As a new customer I made an appointment to have an initial check up, got there on the day of my appointment and checked in, couple minutes later a different receptionist asked if I've been helped and I replied yes I was checked in. Then was asked my name, then told, " your phone isn't working!" I said excuse me yes it is. Receptionist said well I tried calling to tell you your appointment has been moved cause they were falling behind. I asked what number they had and it was wrong. So rescheduled for 2 weeks out, again checked in and was told I'd need to wait cause they were behind. I mean no sorry for the first rude comment the first time and now no apology this second time around. I didn't need an apology but the professionalism wasn't there. I mean the insinuation that this was my fault felt very disrespectful. If not for the amazing Doctor and hygienist I wouldn't come back, but they were great. The establishment itself is very clean and Dr. Garza is awesome.

She drove over 30 miles from New Braunfels for a confirmed visit. Insurance is billed based on the date services are rendered, not on coverage status applied retroactively at check-in. The explanation offered makes little sense. Coverage ending that day does not prevent a provider from seeing a patient, nor should it invalidate a scheduled appointment. As an in-network provider, refusing covered services at check-in and tying care to coverage timing rather than date of service raises serious concerns about insurance billing irregularities and eligibility misrepresentation, or at minimum a fundamental misunderstanding of standard insurance billing practices. Compounding the issue, the phone number listed does not reach the office. Calls are routed to an outsourced scheduling call center that is disconnected from the actual front desk and billing staff, leaving no escalation path and no way to reach anyone with authority to resolve the issue. This lack of accountability is especially problematic for a patient with limited English proficiency. When basic principles of insurance billing appear to be ignored, experiences like this suggest one of three things: gross incompetence, a willingness to mislead patients, or potentially improper insurance billing practices. None of those inspire confidence in a medical provider, and prospective patients should be aware of how this practice handles scheduled care.

They call you at least once within the week of to remind you of your scheduled appointment, as well as sending you a reminder weeks prior in the mail. The office is very clean, and in a great location 1604/Sonterra/281. Dr. Nistar is very kind and takes her time with every patient. During my last visit I had to get two fillings. I didn't experience pain (with the local or the procedure) and she talked me through the entire process. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Dr. Nistar combines thorough technical knowledge and professionalism with a welcoming, friendly manner that could set even the most nervous patient at ease. Moreover, she works with the finest precision that I have ever experienced. I have been to other dentists who installed fillings in a hurry and caused some misalignment with my bite; Dr. Nistar, on the other hand, took the time to make everything perfect. (Also, everyone who has had dental work knows that the delivery of the anaesthetic shots is the scariest/most painful part of the procedure, but Dr. Nistar has such a deft hand that I barely noticed them when they were being administered.) Dr. Nistar's staff members are also top-notch. Their friendly, comforting chairside manner is clearly not the result of artificial training, but a natural fitness for patient care. The schedule is superbly well-organized, and I have never been left waiting there; they provide detailed, individualized, genuinely sympathetic dental care, while simultaneously maintaining an industrious and efficient professional ethic which ensures that all patients feel that their time is valued. I had avoided going to the dentist for nearly a decade, and so I felt no small amount of trepidation when I finally scheduled an appointment, but I quickly realized that a great dental visit can be not just painless, but even enjoyable. I live nearly thirty minutes away, and there are countless dentists between my home and her office, but after experiencing such a high level of care, I would not even consider going anywhere else.

Shortly after, at future cleaning there, I was told I not…read moreonly had another cavity BUT gum disease that needed regular treatments of having some antibiotic capsule shoved up my gums. I was shocked because I never was told anything about having gum disease before from other dentists--it didn't make sense how I went from normal gums to 'gum disease' all of a sudden. After that appointment-- in a panic--I contacted a very close friend whose husband was a dentist and she was a dental hygienist. I sent her X-rays and she was confident--not only from the X-rays, but also from knowing me well--that I did not have gum disease. I then went to my husband's dentist for a consult and his dentist also said I do not have gum disease. I asked him about the cavity and he said it was not a cavity, just staining in a groove on my molar. (I guess it's safe to assume 'my first-ever cavity' was not a cavity either.) It was really shocking this happened by a licensed dentist. When i cancelled my next appointment, I expressed my disapproval of being told I needed treatment that I didn't, the lady on the phone seemed to not be surprised.

Yes, the FLOSS team runs a beautiful, state of the art office that is immaculately clean and comfortable. But what really keeps me coming back are the careful, attentive exams and gentle, through treatment I receive here. Every hygienist I have seen has gotten my teeth perfectly smooth and sparkly, and given me pointers on continually improving my at-home routine (without being judge-y or peachy). I particularly appreciate Dr. Forney's conservative, preventative approach to dental care--she is the most through, engaged dentist I have ever visited when conducting the check-up exam. She not only spends time carefully examining every nook and cranny of your mouth and (gently) checking for sensitivity, she also asks thoughtful questions and really listens to my answers. She seems to always be working proactively to spot potential issues and prevent them, before they become a big problem requiring painful or expensive treatment. For example, I was experiencing some painless popping in my jaw when opening my mouth wide (like when chewing with my mouth very full). I almost didn't mention it because it wasn't causing me any discomfort, but when I said something in passing to Dr. Forney, she immediately recognized that I had worn away a lot of the cartilage in my jaw from grinding my teeth at night. She told me to start wearing my old night guard, which I had gotten lazy about, and this would allow the cartilage to regenerate. Sure enough--six months with the night guard--no more poppin! During another visit, Dr. Forney noticed what looked like a coffee stain on a previous sealant from another dentist, but asked if she could take a closer look by doing a little bit of drilling. I was skeptical, but I trust her, so I said "break out the drill!" Well, turns out that there was decay forming under the sealant from the previous dentist. Dr. Forney was able to do a small filling and nip this in the bud, just by spending a little extra time on the exam (and not assuming it was just a coffee stain). The idea that this could have become a big filling or worse keeps me coming back to Dr. Forney--and trusting her implicitly--every time. In short, Dr. Forney is a highly skilled, meticulous and incredibly through dentist, and the entire experience at Floss Stone Oak stands alone among general dentistry in San Antonio (I've moved to Austin and I still drive down just to come here!). They take insurance, but as someone who has at times had a HDHP and paid out of pocket, I can say it's also very reasonably priced, especially given the high standard of care. If you're still reading this, make an appointment already! Floss Stone Oak and Dr. Forney are the best!
