The AC wasn't cooling in one of my rental properties. It was Mother's Day Weekend. I left Steve a message on his cell. Ryan called back. He spoke to the tenant and figured out the problem. He said he would go out immediately even though it was Mother's Day. By 9:30 am it was fixed with a new thermostat installed. Iv'e used Steve for my rentals for at least 18 years and I wouldn't hire anyone else. I need someone honest who charges very fair prices. I live hours away from the properties so it's nice to be able to call or text and have a job get done, so I don't have to worry. read more

Ok, I needed my AC repaired so like any good Yelper, I checked yelp first to save me headaches down the road. Boy I am glad I did. I called because my AC was cutting in and out and it was in the middle of our recent heat wave of coarse. I was told the soonest they could get to me was in two days. That was fine because I am sure everyone else and their brother was also calling for service. They get star 1 for being upfront, honest and polite when I called. Star 2 they called the day before to confirm the appointment and gave me a better window as to when the serviceman would arrive. Star 3 Serviceman called us when he was leaving his prior job told us he was 25 mins out. He arrived 20 mins later. Hurray! Star 4 Serviceman was polite, clean and listen to our issue. Got right to work on it. Was at the house about 45 mins and had the issue corrected. Was very happy at how much cost. Star 5 After the serviceman left I didn't think something was right so I called and they connected me with Steve. He answered the questions and took care of my concern right on the phone.... When you have your AC repaired you need to be able to trust those working on it. I have to say I trust Evans Heating and AC and will call them again. Still waiting on a refund for the cost of the t stat that was never used and an extra hour Ryan accidentally charged me for the initial visit. Overall Evans Heating and Air was friendly helpful and willing to go the extra mile. I will definitely recommend them to the neighbors friends and family. All said and done all my parts were covered under warranty. Day 1: Made an appt 2 days ago and had to wait 2 days but this is the busiest time of the year. Evans heating and air had great reviews so I gave them a chance. Ryan called on the day of the appointment to get me in a few hours earlier. Ryan was at the house for a little less than hour. He said my my specialty thermostat was bad and my ac won't run without buying another expensive thermostat or bypassing it somehow and buying a less expensive unit. He had a t stat with him and only charged me $57, a little more than the online price including shipping and tax. Overall, he charged $195 for the thermostat and total labor time to get my ac running again. I'm not sure where you got the $195 when you was about one hour which is the $85 and charging $57 for the thermostat which come up to $142. I'll talk to him before the final bill. About 15 minutes after he left my AC turned off . He was already on the way to another appointment but when said he will be back at 0800 to reassess the issue. Sure hope he can fix it quick and permanently. I'm tired of no AC. Hopefully AC will be fixed tomorrow. Day 2: The next day Ryan was at the house at 8 as told. He called Amana tech support and was able to get a replacement T stat. Came back later that morning to try the new t stat. The ac was still not working. Called Amana again and they are now sending a new circuit board overnight. Glad that this is all under warranty and part of the original cost from 2 days again. Hopefully AC will be fixed tomorrow. Day 3: Luckily my AC unit is under warranty and waiting on a part from the manufacturer. Was told that it will be delivered overnight last night. It's 5:30 pm the next day and still no word from Evans Heating and Air. Hopefully AC will be fixed tomorrow. Day 4: Saturday. No call. No show. Hopefully AC will be fixed tomorrow. Day 5: Sunday. No call. No show. Hopefully AC will be fixed tomorrow. Day 6: Monday. Parts is in and waiting for him to come back to install warrantied part. Hopefully AC will be fixed tomorrow Day 7: Tuesday. Was told that Ryan will be here today to fix my ac. Got the ac working for about 20 minutes after he left. He'll be back tomorrow. Day 8: Evan and Ryan are back at the house. The culprit was a fault capacitor. It quick and easy fix. Overall Evans Heating and Air was friendly helpful and willing to go the extra mile. I had a fan and a capacitor replaced by Steve for about $327. The best deal after 10 other calls and one other on-site visit. As result no more loud noise when the condensor came on. It used to make a loud grinding sound. Steve was also kind enough to come by for an estimate without charge. Most people understandably will charge for that. If he clean the leaves around the condensor it would have been perfect. Sorry Steve I am a bit OCD. Nevertheless, Steve is a pleasant gentleman and great to deal with. I will never take my AC for granted again. After waiting on various 'friends' who work in the AC industry to help repair my burnt fan motor, my boyfriend and I bought the recommended parts and tried to do it ourselves but the damn thing still wasn't working. Add in 3 weeks of record heat and humidity and I was at my wits end. Enter in Al from Evans Heating and Air!! I had called them twice, once to check prices but I was tricked into waiting on another 'friend' to come through, and the second time to hire them. They came the same day! After checking out my unit on a particularly hot and humid day, he got us running in about 2 hours fixing the wiring and how the fan was set (one 'friends' failed attempt to help) with no new parts, AND I got the $10 off for finding them on Yelp! For the first time all summer, I could fall asleep in a comfortably cool house before 1am, and no more bug bites from sleeping with the window open. Who could ask for more? Like so many, you only call for service in a panic during a heatwave. So late yesterday my son called us to say the AC went out and replacing the fuses didn't fix the problem. It was just before 5 pm and I turned to yelp! It just so happened both my hubby and I were out of town and explained that and they said we could pay over the phone. We really prefer to use and support local business and we found Evans Heating and Air. After reading great reviews I called, they picked up right away, scheduled an appt for today and provided a 3 hour window. So today we were extremely (and pleasantly) surprised when the repair man called saying he was ahead of schedule was on his way (almost a couple hrs earlier than scheduled). Ryan was professional and courteous quickly assessed the situation, called us to let us know what was wrong and the price. Once it was all fixed, our son called to let us know when it was back up and running and he even mentioned how professional the serviceman was. We will definitely call Evans again but to schedule a maintenance visit so we can avoid surprises like this! They provided great service and pricing! read more

