This group is one of the biggest scams I have ever seen. First you apply, then you must "interview" with the company. After your long winded interview they "INVITE YOU" into their private club. The club's dues are close to 4k annually, then $40 a month, plus you have to pay for most events and drinks. So I do not know where the dues even go. They will then give you an incentive on how they can break you a deal for $3k down and 4 free months.... You cannot meet any member before you pay, you cannot see any of the events to see if you like the group, and you cannot cancel early if you find out you are not a fit in the club. Personally to me that means SCAM. As an old sorority girl, I understand paying for social groups, but you at least meet the sisters, and you have a pledge period where you can cancel at any time! When I explained that although, I make good money, I do horse rescue where most of my money goes to, the employee told me that my priorities just where not straight enough for me to meet new people. I apologize for donating my life and money to charity... but if members would rather drink at happy hour than do a good deed, that is not the spot for me! BE CAUTIOUS! There are high pressure sales techniques if you do not know what you are looking for. They will pry on your failed relationships, pitfalls, and financial growth if you let them. I should have known based on the fact that they are not up front about their membership fees from the start. I figured it would maybe be a monthly fee plus the individual fees for events. I did not expect the overhead of $3000 plus the aforementioned costs (for the minimum package deal). When I said it was way too much for me, I was given "the deal," which was $1000 off and an extra 6 months. The catch? I had to sign up then and there. I made it clear that I wasn't willing to make a decision about spending that kind of money on the spot, and I needed some time to think things over, look at my finances etc, and that was when the fun began. My interviewer began turning all of my words back on me, saying I obviously wasn't as committed to taking a different avenue to meeting people as I said I was, that it only came down to $29/week and if I couldn't invest that amount, then I wasn't serious about my future and meeting a partner, and that if I wasn't willing to jump right in immediately then maybe I wasn't right for this club. This went on for about 20 minutes, with her getting visibly more angry each time I put my foot down and said no. When I finally got up to leave, she shoved her hand at me to shake and stared me down angrily. I understand that it's a for-profit business, and the pricing structure is what it is. Some people may be fine with paying that, but it's just not for me. I'm mostly upset with the manner in which the sales pitch was handled. First of all, what ever happened to being upfront about what something costs? Even a car has a sticker price that you can look at before you ever have to talk to a sales person. But I get it, that's how they sucker a lot of people in who aren't able to stand firm (and I'll hand it to the girl, she had some great arguments - I might have been suckered in myself, but I literally could not afford it responsibly). But if I say no, then let it go. Tell me you hope to see me in the future if I change my mind. Be nice, so that I'll want to come back. Don't get angry and chide me like I'm a child. Don't tell me how to readjust my finances so that it would be affordable. Don't tell me it isn't a lot of money when you break it down. Don't question my commitment. And let me go after the first no. Hell, let me go after the 10th no. Because I may have gone home and thought about it and done some adjusting of my budget after deciding that yes, I want to go for it. I was in Seattle E&A for three years. I moved across the country to Seattle not knowing anyone, and E&A was a great way to jump start a social life. I had no regrets, and would do it again, although I did become bored with it after a while. The sales pitch for me was not aggressive, and I was able to negotiate down the up-front fee. The woman who signed me up became one of my closest friends and later introduced me to a lot of fun people. I had a lot of fun, dated a lot, and learned about bars and restaurants and other fun things to do in Seattle. I also began skydiving with the group, and continued doing that for many years afterwards. The best events were often the parties at members houses, or camping and skiing trips. E&A is not a dating service. Its a social club. There is no guarantee of success of any sort. I didn't mind the up-front fee, because I wanted the social club to be exclusive. Everyone there has a good enough job so that they can afford to participate in the first place. I understand that in the crazy times we live in, some people might have a problem with the basic exclusionary concept of the club, so those people should stay away. The other group that should stay away, in my opinion, are people in their early or mid twenties. I observed that people that young were usually