I wasn't in search of a new hairstylist, as I love the one that I have gone to in the past. However, my go-to hairstylist is located in Wburg, so it takes a lot more coordination to make the trek to the other side of the water. My hair was so long and I was beyond annoyed with the length and definitely was in search of a new haircut. I asked my sister-in-law who she and my niece went to, and she referred me to Kayla at Sleek Salon & Spa. I submitted my inquiry on their website that night and that's where all the magic began. The inquiry was late, but I got a call from the salon mid-morning the very next day. The person who called me was so nice and answered my preliminary questions. It turned out that Kayla had availability that same day, so I jumped at the chance. - Kayla - My sister-in-law raved about her, so I was expecting no less. Kayla was super friendly when we met and asked what I had in mind. I also asked her the same out of curiosity lol... "as a hairstylist, what are you dying to do to my hair right now?" We came to an agreement (I wasn't feeling drastic this go around), but she did want to bring my hair back to a more healthy look. What I got: a haircut. She actually cut it twice, because the first time, she cut a few inches off, but I was being a little more daring and decided to cut another few inches off. I had so much hair! Due to my Asian heritage and the way Asian hair tends to behave, she suggested and asked that she reverse the process and cut my hair while it was dry, then wash and them blow dry. That was a great suggestion, because there weren't any surprises and it shows that she knows what she is doing! Result: The proof is in the pictures. I'll leave it at that. I must have lost a good 2 lbs just from the cut. It. feels. so. good. I ended up getting the leave-in conditioner that she used on my hair which was $47. A little steep, but it'll probably last me awhile. Things to note: - AVEDA products for sale only, unless AVEDA does not make a certain product. They have a mix of CBD products. - They are open late for working customers which I thought was very nice. I got an appointment at 7pm. - Stylist price varies according to education and experience. Kayla's haircut starts at $60 depending on texture and length, but my hair is in the middle, not thin and not that thick. I was charged $60, which I was so happy about because have you called around for haircuts these days? Kayla can take my money! - you can get $25 credit for referring new customers! The salon was pretty spacious too, and clean. Just a nice vibe. They don't play super loud music and play the chill vibe tunes, staying true to the word "spa" in their name. It's right next to Momo's Kitchen. They seem to cater to all ages too, because there were kids next to me getting their hair done also. I'm definitely a loyal customer of sleek now! Maria did my hair and spent so much time making me feel welcome and comfortable! She helped me figure out my hair more than anyone ever has, and offered suggestions that I didn't even know I wanted but knew I needed. I'm not one who gets highlights or anything more than a cut done to my hair, but Maria spent so much time adding dimension and style to it and I've never felt quite so pampered by a stylist before. Pricing is very reasonable in general at this salon. Before Maria becomes a master stylist (congrats to her!!) my bill is about $41 for wash/cut/style. One of the things I hate is having to have my hair done but I have to say since finding Sleek Salon and Spa my attitude has changed. I have very mixed feelings about this salon. The work that I've had done here has been awesome. I've seen the same stylist both times I've gone. She's very cautious with your hair health and bleaching, very conscious and methodical, 100% takes her time to be consistent and thorough. But the prices always confuse me. My most recent visit here was over $300. Not sure how their pricing is set up different to other salons. Maybe other salons include a certain number of product bowls per service, whereas this salon charges separately. Anytime I'm doing color on my hair, I always need extra bowls of product, with just how much hair I have. I have fine hair strands, but a lot of them. As I said, fantastic work coming out of this salon, just don't know how I feel about the pricing. read more

Do not come to this location. I had a horrible service and they used semi permanent even though I asked for permanent and for my blonde to be completely covered. The girl mixed semi permanent anyway and when I said that's not what I wanted she said it's already mixed anyway. Then I tried for weeks to call and talk to the manager. After a month the manager finally answered and immediately began cutting me off when trying to explain my experience and then said she was there to hear the whole thing and that she called me back. My phone history and Verizon proved otherwise. The my denied communicating to me in a professional manner and denied rectifying the situation in anyway. It's over priced and a complete waste of time. You're better off at a completely different salon and I would not endorse a company like this who has improper management and communication skills. read more

