Ok so I had an open mind. This place is a total dump but I thought hey if the vet is good no problem. First we walked into the room where a man was standing. He did not introduce himself. I figured out in time he was the vet. I had to bring up all the preventative things. His answers were short and impatient. Anyways we got shots. One thing I didn't like was him sticking a thing up my dogs butt without asking first. I get it. Things need to be done. But in talking with family I could have just collected a sample. Been going to this business almost 12 years now not only was the prices risen for nail cuttings from $10 to $20 last appointment we had here my girls just needed new heart worm shots. Which they knew exactly the one I needed since the week before make the appointment a week ahead and I show up almost 45 minutes early to the appointment. Which reception stated they went out to get the medicine they had none in stock in office mind u I went 45 mins earlier they didn't even call us into the office until almost an hour later. I've been doing business at Evangeline Veterinary Clinic for 4 decades starting in 1978 when I had 3 Labrador Retreivers and in subsequent years half a dozen various dogs rescued off the street. Dr. Lambert was always kind, caring, and gracious. He would try and work with you on the services rendered and the charges on the bill. He wasn't in it for the money-he was in it to help dogs and help people. Since Dr. Lambert's passing this place has gone steeply downhill. The white male vet I saw in there today got triggered when I questioned his "policy" and told him he was trying to inflate the bill. Obviously, I was directly over the target b/c in under 3 seconds he went from what I assumed was a normal human being to an un-hinged, short-fused, aggressive, sociopathic, lunatic. His reaction reminded me of those weight-lifters afflicted with roids-rabies from steroid injections. What happened is that I was bringing my dog in for a 6-month preventative heart worm shot. She had already been diagnosed with an exam and heartworm test done a month earlier (Feb. 19th) at a different vet across town (b/c they were open on Sunday). I had another dog needing services as well, which were supposed to cost me around $155.00 for that dog according to the desk lady/receptionist (Lambert's widow I think). We knew this b/c my wife had called the receptionist a week ago to set-up the appointments and get a quote. She explained to the desk lady what had already been done, diagnosed, and the recommended treatment per the previous vet, and what services we needed and wanted done now. The desk lady set up the appointments and acted like she understood the circumstances and gave my wife a projection of our cost. She even had the vet's male assistant come on the phone so he would be in the loop on the communication and he conferred with the vet while talking to my wife so everyone would concur. At no time did any one of them indicate that the previous vet appointment across town would be treated as though it were null and void. So I showed up on time (10:50 for an 11:00 appointment) and let them know I was there with my two dogs and I was asked to wait in my truck while they finished up with the two customers ahead of me (one was in the exam room and one was sitting in the parking lot). I said sure no problem. I waited in my truck for 20 minutes or so when the vet's male assistant came out to tell me that I would have to pay for another exam and heartworm test. I was aggravated at this point, and hesitated to go in, and thought about leaving, but instead I had my wife send me a copy of the invoice via cell phone showing the previous vets exam and heartworm test so I could prove it. In the meantime the vet's assistant invited the next customer to jump in ahead of me. Eventually, I got my turn to go inside without my dogs b/c I wanted to have the vet explain to me why he wouldn't honor the other vet's work although I already knew it was just about getting more money out of my wallet. It's a game. I wanted a logical explanation from the horse's mouth, but he wouldn't provide one other than saying "it's policy". But why? Before he would give my dog the preventative heartworm shot he insisted that it have another exam done for $65.00 and another heartworm test for $26 which would have added another $91.00 to the bill. Like most people, I'm not looking to toss money into the wind. The exam is a joke-they listen to the dogs heart, take it's temperature, and give it a visual inspection and then charge you $65.00. When I questioned his "policy" and why he wouldn't honor the previous vets diagnostics he snarkily said that "he wasn't gonna argue with me" and that "if I didn't like it I can go somewhere else". My time that I had already spent there waiting was of no concern to him. I wasn't looking to argue either, but I wanted a square deal and my dogs taken care of. I just wanted to hear what his excuse was behind his "policy" bc I already knew it was about padding the invoice. I told him "it seems like you're just trying to jack up the bill". He immediately went to the "F-you and get the F out of my clinic!" I couldn't believe he had gone there after I had been giving that place business for 45 years. Never again. I told him F-you as well and he came around the table like he was going to attack me and telling me to "get the F out of his clinic and don't come back" and I said "don't worry I'll never spend a dime here again". He stopped himself before he put hands on me, just in the nick of time, bc I was about to flip the switch, despite the fact that no one was there to corroborate my side of the story. I was about to mess him up, but I had no witnesses to back me up, and he had two, so I did the wise thing and left. He wasn't worth going to jail over. People don't like it when you call bs on their motives or question their authority. They just want you to be obedient, bend over, comply. Not me never. I'm a wild animal, wild af. read more

