What was life like before Espresso Love? It's such a wonderful place to go and get an iced coffee and a parmagean bagel or a berry cheesecake muffin and sit outside with your family to read the paper and begin discussing which beach you want to go to and whether you should ride your bike or take the car and who's in charge of making lunch. If only they could make the actual cafe three times bigger with double the number of employees so there would be no waiting in line and then perhaps knock off a dollar or so on everything the sell.... then that would be perfection. read more

I love coffee shops, and there is much to love at Espresso Love. First, timing is everything. During the peak summer season, this place can be quite busy, and that has an overall effect on quality and satisfaction you might have with this shop (3 stars during this time). Off season is when this place really starts to shine. The coffee is freshly ground just before brewing, which leads to a very aromatic and heady brew. Coffee sizes are fair, and the pricing for coffee reasonable to any urban coffee drinker. A variety of soups, salads and sandwiches are acceptable and a decent size. Free WiFi is also available, and when it isn't too busy, you can comfortably sit for a few hours drinking coffee and surfing the web. All and all a pleasant coffee drinking stop. read more

To their defense we ordered the wrong thing. But why have something on your menu if you can't make it perfect. Once we sat down in their backyard space we realized everyone around us was a local with a hot cup of coffee and a scone or a muffin. So whoops... not a place to order an egg sandwich and espresso drink (despite the name) we were really disappointed w our cappuccino. We also got an iced coffee and that was really weak. We are used to Blue Bottle and Stumptown quality espresso drinks and cold brewed coffee and it wasn't found here. (best espresso was at BTB coffee) The egg sandwiches - the eggs were overcooked but bagel tasted decent and I didn't hate it, just wasn't great (best breakfast sandwich was Among the Flowers Cafe). So come here if you want to hang w the locals w a scone and hot coffee. Maybe you should rename this place to 'Coffee Love' instead of 'Espresso Love'? read more

This is not just another coffee shop. This place is the only coffee shop in Edgartown that offers you those things you crave for with or without coffee: bagels, muffins, lattes, bagel sandwiches, cookies, newspapers, . . . Be prepared to not be the only one with the same idea. Most times there are at least three people in front of you but they are very well staffed. read more

Where do I start... aside from being out of hamburgers... if you want a side of really bad attitude from a bunch of high school and college kids come here! All the tables are dirty and when I asked for a something to wipe off the tables, one said "can you ask someone else... I'm really busy". Iced Coffee drinkers, you are saved! Ahh....Espresso Love! I'm so happy that I found you. When you need to grab a quick iced coffee, and you're a Rhode Islander like me, you may feel a little lost on the island. The first morning on the island I awoke with a blast of fear....Where's the closest D&D? I don't see the pink and orange sign everywhere... Oh yes...that's when I remembered that I was on a cute island that's only chain stores are Stop and Shop and Dairy Queen. (how did Dairy Queen get here by the way?) Fear struck me, and I remembered all of those other coffee shops on your trips that served me hot coffee poured over ice, ruining the flavor before I could sip it down. If you have the same qualms, just head over to Espresso Love. Their iced chai is a bit lacking - very milky/less chai than I am used to; but their iced coffee was spot on! Very tasty, classic, and cold. I also recommend the iced hazelnut. If you want to be adventurous, you can add flavored syrups to your coffee. There is generally a line, and it's a bit warm and stuffy inside while you wait to place your order, but it's worth it. The staff are all energetic and ready to serve you. Breakfast sandwiches are served on either a bagel or english muffin, and cost about $5. I especially enjoy the Mike's sandwich - a bagel with tomato, avacado, and cream cheese. mmmm mmmm good! You can either take your breakfast outside into their lovely garden, eat it inside (but it's a bit warm) or take it to go. They have yogurt, granola, fruit, vitamin water, and other options for you as well. They also serve lunch and dinner, but I only stop in here at breakfast time for my daily dose of coffee. Bring your family, send in one or two people to order, and have everyone else pick a table outside in the garden. You will not be disappointed! read more

I was in town for work and was looking for a local place to have breakfast and this one kept coming up so I had to give it a shot and lucky enough they had just re-opened so they had an amazing special. For every pastry you purchased they gave you a small cup of coffee. I walked in and ordered a ham and cheese croissant and got the small coffee. The croissant was warm, flaky, and full of flavor. The filing was perfectly balanced and delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better food and coffee experience. read more

We just spent a lovely week in Edgartown and this place was where we always started our day! The food we had was excellent and service was good. It's quite busy here in the morning but the line moves quickly. We never had a problem finding a table in the garden to enjoy the mornings.Coffee and latte were very good. i end up coming here every morning while on vacation at the vineyard. while the menu can be a little pricey, it's definitely worth it. i always get an iced caramel latte or dirty chai. the coffee just tastes so good. i've also tried many of their sandwiches, which never disappoint. definitely a must to check out this place when on martha's vineyard! read more

