Bought three sofas last August after three weeks of use we noticed how horrible the quality was contacted then and the manager tried to gaslight me that it's the way we are using the family room so if you buy a sofa I guess u r not supposed to sit on it or use it. Horrible customer service, I would never buy here nor recommend anyone to buy their overpriced furniture from here either. I came in here with my parents. When we walked in, the two women just stared at us up and down but didn't even say hi or welcome. We moved right along to browse around and an old Asian lady comes up from behind me as if she is a security guard and we aren't allowed inside. She said very rudely "yes, hello, hi???" And runs up to us. It was so uncomfortable. She is very stuck up and not friendly at all, and starts asking us if we have never been to an Ethan Allen store before because they only do custom made furniture and trying to make the place sound fancy...but it really isn't. My dad sits on a "recliner" but it's not even an automatic one..... take that as you will!! lol He literally had to lean back 4-5 times really hard to get the thing going and the leg part comes out.. he almost had to throw out his back. It was really ghetto furniture and like $2000. We had just looked at chairs and recliners at a different furniture store across the shopping plaza (much better place) where their products were much more superior and sophisticated, so I really wanted to laugh when I saw this manual recliner... Purchased our 3rd sofa from Ethan Allen, and after a few months it was squeaking when one sat down. They sent sometime fix it, and it lasted a couple of months. After a year the fabric is stretched out and it still squeaks. I could have purchased a sofa at Wayfair for better quality. Our previous sofas lasted 20+ years and never stretched out. They are saying it's normal wear and tear, which is absolutely ridiculous. It is inferior fabric, and they won't own up to it. We have been Ethan Allen customers for over 30 years, but this time has been a horrible experience. Both customer service and furniture quality has degraded over the years. Their modular sectional looked worn out and flat. I asked about it and the woman said it's just how it's supposed to look because of the "relaxed style." After taking off pillows to the other cushions, it was only the middle cushion that was flat and worn down. So no, it was not a "relaxed style." It was poor quality and she lied. read more

Where do I begin? This was the worst experience of my wife's and my life. We spent $16,000.00 and it took close to eight months to get our furniture. It finally arrived today! It started the day after buying our furniture, last August, when we received a phone call that we had been under-charged $125 for shipping (we had already paid $250 for shipping). I told our sales lady that that was honestly unacceptable after paying what we had the previous day. They ended up adjusting the sales price to make up for the extra shipping fee. We had been told 3-4 months shipping for our furniture, and were hoping for a Thanksgiving delivery, or at the latest, Christmas. We were told that everything had to be shipped together to save on shipping for them, and to coordinate with the delivery company. We understood and were fine with this. The ONLY communication from Ethan Allen was when WE would call to ask for updates. We were treated very poorly on the phone by our sales lady, and the manager Sara. When I told Sara at the end of December that ultimately it was Ethan Allen's fault for the delays, and blaming the the transport was not appropriate. She said "I know what my job is!" Needless to say, we finally received an email in January that our furniture was on it's way from the East coast! Well....not quite. When it arrived in Portland, only 1/3 of our order was on board. We received a phone call asking if we still wanted only our bed delivered. I said yes, but asked how could only 1/3 of our order be on-board, when it had been clearly stated that everything MUST ship together. Again...excuses. This has been an exasperating experience, and I would not recommend anyone shop at the Bellevue Ethan Allen. Once they have your money, the communication regarding your order stops, and you will be truly disappointed. We were re-imbursed 10% off of our order, which helped, but was a pittance for the trouble this was. read more

Update: Ethan Allen sent a repair person out this morning & I was told repair was covered under standard warranty. The repair man was quick, efficient & very experienced- it was a simple fix. I appreciate the quick response once escalated to management. Kathy was incredibly professional regarding the situation & diligently followed up. I am disappointed with the overall process but happy & thankful it was easily resolved. Our designer Julia was fabulous and put together a wonderful design for us for a total house makeover - new carpet, drapery, furniture, paintings, accessories, etc. All of our carpets and drapery were installed and the furniture/accessories arrived and looked great. We were really disappointed one piece of furniture - a kitchen table top that looked scratched (versus distressed) and the Regional Manager Kathy agreed to replace the table top. It has been months and the table has not been replaced nor can we get an answer as to whether it was even ordered. Unfortunately, it has turned a great experience into a really bad experience and I would never work with Ethan Allen Bellevue again. Kathy, it is ad to see that you are unwilling to invest in your customers the same way we invested in you and your team. Really disappointing. read more

