Unless you have $3000 to put down and then want to pay a $30 monthly fee plus extra fees for 75% of their events, this is not the place for you. Joined in 2015- single male 25yrs. They make you pay 1000+ day one and say you have a week to get a refund if you don't like it. Complete lie. Had over 1500 stolen from me... you have to send a letter In Writing with a stamped envelope to be eligible. No one ever told me that. I emailed them day 6 for a refund.. no one responded for a month...they then said to bad basically. I can't imagine how many people they do this too. This place is a total rip off! They charge an insane amount of money to go to events that you have to pay for! The people there are already coupled up or older. They make you sign a contract that you can't get out of even if you voiced your displeasure and dislike in how the business is ran and everything! Update August 2015: Here is my full rant about this scamming company called E&A: I wrote my original review recently, but those events took place in 1998. I saw some TV advertisement in the early days and thought E&A sounded great. First I called, and they refused to tell me the sign up cost. That should have been a BIG red flag, but I was in my 20s, so I didn't realize that. I asked if the cost was $100, and was told "that would be a good down payment". The phone salesmen are VERY secretive and will NOT tell you the total cost. If they did, most people would hang up. Instead, they are very pushy and want you to go to their office for an even higher pressure sales pitch. I went ahead and agreed to meet in person. A few weeks later I drove to Portland (this was in 98), and met a clean, decent dressed, major ass kissing salesman. He wanted to be my best friend, know all about me, talk about anything I desire, and kept pushing E&A. I was offered water or coffee, a place to sit, or anything to make me comfortable. We sat down and discussed the membership. He refused to tell me the price, even though I asked many, many times. Instead, he showed me a full calendar of events, and explained every event in extreme detail. ALL 30 DAYS! I don't care that much. I want to know how much this will cost me! After a full hour of asking him the cost, he finally told me. $1800!! WHAT??? Hell no. He said that most of their members are professionals making $30K a year. A professional who only makes $30,000 a year??? That is insanely low for a "professional" in anything. He said some people are shocked, but most say "yeah that's reasonable." I call pure BS on that. Then he asked if I have a check book. No... why? He said to make sure I am single. I didn't realize at 23, now but do now at 41, that wasn't to check if I'm single, its because they want a check for the insane membership fee. Have you ever heard of separate checking accounts for married people? Most married I know have joint and separate accounts. Anyway, I said no I don't have a checking account (which was true back then), then he lost interest, and said if I am still interested, please let him know. Subsequently, I posted a complaint on www.complaints.com (LONG since deleted), and the CEO wrote in and complained about it, said how many very happy couples they have (which I have no doubt is a pure lie), and he would like to speak to me. I said NO. You are obviously a scammer and ripping people off. The complaints web site deleted my complaint because the CEO did not want the truth revealed and because I didn't buy their package. I don't have to spend the money to know I'm getting ripped off. This all happened in 1998. In 2008 I met a lady who said she had joined them recently and said it was a huge mistake, she felt ripped off, and would never do it again. I didn't ask her for details, I just thought it was interesting she also saw them as a scam. ********************************************************* Previous review: I wrote a review about E&A years ago when I lived in Portland, OR. Exact same tactics. They refuse to tell people the cost over the phone. If they did, most people would never join. I only know one person who joined and she later told me it was a BIG mistake. At the time, the fee was $1800 per year, and I see they have significantly raised their rates. After I posted my review, the CEO immediately went on and defended their outrageous costs, said how happy people are, how many happy marriages they have had, and so forth. I also found out that they consider anybody an active member who goes to ONE event per YEAR. The CEO asked for my review to be removed because I was exposing them for who they really are. He didn't like that. The CEO did everything he could to remove any reviews. Now I see people are finding out about them. E&A is truly the most deceptive, scamming singles club I have ever been to. But they don't call it a singles club, it is a social club. Really? If its not meant for singles, why do they ONLY want singles, and want to make sure everybody who joins is single? Because it IS a singles club. They charge membership AND additional fees for any event you go to. It is by far the most expensive singles club I have ever seen. Short list of the things I love about E&A: - Most of the members are wonderful and very diverse. - There is an event every night of the week, even though I don't go to everything it's nice to know I can if I wanted to. - The events are also diverse but there is some repetition so you can be sure to try something new or get into a routine with events you feel comfortable