This place was located about a 10min walk from our hotel in Edgartown. We were instantly greeted and helped with our order by the nice kid working the cash register. I wanted to try the Lobster Bisque, but they were out. Saw the picture on Yelp and had stop by for the Hot Lobster roll. It definitely delivered on taste and they do not skimp on the lobster. If you like mayo, then try the Lobster salad roll instead. Hubby ordered the clam chowder and stated it had great flavor, but needed more clams. Best lobster rolls on the island! Picked up for beach picnic and still amazing an hour later.

we ordered two two pound lobsters cooked and cracked as done many times over 35 years. we got them home and weighed them - see photos attached of digital scale. they were 1 pound one ounce each. the next day we went in to discuss this and brought photos of each lobster on he digital scale and andy was rude and sarcastic. he claimed they lost weight when cracked. really? half their weight? after some time he offered to refund half the price, but it was really his rudeness that prompts this review. he kept saying sarcastically over and over 'I hope you enjoyed your two pound lobsters' Even though they were half of that. We really never expected this kind of attitude on mv in this day and age. They screwed up, why not admit it, apologize and move on? read more

Family owned Island business usually has a great selection of fresh seafood year round. They even put up bay scallops in the freezer so you can buy them in the off season. I believe that their pricing is in sync with the other local fish stores and slightly less than a competitor up the street. (not the chain) We have been store customers for years - off-season yet the owner has never acknowledged us nor has he ever engaged us in conversation. Not at all what I expected but it turned into a blessing in disguise. Edgartown Seafood turned out to be a fish market but still offered some of the FRESHEST soup and lobster rolls that I have ever tasted in my entire life. It was sad to see that they weren't more populated, because people who are not coming here are really missing out. While this place does not at all have any tables to sit at, there was a park just a few hundred yards away (walkable distance) where we sat and ate on the benches. While we are tourists, this was a great experience, and next time we come to Martha's Vineyard this will definitely be some place that we will come back too. read more

I have been coming to buy fish here for close to 30 years and up until now have never been disappointed. Today I asked for a thick piece of halibut as I planned on putting it on the grill. I never looked at it until it was time to cook it. I was surprised to find that the piece I had been given was an irregular shape that had thin flaps off each side. No big deal, I trimmed the fish for the grill but found bones or perhaps cartilage where I had trimmed off the flaps. I could not remove the bones so I took it back. It was a little after 5:00PM and the place was crowded. I waited my turn, explained the problem, and the guy waiting on me then started screaming at me so the whole store could hear that halibut does not have bones. He then went into a tirade in front of the whole store, filled with customers. I told him to look at the fish I had returned. Rather than look at the fish I had returned, he started yelling again that "halibut does not have bones." Then he grabbed a new piece of halibut, threw it in the bag I had returned the other fish in and literally threw it over the counter at me. In the meantime the whole place went quiet as several of the other people behind the counter chimed it. As I left one yelled out "enjoy your free Fish". I paid $50 dollars for the bad fish I returned to the store and left with a piece of fish they should have give me the first time. I will never go back. read more

I think this is the second time I've been here. Both times the service has been nice. This time we had a lobster roll, crab cake, and clam chowder. I chose the buttered lobster roll (vs the salad lobster roll). Who doesn't want a hot buttered bun with lobster? The roll looks pretty small when wrapped up but once you open it you'll see it's stuffed with lots of lobster. The lobster was a bit tough in some parts but I still liked it because it was simple - just a roll, butter, and lobster. No other unnecessary flavors covering up fresh lobster. The crab cake had more to be desired. And I literally mean one crab cake. We didn't realize it was sold individually. My friend also said there wasn't much crab in it, so that's disappointing. I didn't have any since, well, it was one little crab cake. So while I recommend the lobster roll even though it's pricier, I would not recommend the crab cake. The chowda was great. Not too thick and creamy and wasn't fishy, with regular amounts of clam in it. It's a good place for a quick bite in Edgartown. You can eat on the lark adjacent to the market. read more

The Edgartown Seafood Market is perfect if you are looking to pick up fresh fish and bring it home (if you are staying in town/Katama) to eat or cook. We ordered three 1 and 1/2 pound lobsters and they were great! When I was finished, I was left still wanting more. We were able to tell them the time we wanted to pick our food up and it was ready and hot right on time. The only thing I wish they did was give you dipping butter like many other fish markets do on the island, especially if you are taking pre-cooked lobsters to go. We also ordered the clam chowder and I thought it was okay. I am a big fan of creamy chowder so this just didn't do the trick for me. I would probably pass on that next time and try another side dish instead. read more

For us this is the go to takeout fish market. Buy it, bag it, bring it home to cook and eat it. Fish is always fresh and overpriced. That's the vineyard. No point in looking for bargains on this island, so you might as well get a good product. Edgartown Seafood Market is always good and fresh and the service is excellent. It's a safe bet if you're in the area. No need to drive out to Menemsha for fresh seafood. ESM has you covered! read more

