They advertised free in-person estimates on Facebook; but when I called to set up an appointment, and they learned that I wanted an estimate to repair my existing system instead of an estimate to REPLACE it, they told me there'd be a $99 charge to come out. After complaining that their advertising was false as to "FREE" estimates I eventually went ahead and made an appointment for them to come out. Roughly 2-hours later I received the following text message "Thank you Anthony for reaching out! However, Johnson Valley is outside of our service area. Thank you and have a good day." Seriously?? If I don't buy a new system, suddenly I'm outside their service area? I called their number that I found on Facebook, and their own AI assistant CONFIRMED that they DO service that area. I asked to speak to a person; explained the entire situation and then the lady told me that the AI assistant was wrong. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Watch out for these people as all they want to do is upsell people what they do not want or need and failure to agree to a replacement visit will likely end with "we don't service your area" or some other lame excuse. All this did was waste a day and set me back in terms of getting my system fixed. Bad business practices like this ... NOT COOL! Look elsewhere for more honest reputable companies that do not blatantly lie to their prospective customers or falsely advertise free estimates. What an amazing company. I spoke with Jonathan regarding the replacement of ductwork and the installation of a concentric vent kit on my father's FAU. HORRIBLE they replaced our whole heating unit. 2 Weeks later they came back out because the unit was not working. Now 3 weeks later not working again. They had the nerve to tell me any out of cost repairs would need to be paid and come out of my pocket!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me?? My home warranty set me up with an appointment with AQS to diagnose and repair my furnace. Tyler came out and troubleshooted. They ordered the replacement part and then Mark came back to install it. It sounds like it would have been an expensive repair if I hadn't used my warranty but my furnace is working again and I am very pleased with their service. Both employees answered all of my questions, were very friendly and professional, and even showed me some cool new tools that I'm going to need to get myself. Would recommend. read more

Two fans in two years and they want to charge for a diagnostic. Once again, I am having to change my review for AQS. This has bounced from low to high to low. Unless you are dealing directly with the owner/manager, the service is sub par. I am on the second fan with them within two years. The first one was incorrect and nearly rattled my unit to death. Their service tech was less than friendly and even asked to borrow tools from me. The second one momentarily seized yesterday. Made an awful sound while doing so. When I called to have the part checked, I was asked to pay $99 for the appointment. I asked if this is something I will have to do every year or two. I was told they weren't sure it was the issue. I'm not a tech, but I would assume a seized fan means there is a issue with the fan. Regardless of what the issue may be, their first part could have caused damage elsewhere in the unit. As well, no part should fail within its first two years of use. I got one full summer out of the fan. That's kind of ridiculous when the the twin unit next to it has a fan that's 10+ years old. Long story short, the second fan is not working properly. Their customer service has decided to provide attitude rather than assistance. And I quote "well it's working now, isn't it?" In the dead of summer, why not try to ensure your customers have working units? This is especially true when it's one you previously could have damaged... with them same exact part. Provide preventive care to parts you installed. read more

