Chicken Shack is absolutely phenomenal! Their chicken wings are the best! It comes in different flavors, but my favorite is the Buffalo, and also the original one. It is the best and finest chicken wings I have ever had in this whole area. You can also order the boneless wings, most of their customer here at this place really love that boneless. They also have fries, sandwiches, tacos, and other interesting food. The ambiance of their place is really great, relaxing, and comfortable. You can really enjoy the whole place. Their tables and seats are plenty, and all of the customers entering the place can freely choose the table they want to use. Such a great spot to visit. For meetings, gatherings, celebrations, etc. Chicken Shack is really good and convenient. Their location is very easy to find. Certainly worth a go! This place never disappoints. As another review mentioned...food is tasty, but service leaves a bad taste in your mouth. One would think if you're spending $40 for a delivery order that they would accept credit cards just as they would had you walked in the restaurant...but apparently that is not the case. I called to place a delivery order around 3pm on a Friday afternoon and was told cash only AFTER I placed my order. Upon asking to speak with a Manager...I was told there wasn't one there and asked if I'd like to just cancel my order. Business owner!!!...is this really who you want representing you?!?! The last time I came, I called 25 minutes ahead and still had to wait another 20 minutes for my 6-piece wings upon arrival. 0 for 2 now....back to the other chicken shacks where food and service are equally good. read more

If you're looking for great fried chicken with a side order of clogged arteries, this is the place for you! Great food, but you should probably limit your intake, 'cause I'm sure cholesterol level is off the chart. This place is ok for a cheap meal in evanston, and one of the only places near campus to get passable fried chicken. First time I came here to eat in I thought it was awesome - first piece of fried chicken in over a year. Next few times ordering in delivery was really mediocre. Chicken pieces were small, kind of dry and really salty without the flavor to match. I like the thigh piece because it has a good meat/cartilage/connective tissue/fat ratio, but these didn't quite hit it on the juicy fatty deliciousness scale. This is about the company's customer service. I typically either walk-in (usually when near my work) and pickup my food or drive to this location and pickup my food, it's a 15 min drive. The last time I attempted to order to my home I was told they don't deliver to my address. I was told that the delivery drivers do not come south of Pratt. So I ordered just north of Pratt since I could retrieve the food from the driver north of Pratt. I just called to place an order and knowing that they do not deliver south of Pratt I provided an address just north so that I could retrieve the food. I was told multiple times that they won't deliver in spite of the address being in their delivery zone and then the woman on the phone said "I don't get paid enough for this so I'm going to give you the number for the dispatch and you can figure it out." That was it for me. I don't care what your product is, how you speak to and treat people matters. If you're going to use an independent delivery service to deliver your product then it's incumbent on you to ensure you 1) understand the expectations they've set out for doing business with you and 2) that you can hold them accountable to that expectation. I'm incredibly disappointed with a place that I frankly enjoyed until this experience. read more

Ordered the 12 piece special (6 thighs, 6 drumsticks). We've ordered this about 6 times over the last 2 years. Every time, the pieces get smaller and smaller. Even my young son who used to say "never fails to disappoint" said it was disappointing. Taste is decent enough. Size is really small. Size is worse than Jewel fried chicken and KFC. Sides aren't great. We tried twice but decided we make our own sides better. We just order the chicken but we will not return any time soon. It was really good a few years go. This is hard because I want so badly to give them 5 stars BUT I also so badly want to give them ZERO, so I'm drawing the line somewhat down the middle. First of all, I am an Evanston resident born and raised and absolutely LOVED Chicken Shack until a recent experience. Before I get to the bad stuff I will say that this place has made my tummy happy on many occasions, and that my Mom has absolutely made her claim that should she ever be offered a final meal, a wing dinner from Chicken Shack is what she wants! We love(d) it! One rainy night my brother, his girlfriend and myself decided we wanted Chicken Shack but none of us wanted to drive the short 5 block distance, lazy? ABSOLUTELY! It was 5pm and we decided to try delivery, which we never ever had before. After an hour and 45 minutes we finally got our food! That's ridiculous. And oh look who was delivering, the neighborhood drug dealer! GREAT! Anyways, we opened up our greasy brown bags and there was our three meals and side dishes all COLD! I mean room-temperature cold. There is absolutely NO WAY this food came straight from the restaurant. And the order was completely wrong. 4 strikes: extra long wait for food, drug dealer delivering, cold food, WRONG FOOD! My brother called to speak to the "manager" who once on the phone was someone neither one of us had ever heard of. We told him the condition of the food and that our order was wrong, he insisted that the food was fresh and he'd be willing to resend the order which was fine BUT he said because it was dinner time (now 7pm) it would be about 2 hours before we got our food. 9pm would have made it 4 hours since we originally ordered out food! At this point I took the phone because my brothers temper, I calmly explained everything to the manager and told him 2 addition hours was ridiculous and for the sake of customer service they should be doing everything they could to make this situation right. He told me "wait for the new order and don't touch the food you have because I want it back!" And hung up the phone on me. Nobody ever came with the new/fresh food and sadly we have not returned to chicken shack and have taken our business elsewhere. Customer service is what keeps businesses successfully alive. I am definitely a fan of Chicken Shack. I would rank it better than Harold's, but not as good as Gus. As far as I can tell, it's made to order. Fresh, crispy and seasoned perfectly. The true test for all chicken places, is if the breast is moist and tender. Chicken Shack passes the test. The challenge is to get it back home while its still hot. If would probably taste better at Chicken Shack, but the dining area is pretty limited. My tips the shack, would be to eat it fresh, and get the sauce on the side to keep it crisp. read more

The only reason why I am removing a star is because I really didn't like the rib tips. There was nothing wrong with them, per se, It's just they weren't nearly as spectacular as the chicken (probably serves me right for ordering ribs at a place called "chicken shack"). The chicken is really really good; primarily because of the seasoning and the quality of the fry (crispy but not painfully hard), the wings are good but I would highly recommend the chicken breast (it's super moist and that is hard to find). The shrimp are also spectacular: seasoned and fried very well. The french fries are okay. I would pass on the cole slaw (it's too sweet with not a lot of other flavors). read more

Can't go wrong with the shack. The bits and wings are the best. With honey bbq, regular sauce, or hot sauce on there; wheewww weee. But they do need to get a debit card machine in there since it is 2019. Have to spend over $10 to use your card.
