    The Paperboy Breakfast Sandwich
    Julie Ann N.

One of my fave spots in Santa Barbara. The interior and outdoor patio are both so cute ! Server: Cailin I was SO excited to have the bone marrow and hanger steak, but forgot only brunch is served in the day time. Cailin recommended the breakfast sandwich or the jidori chicken & waffle. I opted for the breakfast sandwich to keep it light. The bacon and jalapeño jam, amazing. Other great options would be the avocado toast or the shakshuka. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Really cute spot in the middle of the funk zone. The crudo was very good, along with the catch of the day cooked perfectly. Ambiance and vibe was a toned down LA vibe. The staff was very nice and heaters everywhere for those chilly nights.

I had an amazing diner with my girls here during our trip to Santa Barbara. The service js top notch and very professionals. It is on pricier side but the food is really delicious. We had several dishes to share ( recommended) and each of them is so unique, well decorated and tasty . There is outdoor/ indoor sitting.

The Lark in SB is one of those dining experiences that stays with you. From the moment you walk in, everything just feels right. The atmosphere, the service, all of it. We started with the rosemary butter cornbread and it set the tone for the entire meal. Rich, warm, and the kind of starter that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. Then the Jidori free range chicken breast came out and it was on another level. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and you could taste the quality in every bite. The staff made the whole experience feel special without being over the top. Attentive, genuine, and clearly proud of what they're serving. That combination of great food and great people is hard to find and The Lark has it.

Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5 Food 4/5 What a fun and charming restaurant! Brick walls, wood accents and ironwork chandeliers abound making this place great for a special occasion or just fun times with friends (louder near the bar/kitchen area). Lots of wonderful outdoor seating to enjoy the Santa Barbara weather! My friend and I sat inside towards the rear of the restaurant, but there were large open doors to a quieter outdoor area creating a nice flow. Our table for 2 was so cute! One seat consisted of an old confessional that they turned into a booth. Now on to the food! Food is meant to be shared. For 2 of us we ordered 4 dishes - cornbread, broccolini, pasta and lamb. Best cornbread I've ever had! I need to steal this recipe! The lamb is riblets (not lamb chop) so just be aware of that. It was cooked medium and the sauce it was basted in was perfect. The broccolini was also good with some char. Gave food 4/5 because the pasta was over salted. Oh maybe we got 5 dishes. I forgot the sour cream donuts for dessert! Loved the donuts but not a fan of the sauce it came with. Waitstaff was excellent and helpful! Wonderful dinner.

Beautiful ambiance. Serving size was just right. A little on the expensive side. Cornbread definitely is worth the try. Grits with the fried chicken was flavorful.

Such a warm and inviting setting for a casual date. Morning date with my hubby. Menu is small plates and shareable style. Need to order a few things. We ordered the side of peppered Bacon which is 2 pieces cut in half, toasted banana butter bread, cast iron shakshuka, and of course with a Texan chef we chose the southern fried chicken and sourdough waffle. The chicken and waffle was delicious I would recommend. Our server Gianna was kind and prompt with our order despite several tables being sat same time. For the Coffee option with milk, oat milk or almond no latte cappuccino or specialty coffee drinks. They do have specialty cocktails and juices.

The Lark is a beautiful restaurant in Santa Barbara with lots of outdoor seating--definitely more outdoor than indoor, which adds to its charm. The portions are on the smaller side and feel more suited for sharing, tapas-style, in my opinion. The pork belly eggs Benedict was a bit misleading, as it came with only one egg. My drip coffee (in a small cup) was $7 with no refills, which felt steep. That said, the chicken and waffles were the standout dish, and the kids' chicken tenders were the real MVP. I'd come back for the ambiance and charm of the place, but given the price point and portion sizes, it's hard to fully love.

In the heart of the Funk Zone is a cool spot to eat that even has a Michelin rating. It's spacious place to dine inside or out. I loved their crunchy chicken and sourdough waffle. The salmon gravlox platter was a nice healthy choice. There's lots of interesting things on the menu. Worth visiting!

I visited The Lark for a birthday brunch on a sunny warm day. Since we were a larger group, we had to pick between two preset family style brunch menus. Although the menu was preset, everything I tried was delicious. The menu items were not typically what I would order, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The service was fast and very accommodating to us. The Lark is so beautiful and a must visit when you're in Santa Barbara.

We came here on a Monday night after eloping at the courthouse and were excited to celebrate. We had a reservation and were seated quickly at an outdoor table. Things started off strong--our drinks and appetizers came out promptly and were enjoyable. However, the timing for the entrees really took away from the experience. They took an unusually long time to arrive, and we weren't the only ones feeling it. The table next to us was clearly frustrated as well, even considering having one person leave while the other waiting for the last dish to be packed to go yet they were still stuck waiting. By the time our food finally came out, we had lost much of our appetite. While the setting and start of the meal were great, the overall experience felt a bit overpriced for what it ended up being. It was disappointing, especially for what we had hoped would be a memorable, special dinner.