I wish I could give this company more than 5 stars - this is THE BEST air conditioning company I have ever dealt with! Last summer our AC was making strange noises, so in the winter we got bids to replace it. We not only needed a new unit, we wanted it moved to the side of the house in a less conspicuous place. Evans gave us a competitive bid, did not try to oversell us, showed up on time, did the work leaving no mess, no drama. After a few days the unit was making a noise upon start up, I called and they showed up the same day to check it out... just a vibration and easy fix, no charge. Six months later during a heat wave the blower motor in the heater starts making noise and dies. I called their office at 9:45 PM just to leave a message to get our job in their work queue since I knew they'd be busy on account of the heat wave. I learned they have after hours service and I was put directly on the line with Steve. They had a job in our area the very next morning and Al was at the house by 9:30 AM and made the repair. I realize I got lucky with the scheduling, but once again they did what they said they would do at a good price! I have never done a Yelp review before, but I signed up especially so I could let the world know about Evans - these guys are straight shooters and I highly, highly recommend them... My air conditioner quit on me just as we were heading into a few 100+ degree days. I called Steve of Evans Heating and Air the next morning and he came over early in the afternoon at the promised time. He quickly found the problem, repaired it, and my air conditioner is working better than before it failed. Steve is professional and takes care in how he does his work. He is also a very nice guy and let me pick his brain and gave me advice about all aspects of operating and maintaining my air conditioner. I had someone come over to fix my ac unit. It wasn't blowing out cool air. Everything was fast and on time. It turned out the fuses had burned out. However 3 days later after the fuses were replaced the ac broke down again. I then realized that they had put in wrong fuses (45Amp instead of 60Amp that was indicated for my ac unit) and that was the reason the fuses burned out again. I went to Lowes and got new fuses myself and the ac is working again now. I guess I paid $165 and still have to fix it myself after all read more

