Leaving a review because I found this place through yelp! Really had a pleasant experience here! I was walking down ferry st just looking for a place to get my nails done! First time getting tips and acrylics! Yolanda helped me! She's a super sweet lady! The place isn't a 5 star spa but if you want pleasant service and a decent price I would recommend!

Overcharges! I paid $40 for a regular fill/ gel polish without any designs. I'm not from the area and was desperate to get my nails done. I usually pay $25 for a routine fill (every 2 weeks). I was charged $15 extra for gel polish on 'long nails' which is absurd. Another reason for her overcharging was "the area" .. but it's in Newark and the place is not upscale at all. Let's start by saying the girl that removed my gel polish was very inexperienced, she barely knew how to use the nail tools. Then they tried to pressure me (the owner or manager Sonia) into getting a regular color on my acrylics. I've been faithfully doing gel for years. I hate regular polish because it chips. I think she thought that I would just leave the salon with wet nails (she was trying to get my out ASAP). But after I waited for an hour for my turn, I was about to get what I want. I told her that gel would be quicker to dry anyway. She went back and fourth with the nail tech who finally agreed to let me do gel. The actual nail tech Maria was good! She was really nice and I can tell she actually likes her job. She also did not do a bad job on my nails, which is why I gave them an extra star. I was also a bit annoyed because I called prior and the woman on the phone told me the nail tech was available and I told them I was coming. I also told them I was getting a fill so I thought that would of secured my spot. It only took me 10 mins to get there- I did not think I would of had an hour wait. It was also too late to go anywhere else. Although it was a one time thing because I was desperate to get my nails done, I would not go back. I also would not recommend them for overcharging.

Went in had to wait 20 min for a nail tech (Ang) to be available, got my $7 eyebrow thread in the meantime. Then got a full set (short and square) so it was on $30 which I found very reasonable. No Frills place but did okay job on my nails. A little uneven between hands but good enough for me!

So I was skeptical going here because of the lack of extensive reviews, but I'm so glad I did! I walked in and there were two threaders, one already with a client. I got a bit nervous because in my past experience, whoever is waiting is not that great, but that stereotype has changed for me, at least at this location. I unfortunately didn't get the woman's name, but I believe she was Indian or Middle Eastern (the other threaded there was Hispanic). My brows had come off of a 2 month non-grooming as a result of my studies but I was transformed by the time I left! Brows were symmetrical and matched! AND she listened when I said leave them thick I am definitely going back! Plus it was only $7!

My first time getting eyelash extensions was a success. They were extremely patient with me. I will definitely return.

The so-called professional, Pam, waxed and burned my armpit, leaving me in a terrible situation. I usually go to my trusted lady in NYC, but being in the Newark area visiting my siblings, I thought I'd give this Brazilian salon a try since I was desperate for a quick treatment. Little did I know, it would turn into a nightmare. From the beginning, I should have realized something was wrong when Pam didn't bother cleaning the area before applying the wax directly to my skin. It felt strange and too hot, but I didn't say anything, assuming she knew what she was doing. I paid, left, and thought that was it. The next day, my armpit started burning intensely, and I couldn't even put my arm down. It turned extremely red and painful. I thought it might be an allergic reaction, so I applied allergy cream and hoped it would get better. Instead, it got worse with each passing day. When I finally managed to get in touch with them and informed them about my horrible experience, they were apologetic and suggested I traveled to Newark and pick up from them another cream. However, being in NYC while they were in NJ made it challenging for me to visit them again. I sent them pictures of my injured armpit, and they assured me it wouldn't scar and offered to reimburse me if I chose to buy the cream myself around the area to use it. Despite applying the cream they suggested, there was no real improvement. I decided to seek help from someone I trusted, and they confirmed that my underarm was indeed burned due to the salon's lack of experience and complete disregard for proper procedures. Frustrated, I reached out to the salon, requesting at least a reimbursement for the waxing service, but they ignored my request. I persisted in contacting them, but they left me on read. Finally, the receptionist (not the owner) called to apologize and offer me my money back. This establishment's behavior is deplorable, showing a clear lack of respect for their customers. They view people as mere sources of income, not as individuals with feelings and concerns. I strongly advise staying away from this place. Even now, two weeks later, I am still dealing with the painful consequences of my burned underarm. It hurts, prevents me from working out due to sweating, and I can't wear sleeveless tops because it looks terrible. This has significantly impacted my enjoyment of the summer and the sun. Take this as a warning - avoid this salon at all costs. They are not worthy of your trust or your patronage.
