Soo... here it's begins. I purchased two groupons online for a spa mani/pedi. I purchased one for a Shellac Manicure. On Monday I made an appointment for two of us to come in at 5:00 PM and one to come at 5:45 PM. The girl on the phone explained that they only had one technician, no biggie I don't mind spacing out our appointments. So I get an email the day of my appointment that my appointment switched from 5:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Strange. They proceed to call me and I answer when I finally get some downtime at work. She informs me that the 5:45 might be too late and can we all come earlier. So I agree to change the 5:00 appointment to 4:30 and the 5:45 to 5:15. I walk in for my appointment and the lady seems visibly overwhelmed. She proceeds to tell me that they just accepted a walk in and it will be hard to work with my three appointments. At this point I'm completely over dealing with the headache of changing my schedule, my moms schedule to just get here on time that I just expressed I would be leaving. Sadly I won't be able to even get my nails done before my event Saturday, as I work all day tomorrow. Save yourself a headache and book elsewhere. read more

I came in wanting PURPLE BAYALAGE to my hair, yes they told me that they were not able to give me my result in on sitting, I was perfectly ok with that cause for them obviously it was going to be a process. She told me she can get my hair to go as light as caramel, ok i was satisfy with that. What I was not satisfy about was that how I only got streaks of caramel.. She told me from the original picture I showed her was yes "that purple is balayage" if you look even at the picture from what I showed her, the original didn't have streaks of purple, her whole head was purple, then look at my results she basically did jack! I had a horrible guts about paying $270 plus a $15 tip, but despite my feelings, from my view at my hair in the salon, I had thought she had put more color into my hair, and that there aren't much lighting, I wasn't able to see much of the caramel; not only to come back home that night, I noticed I only received very little highlights that can be done easily at home. I came back that Thursday to discussed to the manager and the stylist about how much of the caramel color wasn't there, and how I expected it to me more Colored in my hair, and not still half black as I originally was. She told me I could come back at a later time, so she would be able to put more "highlights" in my hair , oh my goodness after a long and disagreeable hour and half, the manager came out and told me that they weren't going to highlights my hair anymore ( even though stupidly I even agreed to pay the price different ) which wasted my time, and energy coming back to this place. I then went to a different salon down oceanfront just three days later , this stylist WAS ABLE TO PUT IN A 50 DEVELOPER In my hair and got me to my purple in ONE SITTING. Price I paid $180 . AND YES THE INTEGRITY OF MY HAIR REMAIN VERY LITTLE DAMAGE, because why? I choose to do my research on olaplex, and trusted the brand and agreed to paid extra for something I thought aqua salon thought they know how to used. If you want to spend your hard earned money down the drain for services that can easily done at home, by all means Aqua salon fit every criteria. Noted I wasn't able to return the next business day because the manger told me that Justine doesn't work on Wednesday. Clearly I wanted to speak with her on the day that she worked. read more

VERY disappointed. Based off the good reviews on here, I thought I was in good hands. My technician did not stop talking to me about how much he hated his job, how they weren't that great at mani/pedi that they really were a hair saloon fyi he's telling me this while he is painting my nails! I paid my 70 dollars, feeling horrible since I knew it wasn't worth it!!!! even the guy doing my nails knew it wasn't worth it!!!!!! I don't know about you guys but my polish on my pedicure usually lasts about a month and a half. that's with going in the water, being at the beach, wearing shoes. I got my nails done here not even two weeks ago and my nail polish on my toes are already chipped, and I didn't even do any of those things. overall, the quality of polish they use, and the fact that I went to pamper myself but could not even relax due to staff leads me to give this review. I wish I lived in this area just to be a regular of Assya! She was absolutely amazing and patient with my brazilian! My hair is thick but made worse by shaving and Assya was so diligent in getting me amazing results! I purchased the numbing cream from the salon but I don't know how effective it was. Don't get me wrong, because of my shaving and thick hair, she tried to make it as painless as possible. But of course, there was pain. However, Assya told me stories that had me giggling through the process. She