I usually love this place, most of the time i am extremely pleased with both my nails and service. However, today I did not walk away happy at all. I asked for a pedicure, as well as dip nails, almond shape, with tips, and i picked out a beautiful deep blue color. I was told that my manicurist would be Anne. During my pedicure, Anne was very rude to me on multiple instances, specifically when she slapped my leg to move it when she put on my paraffin wax treatment. As we moved on to nails, she cut my tips way shorter than i had asked her to. Then, as she started adding my color, it looked like a purple periwinkle, not the deep blue color I had chosen. I asked to see the color, and while it was the one I had chosen, I expressed to Anne that it looked nothing like what I picked out. She very rudely tried to tell me I was wrong, which I very kindly responded that the color on my nail did not match the one I picked. She then threw her hands down and said "What can I do?" I very nicely tried to tell her I wasn't being rude to her, just that I was unhappy with my color. She got up and found the polish version of the color, which looked more like what I had picked out. She coated my nails in that, then proceeded to file, file, and file some more. so much so that my nails are extremely shorter than I had wanted, and the almond shape is very crooked and does not look nice at all. I am very displeased with my visit today, and I hope that Anne can receive proper nail training and customer Service training in her future. I will still continue to come to this salon, as I have been loyal to it for years. However, I will be making sure Anne is not performing my services again. *I attached a picture of the nails I was going for, and the nails I received. Made an appointment for 5:00, came in told them I wanted french tip nails with tips. i get the exact same thing every single time and have been coming to this place for 5 years. I always get pink and white dip with glitter on only the white part. Immediately when I walk in and they tell me to go to seat 5 I'm hesitant because i notice it's the lady my younger sister has complained about several times but everyone else appears to be busy and I don't want to be rude and ask for someone else. I sit and she is immediately rude about what I'm getting, not understanding any of the things i'm saying. I stand up for myself and explain in detail what I want and show her a picture (I put the picture I showed her below) of my most recent nails done AT THE SAME PLACE. She says okay and puts the tips on, then goes to cut them down, she places the clippers millimeters from the tip of my finger and goes to cut, I stop her and say "oh can you go a little bit longer" she cuts it anyways and then asks me if it's good....?? I say "yea i mean it's fine" she says, i'm not even kidding, "what do you mean fine??? is it good or not?" I say "I mean yea good I guess" and then she starts talking and laughing with her friend.... okay! perfect! i love you making fun of me!!!! thanks! Then she proceeds to give me literally the ugliest effing nails of all time. literally every thing i ask for she does the complete opposite. she asks if i want really square or rounded corners, i respond "I mean i don't want to stab anyone but as square as possible..." PROCEEDS TO GIVE ME THE ROUNDEST NAILS OF ALL TIME. then puts a yellow clear coat on top so they look like sh*t. like okay thanks. She is rude to me for literally the entire 2 HOURS i am there. I was so disappointed I almost just asked her to go ahead soak them off because wtf. I literally made a yelp account just to leave this review because holy sh*t. The rudest staff you can ever imagine. I called for appointment for manicure it was set for 2pm. Upon arrival I told the guy all I needed was a gel manicure. Well no manicure was done one gel nail color for $45 freakin dollars. The damn asian lady began removing prior gel and proceeded in putting first coat without doing my cuticles or massage. I stopped her but she said it was too late for manicure. WTH NEVER AGAIN I walked out. read more

Decided to try this nail salon because it super close to my house and I like to try new places. Big mistake. I got a pedicure the lady kept knicking my skin with the drummel tool. I really only get pedicures for the relaxing experience, it was anything but. I was offered no drink to start she soaked my feet maybe 3min in Luke warm water I got a 2min leg rub and the fastest nail polish in my life. I think the worst part is I saw them being nice to everyone else and greeting them totally different ly than I received. I will never go back. Plus my shellac is mediocre at best my toenails were cut weird like she rounded them. read more

Being new to the city, I was looking for a new nail salon. I read reviews on Yelp, and decided on Essence. I'm so glad that I did! The staff is friendly, and personable. The services are professional and efficient. I enjoy going in to relax while getting my manicure and pedicure done. The salon is very clean, and the equipment is new and well maintained. The staff all take sanitation and protecting themselves and customers during COVID19. If you're looking for a great place to be pampered at, this is it! read more

The lady that did my nails was awesome with my nails beyond imaginable. She was completely detailed with everything and did the buffing of the nails excellently with an effort not to buff it too hard to see blood that day. Explanation on why I mentioned "blood": I went to one nail salon back around my hometown and this one lady that did my nails did a horrendous job and was so clumsy to where she buffed my nails so hard that I saw blood in the end. She showed no remorse and just carried on after saying oh... I was just so flabbergasted but just held it in cause the lady couldn't speak any english. WELL the one thing that i look for in nail salons nowadays is how they are detailed in doing my nails and mostly the buffing of them. (haha) It was my first time ever to get my nails "dipped" (I don't remember what the technical term was for having that done to my nails) Although the price of having that done instead of acrylics was high, they told me it was the best option for the kinds of nails that I specifically wanted. As you can probably notice by now that I don't usually come to salons to do my nails that often to know nail terminology... haha) I'm happy with the product and I noticed that there weren't that many pictures on yelp for this business so I wish I had remembered to take a picture of my nails to show you guys the end product but I forgot and since I'm writing this review a couple of weeks late, they've already grown to a long length. The girl who did my nails was unbelievably rude! I politely asked if she could clean under TWO of my fingernails and she practically rolled her eyes at me! She said "this is why you should have a manicure". I'm already paying $35 for gel and she can't simply run an orange stick under two fingernails? UNREAL. I went in for a pedicure yesterday. The place is very spacious and it's very modern and clean (something that is hard to find in the nail salons in Lubbock!) I had no appointment but I was seated right away. Overall, it was very comfortable and I enjoyed the massage! The lady who had my feet cleaned was very sweet :) My pedicure looks very shiny and I like how my feet look all cleaned up now! There is a bit of room for improvement. They need to work a bit on the design. It seemed that at one point my manicurist could not decide a straight or arched dotted line... so she went for something in the middle. I kindly asked her to make it straight and she fixed it right away. By the way, someone below commented that s/he found it rude when the manicurist spoke to each other in Chinese but they are speaking Vietnamese (Sigh) ... and if their English proficiency is not high enough, I don't find it problematic to communicate in their native language :) read more

Make sure you come in with a photo of what you'd like done, so there's no confusion. The workmanship was solid, but even if you describe what you want, and even come in with your nails from a previous session to show them what you like, they'll paint and shape it however they imagined, so just to be on the safe side, show a photo. Otherwise, they would have been 4 stars. read more

Emily and Kyle are the owners and are so sweet and caring and the shop is always clean. That alone is a great reason to get my services done here. read more

The salon is really clean and spacious. I got a full set of SNS done by Julia for $45 and they look great and I got a deluxe pedicure done by one of the men for $50 and it was also great. They both took their time and I will definitely return. They also offer complimentary drinks. read more

Embarrassed me in front of the other customers. I started to give him my opinion but instead decided to leave no tip. Again, something I have never done before. Did a half ass pedicure bc it was closing time, but we're sure to charge for every little thing. They try to be sneaky and over charge you hoping you won't notice but then when you question them, the get an attitude. I did a nail dip and I most certainly have had better!! I had a gel manicure with Lily. She ground down top coat on thumb too far that it hurt, then emory block then aluminum wrap. Was not satisfied with job. She did not cover tips so it wore off in a few days. I will not go there again. read more