This place has the freshest fist in town, no doubt. They only put out what's caught that morning, so you know if it isn't there, it's not work having. I love their smoked bluefish -the dip or the filet. That stuff is just delicious - smoky, briny, of-the-sea. Love it. Their bounty is always labeled well, with prices and where it was caught. Prices are pretty fair, considering the area and level of quality. I also love that this is just a no-frills market that caters to the locals and tourists alike. The service is efficient, helpful, and while I can't say it's 'friendly', I can say they're genuine. read more

Edgartown Seafood is always the best place to go for the freshest, local seafood. Today I saw a fisherman arrive with bushels of fresh, dug clams. You can't get fresher than that! Definitely don't confuse them with Edgartown Fish and Meat Market, as they are just for the tourists. read more

Sad after coming here every time we're on the island for over 25 years but had a really unnecessarily unpleasant experience yesterday. Husband went to get 1 1/2 lb lobsters and because of the price/size structure he got 1 1/4 lb. (this was his fault, not the store's). I called them as soon as he got home (less than 10 min, he came straight back) explained and asked if ok to bring them right back to trade for larger ones. Very nice guy said no problem, come on back. He went back and the older, angry owner saw him in line and yelled at him, saying you can't exchange them. Walked away and wouldn't answer my husband as to who told me it would be ok. We're not angry that it wasn't ok, not even angry if an employee told us the wrong thing but there was no need for this man to be so belligerent. Had he just said sorry, my guy gave you bad info, I can't do it we'd be ok but to shout, "YOU CAN'T RETURN FOOD!" was ridiculous. We didn't want money back, we wanted to trade the very lively but small lobsters for larger ones and spend more money! We go several times a week the weeks we are here and the seafood is always good but this was our Waterloo. No need to put up with rudeness. Never again. read more

Told me he didn't feel like it and I should go from boat to boat to borrow a pot. I love their seafood but recently I spontaneously bought a pie that was offered near the check-out counter. I served it to guests that night and it was truly inedible! It was raspberry with no sugar and what tasted like paste. We each had a bite and threw it away. I don't normally return things but I was so appalled at the quality of this pie, that I brought it back. They gave me a REALLY hard time about it..saying we ate it anyway and other insulting comments. They FINALLY gave me $10 back on it (not the total cost of the pie). They created a lot of badwill for us and our guests. read more

FRESH, FRESH, FRESH. We definitely spent a lot of money here, for 2 pound lobsters and oysters -- but nothing out of the ordinary for the freshness and quality. Everything was local to the vineyard! Our first time cooking lobster and shucking oysters, and OH MAN, the best we have ever had. I also LOVE the Menemsha Fish Market, but heard these two are related? Either way, both incredible. I was in a mood for some raw clams and oysters and this place is the place to come to for any seafood. Many cars outside on the weekend before Fourth of July, many people going for the snow crab legs, and giant scallops. Prices are better than Edgartown Seafood and Meat market, but comparable. The most importance thing is the knowledgeable employees and fresh quality of seafood be had with all I needed to get my fix, except for that lemon which I went across to Stop & shop to pick up (they only had limes in the frig). The Katamo Bay Oysters around this time of year (End of June) are a decent size with tons of .....as it is termed ..."liquor." A little briny as it should for east coast but with a little lemon juice and cocktail sauce, it's sweetness is enhanced. Same goes for the little neck clams too. Freshest I have had. None of that weird smell etc that I have been turned away from at restaurants. I recommend you let them sit in ice cold water to rid the sand and dirt and a scrub for cleaning before shucking. A dozen of unshucked fresh raw Katamo Bay Oysters ($1.25/each) and little neck clams (3.99/lb), with cocktail sauce ($3), horse radish ($3), and a shutting knife ($8) will run you about $25-$30 and a lemon for another 0.75 cents across the street. But the satisfaction of enjoying with an ice cold beer or riesling wine pair in comfort is worthwhile....so long as you know how to clean and shuck (or at least learn/remember with the help of youtube) and not cut yourself in the process. They do serve oysters and clams on the 1/2 shell and it's $2/each for the oysters and I believe it was $1.25/each for the little neck clams....the cherry stones are better grilled just an FYI. read more

You get what you pay for here!! You pay a lot but you get the freshest fish available in the area unless you go 10 miles up the road to the boats. Good steamed lobsters, you can order ahead and pick them up. Also had day boat scallops, the freshest local tuna, the flounder, some wild salmon, and the clam chowder which was brothy but excellent. Again the fish varies in price and can go up to 30$ a lb for some, but its worth it to get the best. Went here everyday on my last visit and i will return for sure!! read more

My husband and I were so excited and full of eager anticipation when we arrived at Edgartown Seafood. What a disappointment we had! The lobster rolls did not have that sweet lobster taste. In fact they had no taste at all! I'm wondering if they use dead lobster to make their lobster rolls! The buns were ice cold. A total disappointment!
