I also needed my roots touched up so I agreed to call and set up and appt. I had to reschedule my first appointment because my day off got switched at work... She was able to fit me in on a Saturday after I got off work, which would put her past the time she normally worked and I was very greatful! When I got there, I showed her the picture of what I wanted. The same picture I used to get the the color I was currently at, which was not far off. It just had a little more brassy tone than I wanted. After showing her the picture she asked if wanted to cut any of it. I said yes a little. We agreed to right at my breast (my hair was almost at my butt) She cut it across real quick and I was happy with the length. She gave her assistant mixing instructions and then started coloring my hair. As she was coloring it, she said what I'm doing is just starting over. I said ok... as I believed she was just re-foiling the hair (in the same colors , the color in the picture). As she put all these foils in I could estimate this was going to be a full foil price. Not what I agreed to but if she was going to make it look great, I was ok with it. Long story short... She ended up going a whole different route with the color. It pulled super ashy to the point it looks grey/silver/green in most lighting. I don't know why in the salon lighting you couldn't see it but as soon as I walked out side, I could see it and it got worse as the day went on. On top of that when she went in to finish up the cut, you know just clean it up, since she already cut the length to where I wanted it.. She ended up cutting several more inches off and adding tons of layers. Basically a sag cut. Which would have been great if that was what I wanted! She chopped my hair off and didn't even ask! My hair went from all the way down my back, to touching my shoulders. Ladies we all know, when you have your hair long and you don't have any intentions of going short how you feel when someone takes it upon themselves to cut all your hair off! You think that's the end of this story? Then wait for the bill! $485.00 BEFORE TIP! WHY???? YOU ASK? WELL apparently I needed two things of gloss at $55 each on top of the $290 for cut and foil... I also needed another color I didn't know I needed for $95 and then I needed extra product for $20. I went from just remove the brassy and do my roots... To ending up going home with all my hair cut off, an ash gone wild hair color I didn't know I wanted. AND ALL THAT GLOSS I PAID FOR!?!! IDK HIDING BEHIND THE ASH? Is going to get fixed you ask??? Sorry she isn't available any of the days I'm off for the next several weeks and she closes at 5 pm every day so that's not happening. If I came in to her salon and said , I have no clue what I want, I want you to just do whatever YOU want oh and money is no object!..Well then I got what I asked for. But this was not the case.

Given the 5 stars I was immediately interested. Finding the salon was a little difficult as it is located behind the Cvs & Chipotle in Gaithersburg Square. I've been to the Symmetry Salon in Bethesda once before so I knew stylists had their own private space. I honestly prefer it over a loud, hectic salon. Your stylist can truly give you their undivided attention. This location also sells Balmain products. Super chic. You can help yourself to coffee, water and snacks while you wait. There is an ATM located inside as well just in case you forget cash to tip! All payments are made through your stylist not the front desk. I believe the receptionist is there to mostly direct clients and to book appointments. Kirstie was fantastic! I truly mean that. The woman who saw me (younger of the two) asked what I wanted, I responded and she started to work on my brows. From the second she put the thread on my skin it was painful and I felt like my eyebrows were being ripped off and bleeding. Later I saw that I did have a scar and bruise above my eyes. It felt like she was bitter and purposely putting all her anger into ripping my eyebrow hair out. That's how bad the pain was. Disclaimer here, I am from a similar area of the world where I also get my eyebrows threaded and NO, I am not some sissy person who is new to threading. My mother was a professional threader and I've had my eyebrows touched by BOTH novices and experts and I NEVER had any pain like this. I am very thick skinned and my pain tolerance is high but this threading stop in the salon run by these two Indian women....go somewhere else. I don't want to shit on the other salons in here and I will probably go here to try another salon but the threading...NO. Just full stop. She was rude too. I don't usually give a damn about that if you service me well. But the pain was too much to come back. And the result was mediocre. Not worth it for me to drive an hour for it.

My hair is also curly. Bleach & curls don't normally mix. Every time I've gotten it professionally done, my blonde breaks off, my hair is dry & the hairdressers are quick to whip out a paddle brush after washing without conditioner/cream which leads to my wet hair breaking and stretching. When I showed pictures to each hairdresser (chocolate brown with light ends), I always end up with bleach blonde highlights against my black hair. It was always the worst. I told myself I wasn't going to pay $400 anymore to come out looking worst. I took the chance with Janelle. She sat with me and talked about what I liked about each picture I sent, she recommended specific products she used (her line of products have left my hair so soft), & when I told her that my blonde usually breaks off and that it's dry... she gave me a specific plan to get my hair where it needed to be & she told me she would used Olaplex on each step to maintain the integrity. Most of all... Janelle used a wide tooth COMB to de-tangle my hair and used a leave-in conditioner WITHOUT me saying ANYTHING!!! She was so gentle with my curls. It really let me know she cares and is conscious of curly hair & the patience it takes. Lastly, after I left... my hair was immediately healthier and more manageable. I didn't think that was possible. Janelle mentioned she will gradually go lighter to ensure no breakage & that if I wanted, I could go months without coming back based on how she colored it. She was an exceptional colorist, a friend, and felt like family. There was a lovely memorial at the salon. I have included a picture of her station where loving photos adorn the wall. The owner of the salon, Ofeer, is a phenomenal stylist and has a heart of gold. At Yelp we support local businesses and this is just the kind of business we want to support. Yvonne answers the phone and greets you with a warm smile. She is wonderful as she schedules appointments and makes sure clients are happy and satisfied. Mila is a sweetheart. She gives great shampoos. As she massages your scalp you feel so relaxed and pampered. I don't want to leave her chair. Before Barbara passed away, she recommended that I try Angie for my styling needs. I have been going to Angie for the past 3 months. She is sweet, caring, and does a great job. I am happy that I have continued to go to Zohra. The staff is top notch and each works hard to please their clients. It was really hard coming back and not seeing Barbara.
