Went in as a first time patient for this particular segment of memorial care (honestly have no idea why there's so many practices with the same name that are all different) with concerns of a yeast infection and walked out with a $300+ bill and no actual yeast infection. It doesn't seem realistic to go to the Dr with concerns of a yeast infection and pay $300 each time on top of copay and cost of medicine. I just had a baby even that only cost me $600. I can only assume I would've been better off visiting urgent care or no dr at all. Memorial care medical group has been a confusing web of separate practices with the same name since I moved to Southern California, one that has left me feeling like a sheep among others rather than a human. Continuously left disappointed in the healthcare and insurance systems.

i liked her okay in the beginning but i also thought she didn't ask too many questions when i would…read moresee her. not a ton of nutrition questions and quick to diagnose me as another IBS case when i was going through a bout of gi distress for months. it was honestly due to stress and i do not believe i have ibs. i've already had a bad PCP with memorial care - and this time the staff did not communicate at all and the doctor did not message me in a timely manner - nor did she read everything in its entirety. her messages are usually super formulaic and not personable. if she cannot respond with sincerity to her pts, she should consider seeing less patients. my request for referral was canceled without my consent and their office wanted me to see a family physician for a derm referral. it took 2 months and then some for me to resolve this issue. they kept telling me it's due to my insurance but it was not bc i called my insurance twice to represent me - as my benefits allowed me to see a specialist. they wanted me to see another family physician before they would refer me out to derm - not sure why? one of the MAs at her office kept copying pasting generic replies to try and get me to schedule another appt for my chief complaint that i had already brought up at physical. hard to hide things when everything is recorded in epic chart system. very disappointing care. i switched doctors. EDIT: also very lazy of memorial care to "respond" yet i call the number and it's just the general line to call and connect with a patient navigator. do better. actually care. if you actually care, a manager would follow up with me

I googled the DR and found DR Loida Constantine to be affiliated with Memorial, so that was a big plus for me. so I scheduled 1st appointment 2nd and 3rd they all had to be canceled due to covid. then finally February 11,2021 we made it to her office. I showed up with all his med records, my court documents that I have conservatorship, anything and everything she needed was in my hand. i provided all of it to the receptionist, she placed it in his chart. when my son and i got called to the room, the RN asked was there a reason we are there. i said yes, my son is an adult now and his pediatrician gave me a list and DR Constantine is on it, so I'm trying to establish a r for him in his adulthood, she said ok. DR Constantine walks in, looks at the first few pages of the court documents and ask what is this? So I explained same thing that I explained to receptionist and RN, she looked at my son and said I don't think I am a good fit for him! I said why? she said you may be more comfortable with a male. I said are you kidding me? Are you saying you are not comfortable with seeing my son? she said well I not sure what you need? i don't think i can help! I responded. WHAT I told you my son can not see his pediatrician anymore he needs an adult DR but its fine, i don't want you as his dr, you where a waste of our time. I will notify dr lee to not ever refer anyone to your cheap apartment looking clinic, and I grabbed all my records and my son and walked out. Extremely disappointed! I had high hopes when I decided to…read morehave Dr. Karen Allsup as my general doctor. It was recommended by my insurance sales rep because she even goes to her. She raved about her. First time I saw her was in June to confirm I was pregnant and I was. Yay! She told me that I would mostly not see her for a while because of the pregnancy and my interactions would be with my OB. But she did say if it wasn't baby related, I could go see her. So now let's jump to Dec. 4, Tuesday morning, I called my OB and she advised me this is something my general doctor should handle. Then that would be Dr. Karen Allsup. So I called her office to see if I could squeeze in an appointment around 8:20am. I was turned down. The reason why I wanted to see her was I had major abdominal pains and diarrhea every hour to 2 hrs starting since the previous night at 6:30pm. Since I was pregnant, I wanted her advice on what type of medication I could take to ease the pain and the diarrhea. Plus I wanted to know if this was a normal pregnancy thing, food poisoning or if I should go to the ER. Someone did call me back, it was one of her medical staff 2 hrs later. I was advised that it was too early to tell and I should go on a BRAT diet. I followed her advice. The next morning on Wednesday, I had not improved and decided to stop eating and drinking at 3pm the day before because the pain was too painful. So I called Dr. Allsup again to squeeze me in for an appointment. I was turned down b/c she was too full but I asked if the Dr. Allsup could give me any advice. I was scared and desperate. I even told the medical stuff that. Was I harming my baby? The pain didn't stop at all, I couldn't stop the diarrhea and waited all day for her call. I would assume a pregnant woman who hasn't stopped diarrhea for almost 2 days and complains of major abdominal pain would be a red flag for Dr. Karen Allsup, but it wasn't. I gave up at 7pm and went to the ER that night. So when did someone finally call me back from Dr. Karen Allsup's office, late Friday afternoon!!!!!! She was pushing me to make an appointment with the doctor and I was like NO WAY. I told the appointment setter why would I go see the doctor if she didn't care to call me back when I was desperate for an answer. I had to go to the ER! Then again, the staff kept pushing me to set an appointment. I was like leave me alone because why should I go to a doctor that doesn't care about me especially when I am pregnant.

Before all of this, I was a healthy 30 year old who had never dealt with any major medical issues, so navigating recovery was completely new and overwhelming for me. Throughout this journey, Dr. Yafeh has been an incredible source of support, guidance, and I am still under her care today. She is one of the most compassionate and thorough physicians I have ever met. She regularly checked in on me, followed up when needed, and prescribed medications that helped significantly with the severe headaches I experienced after surgery. I am completely weaned off meds now. At the same time, she never made me feel pressured to take medications if I wasn't comfortable. Instead, she always listened to my concerns and worked with me to create a treatment plan that felt right for me. What I appreciate most is that she never rushes through appointments. She takes the time to answer every question and explain things in a way that makes sense. As someone who had never gone through anything like this before, I had a lot of questions, and she never once made me feel bad for asking them. She listens and makes you feel heard. Dr. Yafeh also took the time to educate both me and my husband about what recovery would look like and what challenges we might face along the way. She helped us understand how to navigate this new reality and gave my husband guidance on how he could best support me during my recovery. She has been incredibly helpful with disability paperwork, work restrictions, and helping me obtain modified duty so I could safely transition back to work. In addition, her staff have always been kind and helpful. Most importantly, Dr. Yafeh helped me regain confidence in myself after a life changing event. She helped me adjust to my new normal and reminded me to give myself grace during the recovery process. I am grateful for her expertise, patience, kindness, and unwavering support throughout one of the most difficult times in my life last year.