with. - There are plenty of guys and girls at each event. Depending on the event, the ratio might favor one gender over another, but you get to know which ones those are really quickly. Girls tend to like the club dancing more and guys like the flag football. So easy way to meet members of the opposite sex - step out of your comfort zone and go to an event that you wouldn't normally do! I joined E&A in 2011 after deciding that my life was at a stalemate and I wasn't getting any younger! The interview process was fun. I chatted with a super chill guy for about 20 minutes before he went over the membership fees. I originally thought that the club might be $25/month or so and was taken aback when I was given the prices for membership. I just needed to remember that E&A is a business and they have overhead, payroll and advertising fees. Wrapping your head around that chunk of change is a bit much at first, but I think it is worth every single penny and I tell that to people all the time. It was like buying a cheap car, and I can tell you that I have met way more amazing people in E&A than I would have ever met in a cheap car. I originally signed up for the three year membership. I knew the one year would not be long enough, but was unsure that I wanted to take the plunge into "lifetime". I was told I had 30 days to upgrade to lifetime without incurring fees, and I knew after two weeks that I was going to upgrade. My first event was a huge 0. Big big bomb. Not a total surprise though. Unless you're a total extrovert, which I am not, it's hard to jump into a big group of people who all know each other and instantly click with them. Don't get me wrong, everyone was really nice, it was just awkward, or maybe I was the awkward one. Could have been the event I chose as well. There are definitely events that are better for meeting and mingling with new people than others. That didn't stop me though, I didn't get a bad taste in my mouth. I joined the club to meet new people and have a good time and gosh darn-it, I was going to do just that. The event that sealed the deal for me was the new members orientation and games night. That was really a bonding event and where I met most of the people in my current group of friends. All of us being new and going through this together made it seem less scary and more like we were all rallying for the same thing. Which we were...we were there to meet new people and make friends, with no agenda but to have a good time. Everything from then on has been downhill. E&A is fun, it's easy, it's truly the best thing that I have done for my social life in my 30 years on this earth. If you are someone who is willing to take a risk and get out of your comfort zone, E&A is the perfect club to do that in. The employees work hard to make this club one of a kind and they succeed hand over fist. The price is a paltry amount to pay if you think of everything you can get out of it. But that's the thing, you have to want to get something out of it. You can't expect to join and then your world will immediately change and you'll meet the person of your dreams and ride off into the sunset. This is a social club, a great place to make connections and meet people, but you have to want to do that. If you're not willing to go to events and make an effort to be a good person, you'll never get a good outcome. Think of the reason you're thinking about joining. There is obviously something missing or not working in your life and you want to make a change, right? Well get off your couch and do it! If you're introverted or shy or awkward and are scared of taking the first step, tell them when you join and they'll connect you with a member who can take you around and introduce you to people and help to get you out of your shell. I joined the club in the summer of 2016 (a few months). This has been my experience: People of all ages (I am 60-and yes my photo is current) and all ages are friendly younger or older. I have made new friends male and female. Lots of activities to choose from that are diverse and fun. The hosts are friendly and have their act together so events/activities are fun to attend. Everyone is introduced at the beginning of an event and everyone enjoys mingling with one another. Are you promised you will meet your significant other? No, but no one can promise that, but there are many who have met and married from this club. My ex was one of them, and they are still married (I think it's great). IF YOU ARE GOING TO JOIN, make sure you attend the events/activities. The whole point of joining is to be more active, meet new people, have fun and to meet someone special. Pretty much a scam. And what's worse is this firm preys on the sad and lonely and pathetic. Let's face it if you have to pay for your friends then there just might possibly be something wrong with you. I joined while feeling particularly vulnerable after a bad break up with a terrlble person who made me get rid of all my friends so that she could have me all to her terrible self) Long story short I thought it would be a great way to meet some new people and I was told by the A and E sales staff that everybody who joined was super awesome and supercool and that there were tons of cute chicks and that everybody was single and they showed me tons of pics of super hotties that I would go on to never see again in real life at a real event, but I digress. I went to around 3 events... a game night, a valentines dance and a "fight club" night, (little known