Unfortunately, EsLove has gone downhill over the years. When they first opened many years back, they were pretty good but, over the last 3 years, I've seen a decline. The desserts are often dry and taste stale like they've been sitting out all day. The coffee is mediocre but what's worse to me, is the prep. area with sugar etc. is never clean. Kinda gross when your fixing your coffee. It's like the owners hired a bunch of part-time kids who couldn't care less and checked out. I stopped going. read more

I went in here asked for a vegan burrito with added sausage. I am highly allergic to eggs and dairy so I got the vegan burrito. Not only did they screw up my order but it was $10. They gave me the opposite of what I asked for...a big ol burrito filled with eggs and cheese. Upon eating I immediately threw it in the garbage and basically paid for an allergic reaction. My wife, six-month old daughter, and I went to Espresso Love for lunch yesterday and enjoyed it very much. Sadly, it is one of the few sandwich places open on Martha's Vineyard for late lunch in the off season. (most places are either closed for the season or close at 2pm; EL served sandwiches until 3pm) I had the macaroni, cheese and prosciutto; my wife had the chili and we shared a goat cheese, walnut, and apple salad. All were very good. In warm weather you can sit outside or in an enclosed screen porch. And, they have great t-shirts, sweat shirts, and coffee mugs for sale, although the inventory of clothes was a little low. read more

Great lunch spot if you're biking through Edgartown. One of the best outdoor seating areas I have experienced anywhere. My daughter and I stopped by today, each got a chicken sandwich (mine spicy on ciabatta bread, hers a fairly bland one in a wrap). Both were well made and very fresh. Only issue was that it took almost 30 minutes from ordering to get the food, and they were not that busy. Iced coffee was also excellent, as I was told to expect by a local. Every time I visit the Vineyard, Espresso Love is a must stop! Their bakery items are always fresh and delicious -- and always different daily. They certainly train their baristas well as my Iced Vanilla Latte was always on spot! Highly suggest it! Mediocre espresso. I got a cappuccino and it tasted like water. It was also extremely hot and barely drinkable.

I ordered a bagel toasted with butter and I received basically a raw piece of dough that no one even attempted to toast. Hard butter wasn't spread at all. I asked if I could get some avocado and bacon on the bagel as well. Instead of the bacon they use on their breakfast sandwiches, they put cold bacon bits all over it along with a really hard avocado. Couldn't eat it at all. Its not rocket science toast a bagel. My latte was really really good, however. I'll stick to just the drinks here if I come again read more

What a great coffee shop downtown Edgartown! Visited the island over a long July 4th weekend and it made my mornings complete! Their coffee and freshly baked goods are to die for (was recommended by the employees to try a blueberry scone - man, I crave it right now!!!) My husband is an espresso drinker and immensely enjoyed his Flat White which is nowhere to be found. Very busy but service is quick and the lines move fast and it's so worth to wait. The baked goods marked "gluten free" are not gluten free. I asked if the oats they used were regular oats (which are not gluten free) or gluten free oats. They said regular. They didn't seem interested in hearing my explanation, we just didn't buy the food. It's possible that the servers were misinformed, but as a family with celiac disease, we couldn't take the risk. Good Coffee and Pastries! Don't let the inexperienced, uninterested, impersonal, and often offensive temporary summer staff stop you from enjoying the fresh perked morning atmosphere. Bring your lap top and sit in the garden or read the local newspaper. Very limited indoor seating, if raining, you may need to find shelter elsewhere. Oh yes and bring your wallet, don't worry it will be much lighter on the way out. The food is good enough but overpriced and small portioned. This is a self indulgence for my morning. This is not a good value for your dollar so don't expect any breaks. It looses one whole star for poor employee attitude and moral. I only tip counter help if they remember something about me ie: Name, How I take my Coffee (Black, not to tuff for that one) or make an effort to point out something fesh and or new to offer me. Staying in Harborside Inn in Edgartown espresso love is just a quick walk away and a great little cafe. They have outdoor and indoor seating with many options for coffee, breakfast and lunch. There Spanish latte is amazing and so is their iced chai. They have many delicious soups, salads and pastries. Even though it may be a bit pricey it is a lovely cafe. read more

In the 10 days that I've been here in Edgartown I've had quite a few cups of terrible coffee. I was just about to give up all hope when I overheard a woman on the street say, "I'm just gonna go to Espresso Love real quick!" So I did what any normal caffeine deprived Californian would do. I followed her. And whaddya know, Espresso Love was right there hiding behind the courthouse, all this time. They serve absolutely delicious iced coffees/frozen cappuccinos/bagel sandwiches/muffins... , etc. I also love the outdoor patio and wifi that make it possible for me to enjoy my coffee in the sunshine while I Yelp. read more
