The receptionist here are all super kind & cool energy including the waxers here, plus they're not pushy trying to sell products

It's been a long time since I've had a professional wax and I will absolutely not be returning to EWC. While they have flexible availability and the esthetician was nice enough, she paid very little attention to detail as there was quite a lot of wax left behind. I was also extremely annoyed by the pushy receptionists. When I came in, I got the package spiel from one person. When I was checking out, I got it again from someone else - this time I had to say no multiple times in multiple ways. I don't want to go to an esthetic visit to get a sales pitch. Ever. The specialists here are EXCELLENT. However, if you are a walk-in, the check-in process and front-desk attendant(s) leave much to be desired. Don't come here without an appointment, and don't expect the front staff to be attentive. I came in a few weeks ago on a Friday as a walk-in, fully anticipating that there would be some kind of wait time. I was fully prepared to wait when I arrived at 1:35 PM, no big deal--I could find something else to do or somewhere else to shop while I waited. I'd driven an hour into town and had a whole list of places to be and errands to run, but I was flexible. I checked in directly with the front-desk attendant with the curly afro, who, after struggling to pull me up in the system, informed me that there was an open slot at 2PM. I thought, "Great, I'll just wait here, then." I told her I'd take the 2PM slot, she confirmed it, and then I took a seat. 20 minutes later, it's 2PM and I'm still waiting, but I just figured the wax specialist was running late. Again, no big deal. I kept waiting. The front-desk attendant didn't address me again until another 20 minutes later at 2:20 PM, when another woman--I assume her supervisor--emerged from the back and subtly gestured to her to question what I was doing there sitting around. The curly-haired attendant then asked for my name and I gave it. She typed my name in, looked at me and said, verbatim: "It says here you were never checked in." I asked "What do you mean? I checked in WITH YOU." Her response was the same: "I'm sorry, it says you were never checked in." It was her phrasing that was so infuriating. I can only assume that it was because her supervisor was there that she didn't want to admit to any error on her part. Maybe she accidentally scheduled me for 2PM the next day? I have no way of knowing, because she offered zero explanation for why I was not checked in after I literally checked in directly WITH HER 45 minutes prior. No apology whatsoever for having me wait 45 minutes for nothing. No ownership or accountability for the inconvenience it may have caused me. Not even a simple acknowledgment that we had ever even spoken. Not a "That's weird..." or a "I don't know what happened with the system..." ...nothing. She looked at me like she was seeing me for the first time that day, as if she had absolutely nothing to do with my being there, and had no idea who I was or why I was there before her supervisor pointed her out to me 45 minutes after she herself had looked me up in the system and (apparently NOT) checked me in. She then offered to re-schedule me for the next appointment at 3:30, but I declined to wait for another hour. At that point, I just left, finished my errands, then drove to the VA beach location where I got better service (and a wait time of less than 20 minutes for a walk-in appt). I don't mind waiting as a walk-in. My job schedule jumps around--which makes it hard to make/keep appointments. And I'm coming from an hour outside of the city, so I always come with the intention of being flexible. I understand people make mistakes, and it may even just even be that the scheduling system was new and wonky. But if you can't acknowledge when you make a mistake, it suggests you'll make those mistakes again, and that I'll be expected to pay for it with my time. I've been visiting this location for over a year now. Isaiah , Bryanna , Imani and Adaizha have ALWAYSSSS provided excellent customer service every visit. Waxes are very thorough. It's very clean and quiet and the staff is always very friendly. I've done several wax passes and products they're always worth it and they work to accommodate you. Hair growth and ingrowns have significantly decreased since I started coming here and I've been waxing for years. The front desk staff are always warm and welcoming -- they genuinely take the time to get to know you and make you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. I see Amanda for my services, and she is truly the best wax specialist I've ever had. Not only is she professional and thorough, but she's also incredibly thoughtful. They got me with their free promotional wax. I took advantage of their military discount pricing. It still is or to get a package but if you wax often it is worth it. If you buy a certain amount of waxes they give you extra free. They gave me a first time customer goodie bag to sample their products. I had some good professional employees who took care of me and gave me an excellent wax experiement. This is my fourth visit. I had been coming regularly and I haven't had issues with the girls i usually see. I was totally bummed that I was told last minute that the girl I originally go with is no longer here. Every single esthetician that I was expecting to get an appointment with no longer works at this salon. I was so sad that I wasn't going to see tiana and lala.. they were the women I'd highly recommend. They gave me someone else who had only worked at european wax for four months. Her name is ashley. I was really skeptic and I had every reason to be knowing I've never seen this girl perform. I was so worried about ingrown hair. Ashley was ok I come back home only to find that she had missed various areas upon doing my wax. Now I have to go back! I went back they resolved the issues. But sadly my ingrown hairs are irreversible. read more