disappointed by the activities and the average age of the club members, which is probably around 35. It is a maturity issue. I also saw that Men or Women who tended to be vain and/or judgmental also did not enjoy the club very much, because they sometimes thought there weren't enough people worthy to socialize with. These people brought their own problems with them into the club though; it was nobody else's fault. There are a lot of negative reviews and that's too bad. My experience was that if you come in with a positive, outgoing attitude, you will meet a lot of people and have a lot of fun. Maybe the E&A management needs to dial down the sales pitch since so many of the negative reviews mention that. So, it is not for everyone, but is a lot of fun for many people. I loved going to events with 100's of my closest friends, most who I'd never met before but we all had the same things in common....we were single and we liked to go out and do fun stuff with other people who actually wanted to do the same things we did. No more dragging your latest date to wherever they didn't want to be. The best part is there are tons of classes or events to choose from and the ones I liked best were usually free or of very low cost. Now, granted, you pay for the privilege of hanging with all the beautiful people but that does help weed out the unemployed although the losers can still sneak through if they have the cash. read more

I HAVE AN Events and Adventures Membership so I am going to offer you a real look into what you can expect. My location is Seattle Events and Adventures club. My name... well you can call me May...the month I joined. Let me fill you in with facts not opinions...I will get to those later. 1. Price The price of membership is not free and because it is higher than the free options, which abound online - I would agree this is a rather exclusive member's only situation. I agree with the other reviewers if you are in a low-income bracket or minimum wage job - this is not for you. 2. Who joins Events and Adventures Absolutely everyone I have met at the events is fun loving and yes...single. However, it is not exactly a dating club at least not in the normal sense. It is not Match.com and certainly no one promises you will get laid or attempt to hook you up on some weird blind date with a weirdo or sexual predator. If you are looking for sex go to Craigslist.org personal ads. Events and Adventures members are far more intelligent lot of self respecting adults who simply want to re-engage life. 3. Why I joined. I was married for about 6 years and that relationship lowered my self-esteem and left me emotionally compromised. I wanted to learn about me and participate in activities that my former relationship never felt worth attending. My mindset was 'The club sounds like a great way to learn who I am and it costs less than therapy and hopefully is a lot more fun'. All of these expectations have been realized as of this writing. For me, this membership saved me from what could have been a long-term depression. Had I entered therapy, I would likely be still crying and whining to my shrink about what I might have done wrong in my marriage. 4. Alternatives to Events and Adventures For me the only one was therapy. Still- I had no desire to explore my past. I promised myself I would not look back. I felt no responsibility in the break up. It was never my idea for my now ex to entertain another woman in my home (bed). That was all him. Actually, I would love to have never walked in that afternoon but I did. 5. Living well is the best revenge Everyone who happens to read this...it is true. Go out and re-discover who you are and what you want. For me, I wanted to be around like minded others doing things I had never ever experienced. I needed to associate myself with anything and everything positive so I joined Events and Adventures. 6. Types of Activities I have jumped out of an airplane. Gone on hikes and rock climbing. Gone to the theater and parties. I am looking forward to future travel with this group of people too. There are honestly too many activities to do everything. Something happens every day with this club. Some of them are less elaborate than others. Nevertheless, all of them fun and positive ways to spend time. 7. Mindset of members and company No one complains, bitches or moans about joining. It is true. Everyone is happy and in my opinion, that is why you hardly see a positive review about this club. Only the negative people take the time to 'warn' and discourage. The happy members are too busy attending functions and events to take the time to give non-members the real story. I am too tired after Christmas to get dressed so I am starting early on my New Years resolution, which is to give credit where it is due. Make no mistake; I do not give entire credit for my current happiness to Events and Adventures. It was after all my decision to join so I give myself props for making a good choice for me. read more

