I recently discovered this hidden little gem in the heart of adorable downtown Lynden. If you like used books, and if you like coffee, or if you at least like one of those, you need to head here for a truly delightful experience. I arrived early on a weekday morning, laptop in hand, and sipped on a delicious salted caramel mocha while I got some work done at a window seat. I also took some time to browse their wonderful books, including a massive cookbook section which I found hard to resist. The lady at the counter was very sweet and helpful, and the customers who came in were all cheerful and friendly. I also enjoyed a bagel and cream cheese, all-in-all the beginnings of a perfect morning in the north end of our lovely county.

Lovely owners/employees, cozy atmosphere and amazing prices. Everything is made even better by the fact that the coffee beans are roasted here in small batches! Along with the great selection of books to browse through there are a good numbers of tables and chairs! Wifi is free and there are even a few games like chess and playing cards available.

Stop in! You won't believe the selection

Such a great little bookstore/coffee shop. The perfect place to grab a great coffee and spend a little working, reading, or playing games.

They mostly just have Christian books. Coffee is average. Typical Christians, they don't follow any rules to keep customers safe from COVID.

My latest good read found here, 'Persuading Annie,' an update of Persuasion by Jane Austen. Still enjoying London fog's to drink.

Unpleasant experience will never go back there. Coffee is better at 7/11 and the books you can get for 1.00 at the thrift store.

I love this place. How great is it to pick up a couple cheap used books, plop down on the couch and sip some coffee. Relaxing environment.

What wonderful service, coffee and networking for other bookstores in the area! A long standing favorite of mine in downtown Lynden.

Today I stopped in and got a breakfast (Farmers) hand pie, an Irish cream coffee, and a white chocolate raspberry scone. I'm so disappointed. The handpie was not even half filled, the very nice young lady nuked it in the microwave to an inch of its life. It was dry, hard as a rock and the small amount of filling was not worth the price. I only ate half as the crust was too hard to bite into. So then still hungry I tried the scone. Even worse. A glutinous blob of no flavor. The size and texture of a hockey puck. I realized too late the the bottom was also burnt. I threw it away. The coffee was ok, but way overly sweet. I wish so bad I could give good stars but I spent $23 and all I got was a mildly ok coffee.

When I placed my order I asked for coffee to please be served in a reusable "ceramic" cup as a "here" order. I had seen a dish bin with empty cups and was initially thrilled that this would be an option! I'm so over adding single use cups to the waste stream. It really hurts to do so when there is a different and better option. I even mentioned to the woman taking my order that I was trying to reduce my waste (to explain why I was asking for my coffee in a ceramic cup). Initially excited to pick up my (americano) coffee when my name was called, I instead saw on the counter my coffee in not just one disposable cup, but in 2 cups! The 'label' clearly said 'here'. I felt so duped. Guess I shouldn't have trusted I'd get my order in a real cup since when I looked around, all the other customers sitting there had disposable cups too. WHY? No idea (poor training, poor communication, ran out of ceramic cups, hopefully not "green washing"?!) but I'm so mad about this and sharing in the spirit of hoping that this was just a one-time glitch and others don't experience the same frustration.

Ceramic is clearly an option. Was this just staged? Or can a customer actually choose to not create waste.

When I went there, however, I was a little disappointed that it was not as extravagant as I was hoping. Their choices in baked goods were very scarce. When I arrived there I found out that they do not serve their breakfast/lunch menu, but instead the daily special advertisement from their indoor sign. I ordered the Mozzarella & Caramelized Onions Focaccia bread and their cappuccino. The focaccia was great with the caramelized onions adding succulence and flavour that stood out. The cappuccino was good, nothing special though. I also had their Almond Butter cake, which was good as well if not a little solid to eat. There was not much to talk about the interior ambiance of the café and there was not much space inside, unless you go to the back of the café. The staff was very courteous in serving me and has a good deal of knowledge about their business. My experience at the Duft & Co Bakehouse was pretty good, and I would like to give them another try. However, it will be a while because of their obscured business hours would be hard for me to come around.

I've been dying to try this bakery for awhile and each time I have failed and it's no one's fault but mine since they were either sold out or I came on a day they were closed. So this day I planned ahead. I got there ten minutes before opening which always makes me feel awkward but a line was already formed outside. Once they opened you go in and are greeted with a wide array of pastries and baked goods. I picked quite a few but will say that I'm biased as I went to pastry school and well this was the best croissant I've ever had. It was flaky on the outside and nice and buttery on the inside. You can tell that they worked hard on these and laminated them perfectly. The coffee was good too but the pastries stole the show and I will be back.