Pre-sale they couldn't contact me enough, were very aggressive with phone calls, texts etc, but after an issue with sofas and sizing I couldn't get a call back. Left messages etc, but no response. The sales, Jennifer, is mean and rude, she didn't seem was willing to help after I shared with her about my timeline. She immediately refused to get product information when I said the waiting time was long (4-6 months). She gave me the price with the size not what I was asking. I came in with a simple request for sofa pillows. Molly assisted me and went above and beyond. She suggested I bring in samples of my sofa and wall color. We ended up looking through lots of fabric samples. She helped me find exactly what I was looking for (and what blended best in my living room). To top it off, I hadn't been able to pick up the order over Christmas. My phone rang yesterday and (I think her name was Anna) called and offered to bring it to my house. We had the pleasure of working with Julia Corliss who put together a really beautiful room for us! She came in, measured and put together ideas that I would have never chosen on my own. I am a very visual person and was having a hard time "seeing" the final outcome with all the pieces. I felt like it was going to be crowded, but her talent shined through. Our room is magazine picture quality, perfect sized pieces for the space AND family comfortable! I notice a lot of the reviews are related to customer service. My designer is Brittany Whitney and for the past 4 years we have been working our way thru my house room by room. She paid close attention to my tastes and has consistently added perspective to the plan. The only time I have been unhappy with a purchase is when I made a purchase of an end table that was out of scale with the room. Unfortunately for me, she was on maternity leave. Since it was my error, the table now lives at my Mom's house. She hunted down an item that I had my heart set on but could no longer get. She has a good eye for adding depth, character to a room and easily moves between modern and traditional products. I have so enjoyed working with her! Not super impressed with Ethan Allen - I was trying to find armchair covers for a original Ethan Allen, and it took 4 months and 4 separate emails (finally the one to Corporate got an answer) to get a reply. The manager was very nice and responsive, but she couldn't find the fabric I needed. She offered to make ones with other fabrics, but I decided to go with a less expensive company. I really hate to write this negative review as I was a very loyal customer that has spent over 100 K in the store. The quality is not the same as it used to be. My original furniture lasted over 20 years and is still in good shape with some wear. The new items I bought in the last couple of years have been a huge disappointment. I bought a glass table with a steel frame. The coating is coming off the metal (it has been fixed once.) It is doing it again and now it just looks cheap. Well, the table was over 1200.00 and for that price it should last. It is a defective piece and needs to be replaced. Other piece is the log side table. Love the look although the table is splitting in two with a huge crack in the middle. I complained and of course haven't heard back. Three emails (with pictures), two calls (one to manager) and one call to corporate -still no response. The worst part is I need to buy lots more furniture and have told them that. I really don't feel I can trust this company to take care of their customers. As a business owner myself I would be horrified if my salespeople didn't take care of a loyal customer. This is a terrible experience. The staff promised us the furniture will arrive our house in 3 months. During the process, no one is tracking our product and notifying us. Until the 3 months term has been reached, we know nothing about the delivery and no one tried to explain to us what happened. When we call and ask for a reason, they have tons of pretexts. And even ask us to pay for the cancellation fees and liquidated damages ourself if we want to cancel the order. After our complains, there is no efficient solution for the problem and the delivery date has even being pushed further. I actually waited 4 months to get the products. There is no any good service during the process. I won't suggest any of my friends purchase anything there. read more