fact that events and adventures is Seattle's leader in underground fist fighting.) (just kidding). Anyway, the events were packed with nerds and worse than that, clickish nerds. Guys who became friends because they've been in events and adventures forever and who are just about as good at "freeze out" as anybody else in Seattle, imagine bizarro world sleepaway camp . Plus if you are even moderately attractive they freeze you out even more because they need to protect their territory for the one or two attractive girls whose social lives are so terrible that they have to show up at A and E's game nights or other events so that they can be a big fish in a small pond. (note: I still sorta hooked up with one of the two cute girls at that first event and even though the second girl was cute and a lawyer she had a thicker moustache than I did) I also was tricked into paying around 1800 bucks for a year, I figured what the hell, I've spent 1800 dollars on worse crap (a brooks brothers trenchcoat comes to mind). By around the 3rd event I realized what a terrible mistake I had made and tried to get my money back. No dice, that contract you sign is locked down tighter than Prince's recording contract with Columbia records. So in essence I paid like 600 dollars per event to show up and hate my life and hate myself for ever having joined. I was surrounded by the types of guys who were picked last at recess or not at all only now they ruled the land, imagine a world where the dungeons and dragons guys rule the school and football players get beat up on the bus. There were too few girls to mention and most of them looked like 12 miles of bad road. So in essence save your money. Join a church group, join AA (it's free and they have great coffee), join a rotisserie softball league, stay home and spam chicks on OK cupid stopping intermittently to take care of your own needs with your rich fantasy life. *note 2: every positive review on this site is from a fake yelper and A and E insider. I signed up for this because I thought participating in fun events, in a group a environment, would be a good way to meet someone. It seemed like a better alternative to meeting someone at a bar or through a dating service, which can be awkward. I agree with the others who have said the first meeting is very high pressure. They don't discuss the pricing on the phone, so you have to attend an in-person meeting to get the information to decide if you want to join. They do ask you questions about your salary and try to get you to sign up on the spot, which I did. I will take accountability and say I did not ask enough questions... like what their cancellation policy is, etc. I was excited at first and signed up for a few events right away. I was EXTREMELY disappointed. They told me I would probably never run into the same people because they have so many members and events. The same exact people were at the first 4 events I went to. Not only that, but there was basically no one my age at any of them (I was 25 at the time). It was mostly 40yr old women at each event (including 1 event that involved playing Wii at a bar). They also had to cancel 1 event because not enough people signed up for it. Despite my immediate dissatisfaction, I was going to continue to try a couple more, but then one of the event leaders started calling me. He had obtained my contact information off the list from the event and called to ask me out. I felt very uncomfortable with this and decided to not attend any more events. After making this decision, I looked into the cancellation policy, which I believe is something like 24 hours. The timeframe basically doesn't even allow you to attend 1 event to figure out if you like it or not, which seems ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I spent close to $2,000 on this, thinking it was going to be so much fun and that I was going to meet a bunch of great people. I feel like I was taken advantage of and that my money was wasted. The staff was extremely rude to me when I asked about a refund and when I asked to discuss it with a manager, they said one would call me back. I never received a call and got no where when I tried to follow up. Needless to say, I do not recommend that anyone sign up for this. I can't review Events and Adventures as a member because I wasn't the member, my daughter was. But I was responsible and I greatly regret that. I had suggested it to her for a couple of years. We should have read reviews before she went for that first meeting. She doesn't make a lot of money and is normally very careful. However, she fell for the "if you don't sign up tonight this group isn't for you" approach and spent a LOT of money to join. She went to a few outdoor events and had fun (she likes hiking and other outdoor activities), but most people were older than she is (she is early 30's). If you have the money to spend and the time to drive to events (most of the evening events were in the north end) then you might enjoy it. But if you have a tight budget or live south of Seattle, I would suggest finding a different option. read more

