I am prefacing this review by saying I very rarely give 5 star reviews (as you can see from my review history) but every once in a while, you come across a merchant who truly deserves the rating. This is my second 5 star review out of a current 130 total and 4 years of yelping. Euro Motors saved my hide big time after a debacle with a large national car repair chain. Dave and Mark had restored my faith in the auto repair industry and in my own car. After a very stressful weekend of car woes and getting yanked around by another shop, I was starting to peruse new/used car ads. Very fortuitously, I was referred to Euro Motors by an auto equipment sales rep when I was trying to source a refurbished engine control unit that the chain said I needed to make my car run. I was also given a thumbs up from dealership parts manager on EuroMotors. Pros: 1) Euro Motors has a lot of experience with foreign cars. They are very knowledgeable about Saab IMHO and got me back on the road very quickly and very economically. I had the car towed to them at 12:30, received an 'all is fixed' call by 5 PM on Monday. I picked up the car next day since I needed to get there by bus. They also knew right off the bat, that I had most likely been mis-diagnosed by the other repair shop based on phone conversation and Saab experience alone and told me to hold off on buying the refurbished ECU. 2) They charge true cost for OEM parts and are very upfront about what they are using to fix one's car. In addition, Euro Motors keeps many of the parts on site. 3) Labor rates are very competitive and Euro Motors charges by true time measurements. I won't put the rates here but I know that they are at least $16/hr cheaper than the dealership. 4) They made arrangements for towing for me and billed me back on a separate invoice so I can easily submit to my insurance company. 5) I couldn't take a bus all the way to their location but when I called for directions from the bus route, they actually came to pick me up! 6) Dave (the owner) and Mark (who worked on my car) are both so completely nice. They must be used to dealing with hysterical females because they were both very reassuring and calming to me (not an easy feat after a truly nerve wrenching weekend for me). Mark also made it a point to review everything that was done to my car. In the process of doing the initial fix, he found some rotted hosing in my car that he fixed at virtually no additional labor since it took so little time. This little preventative act saved me much guaranteed headache down the line as it was causing me to leak a little oil. I truly believe that Euro Motors cares about its customers, based upon my experience with them. It's funny because that's what the Weber Brothers equipment rep told me before I called Euro Motors and I didn't think it could be true of any shop. But now I am a believer. I can't think of a single con for the business except that I wish I had found them years ago. I give them a lot of credit for saving my car and my sanity. read more

Once upon a time, I left my house in New Hampshire, headed for Carlisle for a gathering. About halfway there, my accursed-yet-still-very-beloved Saab began to act strangely; I threw some new parts at it and had some friends throw some other parts at it, but it was still running like garbage, and I just about coasted to my destination. We suspected a fuel pump-- unlikely, since the pump was all of two months old-- but with the car kinda running, the decision was made to try to limp it back home to New Hampshire. Since I am writing a review of a mechanic in Harrisburg, I'm sure you can imagine what happened next. I suspect that Mark and crew were surprised to find a dead Saab just sitting there on a Monday morning, but without knowing whose car it was and why it was there, Mark got to work diagnosing the problem. By the time we spoke mid-day on Monday, he had narrowed down the issue (blasted fuel pump!). Knowing that the car was far from home, Mark also made sure that I wasn't slumming around Harrisburg waiting, and promised to squeeze me and my poor car onto the schedule for this week. By Tuesday, Mark had pulled out the defective part, explained to me why the part had failed, and provided me enough information that I was able to have a new pump sent to the shop courtesy of the dealership that had previously replaced it (saving me quite a pretty penny in the process). By Thursday, my car was ready to go. Mark is patient, empathetic, pleasant, an excellent problem-solver, and truly a stand-up guy. He understood the uniquely rotten position I was in, listened while I explained what had been done to try to fix the car, weighed the input of the mechanics (trained and shadetree) that I had consulted before the car finally gave up the ghost, and kept me posted throughout the entire process. I appreciated that Mark was upfront about refusing to use subpar aftermarket parts to fix the car-- and knew which manufacturers to avoid in order to prevent future problems. Most importantly, Mark never spoke down to me -- as a woman who can fix many things just as easily as she can break them, I am always angry when I go to a shop and leave feeling patronized (at best) or taken advantage of (at worst). Not the case at all with Mark. My only gripe is that I'm a little sad I live several states away because I'd gladly bring my accursed-yet-still-very-beloved Saab back to him any time.
