Came in on a weekday to drop off my son's suit pants for alteration. The man who finally came out of the back room saw us and didn't even ask what we needed. He immediately said he wasn't taking any orders because he was too busy with prom season. I didn't even say when I needed the pants by. There was no rush. I just needed them before 5/16 (a month later). He was incredibly rude and unwelcoming.I advised my son to tell his entire fraternity at UTK to NOT use this place for alterations. We're passionate about how much we love European Alterations. It's so inexpensive, we take even things like athletic shorts here to be taken up. My mom just got a pantsuit's legs hemmed for $15. Came here based on reviews and was not disappointed! I had a special Christmas gift for my mom that I needed altered at the last minute, I literally dropped off the Tuesday before Christmas and needed by Saturday in time for her to be able to open it. I expected to be told I was crazy especially after seeing all the stuff in the shop he is already working on, but he told me he would have it done. So I left it with my fingers crossed it would be done in time. See my mom never asks for anything so when she does, I do everything I can to make it happen. This year she wanted a mini housecoat, being that she has bad arthritis in her shoulders, it helps having something warm to cover up just her shoulders. I went online to search and couldn't find anything, so my next step was to get a housecoat and have it altered. I called on Saturday to see if it was ready and it was! When I picked it up, I was floored by the amazing job they did. Not only was the seam work amazing, but he also made a small pocket on it for her out of the extra material. First, I had never used a tailor before. So I don't have anything to compare him to. Second, he does such a GREAT job, I don't need to find another tailor! Quite reasonable prices, approx 15$ to slim a dress shirt in the sides and sleeves, and approx 10$ to take in the waist in a pair of slacks. I'm fairly tall and somewhat athletic. Rack clothes that fit my shoulders and chest rarely fit my waist and hips. After visiting this guy, I feel like my clothes were made for me, and I look like I've lost 20 pounds. The shop is somewhat messy. But I'd rather he have the low overhead and pass the prices onto me, than pay a lot more for an eyecatching space that doesn't matter to my clothes. read more

Brought a dress to have hemmed and they made it too short and then when they said they would fix it, they took out the hem leaving holes and runs in the fabric, they did not charge me due to me being very disappointed but my dress is still too short!!!! I've had around 2 dozen pieces of clothing (ranging from leather pants and jeans to an expensive evening gown) shortened or taken in, and I have been pleased with EVERYTHING. By far the best tailor I have ever used! I had 2 pair of high-end denim altered here (taken in and shortened) and they turned out FANTASTIC! They fit like a glove and best of all, they have a surger machine so they can keep the original looking hem on them without having to re-sew the original back on. I dropped in today to have a broken zipper replaced on a dress. I've had this service done at other alterations shops in knoxville, and it's always bee at least a couple of days before I get my dress back, which is fine. However, I was very impressed when this tailor made a snip and a couple of stitches and sent me on my way in maybe 10 minutes, and was very nice to me in the process. I am surprised to see so many good reviews for this place. I took this guy 2 pair of brand new jeans that I had custom made and paid good money for. I needed the leg openings tapered by 2 inches. He explained to me how he would do it and he seemed knowledgable as well as friendly. 2 weeks later, got the pants back and they look AWFUL! He cut the original seam out halfway up the leg and did not replace it with the same seam, just a generic single seam like a pair of dress pants. Now I am out 2 pairs of jeans and a lot of money. I generally don't like to leave bad reviews, but I was so disappointed with the alterations done to my jacket I felt the need to warn potential customers. Let me explain. I had purchased a $550 Patagonia soft shell and when I received it the sleeves were about 4 inches to long. I searched the internet for a tailor with the best reviews, and found European alterations. I dropped off the jacket and was ensured that it was in good hands. A week later I went to pick it up and the seems around the sleeve were by no means straight, u could also see thread wholes where they had messed up and tried to fix it. Additionally the seems on the left arm began to come undone during the first wear. In all honesty, I have no knowledge of tailoring and feel confident that I could have done a better job. read more
