Great subs with staff that make them as you like them. The meat is fresh and thick on the sub. The dressing is well proportion so it doesn't drown the roll and the rolls are so fresh. No wonder why so many famous people have gone there including presidents! Small sandwich shop that's super famous because presidents have been here. The sandwich is huge and definitely super filling. We got the whole sandwich and we had to eat it multiple times to finish it. There's a long line but it goes quick. They have mac salad and potato salad in the fridge on the side. It's been more than a year since I've been back and I have missed the place. Planned a day trip to Princeton and ended it by grabbing a couple #5's (Super Sub) to bring home. It was well worth the total 1.5 hours of driving because the super sub was just as good as I remember it. From the bread to the meat and veggies, I don't know how they do it but it's just that good. We each got a side of potato salad for $1 each and a pickle. The sides were small, maybe a scoop or two but a nice compliment to the sub which was easily 18". We split it into 4ths and had 2 meals each out of it. Bread was super soft and we had it topped with provolone cheese, mayo, lettuce and tomato, the usual toppings. I get that the meats may not be the best quality but let's get real, I'm not sure what I'd expect from a $7 half sub that could be a full meal. In 2023, I'm not sure there are many sandwiches as filling as this. The veggies, lettuce and tomato, are super fresh, with a lasting impression on the crunch of the lettuce, which is amazing. The bread is pretty good, unlike that well known shop that advertises too often on TV. The meat may not be the best but the combination of fresh veggies, bread and meat, is what I think separates Tastee apart from its competitors. Wow, I have haven't had a sub like this in awhile! Bringing it back to the basics - all about the simple ingredients. The turkey sliced thinly and not dry by any means. I ordered two foot long subs, one roast beef and one turkey. My roast beef sub was fine, typical low amount of meat; the turkey on the other hand was completely barren of ingredients on one end of the sandwich. I called the restaurant to make a complaint and instead of addressing my issue the gentleman named Austin speaking on the phone was extremely disrespectful, asking me to "lower my voice." I patiently explained that I had driven well over an hour away to provide my crew with their lunch for the day, to which he answered that if I came back he would make me another sandwich. The prices are fantastic considering how large and shareable these epic sammies are. I suggest buying a few and share with the family! I just purchased a smoked turkey sub and when I began to eat it, I noticed the flavor was very different that what I'm used to. It was so different (bland, no flavor), I called them and they confirmed that they had to change brands. As expensive as Tastee has become you would think they would try to obtain the same quality of cold cuts that made them famous. Solid for a Jersey Style sub shop. The family was cutting through central Jersey and we wanted a traditional Jersey Italian sub. My wife found this place and we decided to give it a try. There is a limited number of seats so don't assume you'll have a place to sit and eat during busy times. The sub itself was good. Good quality on the freshly sliced meats though a bit spare on the proteins for the sub. The toppings and cheese were good and plentiful and they did a good job with the oil and vinegar, spicy relish and mayo we requested. Chip options are decent and about what you would expect for a sub shop. A major knock for me is that they were a Pepsi place and no Dr Pepper either, meaning I went with a Snapple from the cooler. All in all a solid if unspectacular option. If you're in the area, it's worth a stop. I would not suggest one travel from far but worth a trip from 10-15 miles around to get a sub here. read more

The bread they use is so soft and their tomatoes are clearly grown in NJ because they taste amazing. And when you pay with cash, you get 10% off! You can typically find a line out the door for customers waiting, but don't be fooled. It'll be your turn in no time. The line goes quick because the workers are so efficient and they know what they're doing. They work like a factory line to get the line moving quick, and the workers are always so nice.
