When I walked in I was immediately put in a pedi chair. Went at a good time they weren't as busy as most places. The lady that did my pedi was very silent but smiled every once and awhile with few words. I got regular nail polish and it looked okay. As I was getting my pedi done two other girls walked in and was greeted by a gentleman asking them if they wanted drinks or anything. I was Ivy's customer for over a year. She does excellent gel nails and even better nail art. I was so happy with her work that I drove from Oklahoma City to Yukon twice a month to get my nails done. I always made an appointment. Unfortunately, the longer I was Ivy's customer, the more complacent she became with the quality of her work and with respecting my appointment time. One time, I waited an hour and a half past my appointment time to get my nails done because she took a walk in right before my appointment. She told me it would be 45 minutes and asked me to come back. I wasn't happy, but I did have some errands, so I left and came back 25 minutes later. When I got there, she told me it would be another 45 minutes. She had taken yet another walk-in ahead of me. I was furious. If I hadn't needed my nails done for an event that evening, I would've left. But, instead, I waited. When I finally got in the chair, Ivy half-heartedly apologized and told me they were very busy that day. I told her she shouldn't have taken walk-in customers ahead of me when I had an appointment time. I reminded her that I drove from out of town to come to her shop. I wasn't mean or rude, but she understood I was inconvenienced and upset. Her work that day was subpar, and she had the audacity to tell me that she didn't have time to do nail art. I always got nail art. This only made me angrier. I did not tip her that day. After that, I tried Ivy a few more times. I only did this because I really liked her nail art. my efforts were a waste of time and money. She didn't do as good of a job, and she always had some excuse why she couldn't do nail art. Finally, the last time I was in the shop, I came in as a walk-in. She told me she did not have time to do my nails. I told her that was fine. She assigned a young man to do my nails that day. And that's when things got interesting. By that time, I had moved from gel polish to the dip. I noticed that there were certain things about the dip manicure I did not get that others seemed to be getting, such as the lotion and massage at the end of the manicure. I wasn't really happy with the way my nails were looking by then either. Very thick and not shaped well. When the guy was doing my nails, he criticized the way they had been done and asked me who did them because they weren't done correctly. I told him his boss did them. (Ivy is the owner of the shop.) The conversation grew quiet after that. He did a good job on my nails and gave me the lotion and hand massage at the end, but I knew by then was done with that nail shop. I absolutely cannot recommend this nail shop and particularly Ivy because of the way she treated me. Basically because I confronted her about not being treated professionally or fairly, she chose not to give me the full service she charged me for on several manicures and to give me half-hearted service at that. I have not stepped foot in her shop since nor will I. Everyone thinks she's very sweet. She is unless you stand up to her about unprofessional behavior. Then she'll treat you so badly you'll finally understand you're not wanted as a customer anymore. I feel so stupid it took me so long to figure this out. read more

I finally understand why people consider nail salons relaxing. They must have all just been coming here. Usually I feel rushed, uncomfortable, and sometimes even in pain. I've had major damage done to my nails at other places. The techs at Essence take their time, bring you snacks and a drink, listen to your wants, don't try to upcharge you at every turn, and truly pamper you. I can't think of one critique. My nails looked perfect, and I left in a great mood. I will definitely keep coming here whenever I need to get my nails done. It's fantastic enough, that I would even recommend driving here from OKC. I called this salon and got a quote for two colors and oval dip on my natural nails and removal of my old set. When I showed up, a young man started the removal of my nails, passed me on to an older lady to start my nails.. she broke one of my natural nails in the process and was not covering my nails with dip properly. Commented once about the shape of nail she broke not being even and crooked.. asked her if we could fix it politely. Also I noticed she wasn't covering one of my nails completely with dip and I pointed it out to her.. she mumbled in her language to ivy and took off.. no communication. Ivy finished her client and started my nails.. and finished off the job. I didn't even share any of my concerns with her even though my middle finger nail was uneven bc previous tech broke it. At check out I was asked to pay $5 more than quoted.. i asked him politely "why is it more than I was quoted, just curious?" He said "bc you got two colors" I told him I was told I can get up to 4 with no charge. He walked over and asked ivy and she told him to charge me what I was quoted. I thanked them, complicated their work even though I had a crooked nail, tipped them and left. 3 weeks later I call to book an appointment, apparently their feelings are hurt and don't want to schedule me "bc I don't like their work" when I didn't complain just pointed out a couple of things and asked politely if we could fix them. Bottom line is if you go here you'll get over charged with no explanation .. if you question it they're butt hurt. If they break your nails and they're uneven and you ask nicely to fix it they'll get butt hurt. If they're that sensitive they're definitely in the wrong business. read more

Love this place! I always get the Aroma pedicure and dip manicure. Lots of great color choices for all dips, gel, and regular polish. The technicians are all so nice and I've always felt like they spend plenty of time on massages, and making sure I get my money's worth! Can I just say "wow"? A gentlemen did my pedicure, a young woman did my boyfriend's, and a differnt young woman , Ivy, did my nails (stilleto/dual dip/ombre). I really recommend the delux pedicure. Between the mud mask and the hot stone my legs were absolutely jelly. Not to rough and not to gentle the massage was perfect. Ivy took her time, made sure the color(s) were even and the shape was perfect. They aren't chunky or oddly thick. Honestly I can't even tell they aren't my own! I can't stress it enough! Realizing after the fact that there are very few reviews for this salon even though it's been open a while. . . . read the reviews and thought . . . this can't be the salon I went to because they didn't do any of the things mentioned in the reviews. I didn't even get offered a water after waiting over 30 minutes. I didn't see anyone get offered drinks or snacks. I think someone is writing reviews for the wrong salon. This is my first review ever, and it takes a lot to upset me. My daughter took me here for mother's day (not on the day) after reading the reviews. We were "welcomed" by a person who looked about 12 years old and her comment was "you want all of that?". We wrote down mani/pedi and eyebrow wax. My adult daughter called to make an appointment and they said just come in. We got there at 5:30 p.m. and they close at 7:00 so they could have said we don't have time, but they put us in a chair to wait and did a very sub par job. I expressed concern that my toes wouldn't match my fingers if I got gel nails, but the tech was rude and said I needed to do gel. They don't match at all, and my 4 year old niece could paint nails better than I got for $30. It is SOOOO SLOPPY and BLOTCHY! We went a little past 7:00, and we did not get our brows done, but they didn't even comment on that. They spoke in a different language the entire time and laughed repeatedly. We watched a lady come in with her daughter and get seated to then be sent away, and they were obviously making fun of her after she left. It was just RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I WILL NEVER RETURN AND WON'T REFER ANYONE TO THIS SALON. read more

I have been to no less than 8 nail shops in Yukon and surrounding area but Essence is BY FAR THE BEST. Hubby & I went for pedicures - mine with polish. Jade & Rosie ROCK. Loved this place so much I stayed for a manicure. I tried the dip method no UV LIGHT. My fingers & Toes sparkle and My nails stayed perfect an entire month. When the dip was removed there was ZERO DAMAGE to my nail beds Like I had experienced with the UV method years before. After that I was hooked. They served snacks, water, soda - very thoughtful we thought. They will be celebrating 1 year on 9-10-16 with food & drink so Come show these ladies & gentlemen some you will be delighted. read more
