I was really looking forward to going to the Duft & Co for a while and saw all the delicious baked goods they made from their Google reviews. When I went there, however, I was a little disappointed that it was not as extravagant as I was hoping. Their choices in baked goods were very scarce. When I arrived there I found out that they do not serve their breakfast/lunch menu, but instead the daily special advertisement from their indoor sign. I ordered the Mozzarella & Caramelized Onions Focaccia bread and their cappuccino. The focaccia was great with the caramelized onions adding succulence and flavour that stood out. The cappuccino was good, nothing special though. I also had their Almond Butter cake, which was good as well if not a little solid to eat. There was not much to talk about the interior ambiance of the café and there was not much space inside, unless you go to the back of the café. The staff was very courteous in serving me and has a good deal of knowledge about their business. My experience at the Duft & Co Bakehouse was pretty good, and I would like to give them another try. However, it will be a while because of their obscured business hours would be hard for me to come around. read more

I woke up pretty early on a Wednesday morning got my license ready and headed for Canada. My one and only stop was Duft and Co. I've been dying to try this bakery for awhile and each time I have failed and it's no one's fault but mine since they were either sold out or I came on a day they were closed. So this day I planned ahead. I got there ten minutes before opening which always makes me feel awkward but a line was already formed outside. Once they opened you go in and are greeted with a wide array of pastries and baked goods. I picked quite a few but will say that I'm biased as I went to pastry school and well this was the best croissant I've ever had. It was flaky on the outside and nice and buttery on the inside. You can tell that they worked hard on these and laminated them perfectly. The coffee was good too but the pastries stole the show and I will be back. read more

Got the raspberry Earl Grey muffin. It was pretty good, I hate when muffins are dry and this was not Also got the salted caramel brownie. It too was tasty and it wasn't a dry dense either to which you had to have a warm beverage along with it. Also couldn't pass up the sour cherry danish. That's was pretty good too! I discovered Duft & Co Bakehouse (I wanna say) at least 5 years ago and I haven't looked back since. Their pastries are absolutely amazing! With being from Abbotsford, I was long gone before they opened.. but with family and friends still residing there, I don't hesitate to stop by whenever I'm in town. I have a major weakness for pastries and I can't help but overindulge when I visit. I always say to myself to only get one thing, but everything looks too good that I can't decide and end up getting a box of full goodies. Their box doesn't lie when it says "Opening this box will change your life!" Based on my pictures, you can see I've tried a variety of danishes, cakes, donuts, and many other types of pastries. I must say, their danishes are amazing. I've tried Sour Cherry, Blackberry, and Strawberry.. and they're all super delicious. I'm a major London Fog lover, so their London Fog croissant and London Fog donut was heaven for me! I can really go on and on about everything else I've tried but that would be an essay. Can't stress enough how delicious everything is. Currently they're only doing online orders, and boy do they sell out fast! Decided to take the drive today to Duft and Co. Bakehouse in Abbotsford. I had seen quite a few positive reviews about this place so I wanted to give it a try. I know that they typically close early if they sell out so I decided to get there upon opening. They had plenty of baked goods, including a few gluten free options. I ordered the cinnamon bun and the sticky bun, which is what I initially went there for. Once I approached the cashier I noticed they had a gluten free lemon poppyseed cake, which is perfect for my friend as he can't eat gluten, so I ordered one of those too. I also decided to get an americano as it was a long drive out there from Coquitlam and I was in definite need of caffeine. Unfortunately when I got home, I opened the box to find a hair in the bottom of the box. I decided to eat around it because it was a really long trek out there and I don't like to waste food. I found the sticky bun and cinnamon bun to be fairly good! They were a little too sweet for me; I wish they had a bit more bread inside (instead of thin rolls) to balance out the sweetness. The lemon poppyseed cake was outstanding. It came with a glaze and the cake was perfect! The americano was much better than something you get at Starbucks. It wasn't as bitter as some americanos I've had, and it was perfect for my drive home. I will definitely be back to try out more of their baked goods in the new year, in particular their house made donuts! read more

