Used to be one of my go to burger spots - no longer. First a memorial for another fallen restaurant chain. It used to have tasty burgers, bountiful sides and be a great place to meetup. My most recent visit started with being ignored at the bar for 20 mins. Ok its Santa Barbara I expect this by now. The food came out and the fries were different and overly salted. They definitely tasted pre frozen and re-heated which was no the case in 2015. From there the burger was completely dry and tasteless. I can only assume for every $ injected by a PE firm I am suffered to enjoy the quality less. We weren't a fan of the mustard dressing so we asked for the ginger soy dressing on the side & that was the move. Soooo good! Next time I'd personally pass on the French dip (that's why I deducted one star) & maybe try a burger. I ordered the cherry watermelon mint vodka drink... I want to say it was the cherry watermelon smash?? Idk, but that was the best drink I've had in awhile! I came in and asked our server what he recommends...smash burger or hot chicken sandwich. He said tbh that they had recently made the switch from breast to thigh so he thought it wasn't as good as he used to be. LITTLE DID HE KNOW - the transition from breast to thigh is like going from Charmander to Charizard. For those unfamiliar with Pokémon that means it's important. It's impactful. It's...powerful. SO! I opted for the hot chicken sandwich as clearly this place has moved into the inner circle of enlightened restaurateurs. Bun: lightly buttered and toasted. A little (and I mean barely) dry. Slaw: crisp and colorful - no complaints here Aioli: Smokey, not overpowering. WOULD recommend they offer an extra side of it or ranch to have handy. Chicken: LOVE THE THIGH and the size of it. My complaint (and my biggest knock) was that it was actually pretty salty. Noticeably so. Well breaded BUT...it actually could use some more heat. Don't be shy, let those spices fly. It was Wifey's B Day So we decided to stop by Eureka! To try this Beet Burger she's been raving about. I'm glad to say, she was RIGHT it was delectable . The ambiance was Uber clean, chic w optional outdoor seating. I also grabbed chicken nachos (heavy on the avocado ) & a chocolate stout w an alcohol content of 9.5%, Oh my! . At meals end the waitress brought out a complimentary dessert of Bourbon Cake w Vanilla Ice Cream. It was also incredible! This place can't miss. The staff was also World Class, Grade A. As regulars, you understand that mistakes happen and a lot of factors play a role in the overall experience. This time, in one week we had the same mistake happen back to back so it's worth noting. Our son loves the Mac and cheese balls along with signature fires. This week I ordered the items midweek for a special school lunch and Saturday night he asked for them again. Wednesday, I placed the other online, I specifically said, "hold the ranch" this is because sometimes the containers are not closed all the way and spills happen. When I got to the school the Mac and cheese balls were covered in ranch. He doesn't eat ranch, he missed out on lunch. On Saturday night he asked for his usual order and my husband went into the restaurant and placed the order at 7:45pm, it was 8:36 and he was finally leaving the store with the order. Not only did he wait so long for starters, the first time they gave him the bag, he checked and the ranch had already spilled---while being in the restaurant meaning the containers were once agin not closed completely. This was even after requesting no ranch be part of the order. So it is frustrating, an inconvenience and a loss of money all in all. I just don't know how else we can ask for no ranch to ensure the spills do no happen especially before the oder leaves the restaurant. read more

EUREKA! is a cool looking bar/bistro that a friend and i visited yesterday looking for a quiet place to have drinks and appetizers. This joint is inside the Paseo close to Carrillo and across from Cali Pizza Kitchen. To be honest we drank wine and only had one appetizer: Nachos, of course. The Nachos were spare looking with all of the condiments at a minimum and looking as if the cook used a ruler to measure each and every one so that they were all were about the same size. I would like to meet this guy as his knife skills are of a very high quality. Though i usually don't like meat on my 'chos: the chicken here was very tasty and fresh and cut with a ruler. We came in about 4 o'clock which is generally no man's land in most restaurants and so it was here. But we didn't mind because we were much involved in our convo. Nachos were good not great: the accoutrements need to be doubled particularly because the chips were super crisp and tasty. The Hitching Post Red is delicious: deep red, plummy, nutty and finishes with a slight lemon flavor. Really good stuff. We will definitely be back on a Tuesday. Why Tuesday? Wines (and they have a great wine list, btw) All Wines are 1/2 off !!! The Bartender was laid back. but nice and willing to help. He was obviously new but had no problem asking others for help. Great place for date night. I think that our server, David?, was amazing. Even though we were sat by the kitchen, he made up for it with the excellent and fast service. We started with the cauliflower bites and they were okay, I liked the breaded coating but wish there was more flavor. I had the french dip and got a side of mac and cheese balls which were amazing and spicy. We put one in the burger and made it the perfect bite. We also got the truffle fries which came with a yummy cheese sauce, the cheese sauce would've been good with the cauliflower maybe? To end it all, we got the barrel cake and was SO GOOD. Cowboy Burger (A) - The cowboy burger was excellent! The patty was succulent, cooked well, and juicy, which paired well with the fried onion and bacon. Only complaint for the burger is that I would've liked to see more sauce to help enhance the flavor; I don't think any cowboys would go light on the sauce. Coleslaw (B) - Speaking of lightly dressed, that is the perfect description for their coleslaw. I think being more generous with