People who complain about Events and Adventures crack me up! There is no high pressure. Come on! The pressure you feel comes from you knowing you want to try it, and being too scared to do it. It isn't like it is a hard decision anyway. You either want to go have a blast at well organized events and meet great new people.... or you don't. I have been involved with E&A on and off since 1998. I have a lifetime membership and simply put, it was the best money I ever spent. The membership paid for itself long ago and I can not say enough about the staff and how hard they work. There is always something fun and new going on. I joined hoping to meet someone special, I found hundreds that were special. I have more great friends than I know what to do with now. And yes, in case people are curious, there are tons of attractive, well spoken, well educated, fun loving people there. TO SUMMARIZE: If you are angry, bitter, and want to just meet anyone. Go to the bar. If you are fun, you have a positive mind, and you are willing to put in just a touch of effort, then this club will be perfect for you! The choice is to sit around and complain and sulk, or grab the opportunity, join, and have the time of you life! read more

Here's the deal; you provide the membership fee, they provide the event planning and the connection and networking and advertising to attract other people that are single. You provide the personality and get to have fun meeting people. This is not a dating service. This is not a matchmaking service. This is a community of people that you make the most of. In my 8 years of being part of the club, I have not met "the one" but I have met a vibrant group that have kept me social and meeting new people. It also gets me out of the house. So if your life is boring and you have trouble meeting singles outside your work, E&A might just be for you! Summary: Not worth it, use MeetUp, join a sports team, try a reading group, or literally anything else instead. I joined this group hoping to join a social club where people tend to know each other and build friends off of the group. Additionally, I wanted to try activities with groups and maybe get some group discounts with it. I was looking forward to well managed events given that the cost of the service is so high. The events are less about a social club that a bunch of random people who get together sometimes but there's no feeling of being part of something. Other clubs I'm part of tend to have more cohesion and members are interested in drawing new people in and welcoming them. Not so much here. A lot of the events are awkward gatherings of people trying to get to know each other with coordinators who may or may not have event planning or management skills. The events themselves are of mixed quality. What I didn't realize when signing up is that over half the events are run by members and not the company itself. Members are encouraged to try running events themselves. I joined to have stress free social activities where I could meet people, not so I could become free labor. A lot of the events are also drinking themed. Paint and Wine. Pub Crawl. Wine and chocolate tour. Cook with wine. Had I known how alcohol heavy the group events would be I wouldn't have joined. Finally, for a social club, they have no social network support at all. Their website is very poor and is almost unusable on a phone. They company does not allow you to connect with individuals online, which is strange given how our society currently uses social media so much. I don't know where the thousand dollars I spend on this club went but it didn't go into event organization, group discounts, or the website they use. Not worth it. It's basically a money laundering business. I called them over the phone to get some information after listening to their ad in Pandora. They didn't give me any information over the phone and kept insisting me to meet them in their office in-person. After the first call they kept calling me every day until I finally agreed to meet them in person. There's this guy named Curtis to is very persistent. I went to their office and was met by some people who mentioned that they were members of the club and were there to talk to aspiring members and perform some basic checks and that they volunteer, but I bet that they are sales people and they get paid talk to you for 1 hr. There was a lady who was talking to me first, she ranted on for 45 mins about the benefits of the club, they main Selling Point is that they ensure that the members have good backgrounds, but trust me they do none of that. She didn't ask a single question or perform any checks on me. Every time I would ask about the fee, etc, she would talk more about the benefits. After about 45 mins she told me the amount and the membership schemes. I wanted to leave but she brought in another salesman who started tweaking the offers and the plans for me. At the end I took a 6 months membership for about $2000+ with no pause. The experience was like talking to those spam phone calls that claim that you have won a huge cruise ship package reward and then ask you to send them $50 for the potage. After joining, I didn't find a single free event worth going to. They all had a huge fee attached to them. In the entire 6 months I went to 1 event. And when talked to them about cancellation they denied it. Moral of the story : DO NOT join this club, meet-ups do exactly the same thing and they don't require you to spend a huge amount on membership fee. read more