I went back for my 2nd Brazilian wax at the Greenbrier location in Chesapeake, VA. I had been going to another spa for over 2 years now and had grown tired of the commute (8min drive to EWC vs 25+ most times). I selected Gina online at random and let me tell you ... she is AMAZING. Super chill, incredibly professional, and just as meticulous. She goes the extra mile, busts out the tweezers, spends an additional couple of minutes if she has to, just to ensure you leave with not a single hair remaining. She always makes sure you're comfortable and even tells you to take a deep breath before removing the wax from the more sensitive areas. Something I hadn't been experiencing at the other place I was going. Clearly I had no idea what I was missing. So far from what I can tell, the staff is all kind and personable. While I like EWC and the products they use for waxing, a lot of focus is spent on trying to have patrons buy packages. I dislike that when you receive your receipt; it doesn't show how many services you have remaining on your package purchase. I once spent 30 minutes proving to the manager I had unused services since their system may not accurately track. You can opt to stay with the same technician or whomever is available based on your schedule. I do like that when new technicians join the team, they'll email you for a free wax service to allow that person to hone their technique. Patrons are able to accuse points by booking their next service in store or online. They do have discounts options for students and military but check before booking as promotions are subject to change w/little to no notice. Depending on your situation, most services are quick (15 mins) and they do perform some services for males. Call to inquire to be sure. Located next to Kirkland's in a shared parking lot of the Crossway's shopping area; it is a very clean establishment and the reception is cordial. Make sure you sign up for their email as they often relay information about their new openings, and promotions. Expect to be offered an upsale of products post-service. They have their own line of products but if you have a lower cost, equally effective product there's no hard feelings if you don't buy theirs. An overall 3.75 star experience read more

They really trick you. I didn't ask for a free wax by a new tech, I would have happily paid for a full service by an experienced one. But since it was my first time I guess that's what they thought I wanted. I'm really unhappy with the waxing I got, it made me really anxious that I kept asking for something that the tech wasn't doing and I ended up just saying I was happy with it and leaving. read more

I decided to try European Wax Center after having a few botched wax jobs and waiting an exhausting 2 hrs to get a wax at a few nail salons. At my first session (free by the way) i had a good experience. The aesthetician was awesome, she detailed every step and told me about the products she was using. The aestheticians here are also very conservative when it comes to waxing, they take off the bare minimum. Which i do appreciate but sometimes it looks as if i didnt get my eyebrows done. But I understand that they want to make the brows look fuller. Also during the free session, the aesthetician used a brow filler, which they do try to sell. It is a bit on the expensive side so i opted not to purchase, Nordstrom has a cheaper product but works just as good. At my second appointment, i had a different aesthetician but she was just as good as the first. Although, i am not sure the service (brow waxing) is worth $21. But for my its the only choice as the other salons in the area are not that good. read more