has made me a believer! Never, ever, EVER shaving again! Assya NEVER double dipped! She also used a combination of waxing strips with hard-wax around more sensitive areas. She tried to make the process as quick and painless as possible. When it came to tweezing for clean up, this woman has lightening fast hands! I thought I couldn't take it but that was actually the most easiest part! When I am in VA again, I will be seeing my brazilian doctor, Assya! Almost forgot to mention that I was a first time client and she made an exception to come in for me on her day off. The brazilian was apart of my wedding preparation. I had brazilian waxes before but NEVER like this! Those other brazilians I had were painful procedure that almost turned me away from waxing all together. Glad I gave it another try. I went here on a whim. I couldn't pull it up on Yelp but it was right next to a store I went to during a lunch break so I went in to give it a try. I only needed a manicure, so they took me right away. This shop is in an older strip mall so I was expecting the usual 15-18$ manicure. Well, it was 25$. That is a lot, anywhere, except maybe Hawaii. Besides it being crazy expensive, the manicure was actually good. It took longer than usual because they do NOT have nail dryers. I thought this was weird. The lady who did my nails put several drops/sprays on them to dry them. It looked very good but took a little long. Although it was a good manicure, I probably would not return because it's so far and so pricey. read more

Love my stylist at Aqua and have several friends who go to her. But the recent pedicure I had was terrible. The woman told me right off she wasn't a nail technician. The entire pedi took 25 minutes and she complained about her back and hip pain made worse by the chair she had to sit in the entire time. I have an abrasion on my heel from the scrubbing. I love it here! I'm Dominican and was looking for a Dominican salon. The owner is Dominican but this is more like a traditional spa and salon, and less like a Dominican salon where you go to get a blowout. I was a bit nervous about coming here because the photos on yelp and on their website don't reflect diversity. I am a brown girl with 3C curls, thick and coily. Can they work with my hair? The answer is yes! Laura gave me a full consultation before we got started. She asked me questions about what I expected and paid attention to my hair type and needs. Laura gave me an awesome haircut which demonstrates her skill at working with curly hair. When she dried my hair, she was very gentle. Never did she yank or pull, and she used medium heat which was all I needed. In the end my hair feels and looks nourished and healthy. It is straight without losing body. Overall, great customer service. They give you one on one attention here. They have the ability to make appointments via web and text. I personally appreciate their moderness. The salon is clean and contemporary. All products used are organic and/or vegan, so you're not putting chemicals in your hair. I've heard most salons don't use organic products because they aren't as effective as conventional products. That's just not true! My hair looks and feels good. Word experience ever! Denise did my pedi and was so impersonal and literally didn't even say a word or looked at me. Then after 5 hours my color smeared off and the owner actually told me that it takes a while to dry. 5 hours? I will not go back for nails because it is very slow for the manicure process and I felt like there are several areas of improvement needed (esp. for the price). I have written about other salons in the past, but after visiting Aqua Salon, I don't think I'm going to go anywhere else. I have very curly, unruly hair. Enedia was able to not only tame it, but make it healthier than it was when I walked in! The woman is a genius! She seems to instinctively know what each clients needs are. The salon is VERY clean and well appointed. Make sure to ask for their keratin conditioner...it does cost extra, but it will make your hair style last and last! So glad I found this salon. read more

I Needed a hair cut , dye and eyebrow wax.I have crazy curly hair so over the last 5-10 years I've had way more horrible haircuts then good ones ! I've paid some serious dough for crap cuts so I'm always a little scared when it comes time for a trim. I explained my fears to Dina also that I straighten my hair often so I would need my hair to look good straight but also be manageable curly . My hair came out absolutely perfect ! The color is beautiful ! She did a fabulous job the cut was exactly right, the color was just what I wanted and Dina took extra time to make sure everything was done just right . Top notch care you can tell they really care about the customer here! Also my eyebrow wax was done by Alaida she was wonderful as well ! I'm trying to reshape my eyebrows ( got a little to excited with the