Sorely Disappointed! I unfortunately did not do my research before I joined this club. They did an interview with me, and I knew it was a lot of money, but I thought it was going to be worth it. I was single at the time, and wanted to try out some new activities, so I thought it would be good. In the interview they hand you a calendar and ask you to circle all of the things that interest you. I circled a lot. They tell you that *some activities cost extra. Which I thought was understandable, since they do trips overseas, etc. What they don't make clear, is that MOST events cost extra, on top of the extreme amount they charge for regular dues. If you only go to the free events, you do not get your money's worth and the free events are often things like meet-ups at a bar, where you pay your own tab anyway. The free events are super lame, and it usually ends up being the same group of people over and over. They throw these "big events" for Halloween and New Years, etc, that they say are everyone's favorite and you HAVE to go, but they literally feel like you're in a cheesy high school reunion. Seriously, so bad, and you have to pay extras for those too! Their website is terrible, and not up with technology or current times. They do have member pictures up that they take of you when you sign up, but they're in this weird section of the website, and it doesn't show the person's picture when they are attending an event. So there's no "that person looks like someone I would like to meet, I think I'll attend the same event." Nope, not able to do that. There must be SO many people that sign up and stop going to the events after they realize what a sham it is. Seriously, it's like the same 20-30 people out of hundreds of members. I did meet some nice people, but nothing you couldn't get from doing meet ups, and you'd probably have more fun because you wouldn't be grumpy about being conned. I really did try, I went to as many events as I could and even paid extra for a couple of them, trying to make it worth my while. Most of the stuff that actually looked fun, I couldn't afford. After a few months, I just stopped going and continued gritting my teeth as they charged my account each month. You are stuck in a contract for 18 months, which they throw the gimmick at you that you get "6 months free" but you still end up paying like $125 per month for 18 months, and you're stuck. It's ridiculous for what you get to do as a member "for free." They only allow you 4 or 5 days to decide if you want to stay in contract after you join, and I heard they give quite the headache if you're able to make a decision that fast. read more

E&A was exactly what I was looking for: a place to establish a new social circle with the possibility of romance if things click. They don't do anything to set up matchmaking or otherwise push the romance angle which keeps things natural and fun. I've greatly enjoyed the variety and quality of events they come up with, especially with their newest event coordinator Taylor. They do it all: everything from hikes, skydiving, Broadway plays, escape rooms, arcades, pub-crawls and sporting events. I feel like there is always something worth experiencing going on. And, because you keep running into the same people you really get to know each-other, which is what it's all about. My favorite event so far was this last New Year Eve party which was a masquerade party on a yacht on Lake Union; total blast! I was a member for a year in 2010 and this is the worst purchase I have ever made. The price is way too high and the event they organized was way too cheap always something like hiking or pot luck in some members' house or other cooking event that cost you $50. Well, so what is that $2,000+ membership fee for? I only attended a few events and that didnt amount to anything fun. If you move due to work your out of the money that you had spent on the membership and they will not work with you on the if you no longer can use there service. I've been a member for over a year and have done some really fun activities such as sky diving, hot air balloon ride, flyboarding, sea kayaking, unique cooking classes, broomball, burlesque shows and scavenger hunt on an electric boat. The events are well planned and interactive as well as appropriate for all ages and adventure levels. In addition to trying new things, I've met so many great, friendly people. I've also traveled to Cuba with E&A and ended up with 30 new amazing friends from throughout the US who helped make the travel adventure even more memorable. I decided to try this as a way to get out and meet more people. I was more than a little cautious, but when signing up, I read through my contract fairly thoroughly and felt I had a good out should I decide E&A would not work for me. So I put down my deposit