If you're ever in the Fraser Valley area, you got to check out Duft & Co Bakehouse! It's a cute little bakery in Abbotsford, with a good selection of pretty looking and delicious baked goods. I love how they make everything fresh, in house, in the mornings! Duft & Co Bakehouse has really good quality taste for a very reasonable price. Of course me being me, I got a whole box full of goodies to try. After walking back and fourth trying to decide what to get, I decided on the cherry danish, honey danish, ham & cheese croissants and the lemon sugar bun. I swear, EVERYTHING tasted so good! The only downside for me is that the the fillings of the cherry danish and lemon sugar bun were way too sweet. I heard that they have a sister store across the street where they sell pizza?! Oh my...these guys have a serious reputation for their incredible bakery! Their hours are flexible because they only make so much and then when they sell out they close shop for the day! Wow, what an amazing place to drop by for a coffee and baked goods! The almond croissant was crispy and flaky on the outside with a good dollop of almond paste inside; very filling. The lemon sugar bun was a well balanced donut; so fresh and soft your mouth sinks into (if you can get your mouth around it :D). This place doesn't mess around with coffee, no drip coffee to be found here; they go straight to the Americano. Lovely place to sit and chat if you can find a spot. Order and pay at counter. Looked up "best coffee shop" and this place remains on the list though they no longer are a cafe where you can sit for a nice coffee (only take out). Also beware if you are coming out of town and it's an "online order day" that you may have travelled for nothing as they don't set anything aside for people who "aren't on social media" and do not warn on their facebook or google in addition to the owner being very rude and ignorant about it. read more

I had a blueberry lemon muffin and so delicious! I love strong lemon flavor and crunchy muffin top/edge. I guess they use special sugar or bigger crystallized sugar? The texture was amazing. Moist and heavy dough is plus too. They do good job! read more

the best bakery shop in abbotsford! offering sweet and savory pastries. there are new items weekly and the basic staples available. they make their own baguettes and the texture is soft, chewy and delicious. they offer coffee and lattes and you can order that in a separate line if you don't want to wait in the main line (which can extend out the door on weekends). limited seating on busy weekends, fyi. i can taste the butter in the croissant now..mmm we haven't tried their lunch and will need to check it out next time. this, along with their new restaurant opening up across the street. read more

I've been dying to visit Duft & Co. Bakehouse, so when I was in the area- it was a no-brainer! After my visit... What took me sooo long?!? Pulling up front and center to the Bakehouse, on Montrose Ave., was an exciting moment for me! It was totally our day! Upon entry, the ambiance was exactly as it should be. Good vibes all around. As me and my little breakfast date approached the counter, we were cheerfully greeted by 2 overly young ladies. My baked goods selection made me nervous... What to pick?!? We ended up ordering a Ham & cheese croissant that was to die for ( I seriously could've eaten 3!) & a little hot chocolate. We intended on brining a huge box home, so I didn't do too much splurging to start the day :) Side note: The girl at the counter even asked me if I wanted my gluten free items separate from the others! Words can't describe how wonderful this place is. It has great atmosphere and the baked goods are to die for. The hot drinks are good as well. Yes this place is expensive but well worth it. There are line ups if you arrive when the shop opens. It is only open until early afternoon and once your favourite item is sold out for the day, you have to wait until the next day. I think this shop beats other similar shops, but it is hard to describe what this place is. It is not quite a bakery and it is not quite a coffee shop. That being said, it baked goods and hot drinks are superior to any other bakery and coffee shop in the Fraser Valley. read more

