Incredible experience. The most fun I've ever had shooting. The facilities are immaculate and the staff is very helpful and friendly. They spent time with my 60 year old mother who has never used a shotgun in her life to give her some pointers. It's set up like a golf course with different stations to shoot. You're riding around in a golf cart to different shooting locations. lt really doesn't get much more fun shooting. This isn't a novelty, it's something you'll want to come back to. I have regularly visited Etowah Valley Clays for more than ten years. The staff is helpful, and quick service. The pricing is the most competitive, and easy on a retired man's budget. If I'm low on ammo, the park supplies, and at prices you find at a discount store. I usually shoot 50 rounds, and takes a little over an hour to complete 10-12 different stands. My three girlfriends and I went to go skeet shooting. We are all beginners with skeet but have all experience with firearms. Mike was amazing! Even though they were having a tournament, he spent over an hour with us to make sure we all knew what we were doing and felt comfortable. Then he brought us out to the skeet area and helped each of us us shoot until we hit skeet! He did such a great job teaching us I hit the first one pulled!! Do you like golf? Do you like shooting shotguns? Well, let's combine the two and you've got Etowah Valley Sporting Clays Park. I go on a lot of meetings in my line of work, a lot. Golf and dinners get played out pretty quickly. So, when trying to coordinate a meeting of the minds, my boss and I came up with the idea of Etowah Valley and it was a huge success. Right around an hour door to door from Midtown to the park, Etowah Valley is just a short trip up 400. When you make your way out there for the first time, you might think you've made a wrong turn, but keep on going. The folks in the shop could not have been more helpful. Some of us were experience gunsman and some of us weren't. But, they took the time to walk us through everything. We rented a couple of high powered golf carts (and shotguns) and made our way out to the park. The park is split into different courses, almost like multiple golf courses. Throughout each course are anywhere from 12-18 stops where you take aim, one person at a time and shoot some sporting clays. Whether you like guns, like the outdoors or just like to have a good time, I highly recommend making an afternoon out of a visit to Etowah Valley. My clients loved it and so did I. Be sure to take some pictures because it offers some rare opportunities for some unique captures. I will go back. The staff was wonderful and so was the experience. This is a fairly new sporting clays park, located behind the Premium Outlets on GA 400 North, in Dawsonville. It's a great way to get into clays without the intimidation factor of skeet and trap. Plus, I think it's more fun, although more challenging, than a standard 5-stand. The clubhouse is new, and very nice, and the grounds are well kept. There are two 13 station courses, a white course and a blue course. One course is 50 shots for $18, both courses is 100 shots for $30. You can walk one course but I can't imagine walking both courses with 50 lbs of guns, shells and gear--so rent a cart for $12. Last time I went I rented a cart just for one course, since I was feeling lazy. Felt good man. There is also a large 5-stand if you want the standard presentation, but it looks boring compared to the woods courses. A 6 station course with cart is $30 per person. They have guns for rent, but we brought our own so I can't vouch for the quality of those guns. You can also rent eyes and ears, but as with any gun club you really should bring your own. The stations vary from somewhat easy to extremely challenging. The controls can be set to singles, report pairs, or true pairs, depending on your skill level. There were a few beginners in our group, including 2 women who have never shot before, and everybody was able to catch on quickly. Every station had a very different presentation, and some were ridiculous in their challenge. The courses are kept fairly neat, but there are a few inconsiderate shooters using automatic shotguns and not picking up their ejected shells. I saw more shells on the ground than I would have liked, especially compared to all-private gun clubs in the Atlanta area. The hazards of being open to the public--the place is only as clean as the dirtiest guest. I used a 12-gauge Weatherby, and everyone else in my group used 20-gauge Beretta Silver Pigeons. With padded vests, the women were comfortable handling and shooting the 20s. After the first station, the beginners were not intimidated at all and had a lot of fun (although one did have a sore shoulder for the rest of the day). This is a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I saw a few first date-ish looking couples. Very creative! Give it a try. read more