and signed up. I had just wrapped up a nasty divorce, and was more interested in meeting people than in finding the "man of my dreams," although the salesperson refused to hear that and kept telling me about all the hot men I'd meet. I went to an event and did enjoy myself. I met some very nice people, but I'm in my 30s, and felt like there wasn't anyone in my demographic that I could chat with. I ended up spending some time with some very nice older ladies and got hit on by several very drunk creeps. Yes, the high cost keeps out poor people, but that doesn't mean they're all quality folks. But I did have fun, so I considered it a win. I had planned on staying with them, but I had a change in circumstances and no longer had time to attend events. After a month of inactivity, I chose to activate the out-clause in my contract and called to cancel. I was told by the woman on the phone that I couldn't cancel without paying the full $3000 I owed them for a two-year membership. I said, "That's not what your sales manager told me." Her response, "I find that hard to believe. She would have told you." I then got a call from the selfsame sales manager, who tried to talk me into a lower-level membership, and who continued to tell me that the contract did not allow me an out. Not having the contract in front of me, I asked her to email me her proposal so that I could have some time to go home and re-read the contract. I'm a paralegal, so I know how to read a contract, and got home to find that the contract does, indeed offer you an out, and even stipulates that you can request a refund of any overpayment. When I pointed out the specific line, paragraph, and section of that portion of the contract, the sales manager continued to argue with me, threatening to send me to collections. I still get attempts from them to charge my card every single month, and they are still sending me letters threatening me with collection actions. Life happens, things change. Apparently E&A doesn't accept that, they just want their money. Like Lina, I will be contacting the BBB, and I suggest that you stick with free services such as Meetup. read more

The club has lots of fun events with something for everyone, from outdoor events like hiking (though I'd prefer a hike that doesn't require me to get out of bed at 5 am on a weekend!) and kayaking to movies, escape rooms and pub crawls. All in all it's a lot of fun. Now that I've joined, I don't really see it as a viable way to meet a person to date, but I have made some single friends. All of my friends are married with kids, so it's nice to have some other single people to do things with. read more

This company is an obnoxious group to deal with on all fronts and are constantly being investigated for false claims (false Yelp reviews too), denying refunds and overall being very painful to work and deal with. This is stupid. A friend told me she'd heard about it on the radio and I should check it out. I went to their website (which is a total piece of crap) and submitted my info. A chick called me back almost right away. Basically, they want me to drive out to Bellevue and do an hour-long interview before they'll even tell me how much it costs to do this. Like, they wouldn't even give me a HINT. This implies to me that they're either scaling the cost based on your income or scaling the cost based on your attractiveness; either way, it's a disturbing business practice. Events and Adventures is a total rip off. If you are consdering Events and Adventures, just go ahead and try a great alternative that is free...YELP!!! Ok, so here is my sorry saga with Events and Adventures: August 08: Broke up with ex of 10 months and decided since I hadn't really met anyone in the year of being here in Seattle, that I needed to look for an alternative way to meet people. (Notice I used the word people vs guys.) My goal was to make some new friends, and get out and see parts of Seattle that I had not given myself the opportunity to see. An ad for E & A came on the radio, and I decided it was worth a shot. I called in, and they told me I would have to come in for an interview. This actually impressed me at first...they don't take felons (YEAH!) and they make you show you are a real person...that is definately a plus. HOWEVER..... During my interview, the sales guy gave me a quiz to determine how I meet people. Turns out I am an extrovert (go figure!!) I can go anywhere and meet anyone...this is true. What should have manifested in my brain was "EXACTLY WHY YOU DON'T NEED E & A!!!" This voice had apparently put itself on mute. I decided to give it a shot... can't be too bad, and some of the events looked cool. They were events I would actually consider going to on my own. My sales person told me I would have no problem meeting people (as if I was worried about THAT!) and that the guys would be flocking...this was of course not my concern, but if it happened...so be it. My sales person starts my contract and before I know it, he has me signed up for 3 years paying 100 bucks a month...for the WHOLE 3 YEARS!!! Holy crap. PLUS you pay for all