The Lark is a must-visit in Santa Barbara! The ambiance is warm and inviting and the service was excellent throughout the night. I came here with a group of 15 for a bachelorette which was set up with a prix fixe family-style menu- which is always hit or miss by nature, but enough dishes were great enough to have me eager to come back and explore the à la carte menu. I'm still thinking about the cornbread, the Fisherman's Catch, and those doughnut holes with the orange curd! - dill pickle popcorn: mind blowing. We actually had to ask the waitress how this was made. Think salt and vinegar chips but better- in popcorn form - Crispy Brussels Sprouts: good well-executed. A good app. - Brown Butter Rosemary Cornbread: An absolute highlight of the night. The browned butter alone is worth the visit. Don't skip this..I'm still thinking about it! - Line Caught Crudo: My least favorite of the evening. Didn't work for me and many girls left it. The texture was rubbery and I didn't enjoy the creamy sauce - Roasted Beet Salad: Light and refreshing, a nice palate cleanser in the middle of the meal. - The Fisherman's Catch -- One of the best dishes of the night. Beautifully executed and memorable. Fish was so flaky with a crispy skin - Lamb Ribs: Disappointing. Barely any meat on the bones...not worth it in a family-style setting where you're sharing. - Jidori Fried Chicken: Good, solid comfort food done well. - Sourdough Donut Holes: A perfect ending. Fun, warm, and the valencia orange curd pairing was inspired. Highly recommend.

We were visiting for memorial weekend and this was the best meal of the trip. Everything was incredibly delicious. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. My husband is from GA so he is picky when it comes to southern style food but he loved the cornbread and fried chicken and grits dinner. We wish we had ordered more food to try with how incredible everything was.

Blurry pic of the cornbread. I was too ready to eat it to take a good pic!

Test Pilot lands somewhere in the orbit of tiki without fully crash-landing on a bamboo runway, and…read morehonestly, that works in its favor. In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

I've been to Santa Barbara loads of time and this was the first time walking into this place. They did have a security guard in front checking ID. Tables and booths were pretty much taken but we manage to get a seat at the bar counter. Cocktail menu had all you drinks, both mixed and specialty. It's a full bar so whatever you're craving I'm sure they could create. We got a few drinks as there was a couple of us. The bartenders was really sweet and fun. She was having a good time and taking care of everyone. It was only her when we walked in but a few others showed up a couple of minutes later. One of the cocktails was a bit too sweet for me so I opted for another. Went with a beer which was ok. Drink wise, about 18-20.00 per cocktails. About average wherever you go to now. Even though we were at the bar counter, a waitress came over to take our order. Piano man was very good. When we walked in he was taking request from the audience. Afterwards, the song choices were pretty great. And the sing along with everyone was fun. Hence why people love a good piano bar. Would I come back, yes. The vibe was great. It was fun place with a good amount of seating. There's a nice big bar area as well as patio seating in front. I don't know if food is offered. Would definitely come back for a fun night.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience. We were looking for a laid-back and unique venue, and Brass Bear absolutely delivered. From start to finish, the team (especially Emily!) went above and beyond to make our day perfect. The space itself is welcoming and full of character, while also feeling elevated and thoughtfully designed. We actually saved a lot on decor because the venue was already so beautiful on its own. The top things that really set Brass Bear apart (aside from the space itself) were the staff and the food/drinks. The staff -- Every single person we worked with was kind, responsive, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure everything ran smoothly and that it was truly the party of our dreams. They were incredibly accommodating, handled logistics seamlessly, and anticipated needs before we even had to ask. It honestly felt like they cared about our wedding just as much as we did. Also throughout the evening, on their own, the amazing staff checked in on me and the groom, seeing if we wanted a drink refill or a cup of water. The food-- Hands down the best menu we sampled while choosing a reception venue. We wanted a place that would have a spread guests would talk about long after the event, and for months afterward our friends and family were still bringing up the tri-tip and how good everything tasted. Not only was the main food insanely delicious, the welcome charcuterie table was put together beautifully with so many options. The drinks -- The open bar was fantastic! Brass Bear offered a great variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks as part of their open bar, the flow of guests being served at multiple bar stations stayed steady all evening with no bottlenecks, and they even helped me create a custom cocktail to match my purple hair. I also probably emailed (literally) a thousand questions throughout the planning process, and every single one was met with a kind, thoroughly explained answer, or a "let's see if we can make that work!" response, which made the planning feel like a breeze and really fun. If you're considering Brass Bear Brewery for a wedding, celebration, or any special event, do not hesitate. They helped create memories we'll treasure forever, and we are SO grateful we chose them. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

My only gripe is that I wish they had two bartenders during the busier nights. They could be short staffed though. Nonetheless, it's still a great spot for good quality cocktails.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Cool artsy bar with great cocktails…read more We were looking for a place to wet our whistles before dinner and this place looked promising. Located right next to the Granada Theater on the main drag, it looked to have undergone recent renovations and had a very chill but stylish ambiance. There was plenty of seating on a Wednesday night, and our bartender was a friendly young woman. The hubby got the spiced rum old fashioned, which had an ice cube with a lion's face etched onto it--a nice touch. I got one of their tiny Negronis, which came in a cute tiny mug and cost $5 (it sounded fun). Both tasted great and we had a nice time sipping our drinks and taking in the decor. Alas we had to be on our way so couldn't linger long, but we'd definitely love to stop by again the next time we're in town.