So we've had AQS out to our house 3 separate times for different issues. The first 2 times, Zach came out and took care of the issues at hand (thermostat issue & furnace tuneups). He's awesome: knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly, too! Unfortunately, he determined that our furnace was in poor condition and a safety hazard, so we worked with our home warranty to get AQS back out for the furnace replacement. We didn't get Zach as part of the replacement crew, but we did get 4 other awesome guys: Jonathan, Cameron, Greg, and Shawn. They worked all day long to remove the old furnace package unit and install the new one. No small feat! Hard workers, all of them! I highly recommend AQS for anyone's HVAC needs. HWA contracted them to come and check out why my AC wasn't working. don't waste your time with this company. look at the other comments from HWA people who had terrible experiences with this company. and they try to scam their customers by adding modifications to your system at the customers expense, not the home warranty. I was referred to AQS through my home warranty insurance. I has some bad experiences with ac companies in the past, but I got lucky this time. Jonathan and his team were the best technicians I have encountered. They replaced my whole HVAC system went above and beyond to help us resolve issue after issue to make sure we were taking care off. They were here 9 am to 9 pm trying to do the best job and complete the work. Super cool, super professional group of people . Me and my husband lucked out we were super happy with them. I am revising my review since they rectified the issue I had. I unfortunately experienced a bad situation with them but I did call and asked to speak to a supervisor to notify them of my issue. Honestly I didn't think I would get any response but the very next morning the owner Mike reached out to me and I explained what happened. He told me he wanted to make things right and said he would send over a technician in the morning. The very next morning Zach the technician showed up and looked over my unit and assured me that he can fix it and sure enough he got the part and fixed my unit. I scheduled service for an air conditioning repair online and was required to provide a my credit card. without me knowing and they charged me a $500.00 fee to check it out. Once there they replaced a capacitor something I have done in the past. Just remove a cover and transfer 3 wires. A 5 minute repair. 3 weeks later a get a charge on my credit card for $735.70. For a capicitor and a bent fan blade that wasn't bent before they worked on it. Thiis company was less than 2 miles from the work location. I could have done the job for $25.00 but I was away and my elderly tenants needed air. They completely took advantage of the elderlt people living in the area. I cannot suggest them. read more

Avoid this company at all cost. I called my warranty company (AHW) regarding my air conditioner not working on Monday (5/27/24). On Wednesday (5/29/24), a AQS technician came out and said that the Run Capacitor was bad and that he needed to order the part. He also stated that if I did not hear back from the company by Friday (5/31/24), to call them back. On Friday (5/31), I called the company and explained that we have a special needs person in the home and needed the A/C fixed since it was 88 degrees in the home. AQS responded saying that the technician was not scheduled to return until Tuesday (6/3/24). I call the warranty company (AHW) and explained the situation and they responded that since AQS was assigned to the warranty ticket, that I could not have another company service it as a warranty claim. I called a local A/C company, Pass A/C on Friday (5/31/24) and they repaired the problem the same day. Not only did they replace the Run Capacitor (a very common part used), they also had to replace the 1/4 horse power motor. I do not understand the lack of urgency or commitment to the customer requesting that I wait almost a week for them to return and repair my A/C unit, especially during the summer when it was 88 degrees in the home. This is totally unacceptable and shows a lack of concern to the customer. read more

*Avoid* 1.) IF you are paying for the work yourself there is plenty of better company's in the Riverside area. 2.) If your warranty company is selecting them, then you can call your warranty company and change to a different company. I'll say that the one star ratings on here are accurate as I ran into the same situation. Warranty company selected them to check out my furnance on 11/27/2022. They sent someone out within 3 days who indicated that it is the pressure switch. They received approval quick from the warranty company, waited for the party and in about 5 days came out to install the new part. The furnance was still not working. A new technician determined that the circuit board wasn't getting power at certain points and pondered why the previous one didn't check this. He determined that a new circuit board was needed and they put in the approval for that part and after waiting another week they came out to install that. After that was installed it still wasn't working so the technician at that time determined that it was the gas valve that needed replacing. So after another week and a half that was ordered and swapped out and the unit was still not working. They then decided that the whole unit needed to be replaced. *So to summarize all of that* over a month and three to four visits and still not fixed or completed properly. So now the warranty company approves to replace the furnance but AQS has tacked up 2900 dollars worth of "uncovered expenses". They are charging 650 for the permit, when the cost with the city is 250. So they are marking it up by 400 dollars. They wanted to charge to remove some wood framing around the furnance, 350 dollars. When I told them, that would be removed before they come out. A break down is as follows: ent pipe mod 350 electrical mod 200 gas line 200 plenum mod 500 filter rack mod 350 haul away furnace 100 return duct mod 350 california low nox start up 300 permit 650 Safety Switch 350 I told them that the california low nox start up is included with the furnance and the "testing" involves plugging in two small hoses to it and reading the #'s on the Guage. They want 300 bucks for that. I ended up getting additional quotes: 1.)AQS is charging 6075.00 2.) Integrity is coming in at 4000.00 3.) The third company is coming in at much much lower than both of these and the person is extremely honest, responsive and straight forward. read more

