Very nice poker room. Not as quiet as I would like it but it is manageable. Good atmosphere and very friendly dealers.

True class would have been to name the stadium after Jack Murphy, the person who the original stadium was named for - that naming choice would have represented continuity, a recognition that history and the city matter. Now Jack Murphy only gets a statue of himself and his dog outside the stadium, with a plaque talking about all the sponsors of the statue, not actually explaining who the man himself was. Again, true class would have been to kept the name Jack Murphy for the stadium - but true class is hard to find in America these days. Snapdragon can never become a legendary stadium like Old Trafford of Man U, the Bernabeu of Real Madrid, or the Maracana of Brazil with a sold off stadium name representing nothing that'll change every 20 years.

The entrance line looked intimidating at first, but it was well organized and moved surprisingly fast. Food and drinks lines were on the longer sides, but with so many vendors and options, so it didn't feel so painful. The park opened in April 2004 and has hosted many concerts from the first ballpark concert by The Rolling Stones to recent concerts by Green Day and Blink-182. Our party came here for the daily guided tour. [Parking]: Free street parking was available on Sunday and I parked near the intersection of Eighth Ave and Island Ave. There is also a parking structure across from the Western Metal Building Box Office (the 6th & K Parkade) with $1 per hour rate ($15 daily maximum until 6 PM). [Check-in]: Visitors are expected to check in at the Western Metal Building Box Office near the intersection of K St & Tony Gwynn Dr. Tour start times range from 10 AM to 2 PM, so check the website for details. [Ticket]: $41.50 per person plus $1 per ticket fee. [Experience]: The tour was expected to last 80 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 90 minutes. During the tour, our party was able to see the Private Luxury Suite, Cutwater Coronado Club, Padres Hall of Fame (Tony Gwynn aka "Mr. Padre," Trevor Hoffman, Dave Winfield, etc.), Breitbard Hall of Fame, Blue Shield Home Plate Club, Press Box, Field Warning Track (including sitting in the dugout with photo opportunities), and the Visitors Clubhouse. The tour guide was fairly knowledgeable. One interesting fact I learned was that there is no left-field foul pole & the corner of the Western Metal Building serves as the left-field foul pole. In addition, visitors get 10% off at the Padres Team Store and Bub's at the Ballpark with their tour tickets (valid only on the day of the tour). Unfortunately, the Team Store was closed during the day of our visit. [Conclusion]: While Petco Park doesn't have the rich history as Dodger Stadium or Wrigley Field, it is still a fine ballpark in its own right with beautiful waterfront views.

My only complaint was the bathroom setup for the men's room. I've never seen a line 50 people deep. It's not like the layout can be fixed, just plan ahead. Good food options that moved people through relatively quickly. And it's always a plus when your team wins.

It's a mid-sized arena (about 12,000 seats), so even if you're up in the higher rows, you still feel like you're part of the action. The energy was electric, especially seeing the Villanova blue and white mixed in with the sea of SDSU red seats. The Good: * The Sightlines: There really isn't a bad seat in the house. Since it's a bowl shape, you're right on top of the court. * The Vibe: The "open-air" concourse is such a San Diego move--it's great to step out for a breather between games without feeling like you're trapped in a basement. * Organization: For a sold-out NCAA event, getting through security was surprisingly smooth, though the "clear bag" policy is strictly enforced, so don't try to sneak anything in. The Not-So-Good: * Concession Lines: Between sessions, the lines for food and beer were brutal. If you don't time your run perfectly, you're going to miss the start of the next tip-off. * Cashless Only: The whole place is cashless now. Great for speed, but a pain if you didn't come prepared. * Parking: It's SDSU, so parking is always a headache. If you didn't rideshare, you probably spent 20 minutes circling the structures. Bottom Line: If you get a chance to see a tournament game here, take it. It's loud, intimate, and has way more character than those massive NBA arenas where you're a mile away from the floor.

My daughter and I went to see Dropout Improve which we were not sure how it would play out being outside and such a large venue. The event was packed yet very intimate. The cast was amazing and they really made everyone in attendance feel like they were included. The seat are stadium style but quite spacious and comfortable. Security and staff at the different kiosks inside were great as well. Very friendly and helpful. Only issue we ran into was since we were closer towards the stage it took a while for us to get out of the venue. And the stairs, lots of stairs depending on where you are sitting. Other than that the location and venue are pretty awesome!
