The croissant was flaky and buttery: delish! The matcha was good: I like my matcha as close to the original flavor of the tea as possible without all the additives. I brought my iPad and enjoyed working there by the open window, people watch when I took breaks and felt a part of the larger community. I would be back and look forward to visiting other La La Land locations. The interior is aesthetically white. The outside had plenty of seating to soak in the LA sunshine: a very LA coffee shop vibe: sunny, outdoorsy, pretty, green and picturesque. Service was good. Parking is metered parking for 3 hours. I got lucky and found one across the street.

It's very spacious inside but felt a bit crowded due to how many people were in there when we went. It was also really hot inside, not sure if it's cause all the windows were open that day, but definitely didn't feel like the ac was on. They also had a good size patio out front with plenty of seating. Merch lined the walls, some pastries and grab and go items by the cash wrap. A small but overwhelming matcha menu (that can also be switched to coffee). My friend grabbed a lavender matcha in a size small and I got the banana cream in a medium, it was smooth and creamy, matcha taste was spot on. Drinks came out quickly, even with the place being busy. Cashier was friendly but the other baristas not so much. **They do have a small lot for parking but best to just find something on the street if you plan on walking around.

Turns out it's a relaxing non-alcoholic drink with a very unusual effect -- I felt a slight numbness on my tongue The bar itself was clean, atmospheric, and super cozy, the drink was actually really tasty, and the service was absolutely amazing. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. If you want to try something different and unique, this place is definitely worth visiting!

Order and pay at the counter and find a table indoors or outside. Both areas are nice, however inside, the noise level is a wee bit louder, however I haven't had any issues having a conversation with a friend. For those with sensitive ears, just sit outside. One can come here for coffee. Free refills! You can ask for a cup ( their cups are glass), but the coffee doesn't stay warm long. If you plan on sitting there and don't mind a paper cup To Go, order your coffee in a To Go cup. Food: each time I have ordered food to eat there, it arrives promptly and presented beautifully. Their sandwiches are made with their house made bread! Delicious! Try to save room for one of their pastries or desserts. Tartine is an oasis to relax, unwind, catch up with friends, people watch. But: They have a crazy attendant that spies where you are walking and decides how much you pay based on his opinion vs your receipt from the store and validation stamps. When I came back he said I owed him $15. I showed him my receipt but he claimed he watched me walk away and so validation doesn't count anymore. I refused to pay for his demand and he told me I am banned from the parking lot. He is on crack. Shame because tartine will lose clients because of this dudes behavior. I used to go several times each week but I can't deal with this guy making up rules depending on whether he likes you or not.

I can see why he loves it -- the egg tarts are very custardy and rich, with a lightly eggy flavor but the sweetness from heavy cream in each bite contrasting to the flaky crust. We also got the red velvet cheesecake, which was pretty standard. The strawberry and cream cookie was massive and I loved the strawberry flavor! It was a little too sweet for me but for the average American palette is probably perfect. There's a parking lot but pretty limited seating (that gets a lot of sun), so plan on taking it to go unless you want to casually borrow a table next door...

We were delighted with the box of cookies and tarts that they brought from Paderia in Santa Monica. The chocolate chip walnut cookies were fat and soft with a slightly crisp exterior. The thickness of them allowed a plethora of rich chips to reside inside. I'm not a fan of chunks of nuts in cookies but these were chopped in tiny pieces, so did not take away from the overall soft texture. The soft peanut butter chocolate cookie was also a huge fattie with peanut butter chips within the chocolate cookie. Both were enhanced with a quick warm-up. I loved both of these cookies and think the chocolate chip is the very best you'll ever find. We also had Portuguese egg tarts. The pastel de nata (if I recall, this is what they are called) I ate was small but good, but I have had others that were more to my liking, with a sweeter custard and a more caramelized top, which I guess is a personal preference. Not to say it wasn't delicious - it was! I love the cookies so much I'll be checking out their Irvine location soon, which is much closer to me.
