Previously, for some years, I have been going to Great Clips. Sadly, the results were not always great, if you know what I mean. I recently grew a full beard, too, so I also needed a beard trim, for sure. Tired of the Great Clips crap-shoot, I asked my AI, Claude, for a list of barbers that do both hair and beard trimming in Beaverton and he came up with a short list that included DITA Barbers, only 14 minutes from our house. Perfect! So I booked an appointment at DITA with a barber named, Caleb! There is no parking lot to speak of, but at 10am I had no trouble finding street parking across from DITA. I arrived somewhat early, so a nice young lady named, Destiny, invited me to sit and wait for Caleb, who arrived right on time. The atmosphere of DITA Beaverton was welcoming, nicely chill and the shop is very clean and professional. It felt good. I told Caleb the length I wanted my hair and that I would leave my beard trimming and shaping up to him, so he went to work on me. Such a great experience! Caleb was absolutely meticulous in the care he took cutting my hair. I was impressed. He preceded shaping and trimming my beard with a hot towel to soften things up and also did a razor trim, which felt wonderful and was greatly appreciated! And some facial moisturizer, too! I am very happy to be wearing the results of his efforts! Caleb is everything you'd want in a barber - professional, very friendly and a good conversationalist, so the banter we exchanged was pleasant and interesting, a pleasant change from the Great Clips experience. Doctor appointment on Sunday at 3 1/2 hours before my appointment.They offered another barber who could see me 15-20 minutes after my original appointment time. Since it was my wedding day and I had no realistic chance of finding another barber at the last minute, I had no choice but to accept. I was assured that the replacement barber was experienced, but the service I received did not reflect the level of experience I had been promised. He was late for my appointment , struggled with both the haircut and the straight-razor shave, and took approximately 20 minutes just to trim my beard in preparation for the shave. After about 30 more minutes of unsuccessful attempts with the razor, I finally asked him to finish with an electric machine. I was supposed to leave the shop by 2:00 p.m. so I could arrive on time for my wedding photography appointment. Because the replacement barber was late and the services took much longer than expected, I was late for my wedding pictures. This added unnecessary stress to an already very important day. Unfortunately, I also received one of the worst haircuts I have ever had--on my wedding day. I will not name the replacement barber because I believe the shop is responsible for assigning someone who was not properly prepared to provide the services I had booked. I chose this business because of its strong online reviews, but my experience was extremely disappointing. Canceling my selected barber on the morning of such an important appointment, providing a late replacement, and assuring me that he was experienced when the service suggested otherwise was unacceptable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business or consider it reliable.

So COVID really screwed us up, didn't it?…read more I'll explain. Because of COVID I turned into the families personal hair cutter. On top of that my mother has owned a salon for over 40 years; so it was assumed that the talent was genetically passed to me. It was not, cutting hair is REALLY hard but I've done it for my whole family for 4 years now. Fast forward to today, a friend reminded me picture day is in 2 days and alas, my normal hair cutting day is on the weekend and has since passed. Thankfully antique barbershop responded to my plea quickly. Their website is SO easy to navigate AND book. I found that there were only 2 barbers who could do kid haircuts and decided to pull my kid out of his afterschool program to come. When my 7 year old found out he froze. He didn't want to come with me knowing it was someone else cutting his hair. I bargained with him and asked him why he didn't want Preston to cut his hair? He said because he's a stranger and he doesn't want strangers cutting his hair. I was anxious going to the shop but the parking was ace and the shop was way easy to find. My kid was still saying how he didn't want to go through with it while walking through the doors but Preston greeted us so warmly that my kid hopped up on the chair and sat like a stone. Preston made quick conversation with my kid and gained his trust. Preston moved quickly and cut my 7 year old hair in 30 minutes. It was incredible. Preston spoke to my son the entire time and it came so easily for the both of them. As we were walking out my son said "I think only three people can cut my hair now. You, grandma and him."
