i had been looking for a specific car and was fortunate to find it at European Automobile Co. from the minute i walked in I felt comfortable and welcomed. working with Matt was a pleasure as he was honest upfront and friendly. Negotiations were straightforward and without any games. His knowledge is extraordinary and his love for automobiles obvious. The inventory is diverse and beautifully maintained. The premises are spotless and the atmosphere relaxing. in 20 minutes we worked out the details and it was pleasant and stress free. With the internets ability to find the car you want, there is more and more temptation to buy a car from a remote dealer - as I did from European Automobile Co. But don't make the same mistake I did with this company. Do not buy a car on his word and do not buy a car from him with out a full mechanic inspection. His name is Matt and he has a wonderful approach that comes across with such a caring personality and with such honesty...In hind site it is all so calculated, and after the check clears you meet the other Matt - the one that doesn't return calls or emails, or makes promises that are never realized. He turns into the proverbial NY Used Car Salesman ... Look at the descriptions of the dozens of cars he has for sale ....they all say "Just driven 45k careful miles" or whatever the milage is. Imagine all of the cars that he buys at auction...are only the ones driven with "careful miles" all of the descriptions are just the same as if all of the cars are in the same in identical perfect careful condition. On top of all the smooth talk that makes you feel good and his quick (even after hours) response before the sale, there is his wonderful presentation of how he puts all of the cars "through the shop" so that they are fully tuned and repaired and ready to go. This turns out to be a car wash and vacuum at most... The Mercedes I bought had a cracked mirror which he was to be replace as part of the deal. When it wasn't done at pick up he said it would be sent up Monday and I would have to get it installed, but then it just never arrived and the car wouldn't pass inspection, months later after tormenting him he sent me a check so that I could buy one he found on ebay, turns out it was an aftermarket part and the money he sent was about half of getting the right MB part. I figured since I didn't trust him at this point, I'd take it in for an oil service right away and was I in for a shocker on this 43k mile carefully driven one owner MB. The transmission fluid was over filled so the shifting was jumpy, there was a wobble in the front end which I assumed was just a tire out of balance- nope both front wheels were bent. Then there are the rubber boots on the front half shafts, both ripped apart and that turned out to be a 1500 job and hopefully the u-joints are not contaminated by road sand as the half shaft are a 4500 job. Then there is the A/C which he said BLOWS COLD...well it did in the front seats, but the back seat A/C control only pumped heat - all the time. that was a 500 job. Then there is the front right ball joint thats gone...and so on. All this on top of his detailed description of how clean and mint the one owner car was, no rust (nope the fender edges are all rusted and getting ready to come out on the rear fenders, original paint-nope, paint work and the rear section not put back together properly so the bumper trim sticks out 1/4 proud of the fender and you can see the paint tape lines. Then the lacrosse ball size dent in the roof he never mentioned and the crack in the heater control glass on the dash that he said was a reflection in the photo...and I could go on but you get the picture ... After reading the 3 reviews below, i would agree to most of them, the great and the not so.i purchased my 1st car with Matt in 2009 and still have it. Car #2 was a family car with 65000 miles that Matt suggested to pick against the exact same model with fewer miles he also had in stock. His comment at the time was: 'trust me, the 1st one is better'. And it turned out to be a great buy. Later on, i wanted a Volvo XC90 that he presented at a real undermarket value. He was very clear that my choice was questionable as well as selling it 'as is'. Of course, the experience was a disasterand i ended up doubling my initial investment after 2 years.Should i blame him? Not really, he was clear enough. And don't expect the manufacturer to behave better, Volvo never hesitated to rob me for a transmission that should have been repaired at cost for a well identified issue. The 4th and last car (so far) has been my daily driver for 3 years. When a dead sensor stopped the car after 1 month, Matt was not in a hurry to return my calls cf Wayne's complaint. I ended up fixing it at my expenses, $200 was not a big deal after all, It's just frustrating. Purchasing another one through him is definitely an option I will consider. It s just a matter of personal expectation where you're in the market for a used car. Other experiences with dealers in the area as well as in Connecticut were less pleasant, by far. read more

Don't know what other reviewer is talking about...this is the first "genuine" car sales company I've ever dealt with. The guy there is more knowledgeable than anyone else, and literally helped me pick the right car for me. I could tell these guys are anal about the cars they buy to sell, and knew everything about each car's history as if it were their own. He literally talked me out of cars as he helped me narrow my decision to the Jaguar I bought. Tell you this right now...I will never buy new from a traditional dealer again! They have so many low mileage cars to buy, that take away the biggest depreciation factors (I don't care if someone drove the first 2,000 miles) and eliminate the bogus "Destination fees" of $899. Let that be someone else's expense. I have already referred 4 friends to Matt at European and I'm going to encourage them to share their experiences on this as well, because it deserves to be told. If you want to finally enjoy the car buying experience (because it normally the worst hours of your life) then call them. They are honest, and seem bright enough and successful enough to know that selling problems only creates more of them. I dug that. read more

Why would you go anywhere else! I've purchased many pre owned vehicles over the years and by far this was the most satisfying experience. Matt is a true professional as well as a sincere gentleman. After bringing my mechanic Nephew with me to test drive a 2016 Range Rover Evoque, he told me that the car was in great shape but could probably use 2 front tires soon. After I mentioned this to Matt, he did not hesitate in saying it would not be a problem and 2 new matching Perrelli tires were put on the front as well as replacing the front brake pads because they were a little worn. ( I did not ask for this, he took it upon himself to do it when his service guy gave a pre delivery inspection.) There were no extra bullshit fees that you get from every other dealership and the agreed upon price was as plain as day on the bill of sale. Needless to say, we will definitely purchase from European Automobile Co. in the future as well as highly recommend to a friend. Thanks again Matt and his Team!! read more

Matt's the best car guy around, period. I just picked up a G-wagon from him, great truck. This is the 4th car I've purchase from Matt over the years and I would never trust anyone else. If you want to buy a high end or better yet any car I would pass on this establishment. your money WILL go longer somewhere else. Anyway, I posted this because I don't want anyone else to waste their time here. I emailed matt as well as called two times and he never returned any of my calls. So, i decided to take a drive over to the place. The picture of the cars online look pretty good. however, upon approaching the establishment there were no cars there. I proceeded to open the front door and saw 3 desks. I asked the man at one of the desks, i am inquiring about a car. He didn't even look up or let me finish and said "sold." Then i asked him, " could I see any more of your cars?" He said, "look online." So i left. As i left a flat bed truck pulled up with a dodge durango and a man with a suit got out of the truck and the car he got from the place just broke down on the freeway.