the events....and Membership dues...OMG, talk about going into debt. I was really optomistic about it at the time though. I had done the best I could to put myself into a positive state of mind after the break up, and saw this as an opportunity to meet some people who were interested in actually MEETING people. My first event: Karaoke at Jazzbones in Tacoma. So glad I went to this... the venue is great (that will be on a seperate review.) The majority of the people who showed up at the event were older guys... there were a few ladies who seemed really cool, one of them I even exchanged numbers with. I thought maybe I should try a few events before I totally bash this group. Event number 2: Lake cruise on an old boat...there were about 30 people or so, and once again I met a really cool chick, we also exchanged numbers. It was at this event, that I began to see a serious trend in the majority of the men that were attending these events. (Please note: this is not to say all the men in this group are bad...just my personal observations from the folks that attended the events I attended.) There were a few guys who ended acting very "stalkerish" asking for my number. I told one guy that I don't give my number to guys... (I was joking but at the same time didn't want to be mean and finish the statement which would have sounded something like "guys like you that is.") I attended one more event, as a desperate attempt to feel like this was worth it... it isn't. Worst part is, I can't get out of it. At least that is what they said. The only way I can get out of it is if I get married. (sham wedding anyone??? Just kidding.) My next attempt to get out will be through the Better Business Bureau. Needless to say, if you consider yourself an extrovert, consider yourself warned. Do not, I repeat do not join Events and Adventures. Find some activities going on in the area (Yelp or Meetup.com or somewhere else) and go...meet people, have fun, and enjoy life!!! I'm based out of San Jose but this Events and Adventures headquarters deserves another negative review. I had to call this office because I wished to cancel my membership after being in the club 6 months and barely being able to use it because of financial limitations. Seemed like a cool idea at the time, I'd meet cool people around my age, etc. (See my review for the Santa Clara office for more clarification on this) Anyway, to cancel my membership I had to call this office. On January 20th, I called and originally spoke to Brittney Oyer, the member support person. She mentioned in passing that I was way past the cancellation period even though there is no such stipulation on the contract. There is a 3 day cooling off period if you don't choose to keep the membership at all but that's somewhat standard from what I understand. There is no limitation listed for when you can cancel, no cancellation fees, nothing. Anyway, she ended up transferring me to Robert Bernard, another guy in the office. He ended up being my main point of contact throughout this whole debacle. He informed me that I could cancel at anytime but there would be ramifications. It turned out that I had to still pay for a membership I had no desire to use. Why? Because the contract says until paid in full. So basically saying you want to cancel does nothing. I even sent a certified letter with return receipt to verify I wanted out. Still have to pay in full. What a ripoff. By the way, I had to call every day from the 20th to the 22nd to try and get an update on how this should be handled. To complicate matters, my payments were now to be handled by some payment company called Universal Account Servicing since they took over the account in December. Plus, Robert said I'd have to negotiate with them what I'd be paying to settle the account. I call them and they inform me they don't do negotiations, they only take payments. Robert did again suggest negotiating with them after I called the office, but this time said "Well you can try but I can't guarantee anything." I informed him that the only way the account amount could change would be if it came from them, to which he said "Yes that is correct." IF YOU KNOW THIS THEN WHY ARE YOU HAVING ME CALL THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE?? After 10 calls (yes 10) to the Seattle office and about 5 calls to Universal, I had to close out my remaining account balance with $1629.44 plus an $11 processing fee over the phone with Universal today. The correct total was $1483.05 and I told Robert that but after 3 weeks of constant calls and calls not being returned by him, I just gave up. I hope no one else has to go through this with this expensive scam of a so called company. Expensive lesson learned. Guys, go use Meetup. It's free and I enjoy it. Forget Events and Adventures. One of the best decisions I have made. I went from having a narrow range of monthly activities to a full calendar of new ones. I've met so many amazing people and tried a lot of new things. Sure, it's a little expensive and the trips are completely out of my price range but the experiences I've had at the local events are worth it. read more