For some reason I thought this place was a 100% gluten-free bakery. My friends knew I was gluten-free and purchased some pastries here for me. Unfortunately I just found out that wasn't the case. I came here for the first time in person yesterday, hoping for some gluten-free goodies as good as the ones I remembered that my friends had purchased for me... turns out only a few select items are gluten-free, and not the ones that they had purchased. Not the ones I purchased yesterday either. Not the store's fault, I should have noticed the red flags such as no "gluten-free" signs by the items (though I assumed that was because the entire bakery was gluten-free). I gave my gluten intolerant daughter a donut and she was like "There is no way this is gluten-free, it's too delicious!". She was right. She vomited 3 times afterwards. So if you are celiac or gluten intolerant make SURE you are only choosing items that are verified to be gluten-free, and don't take just your friends word for it! Shame on me... I should have known better. Not the stores fault. I did sample both the donut and the apple danish, and the almond croissant, and they were all Europe-level five star pastries. Absolutely delicious. So if you don't have a problem with gluten, this is definitely the place to indulge!! Fingers crossed we get an actual 100% gluten-free bakery around here some day... Ridiculous. SO fresh, and such a quaint little bakery. The bakery was filled with people with a line way out the door (which is always a good sign haha!) I had the cinnamon bun. This was the best cinnamon bun I have ever had. HUGE serving, with a gooey centre and top, chopped up pecans, and a chewy dough to balance it all. This is an absolute MUST do if you're in the area. Visited my parents in Abbotsford and had been wanting to try this place for awhile! Top notch baked goods if you're around the area! Don't try to go late because they close earlier if they run out of food. I got some of the lemon flavour pastries and it was amazing! What was really amazing was the almond croissant! My girlfriend brought me to Duft for some croissants. She was bragging about how good the bakery was. At first I'm like it's a bakery, it will be the same as any other bakery. I was poorly mistaken. Way way way overrated. I have had better. The system that they employee is silly. "We close when we run out." I have been there three times and all three times they have never ever had a full menu. The last time I was there (last Saturday) will be my last. Period. We went in around 1pm. The only thing left on the menu was soup. The place wasn't busy. However it took almost 15 mins to bring the soup out... and even then it was a little chaotic. There were maybe 8 people in total in the place. Don't get me wrong, the baked good are good - just not worth the hype. So, to all those that love to wait in lines for okay food - have at it. There are similar places that offer the same fare in Abbotsford without the lines. Why wait for food, I say. I've eaten Swiss chocolate at the base of the Alps, fish and chips is London, and drank a Guinness at the brewery in Ireland. Steak in Texas, po boys in Louisiana, cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, and poutine in Quebec. All of this did not prepare me for what my pallet discovered in Duft & Co. My edible travels felt wasted as I was reborn into the warm embrace of a croissant. I was elated by their bittersweet brownie and as I tasted their plethora of baked goodness' my tears rolled. Went in on a cool spring Saturday morning. There was a crowd waiting for the place to open, and when we made it in, we were at the back of a line that stretched almost to the door. But a cheerful staff got that line sorted in short order. I had bread pudding, my lovely wife a danish, and we both had latte. The coffee orders were backed up so we had to wait a bit for those, which was fine. The bread pudding was perfect - little bits of flavour here and there, a bit of cinamon, a little brown sugar, some chocolate, a little vanilla... I was lucky enough to get a bit of my wife's danish and it was wonderful - flaky pastry with rich butter flavour and fresh fruit. The coffees were good too. We'll be back. read more

A friend of mine used to work there. She worked hard and was promised sun, moon and stars. She was also doing the work of someone who had previously left for many months, but they wouldn't even give her a lousy pay raise of less than a dollar per hour! Image being asked to cover someone's work until a replacement is found, they don't bother get a replacement and they pay you nothing extra for all that extra work, and then won't even give you a measly raise when it's due? I refuse to support a business who treat their staff with such comtempt. I've never been in there since my friend told me how they were treated....I also warn my other friends off this place too. read more

Cute little shop. The amount of people here speaks volumes for how much the locals love this place. I had the danish and it was so delicious! My only downside was that they didn't even fill my coffee mug all the way up, apart from that it was a cute place but nowhere that you would actually come to get much done (eg study). read more

Heard about Duft and Co's amazing reputation and had to check it out. Went in for a morning treat and was amazed at the scrumptious looking selection. Tried the lemon Danish (lemon bakery items being a particular weakness)...yum...light, flaky, crispy pastry with a good glob of nicely tart lemon curd on top. Instant favorite. The lemon sugar buns are on my "next time" list. My friend had the almond croissant...looked delish. We were told that we could pre-order bread and return for it later, as bread wasn't baked until all the morning pastries and such were done with. This presented an excellent opportunity to try the lunch menu... 'Creamy tomato soup' was very fresh and flavorful and had a good kick...it was delicious, but perhaps could have been advertised on the menu as spicy (might be a problem if ordered for a child). The accompanying sandwich was very good and very filling...grilled summer squash bread with caramelized onions, bacon, a blended cream cheese. The salads looked amazing as well, piled high with beautiful fresh, colorful veg...will have to try one next time. We picked up our bread, Oat sunflower sandwich bread and Rye bread, at the counter...still slightly warm, nicely sliced and carefully bagged (so good toasted the next day). Couldn't resist a taking home a few more baked goods for the family to share. Tried the gluten free blueberry mini cake, white chocolate cranberry scone, cookies...all very good. Overall, very impressed. During my time there I noticed a steady stream of customers, and very few empty tables. Baskets and baskets of baked goods were sold as we watched. Everything made here is clearly made with high quality ingredients, by people who really seem to love what they do. Prices are fair. Duft and co has the best baked goods in Abbotsford I would say! Everything in their display looks amazing. However, their hours are a little wonky since they just close down once they've sold out. So it isn't really ever possible to make it there after work which is unfortunate. When they are open, the times I have been there they have been extremely busy for lunch hour. It is kind of awkward hovering over other tables waiting for people to leave so you can snag a spot. I have also found the staff mostly friendly aside from an unhelpful server I had to order from.