I wasn't sure what to rate this because I didn't actually follow through with getting the membership. I'll give it 3 stars so I don't sway their rating in either direction and because it probably is a great service if you're willing to dish out the money and sign up for it. The interview turned out to be more like a sales pitch and I felt a lot of pressure to sign up right at that instant. When I went, a year long membership was $2295 + $30 per month but if I signed up right at that moment I would get a $300 discount (the first visit discount). An additional $200 (I think this was the processing fee) would have been knocked off if I paid the full amount within 30 days. So $1795 + $30 per month if I signed up and paid it off right away. I wasn't ready to commit to something that expensive at that moment and when I started to hesitate, the pressure turned on. It put me in an uncomfortable position and it was tough to get out of there. Their lack of a trial membership so I could meet some members and see what an event is actually like made me very skeptical. To sum it up, if you're willing to pay $1800 + $30 a month without any hesitation for this service then you'll have a smooth interview and you'll probably enjoy the service. Events and Adventures is not a scam. To call them a scam would mean that they do not provide what they say they will when you join... I can not claim that to be true. Some of these review say the club is expensive... Sure - If you are someone with out a budget for fun. It is completely reasonable for what you get for your money. I was spending money going out with the same group of friends doing the same thing over and over again not meeting anyone new and not trying new things. I took that money and started doing things I never thought would be fun and meeting new people who were interested in those things. Glass blowing, a fencing class, and wine tasting were not on my list of things I thought I would enjoy but I gave them a shot and had fun. I am not someone who joined desperate to date because I haven't had a hard time meeting women but the women I have met at events do seem to be a better group of gals then the chicks who look for guys at the bar or clubs I was going to. If you are looking to find quality people who are not broke, willing to get out and try new things, and not willing to do online dating because you are nervous or don't seem that desperate... give Events and Adventures a try. I should mention that I have not enjoyed every single event I went to and I wont list things I tried and did not like but some of these reviews are from people who went to one event and did not find what they were looking for. I can see why that happened but I dont understand how someone can expect every event to be perfect for them. Even the events that I have gone to that I didnt like had other people there who were ovbviously enjoying themselves... what I mean is just cause it wasnt perfect for me doesnt mean it wasnt a good event. This is why EA doesn't work for me. I have been a member for 4 months and my perception of this club continually declines. I signed up from a radio ad they had in the summer of 2012 with the expectation of exactly what they had advertised. The recruiter was very energetic and enthusiastic about it. 1) EA is deceivingly energetic when they try and get you to join. The energy level declines significantly after you have done so. When I look at the events calender. They have one, maybe two events that are really worth going to (You have to pay for them by the way, you get perhaps 5% off compared to if you were to purchase the tickets normally) 2) EA tries to satisfy ALL the age categories in the club and therefore has a very limited focus on my age group 20-30. In the advertisements and when I signed up, it was REPEATEDLY advertised that you meet NEW people at the events. However, it was not the case. I met the same people at 90% of the events that I went to; and I didn't even go to the same "type" of events... I went to events for all age categories. 3) You meet the same people over and over at most events. The people in EA are... polite... I was looking for something else. I wanted to meet some attractive people and expected it to (Ads...) 4) I have seen 1 attractive person in the entire time I have been in the club; and she wasn't even a member! She was a friend of a member! All the men I have spoke to says similar things (about 20 men) and all the women I have spoken to says most of the guy members are overweight, dull, awkward, and/or boring (about 30 women). The events are either free or paid. All of the free events are actually free (event to the public) essentially you are paying EA is to inform you about the events whether they're good or not. Some such events are: free movie screenings (1/2months), volleyball (1/week), bike ride (1/2weeks), HH and bar related events (1-2/week), and the occasional "holiday events" The paid events are... they're ok because you pay for it yourself. Btw, another sign that they don't show much energy is that they don't have any kind of free refreshments on their "new members meet" in which you can only attend ONCE, super J-Bag... 5) The events are not worth your time & money. The "initiation fee" is 2k a year, 3k for 2 years or 4.5k for life. Yes I am not s**tting you... If you haven't not felt my disappointment and anger of being deceived I hope this point does. On top of the initiation fee you pay monthly fees 30,20, and 0 depending on each of the initiation you chose. There are monthly payment plans for the initiation fee. Should you choose to freeze your membership you still pay for your monthly initiation fee dues. All of the events are self paid... you pay for all the refreshments yourself (with exception of 1-2 events a year. They try like hell to sell this point to you by the way... "Oh our new years party is amazing!" and similar) . . . In addition to me venting this post is an attempt to prevent some headaches for you. Of course there are other ways to do exactly what EA does but at such a cheaper price... I recommend meetup.com it's FREE and SO much more people on it. read more

