At one point my work offered eye insurance he didn't accept, and I made the mistake of going to Kennedy Perkins to get my new eyeglasses. I was very unhappy with the results. I will never stray again! Dr. Lynch is personable & genuine. You might have to book in advance, but in an emergency, he will make time for you. His staff is warm and always helpful. The office has always been a chaotic mess -- rude staff, long waits, and zero organization -- but we stayed because of him. Then out of nowhere, we get a letter saying he's "retiring" and would no longer accept state insurance. It felt like a punch in the gut after years of loyalty. Imagine my shock when, nearly two years later, he's still there -- fully practicing -- just not taking state insurance anymore. I called recently and said I had private insurance, and suddenly he's more than happy to take new patients. That's not retirement. That's deception. He didn't just make a business decision -- he lied to families who trusted him. Turning his back on long-time patients to cherry-pick who's "worth it" is beyond low. I know I do (I pay for it each month) and so made some phone calls to ensure I was still covered. When I came back to the desk the secretary and I were talking just to clarify the issue. During our conversation I could hear Dr. Rubsam answering my questions, but from what I assume was his office? I couldn't see him ... he was in another room... I'm not sure if he knew I could hear him? Ultimately the secretary told me that Dr. Rubsam did not take my insurance - no problem! I understand our health care system doesn't always work the way we expect. I was willing to pay out of pocket the $175 for the appointment. When I asked if I could still be seen today I heard from Dr. Rubsam in his office again who was screaming "NO!! GOODBYE!!" - I wish I was exaggerating... I can't believe that a medical professional would treat someone like this - I was not rude or aggressive. I was just asking questions. Ultimately, I'm glad they do not take my insurance and was not seen by this individual who did not have the decency to even come out of his office to speak with him but instead scream GOODBYE from behind a wall. Long story short, I found this place due to proximity but I wish I had gone elsewhere. The docs I've met there are fine, if a little rushed due to the overwhelming number of people crammed in the waiting room and being generally over an hour behind schedule. I'm writing this review because my emergency contact was called due to a minor billing issue. Yes, they called my emergency contact over a bill that was one month overdue. Yes, I screwed up. Part of the blame is mine. I admit that. I forgot to pay my bill and then was traveling on business for a month straight. Sue me. Not once did they leave me a voicemail or email me (it is 2019, right?), or otherwise try get in touch with me as far as I can tell. No, instead they decided to call my emergency contact and ask them to get in touch with me about the bill. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional. So just realize that when you're filling out the intake form, they will use any and all information to find you (except, you know, your own phone number or email).