Cannot seem to reach anyone about a warranty return. The "custom" desk chair has plastic wheels that pop in and now will not go on. This is like Office Depot quality. hope that my experience could serve as a warning for all the future customers. Ethan Allen have a bad business ethics and sales hungry where they will promise and guaranty something to make a sale. People who's involved Store Manager : Sue Tuttle Sales associate: Xichuan Li (Show Li) Design Consultant: Britney Whitney My mother is in the market for some new couches for our living room, she doesn't really speak any English so when she was looking for furnitures she saw Ethan Allen provided Chinese translations and services. We were assigned by a Designer named Xichuan Li who speaks Chinese and who teamed with Brittany Whitney and their store manager Sue Tuttle. They suggested give them a budget of forty nine thousand US dollars. Though not knowing what the market price was, my mother wired forty nine US dollars, because they have told her to have a bigger budget if she doesn't like the items they can return them. Xichuan Li had told my mother that "they wanted to see how the home would feel with the stuff they picked " Remember, my mom asked for two couches and a couple of paintings. On December 12th we received a call saying on the 13th the designer will show up and help decorate the furniture that we ordered. On December 13th a large trucked stopped in front of our home with two mover without an designer asking to unload all the stuff. We were really confused because we had only order two couches and possibly a couple of paintings. So we called Ethan Allen asking where's the designer and what we gonna do with all 75 items ranging from table tops, vases, 30+wall paintings and a invoices of over 50k. We wanted to refuse the shipment and told both the truckers and the store a gal from Ethan Allen. She said her manager told us just unload the stuff and they will have a designer(Britney) tomorrow as it was her day off. So I asked her if the items will be returnable after it's unloaded she said yes, The next day at 4pm the designer came with 1 designer (Britney), 1 Chinese interpreter,1 wall painting hanger(which cost 180 for less than 2 hours of work) and 1 helper. They stuffed everything they could to max out the budget. Mother said that's enough, first we didn't order this many stuff and second it doesn't fit our likings and ask them to halt the project and return the items expect the couches we had actually wanted. They begin to sound demanding where she tells my mother " I really like these paintings on your wall , why don't you like it" my mother repeatedly telling Dante to translate she doesn't like the paintings and they don't fit the house like the way she wanted. Then the designer told her that we had ordered and paintings it would be 15% restocking fee if were returned, my mother said that's not what the sales consultant told her and we asked for Xichuan to clear things up what she has told my mother. They said Xichuan don't work with us anymore whom took all the commissions from our sales over 50k worth of items. Then those people left. After 1 week of no response we called the Ethan Allen Bellevue store and they said they were busy and will have the truck come pick up the items we wanted to return on day 1. After a few days, stuff were still not picked up. Soon another week goes by where we constantly contacting them. The reply we got was the store manager Sue Tuttle stated Ethan Allen wasn't liking the idea of us returning the paintings which was bought with their sale's intended making commissions. So we had to confront her multiple times to return the items that we don't want and didn't even order on the first place. Finally we had to come to an conclusion where the manager too felt it was unethical on what Xichuan Li as an sales consultant did and agree to refund but here's the problem, before we purchased anything it was said that if return it would return on method we wanted. The payment was wired from China where I first stated in the beginning so having Ethan Allen wiring back where it would lose value due to currency exchange rate is different and fees that would be collected on the receiving side. So we began to telling the manager where they promised will be returned to our US Visa card/account. She begin to feel irritated and sound tone has changed to hostile then telling us we were "circulating around and don't know what arrangement we had made, she also said "actually, I don't even know we refund international wire or not. You may not get any refund." She then beginning to denying a lot of stuff that we talked about saying she didn't know anything about this arrangement, even though Xichuan Li stated without Sue's permission she wouldn't be able to place our order. At the same time, Xichuan recommended the return be refunded to store credits where we trade with her other customer for cash under the table! We denied, because it doesn't sound right. Overall, I do NOT recommend shop at Ethan Allen Bellevue Store. read more

