine because it is too busy, the machines don't even work. Not worth 30 dollars a month. Save your money and motivation for a place you can actually work out in. read more

LA Fitness in Cranston is a great club. It is clean and has great equipment and staff.

Cycle spinning bikes need straps!!! They need either repair (they are twisted or knotted) or have no straps on them at all. Not everyone has cycle shoes so no straps can cause serious injury to a member. This has been reported to management multiple times by multiple members. It causes frustration for many members. Its the topic of conversation in the cycle room!! It's a very inexpensive fix to satisfy the members but no attempt has been made for repairing them. It has been a long time that this has been ignored. This is completely unacceptable! Towers are broken. Many pieces of cardio equipment have signs on them stating they are not usable. Members are leaving due to neglect of repairs. read more

This LA fitness is in a great location in Garden City plaza with all the shops and Whole Foods nearby. That said, the gym is like lipstick on a pig. It has an initial look of cleanliness and glamour, but get to know it and it's a bit filthy. There is a definitely smell to this gym that is stronger than other ones I've been too, especially in the women's locker room. It seems like they do a bad job keeping the cleanliness up with sheer volume of people that come here. The showers are not cleaned enough. Still, I love the pool and hot tub. I've never had a problem finding a machine, even during peak hours after work or weekend mornings. read more

I've never seen so many one star ratings from a gym in my life. I judge most of them to be 90% factual from what I have seen. Bottom line... the parent company Pure Gym, the subsidiary LA Fitness down to the manager of the individual gyms do not give a rats behind about what you think. Numbers are all that matters. Oh yeah, if you want to be a trainer you can pay LA hundreds of dollars to magically become a trainer over a weekend. What an insulting money grab and such a disservice to the client and the person who thinks they are now a qualified fitness trainer. Please find another deserving gym if you can. My previous review is very outdated as most of my favorite instructors have left. I've been a member for over two years, but stopped taking their cycle classes about a year ago. I now go to a different studio for cycling and it is so much better. The only instructors I really enjoy here are Dee and Lisa. Dee's body works class on Sunday morning is the best class you can take. It's very challenging and you walk away knowing you got a great workout. I've mentioned Lisa in my previous review, and she's still one of my faves. I've tried many different instructors for body works, cycling, boot camp, and Pilates. Nobody else really stands out to me. The management and employees of this gym are constantly changing - it's hard to keep up. Upon walking in, you most likely will not be greeted by anyone at the front desk unless they're giving you a frown. The bathroom is almost never clean and the pool is more times closed than it is open. Despite all of this, people still come here. It's always packed on weeknights, and even Sunday mornings. I'll continue to go here until a better gym opens up in the area. read more

The trainers at this gym hound you, forcing you to join the gym but makes it damn difficult to cancel the membership. When you need to join, their trainers will call you everyday, (literally intimidate you - they literally question your expenses!) and they claim to take care of everything you need in the gym, they are available to meet anytime, multiple follow up voice mails and all but when you need to cancel, they are suddenly helpless. You can enroll online, but to cancel you need to cancel online, print the form and then mail the form to the head office. WHY???. What's worse, their IT is screwed up - their reset password link is un-clickable. I've been trying to create an online account for weeks now. When we can enroll online, why can't we cancel online? If you try to submit printed form at the gym, you'll be asked to send by mail only. It's obvious that they will make it easy to onboard and never let you discontinue membership and continue to charge you. Deceptive and inconvenient. Will not recommend!!! read more

This place hits an all time low today. I go to the front desk to ask for a set of clamps for squatting because they put them behind the desk due to people stealing them. OK, I get that. No problem. The girl at the front desk tells me I need to leave something there for collateral in exchange for the clamps. Are we even on the same planet? 1.) clamps are part of Gym equipment, which is part of my membership. 2.) what was I supposed to leave as collateral? I'm standing there in my gym clothes with my phone. I ask her that question, and she says Idk, you have to leave something though. If I could get this place zero stars, I would. This gym is filthy-- as I'm writing this (on a Tuesday after a holiday weekend), every single paper towel machine in the club is empty. They do not do a good job cleaning the facilities , I often see band aids in the locker room floor- gross. Staff never seem very concerned about addressing issues with broken machines either - when I reported a broken machine, I essentially had to beg the front desk associate to write down the machine number. as I type this , one of the stair machines has been out of service for 3 weeks read more

This gym is awesome. Your going to ready many reviews, some bad some good. Nothing is perfect and this gym is a great place to get your workout on. The best location, Friendly staff, nice customers, clean, and has great equipment. Only two things I dont like, is the guys who dunk on the bball rim and bresk it smd make us wait weeks to fix it and the other thing is guys who put water on the electric sauna pit. Thry end up shorting it and it was down for months. Other than that I wil continue to workout here. read more

I started going to this gym when it first opened and it was great. Things have drastically changed. All of the machines are broken or torn fabric on them. The majority of the ellipticals have missing cup holders and everything is extremely filthy. The cleaning staff doesn't do a damn thing. PRIOR to signing up (and before the gym was open), I was told that the gym would have the following: -"Hundreds of channels" including Bravo, VH1 and MTV. I specifically asked if these would be available and was told, "yes" (There are only 10 channels and none of them are the channels I was guaranteed). -A 6 lane pool (the actual pool has 3 lanes) -A FULL day of classes every day and night (check the schedule, this is not the case) -Kettlebell Classes (check the schedule, this is not the case) The salesperson promised the above would be available to me at the LA Fitness in Cranston. I am beginning to suspect that their salespeople use bait and switch tactics to drive membership sales. I reached out to corporate to demand a reduced rate, but am getting no where. read more

