We came here on a weekday and had the restaurant to ourselves. Upon walking in, we were welcomed by…read morethe sight and smell of (incense?) which bothered us a bit but otherwise, the meal was good. We had two orders, which they were welcome to combine into 1 shared big plate as we planned to all share together. They were happy to accommodate a gluten-free meal for my friend (we believe most things on the menu are gluten free to begin with) which was great. They have a sink next to the restaurant counter for customers to wash their hands prior to using their hands to eat their entrees. As for the injera, it was a bit dry but they did have a decent amount of quantity for the price. Overall price and service for the restaurant was good for the food you get. Service was decently quick! As for the food, it was pretty flavorful. We all enjoyed all the veggie options, especially the lentils. The lamb really good and flavorful and I would return just for this! Again, my only gripe is that the injera is a bit dry. In addition, the sauces for the chicken vs beef tasted pretty similar so we wish they were differentiated a bit more. What we ordered: - 2 person Combo (except lamb) w/6 veggies (we chose Doro Wet (Chicken) and Siga Wet (Beef) - Yebeg Tibs (Lamb entree)

We usually get takeout and I'm always impressed by how well it is packed. We got the meat combo for 2 which includes 2 meat dishes, 6 veggie sides, and injera. Injera is the soft spongy "bread" that you eat the curries with. For the meat, we ordered the chicken dish, Doro Wet, twice and each order contains with one boiled egg and one chicken drumstick. For the 6 veggie sides, we ordered all the six listed on their menu - the collard greens, mix veggies, different types of lentils. I wanted to sub one of the veggie sides with the cottage cheese appetizer but they said they couldn't do that - boo. The food was ready quickly about 15 mins or so. The portion sizes were great. And wow, the food was tasty. The injera was perfect, not too sour which is something I always think about before getting Ethiopian food. If it's too sour it can overpower the curries but it should have a slight hint of tanginess to be tasty. The Doro Wet was spicy and having the 6 veggie sides helped with balancing it out. We enjoyed our meal, especially the injera on the bottom that gets soaked in all the juices - yummy!

Tried the veggie special platter (we were told it was for two people): this was by far the smallest Ethiopian veggie platter I had ever beheld. The veggie and lentil dishes were inoffensive, though the injera was much more tart that I was used to. After finishing our meal, my dining partner and I were still quite hungry, at which point we decamped to a Thai restaurant across the street for tom yum, spring rolls and dumplings. For a platter for two that cost nearly thirty dollars, this should not have been the case. While the restaurant is conveniently located on Main Street with ample parking, I do not intend to return - the food was just about okay and the portions were frightfully small.

I've been wanting to go to this place for a while and we were able to sneak in this past Saturday…read morefor a family meal, me, the wife and two kids. From the start, the place is fairly small and the decor is not anything overly special. There is a small bar/counter in the right and a buffet just past that with lots of closely spaced tables and 2 nicer tables that are bench seating. The decor and ambiance is not why you should try this place. The service was also just ok. It was a bit slow with not that many diners but it appeared that there were two people in front end service who also did work in the kitchen and a single chef/cook who just worked in the kitchen. There is a bit of a language barrier/accent in the speech of the servers but they are friendly and helpful. The service was ok, but again not the reason to try this place. The food, yes that is why you should try this place out. The injeera was soft, pillowy and had the right acid notes that I am used to in Ethiopian food. The lentils / veggies were a huge hit for the family, especially the cabbage side and the Misir Wot. The Alcha Kik Wot has never been my favorite and it was ok, but the rest were a big hit. The meats were also popular with the family. The Doro Wat was super flavorful and I'm sure the egg would be a hit for those that like Egg Curries (not our thing). The sauce over that part was thick and very flavorful forward. Our favorite meat dish was the lamb tibs however. Nice and cut small, the flavor was a huge hit for the whole family. As usual with Ethiopian food, the dishes were all served on a single piece of injera with other pieces rolled up around the plate. When we left, there was not a bit of food left on the plate. Another bonus is that it's not too expensive for what you get and is very family / group eating friendly. This is definitely a place to try if you like flavor forward ethnic foods. Parking is easy on the street just outside and it's right next to the inn at Middletown if you're staying in town.

She really is a believer of building community and that can be seen in the way that she treats her customers and also is visible by the people walking through the door of her cafe. I have never had such a positive experience in regard to feeling so welcome and so happy while somewhere. My friend Taylor and I chatted with the staff and every customer. What an experience! All of the food and beverages were freshly prepared. Allergies were taken care of along with other dietary restrictions and preferences. They have options for GF, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan and more. WOW! Everything we tried was amazing. It was my first time trying Nigerian food and I was super impressed! Everything was flavorful and unique. I will be back again for sure. This was an experience unlike any other!

The woman working couldn't have been nicer and all of the customers were beyond friendly. For drinks my friend and I tried the Chapman and zobo, both were good on their own but the nice woman working convinced us to mix them together and WOW, highly recommend. We also tried a blueberry latte which was tasty. For food we ordered puff puff, plantain waffle, sardines and eggs, and vegan village rice bowl. We finished it off with a slice of banana bread. Everything was so flavorful and not overly salty and not oily. The puff puff were so light and fluffy! I can't wait to come back and try more things. We got a lot of recommendations from customers coming in... definitely coming back for jollof rice and pepper soup! Side note: there is construction going on in front of this business. Don't let it deter you, there is a lot of street parking nearby and you can park at the bank across the street while the construction is going on!

I love it because it actually is like a cafe, just with a full service menu. There were people doing work or having a quiet meal to themselves. (I went on the evening of Marathon Monday). My sister and I ordered the meat veggie combo for 2, where you get 1 meat entree and four veggie sides of your choice. We got the lega tibs, tikil gomen, shiro wot, misir wot, and kik alicha. We were quite hungry so we cleared the entire thing. It was a perfect portion for two! The injera is soft and the proportion was perfect. The variety of vegetables sides were wonderful with different flavors and textures. The sides were so good that next time I might just try the veggie combo. We got a medium spice and it was warm and flavorful, but not over powering. Priced very competitively for Huntington Avenue Boston. I would highly recommend it. Just be prepared that the cuisine is eaten with fresh flat bread not with utensils so wash your hands and get ready for a delicious experience. Note you order at counter, but the service was quick and friendly. Also try the traditional Ethiopian coffee. The presentation is amazing and it is a deep flavorful coffee. My niece recommends the peanut tea - she said it taste like like drinking a yummy peanut butter smoothie.
