This is the tastiest americano I've ever had. It's a rarity that I'm given coffee that actually tastes like coffee.

Ok, let's get real. I live on the east side of lynden and drive passed this business daily. I have never given it a second though, because I like my coffee strong and full of flavor (even Starbucks to me is kind of weak and gross, but it's at least consistant) so, to be be honest, I've stopped trying to drink Lynden coffee, as the Dutch are pretty famous for liking weak as hell coffee. Out of pure laziness I decided to try Muddy Waters. I am ashamed of my preconceived notions! This coffee is DELICIOUS. I took a sip, in my car and shouted "damn that's good!" To myself and guzzled some more, still muttering words of surprise and happiness. This is my new favorite coffee stand! An added bonus is that their coffee is crazy affordable. My 16oz americano (with flavor added) came to $3.70 after tax. I'm actually mad at myself for not trying it sooner.

When I placed my order I asked for coffee to please be served in a reusable "ceramic" cup as a "here" order. I had seen a dish bin with empty cups and was initially thrilled that this would be an option! I'm so over adding single use cups to the waste stream. It really hurts to do so when there is a different and better option. I even mentioned to the woman taking my order that I was trying to reduce my waste (to explain why I was asking for my coffee in a ceramic cup). Initially excited to pick up my (americano) coffee when my name was called, I instead saw on the counter my coffee in not just one disposable cup, but in 2 cups! The 'label' clearly said 'here'. I felt so duped. Guess I shouldn't have trusted I'd get my order in a real cup since when I looked around, all the other customers sitting there had disposable cups too. WHY? No idea (poor training, poor communication, ran out of ceramic cups, hopefully not "green washing"?!) but I'm so mad about this and sharing in the spirit of hoping that this was just a one-time glitch and others don't experience the same frustration.

Woods Coffee - Ceramic is clearly an option. Was this just staged? Or can a customer actually choose to not create waste.

When I went there, however, I was a little disappointed that it was not as extravagant as I was hoping. Their choices in baked goods were very scarce. When I arrived there I found out that they do not serve their breakfast/lunch menu, but instead the daily special advertisement from their indoor sign. I ordered the Mozzarella & Caramelized Onions Focaccia bread and their cappuccino. The focaccia was great with the caramelized onions adding succulence and flavour that stood out. The cappuccino was good, nothing special though. I also had their Almond Butter cake, which was good as well if not a little solid to eat. There was not much to talk about the interior ambiance of the café and there was not much space inside, unless you go to the back of the café. The staff was very courteous in serving me and has a good deal of knowledge about their business. My experience at the Duft & Co Bakehouse was pretty good, and I would like to give them another try. However, it will be a while because of their obscured business hours would be hard for me to come around.

I've been dying to try this bakery for awhile and each time I have failed and it's no one's fault but mine since they were either sold out or I came on a day they were closed. So this day I planned ahead. I got there ten minutes before opening which always makes me feel awkward but a line was already formed outside. Once they opened you go in and are greeted with a wide array of pastries and baked goods. I picked quite a few but will say that I'm biased as I went to pastry school and well this was the best croissant I've ever had. It was flaky on the outside and nice and buttery on the inside. You can tell that they worked hard on these and laminated them perfectly. The coffee was good too but the pastries stole the show and I will be back.