91 degrees and humid on August 1st and my A/C goes out. I found Evans on Yelp and they had good reviews to start with, so I gave them a call. The initially promised a time between 2:00 and 4:00, but later called to say they could make it earlier. They showed up within the proposed new time window and found the problem right away. While I was fearing thousands for a new unit, it was only a capacitor, which ran $255.00 total. They were fast, friendly, efficient & now I'm staying cool again. The thermostat display went blank and after a couple hours of my fiance trying to fix it without success, we gave him a call. He determined the problem was a blown fuse within a short period of time. Our air conditioner was blowing air, but so poorly it was barely cooling our house. Within a few hours of calling Evan's Heating and Air, two repairmen came out to my house. They refilled refrigerant and replaced valve caps. My air conditioner is fixed and all for a reasonable price! The ignitor in my water heator was not working and I called Evan's, though they don't usually work on water heaters but was able to fix the issue. And when the water heater acted up again the next day, they were great at being able to stop by late at night to fix the issue once and for all! This is the first time for me to write any online review, but after dealing with Evans Heating and Air, I feel compelled to comment on their service. What happened was the I booked a tune-up with a local HVAC chain first. They found a problem with my furnace and recommended replacement. Since their price was high, I wanted a second opinion. I searched online and found Evans Heating and Air. To be honest, I did not quite believe all the good reviews here. Since they are quite close my house, I decided to give them a call and made an appointment. Steve showed up and gave me a very detailed analysis of options. Later, he even found a way to cut the cost by configure the equipments so that I will be eligible for the rebate. He even got me a certificate from the HVAC institute for that. I am truly impressed by he professionalism and his devotion to his patrons. The installation also went smoothly. Ryan pays great attention to details and wants to make sure that everything is perfect. He said he has the highest standard for his work and he is proud of that. I can attest to it, since on the second day when he was finishing up the work, he even fix a gap on my dry wall which I don't think is part of his job description. I am really impressed. Both Steve and Ryan are fun to chat with. I have a lot of questions, and they always answer them patiently. I did learn a lot about HVAC in the process. The bottom line is: they are really "AS GOOD AS IT GETS". I have saved tons of money. Too bad that I don't have something else in my house that they can fix, sigh..... ps. I would not hire this company to do an install. They do not know what their doing.I hired Evans heating and air to install a whole new heating and air system and duct work,after reading good reviews on them here on Yelp. They agreed to do the work over the weekend which was nice, but it was all down hill from there. They estimated the job to take three days. Max. I wanted a maytag system and they normally install York, but they assured me that they could install anything I wanted, so they got me what I wanted and showed up on time on a Friday that I had to take off work and started the job, they got it done in the three days, and they ran it for a while and it seemed fine, but then after they left I set it for a temperature and it kept short cycling on the heat side and making loud howling noise that didn't seem normal to me, so I called Steve the owner and he sent his son and helper back out on Monday when I got home from work. To try and make a very long story shorter, they had done almost everything wrong from mounting the furnace to low in the attic so it didn't have proper condensation drainage to not a long enough or big enough return air duct to not installing a j trap drain on the furnace, and not insulating a lot of the metal parts on the duct work. They were in and out of my attic for three weeks trying to get working properly and finally getting the reps from the supplier out here only to agree with them that the loud howling sound and short cycling was normal. Unbelievable, so expressing my dissatisfaction with Steve and loosing complete confidence in their ability to do anything right I got them to knock some of the remaining balance I owed them and just be done with them. I ended up having to call another company to come out and basically raise up the system and move it over so it had better drainage and add a bigger and longer return air duct and add elbows to all of my cans where the air comes out. That cost me another $800 dollars. But now it is nice and quiet and working like it should. I give them one star for at least trying to do the job on the weekend so I wouldn't have miss work. I think if they had a shred of dignity Steve would call me and give back the other $400 that it cost me obove what it should have. read more

Our AC went out on a Sunday afternoon, and we called Evans first thing Monday morning. We were told the earliest they could be out was Wednesday between 12 and 2. We understand that this is a very busy time of year for them, so we were okay waiting until Wednesday. However, by 2:30 on Wednesday the tech had still not shown, and we had not received any phone call from them. As I was attempting to reach their office, my husband received a phone call from the tech, Ryan, who stated he had just completed an installation, and he was on his way. The tech finally arrived just before 3. After about 10 minutes, the tech advised that our blower motor was broken, and it would need to be replaced. This confirmed what my husband had already suspected. The tech stated it would be $500 to replace, and he would need to order the part. He advised he would return to install the motor the following day (Thursday) between 3 and 5. The following day, I waited for the arrival of the tech, Ryan, between the agreed hours of 3 and 5. He NEVER showed! At 5:30, we attempted to call the tech on his cell phone, but the call went to voice mail. By 6:30, we realized our appointment had been blown off completely. We never did receive a call from Evans. On Friday, the day after our missed installation, my husband waited until 9:45 am for a call from Evans with an explanation as to why they never showed up. After receiving no call, he called them directly. A woman answered their phone, and my husband stated that he was calling about a missed appointment from the day before. She immediately knew my husband's name. She placed him on hold, and when she returned to the line she apologized for the no show, but she offered absolutely no explanation as to why they never showed up or why they never called. At that point, my husband advised we would no longer be requiring their services. Within a minute of ending the call, he received an incoming call from their number, but he did not answer the call and no voice mail was left. Needless to say, this was one of the very worst customer service experiences we have ever had! Evans is apparently unable to honor their time commitments, and they also do not feel it is necessary to call a customer when they are unable to keep their commitments. It is now one week since our AC has gone out, and it has been between 95 and 100 degrees each day. I am currently pregnant, and I have a 14 year old, a 2 year old, and a 1 year old living in miserably hot conditions. We chose Evans based upon their extremely high Yelp reviews, but we were extremely disappointed and would not recommend this company to anyone!! read more

