I decided to start taking yoga on a bit of a whim, but it happened during a time I was trying to recover from a large amount of stress. I had been dealing with an unexpected health problem while abroad, which caused me to return home early. Initially I signed up for it hoping that it would help my back and shoulder pain, but it ended up helping me with much more than just that. The self-love practice that is weaved into the class was something I was admittedly skeptical of at first. In my everyday life I didn't often take time to thank my body for what it does (especially after it caused me so many problems), and at first it seemed strange to thank my breath or thank my heart, but even on the first day there was some part of me that really liked it. The energy I got from it made me happy and the more I came the more I started to really understand that it was allowing me to love my body and myself just as it is, without the resentment or the impatience, and it felt wonderful. I started going to classes at least three times a week and over time my back pain did begin to lessen, I became more flexible, stronger, happier and more accepting. In the class I encountered people I would have never met otherwise and was able to see how the class was helping them in their own individual ways as well. It really became much more than a 'lets get fit' experience, it became a place I could go to, not only to improve myself physically, but also mentally and emotionally. read more

I love Essential Evolution Holistic Wellness. All the classes that are offered provide diverse beneficial effects to your body. The Core Strength Vinyasa class is great if you want to build-up your core, increase your flexibility, and strengthen your muscles. If you take this class you will break a sweat. I love that it is offered most days, so it is easy to fit into your schedule. Gentle Yoga is a more relaxing version that allows for a deeper stretch and has a greater focus on breathing. There is also a guided meditation that really dives in to how you should be breathing, along with escaping your conscious mind. All of these classes are shaped to enhance your personal growth. What you put in is what you will get out of it. If you are searching to break a sweat and build up strength, you will. On the other hand, if you wish to release tension, you will. There is even a class, Energy Cleansing Detox, that uses ancient philosophies to clean your body of negativity or strain and bring you back to balance. Mariana does a great job to make sure you are comfortable. Even with a class full of people, the experience almost seems personalized to your needs. As a advanced dancer who has jumped from studio to studio, this is definitely my favorite place. When I began to attend classes at Essential Evolution Holistic Wellness, I was going through a difficult time in regard to managing my stress and anxiety. I figured that yoga might be beneficial to me, but I was not convinced. Soon after attending a few classes with Mariana, I began to feel more relaxed after the yoga sessions. I also felt comfortable and at ease with her, and enjoyed the small class sizes and more individualized help and instruction that I felt I was receiving. I began attending classes more and more frequently. Now I regularly attend at least four times a week. I also started to see Mariana for personal sessions in order to learn better ways to deal with stress. She has a way of making one feel serene and hopeful. She also teaches helpful ways to alter negative thought patterns, utilize meditation, etc. I feel as though I have greatly benefited from both regular classes and personal sessions. I am better able to manage my emotions and anxiety levels. I have also seen a change in my body in regard to tone, strength, and flexibility. Though the studio is not particularly close to where I live, I cannot imagine attending another any other place. I truly feel like a more well-rounded and healthy person due to Mariana and Essential Evolution. I cannot recommend this studio enough. read more

I cannot say enough about this yoga studio. I came to Marianna a year ago after I tried another yoga studio which did not work for me and I thought it would be impossible for me to find any studio which would fit my sudden problems with my body. And I was wrong! Marianna not only helped my body but also my soul. She is a highly professional instructor who knows anatomy, body health problems and she treats every client very personally and tactfully. I met other instructors there too and they are wonderful and caring. It is not a studio but a second home where you can relax, exercise and help yourself in many ways. I have never seen such a homey place where you always want to go. I wish I could go more often but I hope that in a future I will take advantage of many classes at this studio. From the moment I walked into her studio, Mariana made me feel as if I were "home"! I had not been in a yoga class for over 30 years! I was at the lowest and "heaviest" time of my life. I knew that I needed to transform into the person I was born to be, but I had no clue where to begin. Incredible studio. Just incredible! I'm a 200YTT instructor myself - got certified a few years ago in Florida - and have traveled to ashrams and yoga retreats from Sivanada types to Yogaville in VA to Costa Rica. This is one of the most heart centered, safe, authentic kula's (studios) you'll find. Because of my schedule, I've only taken classes with the owner, Mariana, so far. She's the heart of this place and greets everyone with genuine kindness. As someone who's just moved to the North Shore and trying to adapt to this unique population, finding this studio is like coming home. Also, it's not just a warm, fuzzy sort of place/class offering - her vinyasa classes are a WORKOUT too! The variety of offerings is ideal - from kundalini to restorative to vinyasa to something called bo yoga which I can't wait to try! If you've not tried it, I highly recommend you do. I've tried many yoga studios all over the North Shore, and this one is by far the best from my experience. Nowhere else do I receive as much personal attention in a full class as I do at EEHW, and I really appreciate the emphasis the instructors place on breathing techniques and practicing the postures in a healthy way. If you are looking for a studio that is inviting and non-judgmental, EEH Wellness is the place for you. I chose EEH after first speaking with Mariana over the phone, and I am so happy that I did. I absolutely fell in love with it on day one. There are classes for all levels, and the instructors help guide your poses in such a non-intimidating way. Essential Evolution and Marianna have really changed my perspective and enjoyment of yoga. I am person who never liked yoga, but after my wife encouraged me to go to EE and meet Marianna, I became a convert. I can't recommend the Kundalini Yoga - Energy Rising classes strongly enough. I have been practicing Yoga for 20 years off and on, and have always enjoyed and appreciated the spiritual aspects as well as the physical benefits of yoga. However, Kundalini yoga takes my practice to a whole other level. It is a combination of postures, breathing, chanting and meditation that fulfills me (at least) in a new and wonderful way. I have attended various classes at this studio with a number of different teachers. Each experience has been extremely positive. As soon as I walk through the door I can feel the calm and welcoming atmosphere.