Also this was my valentine gift to my bf and he did everything he could to have this done for me asap. If you want great customer, please ask for ERIC in warwick. They are located right near chickfila in west warwick RT 2. So we got the plan for west warwick but we can attend the cranston location in the mean time. I was not too trill about this idea since i been there a few times last year as a "guest pass". Every employee there was not very friendly or helpful. You just look at them and they give you that ' im too good" Yesterday was my first day back to the gym. My only day off is Wednesday since i work 60 hours a week. My son is only 5 years old so I decide to bring him with me. Knowing the fact that i wouldnt bring him all the time when i attend the warwick one , I didnt sign up for the kids day care. It didnt matter because they just ask for $5 if you bring in your child. So i walk in with my son around 8am yesterday 2/18. The girl in the front (blonde hair young girl)gives you the scan thing for your pass. No hi or anything and just looks at you. Okay so i walk my son over to the kid center after i asked all set? I said this is my first time here and I have my son, but no kid pass. She just said okay and just sat there, GREAT so i walk over to the kid center thinking I would have to pay over there. I hand them the $5 and they looked at me like I had 5 heads......"you're suppose to pay up front!' I walk back up there and gave her the money. Now she's scanning more people and im standing there. "DID YOU SIGN IT?" Sign what? what (im sorry i would not sign something i dont read) "Well... this would've been done 5 minutes ago if you sign it and didnt walk away" IM SORRY ALL FUCKING SET! I grab my stuff and my son. I even complain to another employee thinking he would tell the manager. NOPE! Of course i called the GM ERIC and told him. Completely disgusted by them. Everything I said in my earlier review is still accurate. Only it's even worse now. The filth is just unacceptable, although management seems fine with it. This morning (5 minutes after opening) there were 11 wads of gum in the urinal. 8 of them were there yesterday. Went to spinning this morning, but there wasn't an instructor. Of course this wasn't mentioned on the app when I reserved my bike, nor did the front desk think to tell anyone. One of the participants taught it. Par for the course. I have complained several times, but seems to fall on deaf ears. The attitude of almost every employee screams, "I DON'T CARE!" Oh, and I almost forgot to mention there hasn't been any hot water for three days. Things break; I understand that, but it shouldn't take this long to fix it. The locker room downtime presents an excellent opportunity to clean. Sadly, no one at LA Fitness recognizes the opportunity. The filth remains... I hope the owner of this place reads this review. We are new to the area and are looking for a gym. This is the most expensive gym around and it is not competitive. As you walk by the exterior, you see three desks with high pressure gym membership/personal trainer sales. You could literally see them leaning over the desk for the hard sell. We didn't even need to go in to see that the body language said pretentious db all over it. This is coming from a Jaguar owner as well. There were more men than women in this place and whilst the equipment looked good, it looked like a place to go work out to be noticed. Not the type of gym that we want or need. No smiles from the staff, just the air of we are better than everyone else, pretentious dbaggery. Left there and viewed a few more competitor gyms and signed up with one tonight. Note to mums and dads: It does have a daycare as well and this is on display for the entire shopping plaza and any potential pervs walking by to see your kids on display. I thought I could look pass the filth and figured they would get their act together but that never happened. Was lifting when a tumbleweed sized dust bunny rolled by...no lie! They are constantly late opening... Sometimes 10 or 15 minutes but lately it's been over 30 minutes!!! I'm fed up and leaving this hole. Not worth the $30 a month and $100 sign up fee! This gym is very convenient for me to go right after work. I do like the gym itself, but because its so new I know it needs time to sort things and people out. Heres what I got: Pros: -They have a variety of classes that run an hour long, I really enjoy the mat palliates. -The facility is clean and spacious -Childcare available for about 10$/extra mo -Wide range of equipment -Future juice bar coming in soon -They offer personal trainers to work one on one with you Cons: - Again, not all the staff there seems like they wanna be there/sales pitchy/standing around doing nothing -Everyone pays a different price, you don't feel like you got the best deal -Not enough tv channels, right now theres only about 5 -$$$ -Dirty locker rooms read more

LA Fitness is a gym that only wants to make money. They don't care about their clients or if their clients succeed. It's a big corporation with no care about their existing clients. If you do join, don't believe anything what they tell you. Make sure you get everything in writing. They have a tendency to lie to the client and tell them what they want to hear. The district manager is an arrogant twerp. Everyone talks about how awful he is. It seems like a power thing for him. The gym is far from as clean as it used to be. The locker rooms aren't cleaned regularly. The cleaning lady sits on the bench playing with her cell phone. She might go over to the showers with a paper towel, wipe the hair out of the drain and go on to the next one with the same sheet of paper towel. LA Fitness is also a gym with no privacy. Everything is for show. The pool and hot tub are behind glass windows so everyone can see you. It's in the front of the building and people from the outside can see in. The group exercise class and spin rooms also have all windows, so people can see you. It's a good show piece to those touring the gym. There is no privacy in the locker rooms either. There's no changing rooms, the showers have shower curtains that are clear from a persons head to their shoulders or lower if you are tall. The Sauna isn't kept up. There's a piece of mat missing from the floor the benches aren't clean. The lights in the sauna are usually burnt out. They change them once in a while. They will tell you that classes run all day long, but they don't. They never add new classes and the Zumba instructors that they have left are all real bad. It's not worth taking any of their classes. My advice is you can find a much better gym to belong to. read more