The air flow in my house was ok, but it was not cooling my house. Last Tuesday (7-2-13) I went on Yelp and found Evans Heating & Air. The reviews were good so I called and they were able to set me up with an appointment later that week. I was so gratefuI for that because I was a having a huge party at my house and did not want my guests roasting in this Riverside heat. Ryan cleaned the evaporation coils and fixed the problem. He was very honest and his price was reasonable. The air flow was much stronger! After Ryan left we ran our AC for a couple of hours, but the house was still not cooling. I called Ryan and told him the situation. He said he was actually heading back to my area and would stop by to check it out. When he came back he checked the freon level and it was extremely high, due to a past technician from a different company that worked on my AC last year. He set it to the correct level and didn't even charge me anything. Our AC is back on track and working wonderfully. The next day he even called just for a follow up. Wow! This was the first time a technician/contractor has called to see how things were going. I would definitely recommend Evans Heating & Air!! read more

My A/C was acting funny so I called this place based on Yelp reviews, spoke with Ryan, and scheduled an appointment for 8am for the FOLLOWING week. 1 week later, 8am came and went and no visit or phone call. Now of course I could have called them to find out what was up but really? I'm the friggin' customer!!! I shouldn't have to call them to ask them what's going on. That's great that they do a decent job of getting your A/C repaired but it doesn't mean a whole lot to me if they don't bother to show or worse, don't care enough about their customers nor have the decency to pick up the damn phone to call and say, "Hey sorry, we're running a bit late." I get it, stuff happens and I would have adjusted the appt. time had they just communicated with me...just shows how little they cared. Anyway, HVAC repair are a dime a dozen so I'll find another place to spend my cold hard cash on. I will definitely NOT be recommending this company to anyone. read more

We recently installed central heating and air conditioning in our house in Riverside, and struggled with the decision of who to hire. We had many quotes, with quite a large range in prices. We finally decided on Evans Heating and Air, not because they were the cheapest but because Steve Evans, the owner, was so patient with us with all our questions, and just seemed like an all-around nice and honest guy. He had also come out to our house 2-3 times during the quoting process, because of certain issues that had come up, and was always patient, kind and understanding, all at no charge with no guarantee of getting the work from us. We finally chose him and are VERY happy and pleased we did. Him and his crew turned out to be all we could hope for, and more. They did a fantastic job, and we actually have become friends through the process (they just had an Easter party at their house, invited us and we of course went and had a great time. They are a very nice and warm family.) A few or the extras that came up that they did WITHOUT charge during the installation: 1.. Steve went down to City Hall and pulled the permits for us, taking his time, without any charge. 2. A small roof problem, NOT caused by them, was discovered while they were installing the roof equipment.. The next day they purchased a small number of roof shingles to match at Home Depot, brought them to the house, and fixed the roof for us, again without being asked and without any charge. 3. Covered a whole in the attic roof vents with chickenwire where a cat had been going in and out of the attic without our knowledge. 4. Installed new grates in each room, at no charge, even though it was not part of the original quote. They are a great business and would never use anyone else again for any heating/air conditioning issues. Would recommend them highly without any hesitation. read more

I called Evans Heating and Air on Saturday the 24th, and Spoke with Rose. She informed me that someone could come out and look at replacing our ac unit on Sunday the 25th. The Tech showed up and I asked for a estimate on full replacement, not just a small repair. The tech said he will have a estimate by 5pm Sunday which is when I leave, I made it clear I need it ASAP to send to my boss to get it approved. I called a few times on Monday asking for the bid, I was told I would have it for sure 2-3 times on Monday, Out of the 7 times I called on Tuesday they answered 2 times both times I asked for the bid and was promised that I would get the bid. I came in this morning on Wednesday the 28th checked the email and still do not have a bid. You would think they would want business, the AC unit is not going to cost anything less than a $3-$4k or more to replace and the fact that we have 5 more stores with over 7 ac units that could potentially need service or replacement in the next year makes me question there actions. read more