We had the pleasure of working with Julia Corliss at the Bellevue Ethan Allen location. From the time we met Julia and shared our vision, it was a wonderful experience. Julia visited our home to understand our space and take measurements. We then met at the store to review the design plans she had made for us. The design plans were simply perfect. Julia simply "got us"! She came home when the delivery was made and ensured that everything went smoothly. We are enjoying every single piece and how amazingly it has all come together. We ordered 5 pieces of furniture and they all showed up well before the estimated delivery date which is almost unheard of when custom ordering furniture. We ordered the Benham side chair in white from the Ethan Allen store in Cenntenial, CO. They were delivered two months ago. They arrived full of a fine black dust, the chair base was cracked, some of the finish was thin, sawdust was varnished in. Today we noticed the back is also cracked. As for the back, it is clear it was cracked prior to being painted. The finish is very light on some of the rungs, so much so that the grain is showing through. Also, there is some sawdust under the varnish. The sales people at the Denver Ethan Allen store tell me the cracks are due to the dry climate in Denver. If that is the case, perhaps they should not sell wood furniture here in Denver. Our previous dining room table and chairs were thirty years old, had been movved across the country 4 times, adn were in better shape than these chairs. I would like my money back but was told that they will fix our chairs instead. It has been a lot of phone calls and emails, I am very busy with work and life. This is taking way too much time. Do not buy furniture here. Prices are high, I expected quality. Maybe their brand is one of those that is now going down hill. Save your time and money, shop elsewhere! I was told these chairs are covered under warranty for 5 years. When I asked what happens after that, I was told problems usually don't happen after 5 years. I would rather have items that are excellent quality from the beginning and stay that way, become a loved piece of the home. Terrible quality, slow repair service (in fact, still waiting). Had I known when I accepted these chairs what was to come, I would not have accepted them. read more

Our items were even ready 4 weeks "early" and were delivered separately as pieces finished so we never waited for the entire order to be finished before delivery. I have no beef with Ethan Allen, I actually love the furniture and the quality. However, this particular store has horrible service. I am not one to leave a long story on Yelp, but I will say that my husband and I went in the store with the intent on spending $8k on a sofa and walked out not only irritated, but offended as well. We immediately drove up to the Lynnwood location and the friendly and experienced sales people there completed the transaction and won our business. If you have the option, I suggest driving to Lynnwood as well. read more

We had a great experience working with interior designer Alyssa Roller at the Bellevue Ethan Allan. She came to our house twice to help us refurnish our family room. She was respectful of our ideas and really took the time to understand what we wanted. Then she kindly guided us to the right choices. She was very organized, precise, and her follow-up was excellent. And she gave us options so we could get the best price. We received the furniture more quickly than originally quoted and the delivery guys were friendly, efficient, and right on time. We are extremely pleased with our new furniture! We have long been customers of EA and have been happy until our last experiences. This business has changed. It is no longer the quality design center it used to be. They are just sales people, not designers. We were sold poor designs for window treatments and ottomans. They designed our room with fabric covered chairs directly in front of a western exposure window. They arrived with instructions to NOT place them in front of a window due to fading. When I asked about this they replied I need to add more window treatment to filter the light. The ottomans cannot be moved anywhere else in the room. What? They just sold me new roman shades for the windows to match the ottomans without mentioning they needed more treatments. Perhaps a different design for window treatments and or ottomans would have made more economic sense. Now they want to sell us shades within the window under the Roman shade to protect the fabric. Seriously? I had wooden blinds in the window before we took them out for the Romans. Now they want to sell us their blinds as a back up to protect the ottoman. This is only part of our bad experience with this store. So much more went wrong with our last home improvements with their design team, I'm done. I had always valued the quality of their products. They just are not the same furniture store or designers they used to be. Our last pieces purchased are unfortunately a bad memory, courtesy of Ethan Allen. read more

I HIGHLY recommend the Bellevue Ethan Allen store, and PLEASE request Charla as your designer! Charla is just amazing, and extremely gifted at making your space look better than you could ever imagine. We re-did our living room, dining room, family room and kitchen with all new furniture from Ethan Allen. Charla visited our house with the old furniture we had, and she was able to see ALL the possibilities to not only update our house, but have all of our furniture and window treatments totally fit our tastes, and truly make our house feel SO welcoming and just beautiful. She was able to tell almost immediately with her first home visit what our tastes are for our home. I was amazed! There isn't a day we walk into our house and just LOVE what we see now that everything is complete. What I love about Charla is she comes up with amazing ideas that i would have never thought of, she has such an amazing eye for colors, patterns, designs, how things can fit spatially, and she is efficient, and she will not waste your time. But, most of all, she is NOT pushy and Charla's TRUE interest is her client, and she will never push you to buy something you aren't sure about. I love this about Charla. It's almost as if Charla treats your home as her own home. It is totally worth the cost to buy from Ethan Allen... the HIGH quality, durability, attention to detail is like no other furniture we've had before.