I never have a bad experience here and its been about fifty-leven times ! LOL. The women at the front desk are always smiling and in good moods always very welcoming. This location is always clean and quiet, its in the middle of a popular strip mall so parking is a hot commodity some days. Shaye is my favorite esthetician. She is THE BEST. She always has great conversation and she always works fairly quickly. She does the best waxing for me and I always leave feeling brand new lol. From the first time I've ever been here she's always made me feel relaxed and comfortable. I'm always in & out in less than 20 mins getting a Brazilian and armpit wax . The first time I came I was gifted a complimentary brow wax for being a first time client, horrible experience, asked for a clean up and left with my brows so uneven and so sure the Esthetician noticed because she made sure to ask if I fill them in. I've seen advertisements about European Wax Center all the time and recently found out that they have a location in Hampton roads. I wanted to check them out and for first time clients at the location, they offer complimentary waxing for any facial waxes and 50% off any larger body areas. Walking in, the lobby is super bright as the perimeter is all wall windows so when I sat and waited, I felt the heat of the sun on me. The entrance was very clean and the front desk people were nice as well. I came in early and Alesha B. was my esthetician. Walking into the back area where all the rooms are, it was much more spacier than it was in the front. So at every wax place I've been to, the tech usually walks away for a minute to let you undress or what have you but this location doesn't believe in that since they will see everything anyway. lol. I was confused at first because as she told me what to do, I was waiting for her to walk out; Not to my knowledge that she was going to stay in there the whole time. If I had known, I wouldn't have stood their all awkwardly...but it's okay, good thing I'm pretty vocal and questioned it. Alesha was sweet and very comforting. Literally just got my wax done but it was such a good experience I had to review! The front desk staff were very welcoming. The lady introduced some wax plans to me, but didn't make it pressuring or didn't persist when I told her "maybe not today". The place was so clean upon entering! Everyone was so professional. It was my first time getting a Brazilian wax so I was extremely nervous. My wax specialist was Whitney and I loved her! She got right to it and kept the conversation going so I had no choice but to just get it over with quickly! In addition to that, I had no idea first time guests got a discount on Brazilians. Every time I come everyone is super friendly. The wax specialists are really chill and make you comfortable. What keeps me really coming back are the ladies in the front! True life savers. They are so patient, kind and accommodating! It is really hard to find great customer service. There was a woman in particular, that worked the closing shift on Thursdays (8/6) and I didn't even get her name but she was great!! I wanted to tip her but didn't even notice a tip jar for them. The wax pass is a lifesaver during the holidays. The only complaint I have is there isn't consistency with waxers. I like some who pays attention to detail and gets all of the hair. In all fairness, this was the 1st time getting legs & underarms waxed ever. Hopes were high after reading online reviews. Reservations were made. When I arrived, the facility is immaculate, modern and pleasing to the eye. The front desk ladies were stand offish and cold. More concerned with making phone calls and their own conversation than any concerns/questions I had. I asked to use the restroom. I was a bit surprised at no bidet with "European" in the name, but ok. My provider was very nice and did her best to help me relax, but it is pulling hair from the root so it hurts. I asked ahead of time if there was anything special I needed to do to take care of the skin. For underarms I was given instructions, and my underarms turned out fantastic!! My legs though--eek!! I still have fur patches, quite a bit, and where there is no fur, my legs has cystic acne like a teenager's face. Not the smooth sexy European glow I had envisioned for my legs. They do offer 5 day touch ups, but with the pain/cystic acne that occured, I think I'll save my $$ and stick with learning how to dreadlock or French braid my leg hair from now on. Although the business cannot envision how each customer's skin will react to waxing, they can train their front desk customer service to be warm and inviting for people about to get skin & hair ripped off... This was the first time I had gotten a Brazilian wax from EWC and I was right to be skeptical on going to a chain company. My waxer was young and apparently inexperienced. I was confused as to why the wax was so quick. I could barely check myself out after because she stood there staring at me. I saw she missed so much hair when I finally got home and checked. I had to come all the way back from norfolk to chesapeake to get a "touch up". The way it's growing in now is not how it was when I had gotten a Brazilian from a different, small business salon. I tried this place due to forgetting to plan ahead and scheduling at my normal waxing place. I am sort of traumatized. I came here for a Brazilian and felt super awkward that they don't leave the room for you to undress at the beginning. I've never been to a waxing place that had that protocol. Second, my esthetician moved at a speed that led to a very rough wax. I was in and out in 12 minutes but only due to having large sections of wax being placed at a time. I know I was definitely wincing a lot but that was not addressed at all. It seemed they were more concerned about fitting more customers in than the quality of the experience. I've had waxes before but this one was quite the experience I was not expecting. After the experience I can say not a spot was missed but not sure if it was worth it. read more

I have only gotten a Brazilian wax twice. The first time was at a different place. The second time was here. I can def tell the difference. My wax experience here wasn't that great but to get straight to the point, the wax or the pulling off technique can't be right because it seemed like I shaved and I felt my hair growing back in the second day.
