Good enough coffee and nice setting but angry about my "cup" experience, which I've now shared in frustration with others. When I placed my order I asked for coffee to please be served in a reusable "ceramic" cup as a "here" order. I had seen a dish bin with empty cups and was initially thrilled that this would be an option! I'm so over adding single use cups to the waste stream. It really hurts to do so when there is a different and better option. I even mentioned to the woman taking my order that I was trying to reduce my waste (to explain why I was asking for my coffee in a ceramic cup). Initially excited to pick up my (americano) coffee when my name was called, I instead saw on the counter my coffee in not just one disposable cup, but in 2 cups! The 'label' clearly said 'here'. I felt so duped. Guess I shouldn't have trusted I'd get my order in a real cup since when I looked around, all the other customers sitting there had disposable cups too. WHY? No idea (poor training, poor communication, ran out of ceramic cups, hopefully not "green washing"?!) but I'm so mad about this and sharing in the spirit of hoping that this was just a one-time glitch and others don't experience the same frustration. read more

Cute cozy coffee shop with a community environment. We stopped here on our way to the Mount Baker Scenic Byway. Conveniently there is a gas station in the same plaza too. Best coffee franchise in North America! Bold statement you say? You gotta try it to believe it. I live in San Diego and every time I come home to Lynden/Bellingham this is the first place to go. The customer service is always friendly and helpful; while the environment is warm and comfortable. Every product I've tried there is incredible, even the pastries, with the prices being roughly the same as Starbucks (minus the horrendous coffee). I usually get a sugarfree iced mocha with whip, which defeats the sugarfree part I like it! My brother in-law actually proposed to my sister at the Woods Coffee on the harbor in Bellingham which is also an extremely nice location. I'm not a big coffee guy by any means, but I know quality coffee (Wood's in this case) from garbage (starbucks in every case). Every time I drink any type of coffee from these starbucks people, it goes down like hot antifreeze. I never knew coffee could make your heart hurt lol! I'm not only referring to starbucks here in Washington state. I've had it all over the country and some spots overseas. It all goes down the same with the exception of their Caribbean shops. This is been my regular writing spot and where I've written four of my published books. Plenty of great spots to sit, including comfortable leather chairs near the fireplace. All of thebarista's are very friendly and the drinks are some of the tastiest in the area. I generally don't eat the treats, but when I have, they are homemade and delicious. We received a gift card and went. Maybe it is me, but I really did not like the taste of their coffee. Also, it was pricey. I looked at the assortment of food they offered and again thought it was overpriced for what I have seen at other places in the area. It seems to be a popular place as all the Woods Coffee's seem to be busy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. In speaking with some other people, it appears some really love Woods and their coffee and others, like me, have not developed a taste for it. All the Woods we have been to (3) are all nicely set up and inviting. Sorry I just do not care for their coffee. I have also tried their Frappe's twice and they seemed light on the flavor but were okay. Would not be my first choice to go to have one. I only tried it a second time because I thought they must have left something out the first time. Anyway, nice and inviting stores with friendly and helpful staff. Looking at other reviews I am definitely in the minority when it comes to their coffee. I am a big coffee drinker and really do enjoy a nice flavorful coffee, unfortunately Woods coffee is not one I would seek out. read more

I love this place. The coffee is really good and their selection of delicious treats are made in their own kitchen right here in Lynden, WA. This is the original The Woods Coffee location and it's my go to when visiting family in Lynden. They offer comfy seating with a fireplace for those colder days and the wifi is fast and free. I always start my morning here with a Giant Redwood nonfat Latte (24oz) and one of their Savory Twists. I appreciate how friendly the staff is and I'm sure you will, too. read more

Ok, woods coffee is a place where you can get an excellent espresso and a great breakfast sandwich. I love Wood's because they are all over the place here in Whatcom County and you can count on them to be consistent. Each location is really nice, lodge-like, big timber and a forest theme running through, for example the coffee sizes are: spruce, cedar, redwood ... or something like that to indicate the size of the coffee drink. My usual is a Spruce Americano with one shot and room for cream... I have not tried other mixed espresso drinks as I do not like sweet coffee. I have tried their regular drip coffee and it tastes way too strong for me and really bitter, not smooth at all. Since I started drinking the Americanos, I now love Wood's again! The gluten free egg and sausage breakfast sandwich is really good, made daily and heated up to order... it's my favorite... love the texture and taste of the biscuit used... I don't normally eat GF, but they were out of the regular muffin for the sandwich one day and I had to order this one and I actually like it a lot better, so have always ordered it since. I like the fact that they bake/make all their food items fresh every day here in Bellingham. not like a lot of other places that buy it from other bakeries or from Costco. Favorite woods location? the Boulevard Park because it's right on the bay and it's halfway between Fairhaven and Bellingham on a multiuse path.... pretty cool to walk or bike there. I have seen a lot of reviews for The Woods Coffee that attempt to compare it to Starbucks, and I will not attempt to do that because I think Woods is in an entirely different league than Starbucks. There are three things, in my opinion, that make The Woods stand above the competition. They are atmosphere, specialty drinks, and friendly customer service. I can't comment on the drip coffee because I have not tried it yet. The atmosphere varies slightly from one location to the next, but they all stay within the theme of earth-tone/modern/cabin. What I really like about The Woods its that they fit somewhere between national coffee chain and local coffee stand. This is good because they have several locations, but they don't feel like a corporate chain. I always like trying their holiday and special drinks and haven't been disappointed yet. When it comes to customer service, I've always found the baristas to be friendly and professional. My wife told them she was getting tired of the pumpkin white mocha and they offered a suggestion of something similar (brown sugar and cinnamon pumpkin latte) which was great! read more