I can tell you that I, as well as many of you out there, have become experts at discerning real reviews from those that are nonobjective and meant to be sales pitches. I went to the E&A web site signed up and received a call from a sales person for a live interview. During the telephone call the sales person made several mistakes about past events and when I mentioned the inconsistency she just brushed them off. Red flag #1 Not having a trial period, or explaining the price red flag #2. Reading these reviews Red Flag#3 I can see that none of the positive ones are authentic. Notice how there is no specifics and no real success stories. Even a 5 star review comes with a suggestion for improvement. There is an art in reading reviews and being a good consumer for your own protection. I don't like that E&A is taking advantage of people in a social dilemma and offering a high pressure service,promising a group of amazing people. Why are they amazing? Because they paid? Older guys looking for dates? Who wants that. If they are so amazing post pictures, be transparent, or offer a trial period don't just take the money and run. I went from working all day and doing nothing at night and on the weekends to meeting a great group of people and having things to do almost every day of the week. I especially loved the outdoor athletic events but the parties were amazing too. I made great friends who enjoyed doing the same things did. I even met the love of my life and married him. I wish I had read the reviews on here before joining. I thought, due to the really high price, the other people in the group would be more like me (which I was also told in the interview process), a late twenties successful professional with some disposable income and an entertainment budget. The majority of people fall into two classes - recent college grads, and (seemingly) under/unemployed 35+ folks. The other irksome thing about the group is I was expecting it to be an activity group - somewhere I could meet peers to hang out and have fun but it feels like the focus is a lot more on dating and has a real junior high dance vibe to it. The events themselves also aren't really that great. On top of the very large fee to join, most events have a dollar amount which might be four or five dollars less than if you buy tickets to that event on your own and the seats usually aren't that great. Beyond that, a lot of the events are "Free" mingles at bars and restaurants and when I spoke with the event manager for the Seattle group about how far short of my expectations this group is he told me that due to "The tough economic times" they can't have more than one event that is more than $50 because people can't afford it ... which makes me wonder how they could afford the thousand plus dollars to sign up for the club. The third thing that really let me down about this group that calls itself a Seattle group has MAYBE a third of the events in Seattle. The rest are south side/Tacoma based, with a few north of the city. I think the Seattle group is just too old of a group (both in that it's been along for a long period of time and the average age of people who attend the events) and it does not work well for young, single, professionals. I've been to a few events with the Vancouver group and that one has more socially adjusted people who are mid twenties to mid thirties ... but now every time I head an ad on the radio I turn the channel. I just hope I can find a way to get out of having to pay for the rest of this membership because it is a complete and total waste of money and time. read more

I was a member for several years and had a lot of fun. I met a lot of really nice people and did things I never would have had the nerve to do by myself - like skydiving and SCUBA diving. It was great to be able to go someplace and not worry about making arrangements or being alone. I was able to get good seats for performances in Seattle and didn't have to sit by myself. We always went out for coffee or something afterwards and it was fun to have someone to share the experience with. I miss the events and the friendships I made but I'm happily married now. I was suckered into signing up for a 3 year contract to "save money" even though I will still be spending over $3000 for the 3 years, plus any additional fees for the events. (A majority of their events have an additional fee associated with them.) I attempted to call and explain my situation and my dissatisfaction and they refused to cancel my membership. Definitely knows how to sell you something with half truths. Definitely a word smith. About a week into being a part of events and adventures, devasting life changes occurred for me and my family. I called Ian to let him know that this was not the time to be dedicating my finance to something so trivial. I did sign the addendum that gives a ridiculous 3 day cancellation period, but Ian assured me I'd be refunded if I continued with them at a lower rate and that he'd put my membership on a freeze until I was ready. NONE OF THIS WAS TRUE! They still charged me the next month the newly "lowered" rate, and I got no refund. I spent an entire month trying to figure everything out with accounting who told me I needed