He is super friendly and doesn't rush through the process, he takes his time and makes sure you understand what each test is for and what the outcome is. Sadly, the prescription that I use for my dry eyes is VERY expensive ($250) but the eye drs always write up the prior authorization so the insurance will pay. Well, I called FIVE times last week and left messages bc no one was calling back. They ignored my calls every time. I spoke to Miranda who could have cared LESS! I did MY job, I made the appointment and showed up on time and paid my bill. This office has NO CARE to do THEIR job-to return a phone call and fill out the paperwork! I am so disheartened and frustrated! If there was ONE light at the end of the tunnel, I was able to get a hold of a different office in Deep River. There is a LOVELY lady named Donna who actually answered the phone (shocker) and called CVS and called me back to follow up. The problem still is not solved, but having someone in the office that gets back to me is a huge win. I am hoping to get this problem solved. :(

Don't be fooled by the old illusion of the 3-D bird trick that's been around at least since the early 1990s, but haven't seen it in a while until recently. I recall this being revealed as a gimmick many years ago. Interesting to see it resurface again. What clients get as the end product should match that experience. As customers/clients, we know when we've ever had a pair of good quality lenses and feel that the Optometrist got it right. By the same token, we know upon trying on new glasses whether or not it is either too strong or just a weak, problematic pair of glasses akin to looking out of a window pane leaving the client better off wearing their older pair of better quality for vision care. Now I know times are hard in the world of Optometry business, but this is messed up. I was so happy to stop by & pick up my glasses, but was disappointed upon realizing that they were weak and unhelpful. The Optical Assistant growing a bit frustrated insisted on telling me to just keep the new glasses and wear them for more than a week in order "to get use to them" with her ongoing reasoning to my responses. For the sake of moving on with the time being, I rode out the time and tried wearing them only to find myself struggling & squinting to read the Road Signs from a reasonable distance until too late in approaching to make a turn or lane decision. To be safe, I have had to wear a much older pair of glasses. They are hard & painful on my nose bridge & ears, but at least they are much better on the vision. With the exception of the reading glasses (bifocal area), the new ones are akin to looking through a window pane wasting my time and insurance money. There was no getting used to a new pair of glasses after the first day. Either they work or they do not! Don't make the mistake of given into that which is designed to send your right on out the door with them. Unfortunately, the office remain closed due to the Coronavirus crisis leaving my son and I hanging. Unfortunately, he trusted them and purchased three pairs with two of them being quite expensive or going into the Hundreds of Dollars in total. We were told that the Obamacare insurance used a different lab to cut cost. He was assured that the pay-out-pocket would result in a different lab with better results. What's the point of buying COSTLY frames with lenses that are not a good fit for better vision? Since we were told that our vision hasn't changed much, we could have simply taken our previous prescription to a direct online frame & lense company with high reviews & reputable or to a Costco, BJs, JCPenny, etc. Shouldn't the goal of private offices be to differentiate oneself to stand ahead of the competition? IMO It is one thing to practice good customer service, it is another skill to deliver quality of care with satisfaction for clients/customers for equal exchange of goods and services in terms of money/insurance rendered for payment for prescription glasses.

I suspect that the majority of patients they see are not into the social thing so any poor experiences would most likely not be posted. Anyway here is my experience: 1. Professional Staff? Other than the doctor herself and a lab tech, my interaction was with the elaborately decked out adolescent staff members, pasted with makeup and extremely long flashy fingernails (I suspect someone's daughters). I felt I had entered the lobby of "Teen Magazine" or something like that. Definitely did not make me feel I was dealing with professional offices (or maybe I'm from the wrong generation. I don't know). 2. Get what you pay for? They did not provide the full service they are billing insurance for. I told the Dr. I had seen a retinal specialist in the past. Therefore did not give a full test for glaucoma or diabetic issues (I am diabetic), she said "I'll leave it to them do this". Didn't bother to ask if I was still seeing them and it didn't occur to me to question her at the time (had a senior moment). Once home I called the office to state my disappointment, wanted to have the full service due to me. Manager said she'd look into it. Almost a month now, no one has called me back. 3. Reasonable Delivery Date - Supposably about 14 day delivery for new glasses however mine took over 3 weeks to receive. No one called to alert me to the delay. So I called, was told they had to be remade due to breakage. OK, but still 3 weeks? The basic response was it was because of my health care provider stating THEY required them to use a lab that Durham Eye Care does not use. Well, nice if they would have told me this before I order my expensive glasses from them. At that price I would have ordered from another supplier had I know this. I needed something quick. 4. Did not give me a copy of my prescription. I emailed them stating I needed a copy and to please forward it to me. Going on 4 days not...crickets....no one calls back. 5. Voicemail - You get voice mail a lot with them. Can't understand why, they seem to be staffed well enough (including the kids). I don't bother leaving messages, too frustrating. Personal/General Observation - The medical industry has evolved in to point where patient care and service is secondary to healthcare management. I've experienced this with many family members in a number of health related offices. Here, this office has been non responsive AFTER the service. Call the health provider to inquire and report an issue, you struggling to communicate with service representative in the Philippines, Mexico, Nicaragua, etc. By its own nature a deterrent for the patient to pursue or petition a corrective action. Take the above four comments for what it is worth.

The office was great, she saw me immediately and began tx. Does not get much better than that. The office is very busy at all times, and there is a process if you need a regular exam, but that's the way of busy practices. Anyone who sees Dr O will be getting excellent care.

Hello all, looks like I am looking for a new eye doctor…read more I had my annual appointment with Middlesex Eye Physicians on Saybrook Rd this morning. I have been going to them every year since I returned to CT after 20+ years in the Air Force and never had an issue. Until today. Now they primary purpose to to collect money from you no matter what, not provide quality optometry services to the Middletown area. Apparently they need to keep your credit card on file now with them. In fact, they won't even see you anymore if you do not consent to that. As I was told by the desk supervisor, this is company policy and there are no exceptions. There was a manager in a higher position there, but they refused to come out and talk to me. So they cancelled my appointment. Many may think that isn't an issue, but I do. They have no need to my card when I see them once a year and have always paid all invoices on time. This is how your information gets stolen. My family has been going to this outfit for literally generations. No more. I will not be blackmailed by them just to be seen by their docs. I won't be using them anymore. I dont promote boycotts but am asking folks to be aware of your personal information and do what you can do to protect it. Don't give it out if you don't need to. I am recommending family and friends to reevaluate your relationship with Middlesex Eye Physicians and decide if you want to be abused by this extreme company policy.