Of course, my AC went out on the hottest day of the year. I called the AQS 24-hour line and scheduled a technician to come out. They called back, saying the technician was running late and would be there between 2 and 6 p.m. The Technician arrived, opened the unit, looked at the wiring, and said I needed a new starter without testing anything and maybe a new fan motor. I said you mean the capacitor, but you haven't tested anything, he said he couldn't without installing a new one and wanted permission to do so. And calls them starters because most people don't know what one is. I asked hor much he said $589. I said come on, that's the $30 part, he said he doesn't set the prices, and I said, we're done. I paid the $99 Diagnostic fee, which he didn't really do just a visual. Having had similar problems over the years, I also knew this was a very common problem. I then called J&M Air Conditioning, and he told me they'd love to come out but were booked for the next 3 days, since I know what I'm doing I could order a capacitor on Amazon for around $2o and get it tomorrow or he'd test mine to make sure it's bad and sell me one under $30. I went to their store 3 miles from my house, tested the capacitor, which was bad, and sold myself one for $28.57. I went home, took pictures with my phone, installed it in less than 10 minutes, and the system worked fine. Thank you J & M Airconditioning so much. I would stay away from AQS $600 for a $30 Part and 10 minutes come on. Crooks, Crooks, Crooks! I'm not saying to fix it yourself; I would call an honest company that charges fair prices. Do not hire this company, they are nothing but scammers, specially with the elderly! they did a diagnosis on my furnace, which needs replacement. I have home warranty insurance through first american, which is also a scammer in conjunction with aqs! don't be taken by their illegal charges! report them to attorney general. they thought they could take over $1800 from me, who knows it's a scam! they add extra parts, for instance, a $15.87 bendable gas pipe, which sells at home depot, identical to the one they want to install for $350.00, is a total rip off. do not trust this company, they are thieves! they also have been neglecting to provide me with a written estimate! These guys SAVED THE DAY!!! Right before Labor Day and 110° Degree temperatures, i had my ac go out. Last minute, i was recommended to AQS, and I am glad I did. They finally replaced that BUT....... they did that but failed to tell us the unit was TOO SMALL FOR THE HOUSE! First time when we paid the servicing Fee we had prompt service, Second Time it took 3 days ( it was memorial weekend so we understood) Now third time AC goes down again, apparently if it is within 30 days we don't need to pay servicing fee. I keep getting requests for a review, which is hilarious to me. So here we go. I ended up having to use this company through my home warranty to look at my AC unit. Once I finally got in contact with them, someone was able to come out pretty quick, which may be the only nice thing I have to say. We had switched the unit off so we didn't make matters worse by having it kick on by accident. The tech that came out looked at me like I was dumb and said, "well, it's off". Like... duh! I did that. He thought that's the reason it wasn't working. He turned it on and said "well, looks like a perfect unit to me, call us if it happens again". He was going to leave! After I practically begged him to keep looking (my house was climbing to 90 degrees inside, my unit wasn't blowing cool air), he came to the conclusion I needed a whole new unit. Went from a perfect unit to needing a whole new one. Wild. After going back and forth with this company and the warranty company (a whole other story) for a week, they gave us a total cost to complete the job, but the warranty company wasn't going to cover over $3000 worth of work. NO ONE would tell us why. I called and asked AQS probably 10 times for an estimate breaking down the costs and all I got was "we'll email it to you" "we'll call you back". Nothing. Finally I spoke to a woman who does the estimates, to which she told me they will NOT send me an estimate. I'm sorry, you want me to give you $3000 out of pocket just because?? What kind of janky company is this. I ended up taking a cash out from my warranty company and going elsewhere to fix my AC. AQS offers the best annual or bi-annual maintenance service out there! Before we met AQS, we didn't even know that this was recommended. They go through your whole system and clean everything, recommend only what needs done (if anything) and let you know what may be coming down the road, and what to watch out for. We have a pretty new system, so once a year we will engage AQS and pay for the $77 service! BTW, we live in Menifee, CA - a very warm city in the summer. read more