tweezers and made them thinner then I like ) before even getting started she explained what she would be doing and how to avoid the same mistake if I wanted to tweeze at home ( hell no I will be going back straight to her lol) also one of the best wax experiences virtually painless ! I have been going to Aqua Salon for over a year now. The manicures and pedi's are really good, a bit pricey, but the products used are excellent. I had my first brazilin wax by Assya, she is wonderful, I am now a regular customer for my waxing with her. I recommend her for nails, facials, waxing. No only will Assya take her time, and pay attention to detail, she will make you feel like your family. All of the girls are a lot of fun and the salon is probably the cleanest one I have visited in this area. You can tell the employees take pride in their salon. The stylist I had was very good at taking the time to do my pedicure and hair. However, she was a bit rough in buffing my calluses to the point of redness and tender to touch. Yes, she was very thorough, but to the point where I had a few layers of skin left. My nails do look great and been holding up quite well. My hair looks great too and is just what I wanted. The only downside is that when she was blow drying my hair, she held the dryer too close and too long to my scalp to the point where it burned and I had to pull my head away. I don't think she knew I was experiencing pain, but I let it slide. Overall, I thought my stylist was good and very nice, but just needed more experience. read more

I am from San Diego visiting here in VA Beach and I needed someone to take care of my salon needs while I was out here. I am very picky when it comes to who I get because I have particular eyebrow shaping needs that must be kept and I am picky about the CLEANLINESS of a place. It must be clean. I was taken care of Assya! Assya is one of the most amazing and efficient salon experts with her specialty in hair removal. I had my eyebrows done and she was very attentive to the shape of my face so that the eyebrows looked natural. I also had a mani/pedi done by her and I will have to say, I have NEVER had someone so attentive and friendly perform a spectacular mani/pedi! She took her time and made sure each nail was perfectly shaped and polished. She talked to me the whole time!!! We had a great discussion(which i loved) !! She even messed up one nail and redid it so it was perfect! She even has a heated fan to dry your nails faster than those salons that merely had clip-on fans awesome! As far as CLEANLINESS GOES, you cant get any better. Assya during the wax NEVER double dipped into her wax, always used clean instruments and never reused the cloths. Also, we women all know that for mani/pedis, the TUB MUST MUST be clean. Assya showed me how she cleans the tub, all while explaining that she understands exactly how impoartant a clean tub is. She placed the cleaner into a full tub and ran the jets for 20 MINUTES!!!! That is amazing! She says she does that after every single client. Also there is tearing on the pedicure chairs but that is ONLY from the disinfectant that she throughly cleans with every time!!! THIS IS SO AMAZING I COULD NOT GET OVER IT!!!! So if you are looking for a new person to do your mani/pedi, wax (in ALL AREAS, brazilian included) and want someone who is friendly and talkative and engages you GO SEE ASSYA!!! Assya is the best esthetician in the area! Having been living here for almost a year I have tried numerous places for waxing and never been satisfied. Assya takes time in perfecting her craft. You can tell she loves what she does. She's professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. One of the few places that also uses different types of wax. I will be a loyal customer from today on out. The only downside is that you have to reserve your place with a credit card that I've never had to do anywhere else even in bigger cities. I've been coming to aqua since I moved here last August and I refuse to go anywhere else for my Brazilian. Assya does an amazing job! She is quick yet thorough. She uses hard wax on more sensitive areas which makes the process less painful. My only complaint would be the prices however I do take advantage of their military discount but ultimately you get what you pay for which in my opinion is worth it! I have yet to try their other services but every time I come they are busy with clients so I can only assume they are doing something right. NO LIE! I will be a customer for life. It has improved my scars, pigment discolorations, texture, pore size, no acne, and I now have skin many compliment me on which I never had before in my life. I even use the color makeup/foundation made by Osmosis too. It kicks bareminerals to the way side and I was a die-hard bareminerals fan. Try it and see for yourself for any skeptics out there-I was shocked at how much I loved the Osmosis color