this would have been a 5 star rating, however, the stylist chairs are very very uncomfortable. other than that, the experience was wonderful. Kathryn (5 star) was my stylist and took great care to talk with me about what color and cut I wanted. she was very helpful and even got an IPad and we looked at pictures. thank you Kathryn for a great color and cut! This is my 3rd time coming to her and am so pleased I encouraged my daughter to do so too. she went yesterday and also had a great outcome. She too had an issue with the chairs. The salon is clean, bright and very well kept and sanitized. The owner is very active and extremely professional. My stylist was Kathrine and she is an absolute godsend! She made me feel comfortable and assured me that she would work her magic on my mop (my hair) with my requested cut and color. She exceeded my expectations to the point where I actually ended up crying tears of joy! I'm in my 40s and NO ONE has ever made my hair look as good as Kathrine has. I loved how she talked through each step in the process to convey what she was doing and why, especially with the products she was using. I'm a customer for life. I'm pleased with how my nails turned out. She did a wonderful job and was great at giving a massage. The salon is very clean and the people are very nice. I saw other reviews about there being gossip and what not. My response to that is - well it's a hair salon lol, what are women supposed to talk about lol. My only real critique is I didn't care for the pedicure station. I was expecting a pedicure chair with built in jets. It was a very comfortable reclining chair, but the pedicure machine was your everyday home spa, and my water didn't stay warm :/. I recently returned back to this salon after being out of state for a awhile and I'm glad to see that the salon's values have not changed. All the staff put a lot of effort in to making clients feel welcomed and comfortable during their visit. My hairstylist, Maria, has been a great fit for me. She is super nice and has great ideas for what to do with my crazy hair. My mom went to Sleek Salon & Spa for highlight and hair color to cover her gray hair. My mom was at the salon 15 mins earlier and the stylist was already there waiting for my mom. She didn't keep my mom waiting. My mom hardly speaks English but Marion makes her feel so comfortable. The color and the service is great. My mom highly recommends this salon for their exceptional service! And her hair smells so good and it doesn't smell chemical at all!! My mom's hair is so soft after the hair color. And is only 5 mins from our home and next to Walmart and lots of parking space. Very good location!! I will give it a try myself the next time. read more

I was really happy with my experience here. I move around quite a bit, and finding a new stylist is no fun On this day, I had an appointment with another stylist at another location who canceled on me. So, I decided to give Sleek Salon & Spa a call as they were one of few salons open on a Monday in my area. They got me in immediately and Sharday did a great job on my cut. She did a deep conditioning that I didn't feel really did anything (my hair was just as frizzy afterwards), but it was fairly inexpensive so I'll take the loss. After I went home and styled my hair myself, I felt like it needed a little tweaking (not due to the way it was cut, but simply for my preference on how I wanted it to lay) and the next day the squeezed me into a very busy schedule to touch it up for me! I have been getting hair cuts from Pam since they have started in Chesapeake, and I was always pleased with her. Last year, I started taking my child, and they did such a horrible job that he did not go to school for 2 days. The manager (Jessica) called other days, apologized, and offered free cuts. I was ok with it to pay if they give a good haircut. With a recent haircut, Jessica (manager) said we could not serve you anymore because we cannot satisfy your needs. I'm so surprised people would say to long-lasting customers we cannot serve you anymore. I have heard that they do very frequently with their customers, and Pam is planning to retire soon with her gone; I think their business will close quickly because they do not know how to take care of their customers and meet the customer expectation. Recommendation: Please do not use their services unless there are no other hair salons. If this happened to me, it could happen to anyone. read more

The owner herself is a talented hairdresser who handpicked her staff and did a fantastic job of it. I followed Brittany here. I've been going to Brittany for 6-7 years. Profession, skilled, attentive and very patient. I can be high maintenance. I know what I want but I don't always know how to get there and she helps me walk away every time feeling and looking fabulous. She's highly skilled with techniques and will also speak up when needed to guide me, to keep me from being too ambitious. I have had many different haircuts and changed my hair many different ways over the years. Her range is impressive. Brittany's coloring technique is also flawless. She really knows what she is doing with color and continues to develop her trade to deepen her knowledge and stay current. I can't recommend Brittany enough! Sleek Salon itself is a really nice place. It's a new, open-and-airy, modern style Aveda Salon with a multitalented crew. Love the products.