to contact Ian, who of course I was not able to get ahold of! And finally when I got ahold of Ian, he said there's nothing he could do and that I misunderstood him! He then directed me back to accounting who then told me that only Ian could cancel my membership. Mind you not once during this whole fiasco did I use their services! I finally gave up and cut my losses. I get a call today saying if I don't make a payment they will be sending me to collections!!! I called accounting to find out they've been charging me this whole time. So not only did they take the $1000 I originally gave them that I literally tried to get back that same week, but they were charging me this whole time due to account timeframe needing to be fulfilled! Again, NOT ONCE DID I USE THEIR SERVICES! Katie from accounting states that useage has nothing to do with charges. So now to avoid going into collections because of a dating service (which by the way is not possible for use during a PANDEMIC anyway) I will have to pay $500 on top of the $1000 I've already given them. This company was able to get $1500 out of me without any sevices rendered. Do yourself a favor, if you think that you might have any type of life changing event happen to you...EVER...DO NOT INVEST IN EVENTS AND ADVERTURES. They do not care to help people as the advertise, they are only about the money. They are very good at what they know how to work the legal angle to their advantage without you being the wiser. They have their employees doing reviews to get their scores up. Basically if you have lots of money, but don't have lots of friends then this is an option for you. As with ALL activities, guys with money but are weird will be creepy, no matter what service you use. Duh! I would say join an activity forum online for free, and do it that way. Some people are computer naive and have money to burn, so for them this agency meets their needs. read more

Events and Adventures costs a lot for what it is worth. Not only does it cost a lot, the contract you sign has more fine print than buying a car! To cancel your membership they make it as hard as possible to cancel so that you get sucked into paying more. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY read more

I joined events & adventures upon my arrival to Seattle and it is one of the best choices I made! I've made great friends and have attended many wonderful events I would have missed if I would have had to go alone. Ok, I'm so glad I found this posting because I just made an appointment with Events and Adventures and after they refused to tell me how much it cost, I googled it and came across your reviews. I am definitely not going to the appointment now after hearing how much it costs, no wonder they wouldn't say over the phone. And to those who wrote the oh so wonderful reviews of the company, you obviously do work for them, in fact, you are probably the high pressure salesman calling us back. Another thing that was very unprofessional, the personal questions they asked made me feel like I was on a job interview and they were approving me. I recently moved to the Virginia area, heard this on the radio. So I go to the website and that results in a note that someone would all me. I work and do not have my cell phone at work, so they left a message every single day. I talked to them and was informed I needed to go to them for a one hour interview, no discussion of price, etc. I make time out of a Saturday to go there, when they give me an application. Included is your name, address, birthdate, and I am not sure what else. When you combine that with the fact they already had my cell phone number and email address and wow, they have a lot of information about me without my having signed up! So I explained I did not want to provide this information unless I signed with the program, I wanted information to make an intelligent, reason-based decision on whether the program was right for me. I was told they would not talk to me unless I filled out this application that included quite a bit of personal information. I said I was not comfortable with their process, that I just wanted to know about the program but that it was not for me. They called me later and I reiterated that I simply wanted to explore the possibility of becoming a member but that it was not for me, not when they were so insistent that they will only talk to someone after they have all their personal data. Seems reasonable to me that someone who says what I did would be seen and an application filled out if I decided to join. Guess not, they lost a sale and from the looks of the other reviews, sounds like I made the right choice. Listen to your instincts, they have worked well for me so far. Thanks for the info regarding pricing on here! It's a disgrace that I had to come to this site find out how much this costs even when I emailed the company directly twice. They called me nearly every day for a week and I just kept ignoring the calls because I'm not interested in a sales pitch or personality analysis if the cost isn't in my budget. Cut to the chase and answer the potential customers questions... or get a bad review on Yelp! Kinda sounds like a pathetic and desperate club if you're willing to pay that much. I recently joined Events and Adventures and it changed my social life tremendously. Before, I was sitting at home watching Tv, etc. wishing I had some place to go or someone to do activities with. Now, I'm enjoying myself doing all the things I love to