Very interesting experience here. The coffee itself is actually pretty good (I ordered a medium salted caramel latte) but the ambiance and service were questionable. I walked into the shop and found no music, just 3 people breathing and random but quiet noises in the background. It was too quiet. I then went to the register to order, but there was no one there and I waited like 2 full minutes until an employee came from the back. He was on the phone and took my order while on the phone. I wanted the ube latte on the Specials menu but it was out of stock so I got something else. My medium coffee was $8.50 which is a bit pricey. The pastry cabinet had a fly stuck in it, and though the pastries looked good, I'm not sure how long they've been there and they were all just kind of... piled on top of each other regardless of flavor/type. The barista did hand my coffee to me at my seat which was kind. Overall, I'm satisfied with the actual coffee but the service and atmosphere of this place needs work. I know they have an open barista role (sign at the register advertised this) but they genuinely do need more employees and better management/customer service. read more

such an unfortunate experience. saw great reviews, place looked cute, so i went on my lunch. came in and had to wait a while to have my order taken which is ok. then i realize only one person is working seemingly. he takes my order and tells me it will be a moment. that seems alright. then it takes way too long to get a simple iced coffee with soy milk. then i get it and i confirm it is with soy and he realizes he forgot and used regular milk. i say it's ok as i don't want to make him remake it. it's not his fault he was the only employee but that is poor management. then i go outside to set my drink on the table and it falls and gets all over the floor. i was so upset by the whole event i threw away the cup and left. couldn't be bothered to ask for another drink i was so defeated at this point. read more

I had been here before and the coffee was lukewarm and watered down, but I liked the place because it was a cool study spot. However, when I came today with my boyfriend, he had gotten a matcha from another store as they don't serve matcha and the moment we put our stuff down at a table, the worker comes up to us and said no outside food or drinks. I said I'm about to buy something and he says "but you haven't" with a rude tone and expression on his face. He did not even give us 2 minutes to put our stuff down before letting the entire coffee shop know we haven't bought anything yet. Then my boyfriend was fed up and we just packed our stuff and left. This is a new coffee shop that popped up in Westwood, with a ancient almost wizard-like vibe lol. It has some really cool decorations, with a dope looking chair and some leather couches. They have a wide selection of coffee and tea drinks, with even the option to add CBD/MCT to your drink. There are also a lot of baked goods, including sweet or savory croissants, and muffins. I got the latte, while my friend got the matcha latte. Both come unsweetened, with options to add flavored syrups or just sugar to sweeten it. These lattes came with a thicc layer of foam, which had a great texture to it. Where these drinks fall flat is the overly-milky taste. I prefer when my lattes still have a bit of bitterness from the espresso, but that coffee flavor is overpowered by the ratio of milk used in the drink. That being said, this coffee shop is a great place to get work done, with plenty of seating spaces, power strips, and free wifi. Was very disappointed with the service. I had been working here for about two to three hours today until around 3PM. I was completely quiet with my AirPods and studying and then I was approached by the barista and she told me to leave as she said "um it's a coffee shop so you have to leave because you didn't buy anything." First off, I don't think you should mark yourself as a study spot if you're forced to buy something or get kicked out. Second, establishments such as Starbucks do not have a policy where they walk out and force you to buy something or get kicked out. The seats were abundant and tables too at 3PM. There were at least the couch, 5-6 bar counter seats, 2-3 front table seats, and a table open. She only approached me in the store then went back to work while I packed up. Other people in the store witnessed and just looked at the situation and it was quite embarrassing. This was really disrespectful as I saw other people did not buy anything but were sitting farther away and I extremely hope she did not approach me to kick me out as I was the only asian person left at the store when I was looking around while I left. And the fact that there were other people that did not buy anything, but I was singled out specifically. I had gone to this place to study on the regular, but maybe not anymore. read more

I am always in the mood to try a new coffee shop and when I saw Espressoteric pop up I knew I had to stop by. I finally did it last weekend and I loved it! The coffee is great and they have a bunch of interesting options as well. I got the latte and would definitely recommend! They also have some pastries/snacks. I tried the chocolate chip muffin and it was so soft and exactly what I wanted. The cafe itself has such a quiet and relaxing atmosphere - perfect for working or studying. They have a few tables and couches set up besides the bar area, however there is a ton of space so they could add a few more. I just found a great work/study place in Westwood. It feels like you're sitting in someone's living room. I love how they have natural light, it's spacious, and love how they have outlets. It's fairly quiet and I was able to knock out a lot of work! Their iced vanilla latte with oat milk was delicious and their staff was very nice! Only wish I have is for them to add a small healthy food option such as avocado toast, oats, and salad of some sort!! Was looking for a place to study and found this place on Yelp. Although it seems like they could put in more tables, there is a couch and bar that you could also sit at. And it wasn't super crowded either, so it wasn't really a problem. I noticed a faintly peculiar smell when I walked in (probably from the wood), but I got used to it pretty soon. The worker was super nice. He told me this place opened up really recently at the beginning of this year. I ordered the Matcha Latte 12oz. He gave me the soy milk substitute for free, so that was really nice of him. It was still like $5 though I think? The drink was pretty small. And I think he put too much milk in it that the matcha flavor was a bit masked. Overall, chill place. Service is great. It's a really nice place to study. There is no worse feeling on a hot California summer day, than when your first sip from your iced americano is lukewarm and watered down. That's precisely what I received today at Espressoteric Coffee. Clearly the establishment has no idea how to brew coffee. Really you only have one job when it comes to pouring a shot over ice water, but somehow they managed to mess it up. For better coffee, please try 7-11 across the street. Such a shame. Great place to work, with mediocre food and coffee. The music is calmer than most cafes (think lo-fi girl) which makes it the ideal place to work. It's spacious, full of natural light, and presumably, UCLA students who are studying for their next mid-term. I needed a place to work while waiting for to pick up my passport at the agency, and this place was perfect. However, the ham and cheese croissant was a little cold, and definitely stale. I was biting into hardened cheese, y'all. The iced latte was decent and nothing standout, but still had a good milk to coffee ratio.