makeup/foundations. Very disappointed :(. Checked yelp to find a hair salon. We moved here in DEC and haven't found one. I called aqua and told the receptionist what we were looking for, a stylist that we could continue to use going forward. My daughter wanted a cut, full color and highlight. I told her that I would schedule myself at a later date. She made an appt for sat 11:30. We got there at 11:15 and left at 5!! When we checked in I told her that if she had anyone avail I would go ahead and get a haircut, she told me that the same guy doing my daughter could cut my hair during her processing. We get back there and talk before we get started. He said NOTHING to me about price (red flag) He started my daughters hair and there were red flags right away. He washed her hair first and then started coloring, other hair stylists walked by and commented "your not supposed to color wet hair" his reply "it will be fine" (red flag). Then he started telling us how he is moving to another state in one week( so much for establishing a stylist which I SPECIFICALLY said I wanted on the phone). As he's coloring I notice there is no protection being used on my daughters head and she's getting very messy (red flag). Don't ask me why I didn't speak up, because I usually do. This entire process took FOREVER! Once he gets her under the dryer he starts my haircut, he cuts and blow drys my hair (it did turn out nice). During this the timer went off for my daughter and the receptionist asked him if he needed help. He said "no, I'm fine" ( red flag). He checked her, turned the dryer off, reset the timer and told her to continue waiting (red flag). Finally when he starts washing her hair he is commenting that the blonde isn't right (red flag). At this point my daughters forehead, nose and ears are stained red (red flag). He went back twice to get "toner" for her hair (red flag). This process took FOREVER! Finally he starts cutting and blow drying. You would think that a stylist would HAVE to blow dry and style after a color, highlight and cut to make sure it's right....I had NO IDEA that I was paying out my ears for EVERY LITTLE THING. When all said and done my daughters hair was very pretty and she loved it (5.5 hrs later). So we go up front to pay.....RED FLAG.....the stylist and receptionist are talking to each other about all the CHARGES....I hear "cut, blow dry and style for mom"....had I known I would pay for blow dry and style I would have said "leave it wet"! Then I hear "full color, full highlight, cut, blow dry, style and toner for daughter" RED FLAG.....why am I paying for toner ($30 BTW) for a color that HE messed up? And blow dry and style? If he didn't blow dry and style how would he know if it turned out good?? Are you ready, ......"mom your total is $300" OMG. I paid, no question asked AND I gave him a $50 tip! Thinking to myself "never again". I would have left this all alone if what's next didn't happen........RED FLAG........we get home and within hours my daughter is complaining that her ear hurts.....red flag.....by Sunday morning her ear is covered in blisters and green puss......CHEMICAL BURN. Took her to ER and they gave us antibiotic ointment to use. I WILL be calling the owner Tuesday when they open again! Last thing for the record.....the staff was VERY NICE! The salon was very clean. The stylist we had was the issue and the price was OUT OF CONTROL. I know that the owner reads these comments and I am hopeful she will do what is right here. My daughter is 15 and this is the first time she ever had highlights. Now she has to go to school with bandages on her ear :( I'm so upset!! read more

I rarely write negative reviews, but the so-called manager of Aqua Nail Salon was very unsympathetic and unwilling to work with me. I had bought a Groupon for $40 and made an appointment, but that morning of the appointment my brother was in a serious car accident. Not knowing how serious it was I called to cancel my 11 o'clock appointment, she then encouraged me to fill the 3:30 slot just in case I could make it, which I did. I called her at three and said I did not know the severity of the circumstances with my brother when I initially called and I would need to cancel, and she said I could call back Tuesday to reschedule. When I called back to reschedule, she said they had already redeemed my Groupon sorry. I understand policy and I understand cancellation policies, but considering the circumstances and the fact that you already redeemed the Groupon on that very day and did not inform me that you would be doing so is very unprofessional in my opinion. I will never do business there regardless of all of the so-called wonderful reviews, which half I think are fictitious, but I'm sure the lack of me not being there is going to hurt their business. I just hope other consumers think about what type of people they want to deal with; unsympathetic or caring, which she's not in the least.