I whole-heartedly agree with others reports of high-pressure manipulative tactics used during the in-person interview being an immediate turn-off. I was out of town for 3 days (Friday Saturday Sunday) after signing up on a Thursday night, called first thing Monday morning to cancel my contract and they refused. I found this deeply upsetting that a large company purporting to be building relationships between people world-wide couldn't accommodate at least a partial refund for a young single woman. I am also left very angry at the impersonal and psychopathic means to which the salesman got me to sign up in the first place. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone looking to travel, meet people, date, adventure, or otherwise - The company would have done much better to either A) allow a longer trial period which a new member can cancel, such as at least a week, or B) Make it 3 business days to cancel the contract. If you think car salesmen are bad, you should avoid E&A at all costs! read more

Wow I had such an odd experience I just had to share... I entered my contact info on their website after hearing one of their radio ads for the 1000th time. Then I decided to check Yelp. After reading a lot of the negative reviews I decided not to pursue a membership before I even talked with anyone at the company. WITHIN 30 MINUTES I received a phone call from someone from the company around 8pm. I thought that was creepy fast and a bit later than I'd like to receive a solicitation call, but whatever. When the woman identified herself, I told her that I had signed up but I after "talking with friends" I had decided not to *CLICK* pursue a membership. She literally hung up in the middle of my sentence!! And no, the call did not drop because I heard the phone clang against the receiver when she slammed it down (well not exactly slammed but she certainly didn't try to hide the fact that she hung up on me haha). She also never called back, so I'm sure it was on purpose. I literally laughed it was so absurd. Good luck to the people who decide to sign up! read more

Another Tragic Adventure with Events and Adventures. Luckily mine only lasted about 48 hours and I will hopefully get a full refund. If not, I too will head to the Better Buissiness Bureau. The Horrible Tale: My friend (recently divorced) said she had contacted them and was going for an info session and invited me to come with. I figured it would be somewhat like a travel agnecy where you go and get information and they tell you the rates. NOT SO MUCH! We are from Tacoma and travelled the 45-60 minutes up to Bellvue for the "interview" becuase they told us this was the only way possible to sign up. They were very secretive about their prices over the phone saying that it was a "private club" and that they could not just give their information out to anyone. What a JOKE!!! We got there and they decided the best way of targetting us would eb to do out interviews seperately. They made us feel extra special by saying they were looking for a certain "personality type" and that not just anybody could get a membership. As if 1 hour spent in an interview could filter out the freaks. RIGHT!!! So we went through out interviews seperately and each got offered a spot. The young associate (relatively my age) the reached intp her desk drawer and pulled out the coveted price options. WTF!!!! The prices are outrageous. As explained in the other reviews most of the memberships and $3000 + and they have additional membership fees of $30 per month. On top of that none of the activities are paid for!!!! All your fees go straight to their profit and advertisements. When you tell them that the prices are too much they then offer you incentives saying that they can "give you a deal" like... "$1200 dollars off" if you pay in full today. INSANITY. By the time you leave there you end up with a car payment. It is ridiculous to say the least. For someone who wants to try something new and does not know a lot of people this seams like the perfect opportunity. Totally not worth it. Please do not stooop down to this level to find friends. They make you pay wayyyy too much for something that is not worth it. So here I am-- 4 weeks later and I still have not gotten my deposit back. They suckered me into a $500 dollar deposit and about 90 minutes after I left I'd decided it was not for me. Guess what-- they make it VER DIFFICULT TO CANCEL. Read you dontract carefully. Cancellation requires a certified letter mailed within 24 hours of you signing the contract. If the cancellation letter does not come until 48 hours you get a $100 penalty fee, and the cancellation is only available for the first 72 hours. Luckily I figured out the process pretty quickly but I am still waiting for my repayment. :( read more