Unfortunately, this vet clinic is not the same since Dr. Lambert is no longer there. I brought my dog for an appointment and I was highly disappointed. They do not allow you to go in the back while your animal is being examined. I saw thru the door that they picked up my 50lb dog by his neck and leash to get him on the exam table. The vet, Dr. Isralson was extremely unprofessional, seemed impaired, and gave very little explanation on what was done with my dog nor did she give me the opportunity to express my concerns regarding my dog. My dog was only examined for a max of 5 minutes. I will never be returning to this veterinary clinic. I highly suggest you take your pets to another clinic if you want professional care with your pets. read more

Doc Lambert saved my Great Dane with parvo in 2005, he pumped him full of fluids for 4 days and even cane to work on Sunday just to do that. He's the most caring vet I've met and I'll go nowhere else!!! read more

Evangeline veterinary clinic is terrific! Dr. Lambert and the staff stay incredibly busy and every time I've brought a pet to them there are always folks there that are regular and repeat customers. I am a regular customer. Dr. Lambert spends the time to explain to you what is going on with your pet and when you're in the exam room the focus is on the well being of your pet! You can feel the sincerity in the room! Like I said, I'm a repeat customer that's brought in several pets and will continue to do so. Dr. Lambert was our dog's veterinarian for many years. I love Dr. Lambert, he is very kind and compassionate and his prices are reasonable. He came to our house on a weekend when our dog got hit by a truck and didn't even charge us extra. The only complaint I ever had was there is no appointments available - it is drop in only - and there was times I waited quite long - which I was willing to do because I loved Dr. Lambert and I didn't work and had time. I now have a job and can't just sit and wait - my boss really wouldn't understand that. I really miss going to this vet and wished they would offer appointments. read more

Older Time Badassery Meets Practicality! This clinic is ran by an older gentleman and a small staff who all cling to the days of old where virtue and morality were soup of the day. Any animal coming through their door will receive excellent care and care with compassion that has been lost in today's world. They love people and they love animals! They love people who take care of their animals. They also have a keen eye for people who abuse animals. So, if you and your adored pet need to love their doctor, give Dr. Lambert a call. You'll never think about using another clinic. You'll also beg him not to retire! read more

I felt inclined to post a review for Dr Lambert and his amazing staff bc of the other review that was so awful. This is a country vet's office, he truly cares, he is not in the business for the money, his office is a small old wood frame house that can get overcrowded very easily bc he is so AWESOME that you will sit for hours for an appointment. He is very knowledgable and likes to explain everything in detail. I trust him with ALL of my fur babies and even if he knows he isn't able to do a procedure, or it's not his expertise, he will refer you to someone that is. Yes the staff can get overwhelmed, but it's busy ALL the time...do you think he would be an awful vet and be this busy?!!! Love these ppl! read more

Beware. The staff is not friendly. The facilities seem poorly maintained. I went on recommendation of family. The price seemed reasonable at first. I took 2 dogs. My services included vaccinations and 3 trips for toenails growing wrong way. Fast forward- one dog was not doing good and inches from death. I could tell she was suffering and it concerned me deeply so I brought her in. The doctor claimed he could save her though my doubts were near impossible. It was near closing time so he said he would "pump her with fluids and opiates to see if he could save her" at no charge. Valiant effort, however, he refuses to see that she was minutes from death. He called 3 hours later saying the "dog passed away". Next, I got a bill for $130 for disposal. His office staff charged me for euthanization and disposal. I called to try to straighten it out and get a fair price for disposal only because the doctor stated "passed away" neglecting to tell me he put her down. I was more than willing to pay the 50$ for disposal, however, when I called, the secretary was not helpful at all and, as usual, seemed completely lost. She put him on the phone 5 minutes later and he immediately went into tirade mode accusing me of "calling him a thief" then hung up on me. I called back because I didn't want a 130$ vet bill dinging my credit. I asked for an updated bill reflecting a lower price I could pay. The secretary put him on the phone again and he said "don't worry about it! Don't ever come back here again!" So, my dog dies, I want to pay a fair price and he treats me like manure. Stay away from this place. Update: 8-25-14/ I am still receiving a bill for full amount. I will most likely pay it to avoid any further confrontation. read more

We have been using this vet for over 50 years. The former receptionist was a bit rough around the edges but I love this staff like they were part of my family. Doc is a wonderful vet. His place isn't fancy due to the fact he is so giving and focused on your pet. This man saved my 2 puppies who had parvo 7 years ago. Him and his staff worked there butts off and it paid off. There alive and wonderful. I trust this man completely with the care of my animals. I know he will do everything in his power to save them. I also know that when he says there is nothing more he can do, it's the truth. If you want people who truly care about your pet, these people do. read more

We've been using this clinic for 24 yrs. I've never had a problem with the staff. Dr. Lambert has always treated my fur babys for everything from my female shihtzu having pups. And we'd always bring them in as soon as he opened. And he gave awesome care to them.and when my blue heeler was diagnosed with a heart problem he treated him for 3 yrs with b12, iron & heart Meds. When we had to finally say farewell his whole staff was so supportive. Cause my petey boy was spoiled rotten. That's been 2-3 yrs now. We still miss him. & now he sees about my german Shepard in the mix. He's a great dr. Who loves animals. He may be slow but he diffinatly knows his stuff.