I wish I could rate higher, but the service at Etowah Valley was very poor. I made a reservation for a large group (15+) over a month in advance for a Saturday morning in May, and even called to confirm everything the day before. When our group arrived, they had no guns available for us and also had not set aside any golf carts even though I reserved those in advance too. They basically shrugged their shoulders and said tough luck. Fortunately, another group finished up right after we got there so we were able to use their guns and carts, otherwise our large group would have wasted an hour driving to this place. Not sure how they dropped the ball that hard despite the communication from me. read more

This is a great place for those that enjoy wing shooting. They have a very nice clubhouse with fireplace and a lounging area for the shooters to relax. The sporting clays courses consist of 14 stations on the blue course and another 14 stations on the white course. The shooting is designed to simulate the movement of wildlife that a hunter would hunt. You can walk the course or rent a golf cart to make moving from station to station easy or less time consuming. A round of 100 clays and a golf cart rental runs around $38.00. A lot less than a round of golf and alotmore enjoyable. There also a 5 stand platform that allows 5 people to shot from a platform and shot a lot of different directions without moving around. Richard (the owner) runs a well organized operation and is extemely interested in all of his customers having a good time. Safety is a big deal and the staff makes sure everyone knows how they are expected handle guns while on the property. If you prefer shooting live birds, Richard offers a combination sporting clays (50 clays) and pheasant, chukar and quail on land that they lease. I took my fiancé to a Etowah Valley for a shotgun lesson with Rod. I've shot for years and wanted her to learn the right way. We could not have been happier with Rod's instruction. He did a great job of explaining safety, technique, differences in choke tubes. He helped her find a gun with a good fit and get accustomed to shooting it. The boyfriend and I made a stop here while we were camping a few miles away (brr yeah I know it's cold!). We bought the Groupon, and got 25 clays and 25 rounds each with gun rental for $35. It was his first time shooting rifles, and my first time shooting anything, but the easiest course (not sure which color) was great for my level. My boyfriend thought I wouldn't hit a thing, but actually I hit the sim pair on my first try and he didn't hahaha :P. We went on a Sunday and the line was almost out the door, so plan accordingly! I have to give Etowah 5 star rating for sure! My boyfriend and I drove a ways to get here based on other good reviews but we were both very impressed with the level of customer service. We both aren't too advanced in sporting clays so we decided to get a private lesson. We paid for a private lesson and our instructor was named Phil and he was awesome. He made sure that we each had a proper fitting gun based on our body size and height and made us feel super comfortable. Phil took us to a few different stands and instructed us on how to properly stand and shoot. He was very patient and made us feel like pros by the end of the lesson. Couple of problems. 1. the sporting clays course we did didn't even add up to 100 total targets. It only adds up to 94. 2. They utilize digital thrower counters instead of the honor system. This is a problem because throwers malfunction and targets preemptively break so when that happens you just lose a target that you paid for. Definitely not the best establishment I've been to but not the worst either. read more

It is a nice place to shoot clays so long as everything is working properly. The last three times we have gone to shoot the trap range was either down or not functioning properly. The girl that runs the front is helpful and nice and so is the young man that fixes the machines. It is just hit or miss there sometimes. This place has awful customer service. My dad took me today and we had a great time. We didn't realize they had closed so they came and cleared the course. We paid to shoot 200 and only got to shoot 100. They did not inform us what time they closed. When we went to return the stuff they would not refund us. The guy behind the counter told us to "not be so slow next time". We will NOT be going back. There are other places that we can shoot that actually care. Customer service was awful! Not to mention the trampoline stop was broken so it wasted 10 of those shots. If that young guy behind the counter is the manager he is rude and needs a lesson on customer service. read more

In addition, they have a super practice area for those who want to learn the sport. They also have everything you need to start shooting.
