I was a walk in. Very nice staff. Unfortunately the lady helping me didn't speak very good English. I was under the impression it was cash only so I left to go to get cash from the atm. I also asked the price for the regular pedicure and gel manicure. I was told one price and charge another. I had to take a star away for that. Other than that I had a relaxing pleasurable experience and was completely satisfied with the service. The lady at the front desk stepped out to get something to eat so I understand. I wish I had better things to say about this salon. 1st of all, I tried to patron this salon 3x before I actually was able to even walk in! They have a HUGE sign out front saying they are open on Sundays... They are not. EVER! When I finally get inside, they say it's cash or CashApp only. If this was a private person coming to your home, I'd understand that policy but a whole salon that doesn't take card or any other reputable e-commerce tender makes no sense to me. To add aggravation, they do not have a working ATM. 2ndly, this is the worst gel manicure I ever had. I paid $90 between my gel refill, pedicure and my 2yr old's mani pedi and NONE of these lasted a week!! I'm so upset! Two nails broke and a thyroid is chipping. My pedicure chipped off already and forget about my daughters. That came off that night. Why charge anything if you're not going to put any effort into the outcome. Now I either need to spend more moment somewhere else to fix this or cut off all my nails. My gel manicure from my last salon lasted over a month. This was almost the same price and it didn't last a week. I only kept trying to patron this salon because it is local and it advertises as Black owned. Take that sign down! I wrote this same review on Google. It was my first time going to this place to get a fill-in done previously at a different establishment. I was excited to patronize this place because it's was black owned. Unfortunately, I didn't have the best experience. The tech that did my nails had great conversation but I could also tell it was to make up for the fact that the customer service is very poor. There were five nail techs working that day including the woman that did my nails. And the same woman doing my nails constantly kept stopping to open the front door which remained locked, close customers out and answer the phone. There were four other ladies there and they didn't do anything to help her out, she seemed very overwhelmed and busy. Speaking of the other nail techs, all the women working were Spanish, it's not a problem obviously but it took me aback. I also wanted my brows done but the one doing my nails was the only person there who knew how to do eyebrows and she ended up not doing them because it was busy. The work is subpar, the nail tech didn't know how to do basic designs even though she expressed to me she has been doing nails since the 70s multiple times. My polish also wasn't the neatest but I fixed it w/ a nail file, I'll try to post a picture. That will most likely be my first and last time as the first impression wasn't a positive one. Please go somewhere else, this place is the biggest scam I have ever had the misfortune to come across. came in and the place was empty which I should have taken as a hint . I requested short nails which I was told would be $45, upon completion they said it became $70, I was shocked because the length was short but didn't want to make a scene as the receptionist was being extremely rude and incompetent taking pictures without my consent . This was my first and last time at this nail salon. First, the lady that assisted two days ago with my pedicure did a really sloppy job. And I'm not one to complain but when the nail polish is on your cuticles, nails and toes, there's a problem I complained, she dismissed herself and another young lady fixed it BUT my manicure was another horror story. I guess it's almost time for them to go home so now I have two young ladies polishing my nails at the same time and they did a poor job as well rushing through it. When situations like this occur, it should be free or do it all over. I paid my full price but today I'm going elsewhere to re-do my mani, because as we speak, my gel polish is peeling and im going on a much needed vacation so yes I'm upset for the a pedi and mani gone wrong. read more

Not my first time here and each time I get mixed vibes. Today there were teenagers being teenagers using profanity etc taking care of the business and no one that looked very professional to serve clients. One client asked "who's going to take the money" as she stood waiting at the counter. The table where my nails were soaked off was super dirty. Young lady did her best get the dust off my hands but the area was dirty to begin with. Just a lot of weird stuff going on. Two ladies came to work then one just leaves the other alone and say see you tomorrow. I had such a relaxing experience when I came here with my best friend. Do yourself a favor and get the Jelly Spa Pedicure! My legs and feet felt sooo soft after! The owner was really attentive and checked on us a number of times to ensure we were being given great service. I live in LA but I will definitely be back the next time I'm visiting home. In my honest opinion I LOVE LOVE LOVE the atmosphere. The layout, the music, it was clean AND the person who greeted me was friendly and offered water. This is currently a cash only establishment that also has an ATM on site for $1 machine charge. Now I am giving this business a 2 stars because of the atmosphere. Maybe it was because I came in 1.5 hours prior to closing but I do not like that I was tagged team for my mani-pedi. I didn't enjoy the pedicure as I had hope because another tech was doing my nails. So I wasn't as relaxed and it made me more anxious because I had to watch my toes and fingers being done as the same time. PEDICURE: The pedicure definitely lacked luster. I like to enjoy the experience and I can't say that I did. I had mail polish on my cuticle and skin aside from my nail bed. MANICURE: There was too much nail glue applied. Which looked like tine icebergs under my nail once the acrylic was applied. And though she tried to remove it, she could not (2 fingers like this). The is acrylic all over my cuticle on 8 out of 10 fingers (I counted) and even with asking for the acrylic to be removed she was unable to do so and to be honest I was scared she might hurt me doing so after her first one (so technically 9 out of 10). Numerous request were made for my nails to be made even and more "natural" looking because they were too wide for my fingers. I also felt like they were too thick for my liking as well. I say all this to say that maybe my experience would have been better if there wasn't a language barrier, and the tech was more experienced. This salon is black owned which is why I chose here but the quality of work is lacking so I will not be returning. I desperately needed a pedicure as I have physical limitations that make it difficult to use implements. I also don't paint my nails. Sara at Essie Nails was excellent in understanding my immediate needs with absolutely no judgment of how bad my feet looked when I first walked in. Somehow Sara made my feet look brand new! Customer service from the owner, reception, and the techs along with the unique private booth was so excellent I decided to get a manicure, something I rarely do. Now I plan on becoming a regular; already looking forward to my paraffin treatment. Essie Nails really deserves more than 5 stars. Parking is available near the entrance, waiting time is brief and the atmosphere is quite pleasant. read more

The time on this place says 9:30 AM. They didn't open until 10 AM. The services I asked for was a pedicure & full set with gel. The lady who did my feet she was sweet & took her time. Now the lady who did my hands . That's a different story. When I was done with my feet the owner said she should be here in 10 mins. I waited 30 mins. She literally came in around 11:45 AM. She came and sat down didn't wash her hands or nothing. I told her I wanted a particular style but short nails. She said no she cannot. I told her I get this same style all the time at my other nail tech she's just booked this weekend. She mentioned what she could do to imitate this style. I said okay no problem. When we got to the end of my nails I noticed my nails are very sharp & not in the right shape. I continued to ask her if she can adjust it. She then got an attitude so I immediately clocked out & said it's fine. When being a black owned business , the business or the workers in the business should be cautious of their demeanor and professionalism. If not, people will not continue to support & then us as a community will not be represented as we should due to lack of customers. My name was not Jahl it is Quoia and despite the nonsense you want to put on your review its not my fault your staff is not trained with your protocol and procedures. At the end of the day if your staff promised us something and couldn't deliver because you wanted a deposit she should have said something, but you don't leave a whole party waiting and never show up or call or say anything period. You also had other customers waiting at the time you said you opened but didn't so please do not justify your negligence with trying to blame me and my party for trying to give your business which with thought was professional your butt to kiss. If you act that way clearly we don't need your business to begin with. It was my mother-laws birthday and we almost didn't get our nails done thanks to your shop. And my friend calling to give you a second chance was just that, before we wrote you off. So, thank you for showing us you are not worth our time.