do and trying all kinds of new things. People that are disappointed dont really give it a chance. You have to attend more than one event to meet all kinds of professionals and quality singles. Yes, it might sound expensive but not any more than going out with your friends or online dating sites. I should have read some reviews first before even just submitting my information. Like many of the other folks here I heard about it on the radio and went to check out the website. There were a few events that sounded like things I'd be interested, firing range and archery, and thought it would be cool to meet other singles (men and women) to see if there were any potential friendships. I submitted my info on a Wednesday morning, and got a call later that day. I missed it because work had been crazy busy, and the next few days were going to be super busy too. The following day I got another call, and I thought, cool, they're following up, I'll get to them when I can. When they started calling me every day (even on a Sunday night!) I became incredibly annoyed... they talk about online dating seeming desperate, they should monitor their own behavior too. That's when I went to look at reviews and wasn't exactly surprised by all of the negative reviews. Now I have no interest now in finding out more. read more

Events and Adventures is NOT for everyone! For this, I am glad. It is truly an exclusive social club for people that want to be social but for different reasons cannot seem to fit it in. I have had a wonderful time at every event I've attended. These people are quality, established individuals that appreciate meeting like singles. No riff-raff here. Last week we met at a wine tasting and had many laughs of all the experiences others shared with their 'on-line' dating experiences. Sure online dating is cheap, but you truly get what you pay for. I joined E&A in March of 2009, shortly after moving to Seattle from Colorado, because I was brand new to the area and wanted to join some type of group in which I could meet people and become more familiar with the area. I was thinking about looking for some type of outdoors group (REI, etc.) and then found out about E&A in an ad in Seattle Weekly. I looked into it and went in for the interview. I was a bit sticker-shocked by the pricing until they explained that I could spread out the monthly payments in a way that suited me best. So I decided to join - I purchased the one-year membership. Over that year I went to a lot of events and quickly built a large circle of friends in the area. I also discovered a lot of places with the club, many of which I may not have discovered had I just gone around exploring on my own. When my year was up, I decided that I had very much enjoyed the club and was continuing to get a lot of use out of it, so I decided to purchase the lifetime membership. Three months after doing so, in June of 2010, I was at an Alki Beach bonfire/potluck and hit it off in conversation with a new member for whom the bonfire was only her second event with E&A. Shortly after, we started dating (a lot of times our dates were attending E&A events together - a comedy show at Pike Place Market was our first). Four and a half years later, in January of 2014, I got down on one knee at Alki Beach, where we'd first met in 2010, and we were engaged. Now until my fiance and I get married in June of 2015 we're enjoying our time in E&A while it lasts, and we'll always look back on the fact that the club was the reason our paths crossed that first night at Alki. We've known several other engaged/married couples that met through E&A, so while it is not guaranteed that you'll meet that special someone, you never know. We also now have a large circle of friends, both in E&A and former E&A members, and can always do things (BBQs, hikes, etc.) with them even after we are no longer members. E&A was a great investment for me and, obviously, meeting my fiance through the club means it has had a much bigger impact on my life than I imagined it would that night I went in for the interview, not knowing at the time exactly what I was getting into. My biggest recommendation for someone reading this who may be on the fence about joining: if you decide you'd like to try it, go for the one-year membership first. It worked well for me (as well as countless other members I've talked to), and it gives you a chance to try it out for a year before deciding what you'd like to do next. Also, make sure to attend plenty of events and don't be discouraged if at some events you don't really hit it off with the other members. The crowd (age, gender, personalities, etc.) really varies from event to event, because of the randomness of it - i.e. there is no "quota" for a certain number of guys/gals, age 30-40, age 40-50, etc. for each event. Some groups may be mostly guys or gals, some 50-50. Some groups may be older, some may be younger - most of the time, however, I've found it to be a pretty diverse mix. It just really varies, and it usually works out well anyway because the other people at the event with you likely share a common interest with you - i.e. at a hike, chances are you like the outdoors/exercise, and so do the other members with you. I'm very happy I joined E&A and that I stayed involved with it these past 5+ years. If I hadn't, I would've missed out on meeting some great people and discovering a lot of new places with those people. And it could be that I wouldn't be planning a wedding right now. read more
