All of the food is made fresh, everything my fiancé and I have tried was delicious! We got a dozen potato pierogis and a dozen sauerkraut pierogis, as well as a container of the Stuffed Cabbage, and everything was excellent--the pierogis were soft and had wonderful texture and the stuffed cabbage was so delicious I was sad we didn't get a second container. We also bought a bottle of sparkling apple cider and some hot pepper spread, and I now want a jar of the spread in my house at all times. I love their cookies. They also have pigs in the blanket. That's what I call them but I'm not sure what they're called in the store. But if you get a chance try them they're excellent, three big ones for $15. read more

Stopped by to pick up pierogies i ordered the day before. Ended up buying some noodles and cabbage and chicken prapriska (spelling?) pre-made in the back fridge and some kielbasa. So far ate the chicken prapriska and noodles and cabbage and will definitely be going back for more! Man, how i miss those! read more

I had the cabbage and noodles. I couldn't believe how salty it was, couldn't even eat it! Such a small portion for $9.99. Will never go there again. Better off going to one of the deli's in Linden for real authentic Polish food. The food and prices are much better. Don't waste your time or money here!!!!! read more

My new go to spot for kielbasa and pierogis. The kielbasa tasted just like the fresh my old boyfriends dad used to make and the pierogis spot on. ts great to find a place that brings back the tastes of growing up.... when moms stayed home and cooked from scratch. To be honest the nut roll was little dry but I would definitely get again. Brought back memories and so happy that the old way of preparing ethic foods the old world way is alive and well at the European deli. I highly recommend !! read more

I know you've had Eastern European cold cuts: kielbasa, knockwurst, bratwurst, to name the most commonly recognizable ones. Well, step aside Poland and Germany, Hungarian cold cuts are here in Woodbridge! This is a genuine Hungarian deli! The real deal. Hungarian cold cuts IMHO, are the tastiest in Eastern European deli fare...no...make that, deli fare in general. OK..a disclaimer before I proceed: I am a native born Hungarian, and thus, maybe a little biased on this subject -but humor me. You'll find in many ethic cuisines that neighboring countries will have dishes that are very similar, if not outright copies of one another - often causing heated debate, to put it lightly. Think Turkey and Greece, France and Northern Italy, Spain and Portugal...you get the idea. Hungarian cold cuts share many similarities with Polish, German, and Austrian offerings. In fact, in this country, the more commonly found German and Polish delis will often carry a gratuitious Hungarian Kolbasz, a dried smoked pork sausage flavored with garlic and paprika. What makes Hungarian deli meats stand out from the rest is their bold, assertive and spicy flavor profiles, accomplished with the addition of copious amounts of Hungarian paprika (as opposed to the likes of McCormick's store-bought stuff), marjoram, and garlic. Hungarians love heat in their food, However, not everything is prepared hot. The above mentioned Kolbasz, f'instance, usually comes in a sweet, as well as a hot version. You'll never mistake this for a Kosher deli. Hungarian cold cuts are almost exclusively made from pork. We are most used to seeing smoked slab bacon in this country, the kind prepared for breakfast. But not the Hungarians. The last time I was at this deli they had something like 5 or 6 different types of bacon: smoked, smoked with Paprika, cooked with garlic, all fat bacon cooked confit-style poached in lard, and some others I can't remember. This place also has many other delicacies that you probably never had, like hurka ( 2 types: liver sausage & blood sausage), real Hungarian Salami (considered by many to be the best in the world), fried pork rind (Chiccharones in Spanish) - 2 kinds: all fat and a leaner cut, and two or three different kinds of head Cheese that will change your life. They also have some great baked goods. My favorite is the Toportyus Pogacsa, a crispy-on-the outside and soft and chewy on-the-inside, savory muffin studded with bacon pieces. This is to die for! Something you won't find anywhere else. And they offer authentic Hungarian cheeses as well as fresh baked goods from excellent bread to pastries, both sweet and savory. Most of these are artisinally homemade, and, of course, fresh. I could go on, but suffice to say that this place is one of a kind, the likes of which you probably won't see except maybe in NYC. In my time of need to assist a tragedy that occurred in my dear friend's family I called upon Europeon Deli to supply a rush job of food to send to my friend's home. Ildiko answered the phone and I told her I do not live in the area but I wanted a place that offers fresh home cooked food and usually the europeon delis are the best. Little did I know that that this particular Europeon Deli was above and beyond the best. Ildiko was kind and compassionate as I explained the horrid tragedy which befell my friend and she helped me prepare a package of food for delivery. In spite of the grief that my friend is enduring she telephoned me more than once and cannot stop praising the freshness and the delicious taste of every item she received. I send home cooked food, potato bread and the apple streudel. My post is not only to review the food of Europeon Deli but also to recognize the compassion and understanding of Ildiko, she was so patient and kind and listened to my every word and did not rush me off the phone.
