When I am specifically asked that question, my answer is always "no" and if I have the energy to be patient, I then take a couple of sentences to explain why. After this scenario occurred several times, I just stopped coming in. Today after several months I came in, it happened once more. I won't be back in the near future as a result. As former waitstaff, I would have been fired for any proactive reference to a customer about them tipping me. To do so is at best bad server etiquette.