I joined Events & Adventures a few months ago and I'm beyond happy with my decision to do so. I moved to Seattle a few months ago wanting to explore Seattle and the surrounding areas past tourism. I've got that and more. There's an event for every single day. From hikes, festivals, to game nights it's always a good time. Let's not forget to mention the unprecedented Holiday parties, not even comparable to any other party around. We are talking establishments reserved just for members, fully catered with our own dance floors and DJ's. If there's something a member wants to do chances are well do it. The event coordinator Austin Cassell has made events specifically on request per a member numerous times. My social life is way better than its ever been before. No more sitting at home want and wishing to go out and do things. I check the calendar, sign up for an event and go. The planning is done for me. Their motto is "Live a Life you Love". Since joining I can honestly say that I'm living a life I love!! Did I mention that we've gone to dance classes, upscale restaurants, weekend getaways even vacations within and outside of the United States!! Young or older there's an age group for all. read more

Place is a scam. They charge a ton of money. Won't tell you how much it is until you go in and act offended when you say its way too much money for what you get. Waste of time. I frankly hardly write online reviews. However, I'd like to at least warn others about this so-called company. I will admit that I, like others, fell for their tactics, and therefore, it is my responsibility to have dealt with them. However, E&A is also a serious scamming company. Here is a summary of the main issues with this company. I should've known better when it comes to points 1-3, but points 4&5 are serious issues with this company: 1. High pressure sales tactics. Others have explained the high pressure salesman approach, as in a "deal" is offered that will not (under any circumstances) be available unless you sign up on the spot. Classic. I should have known better. 2. Demeanor and attitude of the salesman. I'm a professional who deals with people daily, and I have never seen or experienced a more awkward (or frankly sleazy) interaction as I did during the initial interview that lasted 1.5 hours with the sales guy doing most of the talking. Insultingly, the salesman played on the fact that I was single and interested in potentially getting to socialize better (since my work is all time consuming). It was uncomfortable, to put it mildly and I should have walked out right then and there. 3. The contract cancellation terms. Others have alluded to this as well. There's a 24 hour cancellation window, and cancellation must be via a letter in the mail (which is absolutely ridiculous), and a 3-day cancellation window with a $400 penalty. After which, for lack of a better way to say this, you can kiss your hard earned money good bye. Now, here are the big problems that I'd like to warn people about: 4. Lack of the company's transparency regarding their services and what the very hefty "membership fee" includes. Not at any point in time did the salesman inform me that events involve an additional cost. For some really nice sounding ones, this can be as much as $70-80 or more. It is when I saw that the same day I signed up, that I decided to cancel pronto. 5. Refunds. This company failed to return my money within the contractual 30-business day window (which is an obscenely long amount of time). I had to call Visa, file a dispute and request a charge back, which they very efficiently agreed to, and that's how I got my money back. The E&A office was difficult (if not impossible) to reach, and every time a different person was on the other end with very vague information throughout the cancellation process. December 18, 2015 found me at the E&A office, signing a contract. I knew it was $$, but I'd checked with a few friends who really enjoyed it. I sat through the sales pitch and signed on the dotted line. Literally as soon as I got in the car and before I was out of the parking lot, a friend called me. "DO NOT DO E&A!" So more due diligence when I got home and I decide from that I need to put a hold on it. I go back to the contract. I could break it inside four days for like $400, OR if I sent a certified, return receipt letter to them by THE NEXT DAY, I'd get all my money back, within 30 days. So, off to the UPS store I go. $15 later, I've got it sent. The rep calls me the next day. I tell her that I'm doing further due diligence. I was glad for the call as I now knew they had signed for the letter. 30 days later, no refund! 35 days later, no refund! So I call. Turns out it's 30 BUSINESS DAYS, not 30 calendar days. So I wait until 32 business days and call them. But the office issuing the credit received it some 8-10 days from when the Bellevue office received it, so the 30 business days is from then. No, I say. They received it on December 19. It should be 30 business days from then. Bottom line, I got the refund today. 49 calendar days, 35 business days from when they signed for the cancellation. Sigh..... read more

The feeling of joy that I had at just doing the interview and giving them the membership money was worth it. Havent even done an event yet but I look forward to spending time with like minded people!!! read more