that vibrant lemon and mayo marinade will help make it more cohesive, as there are already very interesting elements with herbs and nuts. This will help it go beyond just shredded red cabbage. Sweet Potato Fries (C) - These sweet potato fries are a soft and sweet take on the classic dish. The fries are soft in the middle and topped with honey and cinnamon, kind of resembling candied yams. I think this is an interesting premise, but I am not quite convinced it works well because cinnamon makes you even more thirsty when consuming these. The firecracker sauce kind of pairs with it, except that is spicy and also makes you wanting water. I think a chipotle aioli type sauce might work better next time. Charcoal Lemonade (B) - Look at this, its lemonade in black! Fortunately, this lemonade has no taste of charcoal, smoke, or ash and tastes just like regular lemonade. The lemonade gives an old rustic taste, updated with the health benefits of activated charcoal. I think the taste of the dish could be elevated though, through the use a of smartly incorporated syrup. Service (A) - The servers were really nice and attentive and were willing to accommodate as needed. Atmosphere (A) - I really like the vibe of the restaurant, the fireplace area is especially nice to watch and hang out in. read more

Superb customer service by 2 waitresses! We ordered the truffle fries, nachos and 2 burgers, yum! Truffle fries are Always worth it especially when they give a decent side dish of melted cheese. The nachos had a very tasty smokey Chipotle sauce with plenty of chopped chicken and chopped avocado, could've used more black beans. I counted 9 beans. Ha! Our burgers were cooked to perfection. My hubby and I were downtown shopping and he suggested "linner", and since we've not been to Eureka in awhile we decided it'd be a perfect place to grab a quick bite. One of things my husband likes to do is sit at the bar. He likes to engage the bartender and pick their brains about different ways to concoct drinks. He feels you get a better sense of how the establishment is run this way. I wish I can remember our bartender/server's name, he was everything my husband loves about a mixologist. He knew different ways to prepare drinks and shared with my husband his preferences and dislikes. The drinks he prepared were pretty tasty. When my husband compliments a drink, you know it was well prepared. We started out with the poke appetizer, which was very well made. Their execution on the ratio to sesame oil and soyu was perfect. My husband is meat and potatoes guy, so he got burger and fries. Those who know my husband well knows he demolishes his fries first, which he said was perfectly crunchy and seasoned, then goes for his protein. I had the Ahi salad. I liked that the lettuce was not drenched in salad dressing and there was a good portion of perfectly cooked ahi. It was very tasty. As we were leaving the restaurant, my husband turns to me and said " I can't believe we don't come here more often. Their food and drinks is always solid." Moving on to the overpriced Denny's style food, do take advantage of happy hour, where an 10 oz. beer drops to just $8.50! what a deal. For amusement, you can watch the staff drifting around doing nothing, while the empty restraunt waits for "important people" and your water glass never gets re-filled. I have gone back, three times, at the insistance of my friends, and its about the same, every time. Good job Eureka! Keep saving those seats for nobody. Never disappoints for their happy hour! We love to order one (or two!) of each appetizer. The new to us cauliflower and string bean dishes are so Yum -Adding to their already delicious Brussels sprouts. The cauliflower bites have Bonita on them a fun surprise to others in our group who had never experienced their ' dance' on your dish!! Truffle fries are the the bomb ! even if their not on the happy hour menu make sure to get more truffle sauce if you run out. Their sweet potato fries are perfect balance with crispy sweet and savory. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Great happy hour! I walked in was seated immediately and was greeted by the waiter who brought me the menu. I just wanted a burger and I was pretty hungry so finding out a burger and fries was on the happy hour menu amongst several other interesting and yummy items was a score! I would have to say hands down the burger was absolutely scrumptious and delicious!! It came quickly and absolutely to my liking. The fries were excellent as well with the saltiness that I craved. I will most definitely be back for their other specialties including their wine specials and beer at the bar. I would totally belly up to the bar looked really casual, comfy and TVs to watch. Eureka is located by the Paseo Nuevo mall and is by state street. They also have a few other locations in California. I love the interior of the restaurant. It is a great place to come here for dinner and drinks with friends. My friends and I enjoyed the drinks! They have nice indoor seating and a nice outdoor patio if you are planning to dine in. I came here with my friends last weekend and the waiter and staff was super friendly. I ordered one of their burgers with the sunny side egg with fries. Their regular fries, sweet potato fries, and truffle fries are just average I wish they were crispy they were just okay. The burger was juicy and tender I like that the burger game with an egg. Too expensive for what you get as well Update: I'm giving this location an extra two stars because of the customer service alone. When I posted my 1 star review the general manager reached out to me to apologize for the experience that I received. He offered to send me a gift card so I could try this place again. I live in a different city so he was more than happy to look up locations close to me and still send said gift card. Last week, my girlfriend and I tried the location where we live and it just wasn't for us. The customer service is absolutely AMAZING and I appreciate the effort that was put forth by not only the general manger of the Santa Barbara location but the staff at the location near our home.
